PROGRESS NOT PERFECTION: JANUARY 2013

Well, I have a headache today, thanks for sharing ;)

Andrea....glad I'm not the only one who can down 4 slices of pizza!

Peng....you can do 3 workouts no problem!
 
I got 'the shakes' twice today so I feel I need to go back on a 'small frequent meals' plan, but I did cut my portions down and didn't over eat. Hubby and I had a nice evening snack of baked cinnamon apples with a little ice cream.

I guess my bad attitude toward workouts is showing, lol. I'll try to be more positive. :eek::p
 
I'm definitely in a winter funk. didn't want to wake up this morning, sat on the couch petting my monsters instead of working out...only have easy total body sculpting on the rotation for today, will do it after work.

Peng I used to get the shakes pretty badly but don't anymore...hmmm...wonder why. hadn't even occurred to me. maybe I'm sleeping better?
 
It's 6 degrees outside!!! Brrrrr! Definitely a soup day, only it's too cold to go outside to go shopping, lol, but I will make it out.

I fell asleep pretty early and slept well and got up at 4am feeling energized. I did some playing around on the computer and then started my workout early so I'm done for the day and it's just after 7am...yay!!

I did Atletica Volume 4 + abs + 100 RC Hip Thrusts, that was still tough but a bit easier this time. This was my first time for Atletica, I think I picked good weights for most exercises, was still nursing my sore shoulder which actually feels much better today but didnt want to risk it. I skipped the last 5 floor exercises which were alot of plank type moves and pushups, each exercise was for a minute so I didnt feel I omitted too much.

I've been charting my workouts and so far this month this makes my 15th workout, not bad seeing as it's only the 22nd :) Too bad the scale is still the same number :( Just goes to show you cant exercise away a bad diet, but I'm feeling stronger nonetheless so it hasnt been for nothing.

Oops, I did Atletica Vol 3 not 4 (I dont have volume 4 which is a body weight workout)

Dinner is a recipe for chili soup, hubby doesnt like beans so I"m trying it with potatoes instead, I saw that idea in a similar recipe. It also has ground beef, tomatoes, red and green pepper, onion, green chilies, and spices. Sounds good for a frigid day!
 
Stacy, I made chili last week and were finishing off the leftovers on turkey hot dogs. Yum! Great job on all your workouts!

Phat, glad you are back.

Andrea, I'm feeling the same way. I didn't sleep well last night, then its cold, I'm tired, and I have a big to-do list today. sigh.
 
I did the timesaver premix of Cathe's new Hard Strikes. It was only about 40min but it was pretty fun. Nothing complicated but she does have some pretty fast changes between sets of moves. No warning and suddenly everyone {but me!} is doing something else. :p One little coughing fit and I could tell my lungs weren't up to snuff {ha, that was punny!} but that should improve as my sinus does.

I'm a little more than halfway through the list! making progress.
 
I need to pretend I'm going with you! lol

Total Body Sculpting today...easy but my muscles are still feeling power hour so i feel like a nice low key workout was a good idea.

KSU lost to KU by four measly points :-( Great game though.

Lol, Andrea I thought the same thing "I need to pretend I'm going to the wedding with Phat!" Are you sure we're not related?? Sorry about your bb loss, always another game. Are you a baseball fan??

Peng, did you get all your stuff done?

Phat....are you planning a particular rotation and/or eating plan? We'd be happy to join you!

I want to focus on my upper body and maybe lose 1-2 dress sizes. Does anyone have any suggestions? I will do some research and get back to you. I would like to start on Monday.

I did Cathe's Burnsets Chest, Back, Shoulder. I thought the 50min workout consisted of 3 sets of 10 then a burn set after each exercise. Thankfully, its only 2 sets of 10 followed by a set to 'failure' {"in this case failing is a good thing" ~Cathe}, and then at the end of each group of exercises for a body part is a 'burn set' which is usually weightless and high rep. The workout went by quickly and hit eveything well. The last group is shoulders so when we started the stretch with 'raise you arms above you head' my arms went 'What? is she kidding?":eek: I think I'd better keep stretching or I won't be able to move tomorrow.
 
Hey Peng I did XTrain BurnSet Chest/Back and Shoulders too!! I was able to up my weights on most exercises this time. I used 25's for chest presses and 20's for chest flies :) That's a new high for me! I then did abs and 100 RC Bicep Curls, I cant believe the girl in the workout (forgot her name) uses a 25 lb barbell for those!

Phat, how about Xtrain for the upper body?? I've also seen good results in the past with using CTX Upper body hitting back & chest twice a week and the "glamour" muscles sh/bi/tri's 3 x per week.

Ive had zero will power lately, dont really know why. With tank top weather coming up though now is the time! Maybe I need to post here and be accountable. I havent gained weight just been hanging out at the same number forever. I'd like to lean out my lower body, I have bad knees and over the years Ive avoided certain exercises but I've slowly been building up my strength, cutting back on step aerobics and now I'm able to do more impact and plyo. I just ordered Lower Body Blast, I plan on rotating that with the two XTrain leg workouts.

Andrea, I used to detest baseball too, but after I read up more about the nuances of the game I now watch it and see things I totally missed before. We have season tickets to the minor league team here. It is a slow sport but it's also nice and relaxing to goto the games and a chance to be outside. I spend so much time indoors with my job that I miss the fresh air and sunshine!

Leftover soup for dinner tonight :)
 
Stacy I think I will stick with xtrain. I already made the investment. It really does have everything I need.
 
Hi ladies!

so glad I worked out this morning. felt awesome once i got about five minutes in. You all are doing great...if I don't hear from you all for a couple of days I'll assume you lost use of your arms and therefore your hands :)
 
My arms are feeling great!! This morning I did the 100 RC Tricep Extensions, increased my weight from 5's to 8's this time but only did 20 reps before I went back down to 5's, felt a little too much of that burning feeling. Then I did 40 minutes on the treadmill, a 5 minute walking warmup and then for the remaining 35 min I jogged 2 min, walked 3 minutes. Legs, knees and lungs felt good!

I again saw some new definition in my arms today, specifically the tricep area, dont know if that was from the 100 tri ext's I did or if that is a new development that wont fade away by tomorrow morning!

I've decided to no longer do 2 of the 100 RC's...the scarecrows b/c they hurt my rotator cuff and the 100 RC lateral raises b/c I feel my shoulders get worked alot with other workouts I do (AT, Atletica etc). I'm sticking with the 4 following....100 Hip Thrusts, 100 Bi Curls, 100 Tri Ext, and 100 Calve Raises (made that one up myself)

Now to get my diet fine tuned so I can have some decent looking arms (and hopefull legs, but being a "pear" I"m not asking for miracles) come warm weather season!

Off for a long, grueling day at work :(
