PROGRESS NOT PERFECTION: SEPTEMBER "SCHOOL DAYS"

Good job on CW! I like that one too. fun music to me. I think the Intensity series has a lot to offer.

My dad here, not sure if how when I will get to a workout but keep up the good fight yall.

Oh and my step down drug of choice is black tea and then green tea in previous times I've quit coffee.
 
I did try to take a nap but couldn’t fall asleep, so I decided to clean the baseboards in the house thinking that would involve a lot of sitting, but that lead to dusting, then taking down the curtains in the dining room to shake out, then washing them, then washing the blinds and the window. How does one simple job escalate?

Also its April's scheduled Spa Day, where I give her a good brushing, clip her claws, and scrub her down with a wet cloth, added to that judging from her breath she's going to get her teeth brushed. Lucky girl. :rolleyes:

I don't actually like coffee or tea that much; I tend to put so much 'stuff' in it to drink it that its not worth the effort. I mixed a protein shake this morning {with my asprin} then drink water the rest of the day. I feel dehydrated and keep drinking water, but also go from feeling hot to cold. Usually is I get sick I just want to sleep! I"m planning on making chicken soup from the leftover chicken with lots of onion and garlic. Hubby will take me to the groc store to get juice tonight.
 
your soup sounds like just what you need! and please...can you come to my house and do all those things i somehow never get around to doing!?!? do you clean bathtubs too?

Yesterday's workout must have worn me out, I fell asleep not long after dinner. Eating was okay, still somethings I shouldnt have eaten, but still heading in the right direction.

I enjoy my black coffee, I have tea on occasion, but for me I dont see anything wrong with black coffee. It's something I enjoy.

Good job on the C&W Andrea, that's my "get back into the swing of things" workout after a hiatus. Fridays are my pizza and no workout day.

Peng, your cleaning makes me tired just reading about it!!

FnV, what's Yerba Mate?

I'm working all weekend so not sure if I'll get in a workout or not either, may try to sneak in one of the DeltaFit workouts from Phase 2, I hear that pack a decent punch into 30 minutes.

I feel pretty good now so maybe it was just the grogginess from the cold meds. I hope anyway. Its supposed to rain all weekend so we are planning to just stay home and relax.

I made chicken soup from leftover chicken, which included a lot of onion peppers and garlic and half a bag of mixed veggies. It turned out much better than ever before but I'm not sure what I did differently!?

Andrea, I only clean when I have to and only clean bathtubs when I really have to. Some people do spring cleaning but mine is more like Fall Cleaning.

Faith, I'm not sure I've every had black tes.
 
I do feel better this morning. I found the secret to Hubby's not staying home yesterday; last week his boss got sick and was out for a few days so Hubby being the kind and compassionate soul he is gave his boss a hard time for staying home {boss is Army Hubby is Navy, if that gives you any ideas} so when a week later Hubby didn't feel well he DARE NOT stay home and give Boss a reason to give him a hard time. :p {and just like that grown men are 12 years old again.}

My shoulder is still a bit sore but nothing major, today is the day I traditionally clean house {vac, mop floors} but at least I know the DR is clean! I would like to do a workout buy I'm not sure what to do yet. Proabably something lower body.
 
I did new-to-me P90M Plyo Legs. I enjoyed it. I could modify up or down as I wanted and Tony was his usual goofy self.

now I just have to clean house.
 
After dinner I made Hubby drive me to a few Targets and a Walmart in search of the Weider system which is supposed to be on clearance for $15. The only sets I saw were at Walmart full price. At the last Target I found a 20lb kettlebell for $15 which I didn't really need but couldn't resist. I insisted on carrying it to the checkout myself yelling "My Toy!" everytime Hubby tried to take it from me, much to the delight of the woman behind us, who chuckled.
 
Peng, your posts looked lonely and though I dont have much to report thought I'd say "hi" at least! What kind of kettlebell did you get? I have 2 I got from Target and would like one more but they're so pricey!!

I was trying to workout before work but hasnt happened yet. I work and have a beeper so havent gotten a break from the action long enough.

Yesterday I made a soup called "cheeseburger soup", was good and hearty, I tried to make low cal/low fat swaps when I could.

Not sure what's on the agenda yet today, other than coffee right now.
 
I know, we are all so busy working we don't have time for the important things in life like checking in! Sad... :(

I am NOT feeling well today. Worked 4a-5p yesterday, walked the monsters a couple of miles when I got home to forget about the day, ate some soup and curled up on the couch to watch my football game (Stacy, I think our scores were similar again...LOL). By the end of the game I was in my hoodie and sweats, surrounded by a down blanket, and still chilly, and it wasn't even cold in my house. This morning my throat feels like someone drug a lemon zester across it and I'm all super space cadet-brain...hopefully I'll get to go home a little early, around 1. Ugh.

I also have no real workout to report, just dog walking, which was I guess something since I've just recently decided that I can do it after work even if my feet hurt (not like they are broken, they just hurt) and it makes my mind relax which is nice. Hoping to get over whatever is bugging me.

Peng, lovely of your husband to take you out looking for more workouts and stuff. My husband can NOT wrap his brain around why on earth I would need ONE MORE DVD, piece of equipment, whatever. You're a lucky lady!
 
Today is a rest day but Hubby's cleaning his office and I'm working on other big projects that I can get his help with. Our church annoucned that they have a new pastor specifically for us 40's and will start an Sunday school class just for us. Interesting, I"ve never heard of a pastor for this age group before.

Stacy, that's why I jumped on this one. I didn't really need it, I have 10, 15, 25# already and thought I'd get a 35# next for swings but it was there and I liked it, except its grey. Its the Reebok but it didn't have the dvds anymore.

Andrea, Hubby sees this as an investment in my health. I have him well trained, right?

Stacy yerba mate is plant/tea from South America. It has caffeine and other similar things but I've never gotten that icky too much caffeine feeling while drinking it. However, while looking for this link, I found a few warnings. I don't know if there are more than just what would go along w/ coffee or any caffeine beverage or Hot beverage. Faith, yes, I believe so. I was hoping that I could get Hubby interested in the workouts, since they are shorter and don't use weights. But we didn't find the set on clearance. Maybe it will go to Ross and TJ/Marshalls eventually.

We did go to one last Target and Walmart. While we didn't find the Weider set we did find a 35# kettlebell, with no price. After some debate and a trip up to customer service and back they found a price, knocked a little off and we bought it for around $50. Yay!
 
Nothing much planned for today, just hanging around to work on the house.

The company Hubby works for announced that they are closing the branch here in Memphis in Dec. We don't want to move somewhere else working for this company, we can't pay two mortgages and we would lose our house, even if we wanted to move, we can't rent the house out because we have a VA loan. We can't complain about this rule because the VA loan has been a great help to us over the years.
 
I didn't workout F, Sa, Su but did a run (40 min 5K) while dd at TKD today plus did some push ups and dips and lunges.

i just started feeling better a little while ago, and Rich wanted some Church's chicken. i told him to go pick some up, i would eat some mashed potatoes. oh man I ate potatoes, cole slaw, and THREE chicken legs! oops! guess i was hungry, and guess I am feeling better. No workout today, just resting. Rich did take the dogs out to a wilderness park where they ran and ran and ran, and I got some quiet time so that was nice.

Peng, sorry to hear about your housing dilemma! hoping something works out for the best there.
Stacy, I think i'm renouncing the chiefs and will become a Broncos fan. :)

Worked 7am-8pm, so came home and went out to dinner with hubby...soup and salad. No workout today, but plan on it tomorrow.

Andrea....sure about the Broncos? Manning just threw his 3rd INT....I still like him though.

Morning everybodeeee!

Feeling much better today. Yesterday I was supposed to do Total Body Sculpting, today LIS, so since I did nothing yesterday I did the premix that includes both of them. WELLLLLLL...that evil Cathe strikes again! I was surprised when she threw in a second dose of the intensity blasts...and then again when she doubled up on the ab work. Guess I just got an education on Cathe premixes LOL. It's okay, it was what I needed, and I burned an astonishing 538 calories so I'm happy.

Since I was under the weather yesterday I finally got my recipe collection organized, and one of said recipes was from Cook's Illustrated magazine for the best chocolate chip cookies ever. It involved browning the butter and then mixing the sugars with the browned butter, letting that rest, whisking it, letting it rest, whisking it again, letting it rest again, and whisking it again before mixing in the flour. OH MY GOODNESS. The caramel flavors are amazing. I don't bake like EVER so an occasional indulgence is OK in my book, but I sure wish hubby would get home from work to help me eat them. I need to go have a salad, STAT.

Well I did something that was sure to sink me into the depths of depression....went shopping for jeans. 4 hrs later, I have nothing to show for it other than feeling fat and frumpy. How can a label says "flattering for every figure" and then say "super skinny jeans" on the same freak'n label????? At one point I really felt like I was going to cry right there in the fitting room.

So, I'm now trying to let it go, realize I'll be stuck in sweats forever and move on. I honestly have not worn jeans for about 20 years now.

I still havent worked out yet b/c I'm still in the "what's the point, I'm still fat anyways" mood but I'll be fine in a few hours. Only problem even when I was thinner I still couldnt find jeans that fit, only then it was smaller sizes that didnt fit. Sigh.

Andrea...I found that cookie recipe online. I'm going to have to try it out. I'm the baker in the family. I usually bake stuff and give it away so I dont have to eat it!

I did buy 2 new workout videos today at Walmart to kinda cheer myself up, but really total impulse buys. I bought a Jillian Michaels Kickboxing one and a new Tae Bo Classic one, that I probably wont like, but it was $9 and I can donate it with the cookies later if I dont like it.
