PROGRESS NOT PERFECTION: SEPTEMBER "SCHOOL DAYS"

I did the Challenge premix to KCM's Plateau Buster, 42min. I liked the workout and the exercises, Kelly always puts a fun twist on things and I don't mind her compound exercises, but I was a little disappointed in the premix. It alternates exercises from workout 1 & 2, which I liked but then we get to the second half and its a repeat of the first half. I don't want to repeat, I hate TIFTing, however, I would do this premix again, but I have plenty of others to choose from. I added on the bonus stretch to make it 53min.

I wore my new sneakers for todays workout and they aded to the balance work but at least I could blame the shoes for my tipping over.

Catching up after those long days! Ugh, I feel so disconnected from the world. Lots to get done today.

My day started with breakfast, coffee with a T. of half and half, an apple with a T. of peanut butter, and a HB egg. Delicious. Then a 45 min walk with my monsters who were behaving exceptionally for me today, and Low Impact Step (the beginner one). It was nice to have a new DVD to do this week! I'm on week 5 of my condensed beginner rotation, three more weeks after this one and I'll get to start doing some REAL Cathes!

This afternoon I get to go have three fillings in my teeth. BOO. Then I'll probably start laundry max and watch the second half of my KSU/Miami game before the hubster gets home from work. Lunch is looking like some whole wheat pasta with red sauce and a lil parmesan cheese :)

Peng- your new sneakers are cute. I love the new bright fabric shoes that are out there, a few months ago I got myself some Brooks Cadence running shoes in a bright, beautiful turquoise to walk my dogs in. When they see the bright shoes come out, they know it's time for a walk! Ha ha too about your "goldilocks" comment, you are so right on there, some days it's hard to find the one that's "just right"!

Stacy- hope your long stretch is as pleasant as possible! We are having sooo many call-ins at work, makes me cranky because I haven't called in since January. Guess I need to, but I never get sick! Who do you follow (NFL?) Funny about your comment on the Firm and those stupid pelvic thrusts. PLEEEEEEEZE.

FnV- I am still thriving on your comment you made the other day about how I HAVE to get back to my previous condition. I love having that bounce around in my head all day. Bet you had no idea you'd create my new mantra. I also love your 8's idea. Sleep is so very important, I know cuz I was so short on it the past few days. Yes, I worked yesterday, but now am off for four days. FOUR GLORIOUS DAYS. ahhhhhh....

Oh! hey! I lost a pound! Down to 135. YAYYYYYYY

have a great day yall :)

Andrea---your mantra from FnV has also lingered in my head. I was at 134.2 yesterday, didnt weigh in today.

I did stick to my caesar salad with salmon lunch, did eat a few croutons and 3 of us split a carby/starch appetizer, couldve been worse. Breakfast/post workout was a 100 calorie chocolate milk. I'm finding these to be filling, refreshing and low cal, and surprisingly not as high in sugar as I thought. Much tastier than a true protein shake for me, so more apt to stick with them.

Not sure what's for dinner yet...

Mmmm, your lunch salad sounds good. I don't get (understand) croutons. Never been tempted by them. But a nice piece of grilled salmon and some crisp romaine lettuce...YUMMY!

Dinner tonight is my healthy version of a Chipotle burrito bowl. Broiling a couple of chicken breasts, steaming some rice, and heating up a can of black beans (rinsed, then I add my own seasonings and a little water). Whip up some guacamole, tear up some lettuce, chop up a little cilantro, and pile all of the above in a bowl (the rice is mainly for Rich but I'm going to have just a little!) Squirt some lime on it and toss in a little salsa (I get this organic stuff at Costco, it's really really good!) and it's heaven in a bowl!

And just because I'm thinking about it- be sure to floss every day, or every time you eat if you want. I HATE getting fillings! BOO BOO BOO! Funny thing is, they call me "pearly whites" at work because I'm always brushing/flossing after I eat. I think I just have bad teeth genetics. Had 13 cavities when I was 5 years old. :(

For dinner hubby wanted Chinese take-out. I ordered a chicken and veggie dish without the sauce and had maybe 1/4 cup of rice, skipped the fortune cookie too.

I HATE shopping for jeans b/c nothing ever fits, well I finally found a pair after about a decade and they fit almost perfectly...so great motivation to lose a few lbs and not gain b/c if I gain my jeans wont fit!!

I'm feeling good about my diet and workouts and I'm hopeful about some weight loss in my future! :)

Wow, good job girls. And you both deserve to to look and feel great. We all do. Speaking of jeans, my dd pointed out I can afford to go down a size in jeans since mine are super baggy now a days. : )
I need a veggie run, I'm having a hard time front loading on the plants. I took a half an avocado w/ me today and ate it w/ a spoon and some canned meatless chili to count as tomatoes. Overall, kinda icky tasting lunch. Plus no greens for smoothie in the morn.
Caught in downpour, came home to dry out rather than take dance so missed my workout, too.
Andrea, the burrito bowl sounds awesome. That is my fave chipotle dish to get.
Stacy, that cauliflower soup I finally made was sorta meh.
Peng, I don't mind TIFTing if it is overall fun. I have some balancey sneaks, but I think they contributed to knee issues due to the lateral instability so I stopped wearing them, but it might have just been a coincidence with whatever else I was doing at the time.

I baked bread, did the laundry {some extra loads too}, finished my lesson for tomorrow's Leaders meeting at Bible study {we are having a BBQ luncheon afterwards}, cleaned the bathroom, weeded and cleaned up backyard a bit, and made some tiebacks for the curtains in the dining room.

Andrea, sorry about the fillings. I don't like crutons in my salad {I give mine to Hubby or my Dad} but I'll eat the seasoned ones like popcorn if given the chance. We don't eat a lot of salads, mostly when we are eating out.

Stacy, I've tried choc milk after workouts and did like it but got out of the habit. I love milk but it has to be from a cow. My breakfast latte is made of choc protein powder, milk and coffee, I usually drink it then exercise, hopefully its giving me a boost before and after.

Faith, I don't think the shoes are intended to be balance-y I think they just have more padding in the center, because they are supposed to be running shoes, than I"m used to, but I'll keep your warning in mind

Hey there ladies!
Good morning/afternoon :) Kind of taking it easy today. Actually getting lots done, but in my own sweet time.
45 min doggie walk, same path as yesterday, and Body Fusion, again without pausing the DVD player and used 5 pounders on everything except the deltoid stuff where I have to use 3's. That's progress, I had been using 4's for the biceps and triceps.

Breakfast was a bit excessive...but I enjoyed it and it was a lot of good stuff. 2 eggs, 2 strips bacon (all natural, uncured), 1/4 of an avocado, some cherry tomatoes, fresh basil leaves, and 2 slices 12 grain bread. Ate that early, like 6:30 and was full until lunch at 1.

Lunch was a WW pita stuffed with hummus, lettuce, onion, and tomatoes, and about 10 baby carrots. Water is never a problem for me, I've had about 80 oz already today.

Peng- funny about the salads, I eat them at home all the time, never when I'm out to eat! What is TIFTing?

FnV- is there a better feeling on this earth than having baggy jeans? LOL! Awesome for you!

Stacy- Good job on the chinese food! I have a hard time asking for special things when we eat out, mainly because my husband's mom and sister do that EVERY TIME and it irritates him to no end, so I don't want to hear it from him. :( Luckily we don't eat out very often so when we do I can splurge a little. My weakness is probably a giant heaping bowl of spicy Pad Thai.

OK now off to do some much needed cleaning. I brushed Pinto this morning and that dog...that dog can shed like nothing I've ever seen before.

I just got home; today was one of my early mornings, I didn't sleep well last night, and I just want a nap! I need to do some more laundry, and think of something to do with chicken legs for dinner.

Andrea, TIFTing is 'taking it from the top" to discribe breakdowns that repeat everything each time with the new move added on the end. Not exactly what happened in the workout but I use it to discribe repeating the same thing over again.

Andrea...you can definitely see progress!! Why wait to "graduate" to LIC?? If you're ready for a change, maybe it's time to move ahead and go for it!?

Peng...did you end up taking a nap??

FnV...I believe today is your crazy busy day? Hopefully you can get some R&R at some point.

As for me, had intentions of working out, but just felt too tired from work. I'm getting up early in the morning and will workout before work.

Food today....not too bad I guess

B--almonds, coffee
L--choc milk (100 cals), an apple, tuna fish mixed with celery and diced red peppers and ~2 tsp light mayo
S--pistachios and a small snack size Mr. Goodbar (darn candy dish at work got me today)
D--hubby wanted to goto IHOP, I ordered a 400 calorie entree...Egg Beaters, 2 strips turkey bacon and 2 pancakes with no butter, I did use syrup though so that of course added some calories

Plan to do better with eating tomorrow. Getting a bit bummed, no weight loss on the scale, but I know that scales are evil so not letting it get to me too much.

I'm beat, going to bed. G'nite all.

Andrea, I can see the progress, too, wtg. I like LIC a whole lot. I find that the learning curve of a new step routine sometimes decreases its intensity at first, so maybe that workout will be a great transition as soon as you are ready/want to try it.
Stacy, yes it was my busy day, no workout, but tomorrow should be at least a run in the evening.
Peng, I was grateful for a good nights sleep (about 10 p to 6 a). I'm relying less on coffee these days and more on sleep and yerba mate to avoid fatigue. Although I've had more issues in the past few years, overall, I'm lucky in that I usually sleep well.
Spinach and Arugula mix plus an apple for my smoothie. (don't recommend, much better as a salad base!)
sardines and brussels sprouts for lunch (kind of a double whammy)
pumpkin seeds throughout
didn't eat my kiwi or other apple and didn't eat pb cookies dd made--> just headed to bed soon.

I just did Cathe's CrossFire. That was fun! I did the Low Impact and Plyo Tabatas {about 30m}. I added on a few additional minutes for cooldown and then again for extra stretching. I didn't do a lot of jumping so my plyo didn't look that difrferent from the LI, but it was still fun. I think next time I'll do the Triple Tabata premix.

Faith, Hubby has to get up around 6am, but he's the one who keeps me up late. If we get in bed by 11:30 that's normal. If I go to bed earler he wakes me up getting into bed, and last night he kept waking me up by snoring. oooo, PB cookies, Yum!

Stacy, I laid on the loveseat but didn't fall asleep, but the rest was proabaly good for me anyway. However getting up and walking around might have been better since I did sit for most of the morning. I didn't do my laundry or fix the chicken.

Andrea, I think you look leaner, especially around the waist and bra strap.

Sept 12, Wed
breakfast latte
BBQ, beans, fruit, 3 brownies and 1 unidentified yummy spice bar thing.
Doritos {at least they are gone now!}
Italian Veggie crustless quiche, 1 bread/butter + iced coffee

I complained about how tired I was after dinner and Hubby asked me if I wanted him to make some coffee. I exclaimed "what do you think I just dranK?" :p

I just did most of To The Max, whew, I'm a mess!! I had to pause twice just during the first step segment, at that point I knew I was in trouble! I paused to catch my breath more times than I would like to admit, and other than doing only about 1/3 of the 30/20 HIIT segment, I completed the workout. I only used 3 lbs for all the weight segments. I need to put this one into the rotation at least once every week or so.

As Tony Horton says, "there's no such thing as an easy workout!"

I need to keep the momentum going with some clean eating today!

I'm up for my second early morning of the week, but since this day is the end of my responsiblites for the week I call this my Friday. Hubby's Friday is actually Sat. We dont' agree on much anyway! I'm trying today caffeine free. I made my latte without coffee.

Its finally cooled off which is nice. Hubby and I are both a little sniffly, and our glands under our jaws are swollen; its that time of year again, when everyones sinus passages draining and pollen is floating free. Ick.

I need to finish getting ready.

STacy, good job on TTM, I don't have that one.

thanks guys for noticing a little progress, i went back and looked again and you are all right:)

good job on that morning workout Stacy! woo hoo!

OK well I was going to take a rest day. My mind was tired at the end of Body Fusion yesterday (I didn't want to finish) and my bod hurt today. It's cold and rainy and dreary here (I love it, actually). I spent the day puttering around the house, ingested a small frozen pizza for lunch (if I'm gonna slack, I slack big time) and ate some peanut butter M&M's while sorting the giant pile of recipes that has taken over our back bedroom. Funny thing happened though after I took a couple of Aleves. I felt like working out! So I DID get Low Impact Step in. I'm so happy! That pizza won't hurt me so bad! Or at least the M&Ms! :)

Dinner is pulled pork sandwiches, I put a pork shoulder in the crock pot this morning and it's smelling delicious. I"ll have a salad as well, hubby may or may not. He'll probably eat ice cream and potato chips along with it. LOL. Off to the shower :)

Andrea, I am happy for you that you enjoyed getting a workout in. That is so much more fun than when we are tired and have to slog thru it. I'd read your earlier post about rest day so did a double take on the edit.

Peng, do you take Fri off? Oh wait, here I am thinking today was Friday again. Nevermind. Edited to ask How did caffeine free day go?

Stacy, good job on TTM. I like ttm and cf

OK, good news, got a clear on the tatas. Now back to my regularly scheduled programming. lol. I did about 30 min of steady state run f/b 30 min of walk jog sprint cycles this eve. Ideally i would have gotten shoulder and core, but I took a nap today.

Plan on spirutein breakie, tuna and olives and sweet potato and a kiwi in lunch bag plus pumpkin seeds. Yerba Mate and Green tea blend cooling on stove for tomorrow's hydration brew.

It's FINALLY FRIDAY!!!!!! lol!

I am scheduled to do High Step Circuit. It has tubing. I hate tubing. SO....going to tackle Cardio and Weights. I've done it before, probably about three times, but it was last spring and it was TUFF...I'm feeling like cardio is becoming easier for me (barely breaking a sweat yesterday on LIS, breathing lightly through my nose the whole time, I used to be dying just in the warm up) so I'm hoping it will be perfect for me. Big test. That coupled with the 45 min dogwalk we just took, I should be good for the day :)

FnV- Congrats on your good tata news! You must feel so much better. How are you doing on your 8's?

Peng- you feeling OK? Got a headache yet from going caffeine free? I am unable to do that. Completely unable.

Stacy- how did the eating go yesterday? Hopefully better than mine :p Are you resting today or doing a HoCo/DF workout?

Breakfast today: WW Bagel and lowfat strawberry cream cheese, coffee w/ half and half
Snack: banana (gross, I totally hate bananas!)
Lunch looks like a salad with hummus/pita and dinner is some of my homemade lentil soup :) yummers.

Have a great Friday everyone!

Actually, my caffeine free day went rather well. I was tired but I'm usually tired on Thurs. I'm by nature a hermit so while I do enjoy my Bible study days just being around all those other women can be tiring; there's close to 300 of us. But I didn't do my workout.

I baked the forgotten chicken in the oven and discovered that if you wrap ears of shucked corn in foil you can bake them in the oven also.

Yesterday Hubby came home from work not feeling well, he says there's something going around at work, so he took some cold meds when he got home then more before bed. This prompted me to take a half dose as a pre-emptive strike, so I woke this morning groggy and stiff. Last night I pulled a muscle in my neck/shoulder while getting towels out of the dryer. So all this is tempting me to go back to bed! Hopefully if I stay up and keep moving I'll feel better.

Faith, glad to hear you got a good report.

Andrea, I don't like tubing either and tend to sub in weights whenever possible. I figure close enough. Your pork roast sounds good!
