Presidental Election

Just curious about who everyone is voting for this year and why.....is anyone else sick of seeing Hillary and Obama go at it? At this point i've decided im not voting...Dont really like any of them. Although if someone would say something concrete about gas prices I may change my mind....its $3.45 where im at....its ridiculous.

My grandfather drilled it into us that not only is it our civic duty to vote, but that if we do not vote, we do not have the right to complain. So I'll vote, if only to be able to complain later. :+

Not only am I sitting at home bored...but I wanted to hear everyone's opinion on it to see what issues people thought needed to be resolved and get an idea on who they thought best fits the bill cause I always end up missing the debates and am not really a political person to begin with...but I guess nobody wants to talk about it...

Heck, I will talk about it! Even though I know that the rule is never talk about religion or politics...I think we are adults that can respect each others viewpoints...well, I hope we can.

Its nice to stir and shake it up a bit. Don't like any of them in particular, but I do not like Obama...I think the reverend Wright and Oprah might rule the world if he gets elected :)-scary preacher man isn't he? Obama just does not impress me, although he is a tremendous speaker, but it takes more than that to rule the world doesn't it ...McCain is a little nutso--nuff said...so that leaves the lovely Hillary, who brings along the even lovelier Bill...hum.

I am enjoying the whole election deal though, its fun to watch how manipulative the candidates are...I will probably vote for Hillary at this point. I am not registered with either party...but at least you know what you are getting with the Clintons. They have both shown their arse in the past...the whole thing is crazy I tell ya. My DH really liked Fred Thompson, but he was so bad at speaking he blew it really early on. Anyway, I am not really into the whole political thing, but will vote...its one of the freedoms we enjoy in this country...in the end, I cast my vote for all of our brave and strong soldiers over the past hundreds of years who sacrificed so we have the right to vote and the right to voice our opinions.;)

I'm with you tneah. I don't really like any of them in particular, but I really don't like Obama. The man scares me. Once you start doing some serious digging into his past, it makes you wonder exactly "who" is this man. My DD worked for NSA for years and said that with Obama's history and connections he would never qualify for a security clearance to clean toilets at NSA. And here he's running for Pres... McCain concerns me too. Which just leaves Hil & Bill. Not sure what to do! ;)

>Anyway, I am not really into the whole political thing, but will vote...its one of the freedoms we enjoy in this country...

You said it Tneah!!! Regardless of anyone's views on any of the candidates, and we'll all have our own thoughts, please vote. My DH spent some time in South Africa when Nelson Mandela was released and was there for the elections. First hand he saw people walking for weeks and standing in line for 3 days just to be able to cast a vote!!!! That always brings it home to me.

<---feeling like an a** for saying im not voting.....ok ok you guys are right. But who? I would love to see Hillary's universal health care thing go through.

Thanks for the mental picture of why it's important for us to vote. People in other lands standing in line for 3 days when so many of us, (myself included at times) take this priveledge for granted.

I'm not crazy about any of the candidates but Hillary has my vote if she stays in long enough. If not... it would be McCain.

I know Hillary has her faults, ok.. many faults...but I do believe her desire to be President is so she can make a difference. I think she has wanted to make a difference since she was a student in college, filled with hope and optimism. I think the many years of politcs and being in the fray have shaped her and taught her how to manipulate to get what she wants but I think her heart still hopes. Call me crazy but I think at her very core, it's her passion for people and her loyaty to our Country that drives her.

I'm voting for Hillary. And I know people will argue with me about this, but when Bill was in office, our economy was in the best financial state in the history of our country. Now look at it.

I could care less who he or she sleeps with. Just run our country the way it should be.

It's funny that this question came up today. I just got back from having my hair done and the stylist asked me the same question. We both agreed that we didn't really like any of them that much. I will say that last couple of elections, I voted against someone rather than for someone. I'll wait to see who gets the nod, Hillary or Obama and make my decision from there.

thank you for that. I hate to think of how many potential leaders this country has lost because of fear of intense media scrutiny of personal lives of the candidate plus everyone in their family plus everyone they've ever had a connection to. The last 8 years have been a disaster for this country. I'll vote for whatever democrat is the nominee, though I prefer Hillary.

I'm an Obama supporter who will be voting democratic. I don't like Hillary, in fact, I like her even less as I've followed her through the primary process. But she and Obama match up about 90% in their approaches and views to policy. So whomever gets the nomination will have my vote.

I also like McCain, so I'm not terribly troubled by him being elected, I just have a massive problem with continuing this war. Our ecomonic state is in crisis, and we're just pumping money (that we don't have) into supporting a goverment that will not step up to the plate. Yes, we created the problem (correction: Bush created the problem, I did not vote for him.). But it's time to cut our losses and focus on the domestic front.

As for the Obama/Clinton issue. I hear a lot about Obama's "shady past", and you could make the same argument for Hillary. Maybe it's just because I'm a Chicagoan, and that's how politics go here. But I would happily vote for any candidate that is willing to say "I'm flawed" - and I get that from both of them.

No one is perfect, and no candidate should even try to suggest that. I believe that church and state should be completely different and should not factor into decision making on either front. I feel confident that neither Democratic candidate will let that happen.

I don't think that anyone I would really want to be president, no hesitation, would be able to go far in politics, because they would be crushed by special interest groups. (I would have voted for Kucinich!)

I will vote democratic (though the Green or Independant candidates probably are more in line with my politics, they would have no chance of winning).

I'm sure they all have skeletons in their closets, but I'll take Hillary's questionable financial pursuits over Obama's potential ties to terrorist groups and the mafia any day. And I'm still a little ticked about what he had to say about us Pennsylvanian "hicks" the other day. I believe we were characterized as gun totin', bible thumpin, anti-immigration, bitter Americans. >:l I wish I had switched my party in time so I could have voted for Hillary in the upcoming primary. Unfortunately, even with everything that's come out recently, I still do not think she will get the nom. :/

SO and I have had many conversations about how, ultimately, it always seems to boil down to the lesser of two evils come November.

I wish that I could feel some enthusiasm for any of these candidates. I just don't.

But, most likely, I'll go for Hillary if she's on the ballot and then Obama, if Hill doesn't make it. But, kinda grudgingly.

ITA Liann... Obama scares the crap out of me ... and I worry for our safety and for everthing America is supposed to stand for!!
