PROGRESS NOT PERFECTION: JANUARY 2013

i attempted Athletic Training today. wow i am just not ready for these low impact series! got through the warmup, barely, the step, and half of the uneven lunges when I nearly passed out. going to have to put them on hold until...let's say April.

massage, dog walk, and cleaning/errands for the rest of the day. have a good one ladies :)

My eating hasnt been great lately, but my workouts are coming along.

I was too beat after a long mentally exhausting work day yesterday so hubby and I went out for pizza and I came home and fell asleep early. I woke up this morning feeling refreshed and ready for a workout!

I did SuperCuts for the first time. Great workout! I was going to do abs afterwards but SC had enough core work in it that I didnt feel it was necessary. I then tackled my first 100 Rep Challenge with Hip Thrusts!! Yowzers!! I used a barbell loaded with a 5 lb plate on either side, Amanda looked to be using two 10 lb plates on either side. My booty was on fire by rep 30!! I thought if I could just make it to 50 then I can stop, but by then I though I'm halfway there, so I kept on going. It's doubtful I will be able to sit down tomorrow, lol! I toyed around with doing the 100 Rep Challenges on the same day I do that body part but I'm going to do them on separate days. That way I have more energy for the challenge and I'm in essence then working that body part twice a week. My plan for this week looks like...

M--rest day
T--Supercuts + Hip Thrust 100 Rep
W--Ch/Ba/Sh + Core + 100 Rep Bicep Curls
Th--Cardio of choice + 100 Rep Tricep Ext.
F--Rest day
S--Cardio Leg Blast + Core + 100 Rep Lat Raises
S--Bi's/Tri's + Core + 100 Rep Scarecrow (rotator cuff)

Phat, hope you're feeling better!

Peng, cant remember did you get XTrain??

Andrea, I felt the same way when I did AT the first time, it actually gets a bit easier after the initial step and squat series b/c you're doing more isolation stuff. I like doing the AT Extreme Premix alot, it's only 43 minutes total but you do the step/leg-squat series twice before moving on to some other exercises.

Off to have lunch with my sis and run some errands. Since the weather turned cold again, I think I'll make some soup for dinner, havent made soup in awhile.

Have a good one!

We had a busy off day trying to cram all the errands in one day, then it started to sleet so we did the groc shopping and went home for the day. The rest can wait. After 70's of last week its now 28* outside.

Hubby has an inerview with his present company for the job in corperate that he has been told he will have. We think the interview is just a formality.

I need to do laundry, bake cookies for tomorrow, finish my Bible lesson, and I'm sure several more things I'm forgetting, lol.

Stacy good job on your workout. Yes I got xtrain. I'm making chili tonight.

Phat, hope you feel better

Andrea, as Stacy said sometimes Cathe throws the hard stuff first so if you can get past that it gets easier. or you body just gets used to the torture.:p

migraine yesterday, but got a workout plan together through April.

Yoga this morning before work, dog walk later.

feeling like the crankies are on their way out :)

Eating was a bit blah, but did get my workout in. I did Xtrain Ch/Ba/Sh for the first time followed by Core and then did the 100 Rep Bicep Curl Challenge. I'm humbled by the two challenges I have done so far. Marlow used 10 lb plates on each side on her barbell, I used a mere 2.5 lb on each side and still had to take many pauses. I do feel I can increase it to to 5 lbs next time though.

Tomorrow morning is cardio of choice + 100 Rep Tricep Extension Challenge, that oughta be interesting seeing as my tri's reach fatigue pretty quick!

This morning I did the Step only Premix from Cardio Supersets (was short but that's all I had time for before work), then did my own 100 Rep Challenge with 100 calve raises then did the 100 Rep Challenge Tricep Extensions.

Tomorrow, TGIF, no workout planned.

This morning I was up at 4:20 and did Body Fusion before work. It was absolutely exactly what I needed! Glad I have those basic workouts for when I'm in a funk like this.

Now...I get home and there is no sound coming out of my TV. Unless I'm watching Netflix... there is sound when it is hooked up to my laptop. SO at least it looks like a cable issue instead of a TV issue. Hope to figure it out! grrr....life's little aggravations!

Stacy, I'm glad you are enjoying the new workouts. I wish I was more advanced like you all :( For now I'll just have to be happy with my oldie but goodie more intermediate Cathes.

wow that sounded kinda snarky! sorry didn't mean it like that :p you know I'm just cranky after getting my butt handed to me and nearly blacking out attempting AT the other day :O

I'll get there...progress :p

Lol, Andrea, I wish I was in half as good of shape as you think I am!! The first time I did AT I about passed out multiple times. I thought, this is LOW impact and I'm dying! There are still many things on Cathe's workout I cannot do yet!

Andrea, good job on Body Fusion especially so early in the morning.

Stacy, can you walk after all those calf raises?

Slow quiet day planned for tomorrow after running all over the church {twice} today!

Hubby and I talked about listing some health/fitness goals for the week and getting small rewards when we complete them for more accountiblity.

Good Morning!

I've got Xtrain Cardio Leg Blast + abs + 100 Rep Challenge Lateral Raises on tap for today. I'm scared of Cardio Leg Blast, wish me luck on that one!

Peng, how did you and hubby do on your fitness goals for the week? And the calve raises actually didnt make me sore at all the next day. Next time I'm either going to do them off the back of my step or grounded but add hand weights. I'm going to increase the weight on the bicep curls and tricep curls next time as well, the weight for the hip thrust was just right. Two more 100 rep challenges to try out this weekend.

Andrea, ready to take another stab at AT??

Phat, feeling better yet?

heh heh no, not going to try AT again for a while, and I'm totally OK with that :)

Yesterday was a craaaaaazy day. Woke up at 4:20 to work out; did Basic Step (lol, I know) so that got done. When I went down to my workout room I let the dogs out, then I went to get them and Pinto was just sitting in the yard, wouldn't come inside, just sitting there looking at me funny. THEN, she started puking. She had done it the day before as well, and was acting funny, cranky, like she didn't feel good...well I went to work but didn't like the image I had in my head of her. I called the vet and was able to get her in as soon as I got home from work.

Her abdomen was tender and painful at the vet, so they did Xrays and referred us to the emergency specialty place, we went there for an ultrasound which ended up finally getting wrapped up around 10 pm and we got home around 11. They didn't find anything; gave us some ulcer meds and at least the assurance that she didn't seem to have any foreign material in her guts so that's good.

Moral of the story: getting up early to work out is a good thing I guess!

Today I'm cleaning, it's like springtime here today so that's AWESOME. Just spent about 20 minutes brushing Pinto and now it's time to vacuum up the rest of the Pinto hair....aaaaaugh that dog! At least they can stay out all day. Then KSU has a bball game this afternoon. Power Hour is on my to do list, never done it but I'm following the 12 week beginner to advanced rotation...but it may get done tomorrow which is supposed to be a rest day. I think today is a better rest day :)

oh and HEY it sure feels good to be home on a Saturday!

Andrea, glad your doggie is okay. Our pets are certainly our children arent they?! Good job on getting your workout done early!

I finished my planned workout. Cardio Leg Blast kicked my butt...and my thighs.....and my lungs....but had a great workout!! I used 3 lb's for the bent arm 100 rep lateral raise challenge and really did feel anything, may have to use 5's next time but we'll see.

Off to shower, and run errands.

Tomorrow is Xtrain Bi's/Tri's + abs + 100 Rep Scarecrows (for the rotator cuff....may have to see how these two 100 RC's are back to back, may rearrange that for next week). I'm loving my 5 day rotation so far though!!

Day 3 of a migraine. But I got the house vacuumed and somewhat straightened out today, plus brushed April and most of her teeth, lol. :p

Ravelry: patchworkpenguin's Yellow Duckie baby sweater Thought I'd share my latest baby sweater, and a fun fact. If you hold down the 'control' button on your keyboard while running the 'mouse wheel' up and down, it will change the size of the font on your screen.

Have a great weekend!

Andrea, sorry to hear about Pinto's problems but glad all is well.

Stacy, we are going to start next week {tues} since half the week was gone when I had the idea. Calf raises are always a problem for me, I usually do about half the number Cathe does and still end up walking funny the next few days, lol.

Just finished XTrain Bi's/Tri's + core + 100 RC Scarecrows. I'm starting to see some new definition in my arms so that is exciting. Weight hasnt budged though :(

I guess I'm cheering for San Fran and Baltimore. Andrea, I saw your bb team won yesterday, mine lost in the final seconds as usual.

Hoping to keep my snacking in check today.

just finished a long dog walk followed by Power Hour- I'm ready for some football and snacks! I have hummus, pita, carrots, guacamole, salsa, and those thin Tostitos Cantina style chips...very light so fewer calories right? ooh and some Guinness :)

Stacy- I saw that your team lost at the very end yesterday, and yes we won again! Tuesday night we play Kansas. That will be a tough game but at least it's at our house :)

Sorry about your migraines Peng, you know I am cursed with them as well. nothing else like them is there? :-( Hope you are over them soon and your little duckie cardigan is too precious :p

Phat, are you over your cruddy feeling? Hope you are and that you had a good weekend!

Andrea, how did you like Power Hour? I've always like the pace of that one. What is it about watching sports and eating snacks, it's the best....except for the calories, right?? Everything in moderation.

I'm feeling some tingling in my left hand and I know it's from the 100 RC Scarecrows (a rotator cuff exercise) I only used 3 lbs and the reps started burning somewhere around 30 which is where Cathe says it should, but I dont like this feeling. I'm doing to just omit them altogether instead of lowering the weight to 1 lb. I'll replace them with the 100 RC Calve Raises of my own.

My workout plan for the week...

M--rest day
T--Ilaria's Atletica Vol 3 + abs + 100 RC Hip Thrusts
W--Burn Sets Ch/Ba/Sh + abs + 100 RC Bicep Curls
Th--cardio of choice + 100 RC Tricep Extensions
Fri--rest day
Sat--XTrain Legs + abs + 100 RC Lateral Raises
Sun--Burn Sets Bi/Tri + abs + 100 RC Calve Raises

I might flip flop the 100 RC for Sat & Sun, we'll see how I feel those days.

Hubby and I ran errands today. A friend from my Knit Night is coming over this afternoon so Hubby can work on her car.

I set my Fitness Goals. I have to work out at least 3 times this week, No over-eating, and only one snack/treat per day.

Stacy, Ha! I have Burn sets scheduled for Wed also.

Andrea, no headache today!

Peng: You mean you GET to work out three times a week? hee hee Oh and glad to hear the headaches are gone.

Stacy: I'm pretty sore from Power Hour. I'm not used to a high reps workout; I did like it, but it was tough! Not sure if that was a mistake putting it in the first week of a beginner to advanced rotation. I'm thinking it didn't belong there! But glad I did it.

C&W step premix this morning, I didn't do abs as I ran out of time and had to go to work. Hubby and I just went out for pizza, I only had three slices instead of my usual four...eek!
