Push It

Hi Ladies,

Sorry I've been MIA for a bit. I hurt my back on Thursday afternoon. Not sure how it happened but it started hurting getting into my car. I left work early on Friday and got a massage. That helped some and I took a muscle relaxer which really through me for a loop. Back is 80% better but I'm suffering from vertigo now.

Thursday I got in Cardio Leg Blast and Friday I did Burn Sets Bi/Tri. I probably made things worse on Fri with Burn Sets so I'm taken a few days off to fully recover.

Saturday was M's First Communion. It was a really nice day and he looked so cute in his little suit. Yesterday I chaperoned his field trip to the aquarium which was really fun!

Jennifer - What a great idea to have a weekly date to workout upper body especially if you can push each other! I haven't bought the 12 lbs yet but I'm looking!

Toni - Great job on D8! I hate those kickbacks with the band - so hard!

Natasha - So cute that Bella joins you with your workouts. Awesome on the muscle definition! I liked GoKaleo's book but I don't think it's anything you couldn't get from reading her blog from time to time. Its more geared at people that don't eat enough or restrict certain types of foods which I'm quite the opposite.

Heartymax - I'm so jealous of your elliptical! I wish I had one at home. Sounds like a nice Mothers Day.

Stacie - Sounds like you had fun shopping with your neighbor.

Have a great day everyone!

Hello ladies :)

I'm headed out for a nice walk w/Bella today. It's been so terribly cold these past few days . WTH happened?

My w/o later on will be Bulk Back. I have decided I'm going to try (I say that lightly) and add-on a 2nd short leg/glute w/o during the week. I really love firewalker's, hip thrusts, stab ball hamstring roll-outs, but unfortunately those don't make an appearance in Body Beast. Today while Bella was preoccupied :p I did a 15min w/o which included: 50 kettle bell swings w/my 10lbs KB, walking lunges with 2x10lbs, 100 stab ball hip trusts w/no weight (Cathe does these in PLB), firewalker's w/my blue band, barbell front and backs squats w/low weight (trying to focus on form going deep into the move). I was sweating like crazy! A great LB quickie w/o .

TMJ
Glad M's communion went well. He must have looked like the handsome fellow :).
Sorry to hear about the back and vertigo :(. I hope you continue to get better.

Jennifer
Great job on your w/o's! I find with 40/20, you really have to dig deep within your mind and push through. WTG on conquering all those box jumps!
Regarding my saddle bags , heavy weight work is doing wonders for them. I'm happy you are getting much success with your w/o too :).

Toni
It seems as though you ARE getting stronger . That's awesome!
Yes, I am a freak with my love for DOMS :D;).

Good Morning. I took a the day from work yesterday because I needed a mental break. DH came home early so he and I went to one of the restaurants down by the river to have lunch. It was so nice to have some quiet time together. It was kind of like a post birthday and post mother's day celebration all wrapped up in one just for the two of us instead of having the boys with us. No mid-day crowds so it was nice.

I didn't workout yesterday either so I really took the day off all around. Today I did a 2 minute and 15 second plank followed by Hiit 40/20 followed by the core workout of HC and then I added on 22 push ups. I was trying to get to 25 but since I was already tired, I am surprised I was able to pump those out.

Jennifer---Have you joined the roadtrip group on FB? I read that section of the forum recently and noticed someone has put together a group on FB. I haven't joined. Hopefully, they someone will share all the great tips right here on the Cathe forum as we closer to that time.

TMJ---Definitely give your back some rest. It is hard to workout with an injured back and you don't want it to get worse. I know it is so tempting to want to keep up with your rotation.

Tasha---I love those stability ball hipthrusts in PLB. I know exactly what you are talking about. That is where I thought of putting my back on the floor and feet on the step (instead of ball) as a modification for Xtrain. I just can't form down with my back on step. Great workout from PLB.

Toni--I don't like triceps with the band either. I usually choose a light weight instead.

I rearranged my rotation a bit even though I said I wouldn't. I wanted to get legs and bi/tri in this week with a bit of cardio and start week 3 off fresh next Monday.

Today: Supercuts (timesaver)
Thurs: X Legs
Fri: 40:20 HiiT (will try...if not AOLHI)
Sat: Burn sets: Bi/Tri

Natasha: I knew you'd miss Cathe sooner or later. :)

HeartyMax: What a nice day you had with your husband! Fantastic!

Good afternoon! Sunday night I did intervals on the bike. No workout on Monday...I had returned the rental car because my car was repaired and accidentally left the garage remote in the car. This caused us to be locked out of our apartment overnight! Luckily, my neighbor let us spend the night. Last night was Burnset Bis and Tris.

I have some exciting news! I just bought Body Revolution for $10 off of Craigslist :eek:! She also threw in some stretch bands and a resistant band. I asked her why she didn't keep it and she said that she tried one disc but it was way too hard for her. Bad news for her but great for me!

My neighbor's oldest son contacted her late in the afternoon on Mothers Day and took her out to a movie. She was so happy!!!! I'm glad that he did that because she was a bit down went we went out in the morning.

Jennifer
Sorry to hear about the dogs fighting. My last dog got temperamental around 2 years old. I have no idea where the change came from but she never really outgrew it. I hope this was just a day where he woke up on the wrong side of the dog pillow!

I'm happy to hear that your pilates class went well.

Sorry to hear about the first class ticket as well. Definitely get lots of the free wine to make up for it! ;) How long is your layover in Denver?

HeartyMax
How was DS's field trip? How was your mental day off? I hope the rest did you well.

Toni
Way to go on the pull ups! 12 is pretty impressive!!!!

The weekends need to be at least one day longer....2 day is just never enough!

Natasha
What a great LB workout that you put together! I think the shorter workouts in BB are going to be really nice for the summer.

I don't think we will be doing the BB cardio. I don't think my neighbor can handle it.

Jogging intervals inside totally count. The only difference is that outdoors might have hills.

TMJ
I'm sorry to hear that your back was been bothering you. I hope you that rest leads to a speedy recovery!

I'm glad to hear that M's communion went well. I bet he looked really nice in his suit! The aquarium sounds fun too. I have been meaning to take my son as well to the one here.

Your rotation looks pretty hard!!!!! The Hiit are no joke at all.

Have a great day everyone!

Hi there!
Tonight I took the Ripped class and then taught Pilates. The class was packed tonight; I was really pleased that the one heavy-set woman came back:) There were a few people from last week but most of the people were new. One girl who showed up actually works in my department! That was a nice surprise:)

Tomorrow I will do a Glute workout; my iPod speaker doc arrived yesterday (so fast!) and it sounds awesome! I am really looking forward to that workout tomorrow:D I am really starting to miss my regular Cathe workouts, though, so I'm going to have to wake up earlier to add something back in... I am starting to miss the cardio.

Tash,
Welcome back to Cathe's moves:D And in addition to the Beast?! Yep - DOMS is going to visit you since it's been awhile. I think?! Honestly, sometimes those quickies are the best because just a few add-on exercises can make a workout absolutely perfect.

Sorry to hear about the weather. Hopefully the warmth will come back. We had a day of Spring and then it's gone right into Summer. However we might be getting your cold front after the thunder storms we're *supposed* to get.

Stacie,
Oh no! So sorry about being locked out of the house! So glad your neighbor was able to rescue you! Did your dog do okay? Some dogs will hold it forEVer but some dogs just can't. Or won't! By the way, I am very glad that one of her son's reached out to her on Mother's day:)

Maybe it's like you said... Dawn just woke up on the wrong side of the doggie pillow (LOL!). A couple days in a row:( Now she's wearing her muzzle outside, too. By the way, it's a Kennel Muzzle, not a Hannibal Lecter muzzle... they can still drink and eat with it on, and in fact they can still nip; just not too bad. All greyhounds are used to wearing them; they used to have to wear then when they raced.

How did you like the Spinning intervals? Which DVD did you do? Congrats on your new Body Revolution and bands! $10! What a steal!

Wait - free wine on first class? Well, not exactly my idea of *free* but I see what you mean. I'll have to look into the FC perks to make sure I get ALL of them! My layover in Denver is 1 hour and six minutes; not long enough to try to meet you anywhere:(

TmJ,
Your rotation does look really good! I still say that the HiiT Pyramid is a good choice if 40/20 has too much impact. Of course, AOLIH is also a good workout!

I was sorry to hear about your back. I ended up going to the chiropractor yesterday as a matter of fact so I feel your back pain! I did a situp and messed it up. I don't even know why I did it - I know better than to do those.

Heartymax,
Abs of steel, woman! My gosh did you work out hard, and what a fantastic workout; very well-rounded! Amazing that you banged out 22 pushups - holy smokes!

I did see that someone set up a FB for the RT but I didn't see anything when I looked (months ago) so I forgot about it. I remember Cathe saying to pack each workout outfit in it's own ziplock bag with a dryer sheet so that after the workout you can pack it and it won't stink up your bag or get anything else sweaty. That's the ONE thing I remember but I thought it was a good tip:)

Definitely sounds like a wonderful day that you had. It seems as though you were way over-due so I'm pleased as punch for you that it turned out so nice:D

Toni,
How are things going?

Have a great night!

Jennifer--- I bet that new Bose Ipod dock sounds amazing. Great sound of music makes the workout awesome. I borrow my youngest DS headphones for when I was on the elliptical. The Soul headphones are really nice. It's like having surround sound on your ears.

Stacie--$10 for BR---what a steal!!!

Today's workout was 2 minute and 20 second plank followed by Meso 2 Back and Biceps. I love Meso 2. The hypertrophy method and back off sets is great concept. Bicep curls were with 20 pound dumb bells so I felt pretty strong today. I struggled on my last rep of one arm rows and I was wondering why---dog gone it---I was using a 30lb instead of 25lb by mistake. That is what I get for rushing. I also had on my 2 1/2 extra pounds so that really threw my weight off.

Yesterday when I typed out my rotation in my post, I felt that something was wrong. This morning I know what was wrong. Um...there's no way I can do legs after Supercuts. My butt and legs are so sore after yesterday. Is it the dixie cup lunges? Boy do I love Supercuts....I did the Timesaver 1-6 but it moves so fast.

This is how my rotation is supposed to go (and how it was in the WM):

Wed: SC
Thurs: Burn Sets Bi and Tri
Fri: HiiT (i'm scared!)
Sat: X Legs
Sun: Crossfire

Then I start on Monday with Week 3 of the Apr rotation. I took the week off from Chest/Back to give my back extra time to rest.

Heartymax: If you were only struggling on your last rep with the 30lb, wouldn't that mean you're ready for 30's? I could see if you couldn't pull the first couple but I think that's a great mistake!

Jennifer: Yay for a packed class! I had a feeling that would happen. I remember we used to flock to great instructors at our gym.

Stacie: That is a fantastic deal for JMBR!!! Yikes! I did the first phase of the program and liked it. JM doesn't do much for warm up but the workouts are nice and short. I actually have JM Hard Body waiting for pick up at the library.

Ok ladies, I'm off to do Bi/Tri and *not* legs!

Hi ladies :)

Yesterday's w/o was an indoor 40min walk/jog by Jessica Smith (didn't go outside because of extremely high winds :() and Bulk Shoulder's. If I could chose only one shoulder routine to do forever, it would be this bad boy . Pretty excited that I was able to up my weight #'s again! And happy to report that my rear delts are getting stronger too :D. As far as results, I see a definite increase in strength, especially in my core. Doing so many plank-based exercises has it's benefits...I guess ;). I should try AB and see how I fair -- or not lol :p. Esthetically, I'm getting noticeable overall definition, tighter, leaner. I have a feeling that by the end of 90 days, my body composition will have changed, resulting in a decrease in body fat and increase in muscle mass. This program is THE BOMB .

Heartymax
Wow your #'s are awesome! IMO it's great you went to failure on your last rep. I think the reason why I'm getting results is because I'm not trying to get all my reps in. For example, if the set calls for 10R and I can only do 9R, then I stick with the heavier weight (if I have good form) and only do the 9R.

Jennifer
Glad to hear the Pilates class was full! Perhaps it has to do with the awesome trainer ;).
My DOMS was ok...nothing spectacular :(. Now that you mention it, my hammies were sore. My butt was burning during the KB swings and yet I felt no DOMS there .

TMJ
Any good reads lately? I saw at the store yesterday Dan Brown has a new book. LOL, I still have The Lost Symbol sitting on my shelf, unread .

Stacie
Congrats on Body Rev! I'm jealous :D. You'll have to let me know how it is!
Speaking of JM, I'm going to her concert on May 21st.
I think you are really going to appreciate the shorter w/o's in BB. Seriously, these w/o's pack an effective punch in such a short time. Can you believe I enabled 3 other girls from my check-in?

have an awesome day ladies!

Good afternoon everyone! Shortly after I dropped Tyler off, I received a call from his Special Ed teacher because she thought he might be wheezing a little. We chatted a bit and he is definitely having a hard time in class now that the old teacher is back. The special ed teacher said that he didn't have a single issue with the sub. I guess he came into her room really upset today because the teacher laid into him the minute he got to school. I cannot WAIT until this year is over. The special ed teachers and I are all counting down the days with Tyler every day so that he can make it to the end of the school year. I hate to be mean but I was really hoping for complication from her surgery -- not life threatening of course, just enough to keep her out until the end of the school year. No such luck though! At least they really love him in special ed...she let him have computer time since the teacher was so mean to him.

Last night I tried out Cardio #1 from JM's BR. Lots of eye candy in that one! She has so many background exercises in this one. She wasn't all business either in it...more light hearted and it was a good workout. I think there should be a better warm up and stretch section though. They are pretty non-existent. I really like the length -- almost 30 minutes exactly. The workout was three rounds of exercises performed for 60 seconds. I saw that it was classified as a low impact workout which I wouldn't agree with. It made me wonder what Cardio #3 is like since it's listed as high impact. I also noticed that the lady I bought the workouts from included a brand new unopened 30 Day Shred as well! I'm thinking of giving it to my neighbor since I already have that DVD.

T -2 days until we start Body Beast! Can I get a woot woot???!!!!! :p

Jennifer
That's great news that your class was full! Word is probably getting out about how amazing you are!

Too bad your layover isn't longer!!!! You're right thought -- an hour wouldn't be long enough at all. DIA is a really nice airport though. I think you'll like it.

I didn't do a DVD with the bike -- I really felt like listening to music for some reason. My bike has a display so I just did two minute intervals. I like to crank up the resistance so high for some of them that I have to stand to get the pedals moving. I find that I like the spin bike way better than the upright bike. I still want to get some of the NordicTrac audio spinning workouts. The car has been sucking all the money out of me though!

I've always wanted an iPOD dock and a Bose one must sound pretty awesome! I can't believe you got it so quickly either!

TMJ
I have been reading mixed reviews about Hard Body. You're lucky that your library has it in stock already! Definitely let us know what you think of it!!!!

HeartyMax
20lb bicep curls is pretty awesome for Meso #2!!!

Natasha
I can't believe that the JM concert is right around the corner! It seemed like it was so far off when you bought the tickets!!!

It's not surprising that people are getting hooked on BB. I had eyeballed it for a very long time -- just shortly after it came out. It only helped that you and fit44 love it so much! :D

Now...if I can get my hands on Les Mills combat I will be a very happy camper!

Have a great day ladies!

Didn't work out today as my legs are so sore!! Supercuts really kills me. Hopefully I can get my workout in tonight. Boys are going to hockey so I should have some quiet time.

Stacie: Sorry the evil teacher is still evil. School is almost over!!

Natasha: Really the best I've read recently is Night Circus. Have you read Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. Might be something to look into although people either love it or hate it -- there's no in between.

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Hello everyone. I do exist  And I have been working out :D I did all three discs from M1 W3 this week, including the highly anticipated D9. OMG...you were not kidding about D9. I did that one today and I am having very uncomfortable legs today  I have no idea what tomorrow will bring in terms of DOMS. Tomorrow is my regularly scheduled rest day and I usually try to start Sunday with a fairly intense cardio, BUT I may do an UB workout just to give my legs an extra day of rest if I need it.

I will definatly be doing lastics tonight. My entire body feels shorter and tightened up

Stacie
You are much better than me because at this point me and that teacher would be having some SERIOUS problems!! Once my child becomes physcially ill dealing with a specific teacher, I would certainly consider that env hostile and no longer suitable for my child  I really hate to see kids mistreated!!

HeartyMax
Are you going to do squat rack or plyo legs for M3? I'm torn. I want the cardio effect from plyo, but I've never done anything like squat rack and I'd like to try that also. So much to do so little time....sigh

Also you said M2 really shapes the legs, correct? I've never lifted that heavy for legs so I'm looking forward to seeing the results.

TMJ
I love me some SuperCuts!! I find that when I'm done with that workout my ENTIRE body is just plain old tired and feels generally worked. All goodness :D

Tasha
What out....BB has converted you to the way of core work!! You'll be picking up HC next thing you know it

Jennifer
I'm glad to hear class is going so well!! Yay for the new speaker doc...those things are awesome :D

Hi!
Aw shucks, you all are are too kind about my instructing skills:eek: I really did work very hard on my cuing! I know that it makes all the difference between a workout and an awesome workout. Seriously - "lengthen your leg long from the hip and lift as much of your leg off the floor as you can, turn the toes towards the floor, squeeze the glute, initiate the movement from the hip and squeeze the heel towards the ceiling" along with "keep the shoulder relaxed, down and away from the ear, keep the neck long, pull the abs in tight, inhale, and exhale" definitely sounds a lot different than "lift and lower the leg."

What I really think, though, is that the first class was such short notice and now that it's been 2 weeks more people are just aware of the class. Either way, it will be interesting to see who comes back!

Yesterday morning I did a glute workout and then Hotflash Core.

This morning I did a different glute workout and then Slide and Glide - I needed my cardio! It was a tough call but decided to stick with a short and low-impact workout.

Tomorrow will be Trisets and then I'm going to practice using the foam rollers with Pilates. I have a couple different DVDs but haven't tried them yet. It/they will add a new challenge that I am ready for. Some exercises use one roller and some use two!

Heartymax,
VERY nice job on those 20lb curls, and the nice surprise you got on the single arm rows - now you know what you should be lifting:D Your planks are getting stronger, too - awesome! Are you noticing more definition?
Oh - yes, the music sounded awesome!

TmJ,
I was wondering how your HiiT workout went but I guess I'll have to wait a while longer:)

I am just excited for you because I love 30/30 and 40/20; they just are hard so it's nice to have a goal to work up to. Oh, and plus I'm an intensity junkie:D

I hope your legs recover quickly:D

Stacie,
I agree with Toni - the teacher is making Tyler sick. Is there really nothing else that the school can do?! Either way I am so glad that the year is almost over! You must be doing a great job keeping him motivated to stay in class, that's for sure;)

Glad you liked the BR workout even though the warmup/cooldown were lacking. I agree, 30 minutes is a great amount of time. I remember when I thought I needed at LEAST 45-60 minutes for cardio.

You spinning workout sounded awesome; music is such a great way to lift the spirits and just plain 'ol feel GOOD. I'm glad you enjoyed your workout so well!

Cheers! Here's to Body Beast in another day!

Tash,
I could NOT be happier for you! Well, maybe in 90 days I will be;) I have got to get this program! Maybe it will go on sale by the time I'm ready to give it a go.

You really should try Afterburn, at least one of the premixes. There really aren't too many planks in it, and they don't last for very long, but I guess technically that could be a matter of opinion.

The Front Squat video was great - it amazed me how he got the bar to stick like that! I will have to see if I can do that; he made it look so easy but his body is just a tad bit more bulky than mine:rolleyes: I wonder if that has anything to do with it. He was very entertaining:D

Toni,
Cool deal - glad you're well and working out:) Congrats on D9! The good news about DOMS is that now you can focus on some stretching and upper body:cool:

Guess I'm going to watch Person of Interest with the hubby. Have a good night!

It's a long weekend for us over here. What about you guys?

My w/o yesterday was Bulk Chest. I was determined to heavy up  and I think I did pretty well. I am def feeling it today :D.

Toni
LOL, I said I was doing well with the core work, that does not mean I actually love it ;). Nope, no HC for this lady...well perhaps one day ;).
I love those M1 leg discs! I'll say it over and over again, STS leg routines just can't compare to anything else .

Stacie
You know what, I'm with Toni on this one about the teacher. I can't say this with complete certainty, but if by chance there ever was a teacher who was stressing out my daughter, she would def be having a meeting with me AND the principle. Just cuz' she is an authoritative figure, does not give her any right to treat your son badly. If that was another student, would that not be considered bullying? I feel so badly for you and Tyler :(.
Just warning you, the warm-up in BB might not be adequate. When do you start, today?

TMJ
Thanks for the read recommends. Every time I say I need to start reading again, I just can't find the time . I guess it's just like exercise, you have to make the time lol.
I'm trying to remember if SuperCuts ever gave me LB DOMS . Obviously, you are doing something right ;).

Jennifer

I totally agree about the cuing. With your short description, I could actually envision the move! Glad to hear you class is getting fuller :).
Ya, ya, I am going to give AB a go . I've done the premix, and it was not hard for me. I think the dread comes from having to repeat the cycle a 2nd time .
LOl ya that Chris dude is pretty hilarious! I've actually watched a lot of his youtube vids on his channel. Mark is quite fond of him as well, and is following some of his tips. A funny one was "you can't get jacked if you're worried about getting fat". This was in regards to the "bulking phase" :D.

Have a great weekend all

Stacie---I'm sorry to hear that Tyler is still having such a hard time with his teacher. I definitely understand the predicament you are in. You have done a lot to help Tyler. Most likely, the school knows the teacher is a problem and problems just continue. I have seen situations like this over the years.

My oldest son has a teacher that I have heard is very mean to him in class but my son doesn't admit it. Another parent said that her son came home and told her that the teacher is not nice to any of the students and makes them feel like they can't do anything right. The son of this parent feels that the teacher just even more mean to my son and he tells his mom that my son is not doing anything in class. I know that my son can let a lot of things roll off his back and his personality is one that doesn't let much bother him where the son of this parent couldn't. My son doesn't admit to any of this and seems okay with the teacher. She allowed my son to re-do an assignment last quarter because she didn't think he paraphrased well enough. Normally, she would give students a 0 but she asked him to re-do it, talked to my husband about it what he needed to do and didn't take off any penalty points for him having to re-do the assignment. My son actually ended up earning a few more points than some students who did their's right the first time. I asked myself if that sounds like a teacher who hates my son?? All of this happened around the same time so it was hard for me to complain about what I was hearing when she allowed my son to re-do an assignment that could have resulted in him failing her class for the quarter if he had not been able to re-do it. My husband says that he has to learn how to deal with many different people as he prepares for college and he has to learn to speak to us if there is a concern. I told my son that he should not be emotionally abused by anyone and that he has to let us know if intervention is needed because if he waits to late and responds inappropriately, that we will hold him accountable for his actions. It's difficult to complain about something that he doesn't admit too. I also know that kids don't want things to get worse and that is the fear of parents and students when they complain about teachers. My son as well as other students over the years have said to me that it doesn't matter what they say, adults are always right. I understand what he means because that is my frustration too----I know sometimes it is not the kids---but sometimes nothing ever happens and the kids have to continue to sit in the classroom each day. We are all counting down to the school year and I hope he gets a better teacher for this subject next year because it is not his least favorite subject already.

Toni---Yes, you will see results from Meso 2. I don't have squat racks so I only do Plyo which I love. To be honest with you, after all the heavy leg work I look forward to lightening things up and doing the Plyo work. BTW, I am glad Disc 9 did not disappoint you:D.

Jennifer---My abs would show more definition if I could stay focused with my eating...AARGHHH.

Okay, my new step arrived and I tried it out this morning using Hiit 40/20. OMG---it is so much softer than the old original step. I am so happy to have the added risers also. It is much more comfortable doing thrust moves off the step. The old step used to hurt my hands. I told DH and he was pleased to hear that I like it.

Good morning ladies! We are about to head out for a welcome home party for my nephew. I had to yet ANOTHER car repair this morning. Tyler totally charmed the shop though and the owner actually didn't charge us any labor! I thought that was super nice of him. He said to use the money to take Tyler out for a nice lunch. I need to bring him to the repair shop more often!

No workouts for another two days now. I have been completely exhausted. I even snapped at my boss yesterday which I feel really bad about even though I have apologized to him two or three times now. I need to be more diligent about getting enough sleep. Plus, the school and car repair stress isn't helping much!

HeartyMax
I am so sorry to hear about your son and the problems with his teacher as well. It's often very difficult to get information out of Tyler about what's going on in the classroom. I too have had other parents tell me things and it's very upsetting to find things out that way. I have even had kids come up to me and say "Tyler's bad and in trouble all the time". I really hate it. Do you think you will talk to the teacher? Or are you kinda like me and just trying to wait it out until the school is over? It's so hard to know what to do! I hope DS has a better teacher next year as well!

TMJ
Supercuts is a good leg workout! Sometimes I get some soreness in my legs as well. I think it all depends on how low I go on those squats.

Toni
Great job on getting the STS workouts done! Disc 9 is KILLER!

I am not happy at all with the teacher -- she is soooo negative. That same night that happened, some of the parents sent out an email requesting $10 for a gift for the teacher. Riiiighhht -- like that's going to happen.

Jennifer
The special ed teacher is going to talk to the teacher and see what is going on. I also emailed the school psychologist. She said she is in the class observing another student and she will look into it as well. I know Tyler isn't perfect -- he is an active and talkative boy. However, I want him to love school again and be happy like he was with the sub.

Speaking of slide and glide, do you have any other gliding workouts? I was wondering about the Mindy Mylrea workouts. I see them on ebay now and then for a pretty price. She has some spinning ones as well.

Natasha
Tomorrow is the big body beast day!!!! I still haven't gotten the pull up bar but I do have the turbo tower to rely on. I will print out the workout sheets today and then we will be all ready. I am super excited. Something happened to my neighbor though. She said she had an appointment yesterday but then she was down in the dumps about it. I don't know what it was about.

I have tried talking to the principal in the past and got zero results. This is why my neighbor thinks I need to get a school advocate. The special ed teacher said that I would have to pay for it but I'm not sure about that. My neighbor's sister-in-law is an asst principal at a different school and she said that the school can appoint one at no cost to me. I also worry about rocking the boat too much because I think that they will take it out on Tyler. I can't be there all the time due to work but it's always something I worry about.

Have a great day everyone!

Stacie--- I don't think I will speak to her because my son version of the class is different from what this one kid says. I do believe the class probably gets not so good vibes from her because I felt the same way in the beginning of the year when I met her at open house--- She is not an old teacher but definitely not warm and fuzzy. I am contemplating speaking with the counselor about it just in case this teacher happens to teach a class that he needs in the future. I do not want him to ever have her again and if I open up to the counselor about it now, I hope she will understand my request for her to monitor his schedule for the years to come. DS has really enjoyed his first year of high school. He has always been well liked by peers and I have never known a teacher not to like him. Not to say he has never had behaviors that need correcting, but he is a like able kid. This teacher has never given him negative comments in citizenship or as comments on his interims. But to sum it up, I likely will speak to the counselor and yes we are waiting for the school year to be over.

I do think the special educator and the administration should give careful attention to Tyler's teacher next year. I'm not sure if your school let's you write a letter requesting a teacher but I remember writing letters some years in elementary school outlining why my sons would benefit from a particular teacher. I would encourage you to talk to some other parents of students with ADHD to find out teacher in the next grade level that is more responsive to the needs of a student. You just want Tyler to feel that there is some good in him just like everyone else. He is a very young kid who should enjoy school. If I were his counselor, I would already have him on my list to make sure he got a better situation next year :). Please consider this suggestion.

Stacie--I forgot one thing -- yes, an advocate will be a good idea for you to explore for next year. I do believe parents pay for them. I'm not sure of cost, but I can ask someone if you would like me too. Advocates are familiar with laws and rights and you bet schools are on their P's and Q's if it's a good one.

It's 80 degrees here today :D I love me some sun and heat!!

Woke up with some DOMS and TTOM. Luckily my DOMS were not the type that make my legs feel weary, which is what I've been having with the STS Legs DVDs plus spinning. Today they were the kind where what I knew I needed was a less intense cardio session to get the blood flowing and loosen up the muscles. So I did MMA Kickboxing, which was perfect. I felt much better after the workout. The kicks help me stretch all areas of my legs and my DOMS were almost gone by the time I was done  The abs in this workout were dare I say easy for the most part  The bicycle maneuver is always terrible, but I did them all and the plank move after that was hard because I had just finished the bicycle. But that ab section is definitely one of Cathe's easier ones. I've decided I'm going to add one more ab session per week this week. That will bring me to a total of 4 for the week and I think that will be fine.

I definately thing my endurance is improving with STS M1. My body is starting to adjust to the endurance muscle workouts and the new challenge of spinning. I would really like to add another day of spinning a week, but I think I will wait one or two more weeks. I really like the feeling that spinning is giving my legs. They are getting a 'hard' feel to them and my body fat is reducing. I have five weeks til my hiking trip, which is when I hope to have all the fat around my knees gone :D We shall see.

Stacie
That was really nice about not being charge labor. Car repairs are so expensive anyway and labor is outrageous!!

Our long weekend is next weekend and I'm totally looking forward to it. My kids will be with their father and I can spend the weekend with my husband, whom I feel like I have not seen in weeks even though he hasn't been on the road much  We've both been busy with kid running around so it seems we are always going in different directions.

I love that you concentrate on cueing in your classes!! It really makes a difference. I really feel like the reason my lastics DVD is so much better at helping my flexibility is because of cueing. She really gives some very technical cues and it has totally helped me get more flexible. The backs of my legs are so much better now. Including my calfs, which always seemed to be tight.

Ok...I need to run. We have no veggies in the house  And I need a tan!! I don't layout in the sun, so really the only way for me to get one is to just do stuff outside which seems to be more than enough. Have a great day everyone!!

Happy Sunday!

Yesterday was UB Trisets and it felt good. After that I practiced doing pilates on the roller and making notes for a class agenda. It took several hours! Geesh! For some insight I did 2 different DVDs; the Stott Pilates on a Roll was so much better than PHI Pilates (and it was so much less expensive). My abs are actually sore today!

This morning I did a Glute workout and then did Intensity Step; it was awesome:D I have really missed that one! I originally planned on doing Ride but oh well, maybe later in the week.

Tomorrow I will miss the gym/UB workout with my friend because after work tomorrow we are taking the dogs to the vet. Whisper has a very large corn that needs to be hulled out of his front paw pad, and a smaller one on the other front paw pad. The poor guy, they always come back. He is really limping. Imagine walking with a rock stuck in your toe! Aurora just needs her annual shots, and Dawn would just go nuts if she were left all alone (separation anxiety) so we'll take her along for the ride. Of course we don't have a *family vehicle* so Craig will drive 2 of them and I'll drive 1:rolleyes:

It was a hot one today, in the 90s. We spent several hours outside with a couple friends at a fund raiser for a food pantry; it was a tasting event - beer, wine, and spirits. There are definitely some interesting drinks nowadays! The Skinnygirl Mojito is pretty good; Jack Rum Chocolate Coconut and Cinnamon Cream Rum are both very good, and Three Olives Tartz tastes just like the smarties/sweet tarts! Afterwards we walked across the plaza for some Mexican food. And drank Water!

Tash,
Enjoy your long weekend! Did the weather warm up? It was a perfect beach weekend here, if only we had a beach! Our long weekend is next weekend; Monday the 27th is memorial Day.

One of the premixes in AB doesn't repeat the exercises! Still, there is one drill that you have to re-do on the other leg. I don't remember specifically which one but it's towards the middle/end.

Are you still sore from Bulk Chest? How long is that workout? I'll have to get on UTube and look more into the program.

When is the JM event? I thought it was right around this time of May.

Heartymax,
Congrats on the new step! Glad it's softer, that is very nice! I also think it's sweet that DH was happy to hear it:) More risers make the *bench* very nice, doesn't it?! I was happy to get my extras, too.

Stacie,
Oh man! So sorry to hear about the car! Definitely cool that the repair shop didn't charge you for labor, and how sweet that they wanted you to take Tyler out for a nice lunch:cool: I think I'd add them to my Christmas Card list!

I'm glad one of the teachers is going to check on Tyler's class situation. That's a bit of a relief.
I'm also sorry that you've had so much stress going on and lack of sleep. I hope you get to relax soon! Your nephew's party will probably be a really good start:)

I'm not familiar with Mindy Mylrea but I'll look in to her! I just did a search and all kinds of things popped up. Thanks for the tip, and I'll let you know if I try anything of hers!

Toni,
That is great news about your legs firming up! I think you're in great shape for your hike, and of course it's the perfect time of year to be wearing shorts;)
Nice job on the MMA Kickboxing DVD; I agree, it's nice to do something light to loosen up some of the stiffness of sore muscles. I'm also glad to hear that your Lastics is going well! Good cuing really does make all the difference;)

TmJ,
About Night Circus - nevermind the question I asked earlier... the one with the guy is actually an Audio book. I can hardly wait to read it! I read some of the comments on Amazon and it sounds like a great brain-vacation kind of book:D

Have a great evening!
