Problems waking up in the morning...

I am not sure if this is the correct forum to post in, but anyway, I simply can NOT seem to get up in the mornings. I LOVE LOVE LOVE to do Cathe videos, but I do not do as much as I need to because every morning, when it is time to wake up, I feel as if someone drugged me and I can't move. So then I get ready for work at the last minute and if I do not do my cardio in the mornings, it does not get done.

Has anyone else gotten through something like this, and if so how ?

I do not believe it is a result of a physical issue. I get plenty of sleep and have been checked out by the doctor for potential issues.

THANKS SO MUCH !

EVERY d*mn morning! }( Seriously, you just have to force yourself. Once I'm up & full of caffiene I'm always so glad I did it. It's just the first 90 seconds or so of dragging my butt out of bed........

I usually give myself a good 15 minutes to drink a cup of coffe (or two :p ) and wake up a bit before I work out. It has taken me a long time to get back in the swing of exercising in the morning, but now I wouldn't have it any other way. Too many things happen by the end of the work day that I get home and would find an excuse not to workout. It also gets me going in the morning once I get started.

Get those endorphins going bright and early and you won't turn back. ;-)

I have been experiencing the same problem lately. I have come to the conclusion that my problem is a combination of it being summertime and the days are longer so I am staying up later (less sleep) and it is humid. I have been having the worst time getting up in the last few weeks and it has been very humid. Despite the fact that I have c/a, I think just having to deal with it during the day just wears more on my system. I have just learned it is a phase and ride it out by making time in the evenings to do a workout or just force yourself to get up like the previous posters suggested. Like Nike says... Just Do It! Good luck!!

I'm not a morning person either. But, I found that after I lost a few pounds and started eating better, it really made a HUGE difference in how much more energetic I am. Also, the more on a schedule I am (go to bed and get up at the same times), the better I do.

I am an afternoon exerciser b/c I don't have the "get up and go" in the mornings. It's just the way I'm wired I'm afraid - I don't see it changing anytime soon. I just listen to my body and exercise when I feel best, which is in the afternoon after work. It works best for me b/c I have more energy and burn off stress from the day's work.

Also, take a multivitamin every day and drink lots of water.

Sorry these suggestions sound so generic, but they really did work for me.:)

I am the same way as you. I tell myself every evening that I will get up at 5am and get my workout out of the way, but I keep hitting the snooze button and I get up the last minute and rush out the door.
I sort of gave up on the idea of working out in the morning and just do it around nine oclock when I get done with everything else.

I still do set my alarm clock for 5 in hopes that maybe one day......drives my hubby nuts.

Maybe you need to switch up your workouts? You might just be bored and unmotivated to do it. Order a new DVD or try running/walking outside for a change. :)

I sort of remember feeling the way you are describing after I had my babies and being semi-depressed and postpartum-y...I am NOT saying you are, but your description just fit me to a T. I was sooo unmotivated to get out of bed, but with crying babies, you absolutely must and I remember just feeling like a BIG slug.

I remember going to the doctor and saying the same thing - bloodwork was fine and I got sleep. And when I got the kids into daycare, I remember just napping to escape.

Please understand, I am in no way suggesting you are depressed...just giving you my personal experiences.

Things you really might need to examine are your diet and vitamins and water intake. I take Bee Pollen, Royal Jelly, super green vitamin, multi vitamin, and a joint fomula vitamin. Drink plenty of fresh pure water, not a bunch of those crystal light things. Also, I notice a MAJOR difference in my workout ability when I put good fuel in my tank the day before...lots of leafy greens, beans, oatmeal, egg whites, etc. Nothing makes me crapper than eating like a pig with a chocolate oreo addiction.

Talk with others about that too, just talking is a big problem solver for me.

I've had this same problem before. Do you drink water in the morning? If not, then have a large glass when you wake up...the drugged feeling could be dehydration. I drink a lot of water already but I find it helps alot in the morning when I felt that way.

Also, I used to feel tired all day everyday and started taking 30mg of CoQ10. This helped my energy level tremendously. I no longer feel like I am dragging all day like I did before.

I get that "I am so tired, I feel drugged" feeling the days after a high mileage week...when my body is working hard on recovery. Perhaps your body is busy rebuilding. Maybe consider helping it along by taking an additional rest day (or two) and making sure every bite is as nutritous as possible.

Still, get plenty of water...ALWAYS!!!

Agree that great nutrition and hydrating with water FIRST THING upon are key.... Also - If you normally get up at 6 try waking up just 10 minutes earlier - every 3 or 4 days increase it again by 10 minutes until your "normal" wake up time is 5am. Trying to go from current normal to a new normal can be challenging.
Good Luck & we AM exercisers look forwrad to having Cathe & coffee with you!:7
