Preggo belly check in 7/5-7/11

I always thought you should fast for those? IDK, just follow the directions from your dr & you should be okay. I do know a few people who had to repeat,...so if you want to be on the safe side, just don't eat at least an hour before hand (or drink carbs).

Just got back from Chicago. They couldn't do chemo because there is a "significant amount of fluid on dad's lung. They also found a tumor but Dr. is not sure what it is. They want to do surgery in the next 1-2 weeks to remove the lining of the lung, drain it and see what else they find. Surprisingly my hormones aren't in a complete uproar right now but that could change any minute.

Hi!
Got my soup made and 3 batches of protein pancakes so Im good for a while on food. Lentil soup really helps me in the "movement" department. 14 grams of fiber in 1 serving!

Wendy-Im sorry your dad is going through this!! Hang in there

I know that I don't for this/didnt have to with Haley fast for the initial glucose test. I would just eat sensibly...good carbs and protien...no ice cream before hand..lol. I did have to go back for the fasting test and was then put on a special diet for 2 weeks...then went back for a 1st time test again and passed. I guess if one really has gest diabetes all the good eating and fasting really wont help.

Family is calling me..see you tomorrow

Thanks so much. Last night I did OK then I got online to see what the surgery entailed. Dad will have an epidural for 3-4 days after the surgery b/c of the pain. He'll need to be hooked up to oxygen, have a chest tube, etc. and the recovery will be about a month. It's more complicated than I thought. Not to mention that it will take place 3 hours away. How am I supposed to be a mom, go to work and be at the hospital at the same time? They are also in the process of building a 1 story home.

I went to bed and tossed and turned all night and now I have a pit in my stomach from worrying. My DH is telling me that I'm high risk already and I can't stress out over this. REALLY? What's the trick to that? See, I knew my mood would change any minute. Sorry, just had to vent.

Oh Wendy, Im soooo sorry you are going through this. I wish I knew the trick to not stressing, but in your situation I don't see a way around it. Its your dadddy and youre gonna worry....but Im sure your dad would want you to take care of yourself and baby, so do your best at taking it easy. Wish I had better advice!

Wendy- I am thinking of you and your family! Like Susan, its hard not to worry but your dad wouldn't want you to and wants you and baby to be healthy!

Allison- LOL to the cheese balls comment. I think my dr meant just directly before the test so that is why I really wasn't going to have breakfast until after. I wasn't going to worry about what I ate for dinner. Like Mel said, if you have ges diabetes than none of it will matter I guess.

Hi Susan! Can you come cook for me? ;) I need to start a list of things to cook before little one is born to freeze.

Waves to all!

Monring Jen!
I really enjoy cooking/baking...so sure I'll be over. Depending on what you like..I would make a few casseroles, soups etc. You'll really be glad you have stuff ready to cook and eat.

I had planned on weights today but I didnt sleep worth anything last night. No pains, just had a few wierd dreams and tossed and turned all night. I ended up doing Squeeze and have decided i just don't like that workout. I am up to 131.3 now. It so wierd seeing that weight!!!!!

Taking Haley to the library to see a magician, then her buddy is coming to play/swim. Tonight dh's friend from work is coming back over to help move more furniture. Im making lasagna!

bbl

Hey Susan! Yum lasagna! It's so funny to hear you talk about 131 being strange when I am looking at 151 right now. ;)

Ha! I started at 151. I'm pushing a scary number now -- even though I'm still under the 30 lb. mark.

Wendy, I don't know how you can avoid stress right now I think you're living one of the most stressful life experiences there is.

I wasn't allowed to take the glucose today, because I had 2 bites of last night's dinner on my way out the door at 7AM. Bah! They will do it at my next appointment in a few weeks, so I'm getting it done pretty late (I'll be approaching week 33).

A few weeks ago, we discussed what things one really needs in order to be ready for baby. I just finished going through all my 0-6 month clothes, to see what I can still use. This reminded me of another thing I need for baby!

Laundry detergent.

My pediatrician said there is no need to waste the money on Dreft. Any "free" detergent should fit the bill, and most "free" detergents are much cheaper than Dreft. Just thought I'd pass that along :)

HI
Allison-bummer about the glucose test. What time was your appt. They sure should of told you it was fasting. My appt is at 1..so I better call to make sure because if I have to fast my appt better be at 8!
Speaking of glucose...I had a run in with wayyyy too much sugar this afternoon so I decided to check my b/s just to see. It hasnt gotten over 95 so maybe Im in good shape this go round...its supposed to stay under 140 within an hour.

We are getting Kara's room ready and Im still so paranoid something is going to happen. Im happy..then afraid to be happy and so on. I don't know if I could handle it if anything happened. Sorry to be a downer...I just can't help but worry!!!
Enough of that!!

DD is playing with her friend...lasagna in the oven...fudge pie made! Productive day.

lasagna in the oven...fudge pie made! Productive day.

Hmmmmm, fudge pie. Do share the recipe for that one!!

I was surprised about the glucose test. My appt was at 8:30. They told me I should have stopped eating at midnight. After replies here, I googled my question. The pregnancy site I visited said no need to fast for the 1 hour, but you must fast if you need the 3 hour one. Oh, well.

I get paranoid about something happening too. I am happy to be beyond the 28 week mark, and happy for each additional week the bambino stays put. I don't know that I want to go the full 40 weeks (!), but I certainly hope he hangs out in there for at least 8 or 9 more weeks ;)

Dinner was great..I am stuffed. Allison..the fudge pie is sooo easy. Its a crustless pie that freezes very well. My step mom always has one in her freezer cut in slices...micros it for a few and puts ice cream on it..yum!

1/2 cup butter
2 squares unsweetened chocolate
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/4 cup all purpose flour
pinch of salt

Melt the butter and chocolate. In separate bowl mix the sugar and eggs. Add the flour and salt. Add the chocolate mixture to the sugar mixture. Pour in an ungreased pie pan. Bake @ 350 for 20-22 min.

Everything I read said no fasting for the 1 hour too..oh well..what do we know right??
I am 26 weeks today!! Only 1 more week in the 2nd trimester.

Hi Jen, Melanie, Dawn, Christine, Pricilla, Kristine, Wendy.

I guess every dr is different cause my doc said no reason to but if I have to do the three hour test, then I will have to.

I will definitely try that fudge pie! Thanks Susan!

I still worry about something happening...I don't think it will ever stop now. Part of becoming a mommy, I suppose.

Good night all! I am sleepy!

Good AM ladies. I have my dr's appt this AM,.....2 hour ride,....so I'll be gone until this PM. I'm guessing I've hit the 20-lb marke on weight gain. I've popped pretty far out & strangers are reaching their hands out. Funny, when I was younger I hated that. I love it now.

Big K had a GIGANTIC toy sale yesterday. An additional 50% off already clearanced merchandise. I filled my trunk up with toys!! I only spent $140,...but got close to $500 worth of stuff. Christmas toys!! LOL

I had a creepy guy at the pharmacy I had to FINALLY tell off. He hangs around forever & makes several of us feel uncomfortable. Well, "pregnant Mel" does not have patience,......and I had to stand up to him (b/c noone else ever does). I told him that he needed to leave, that he was harrassing us, and if he would not leave I would have him removed by security. The dork made a "formal" complaint with the store manager. I didn't get into trouble or anything, but this will probably mean a chain of paperwork (worth it if he leaves us alone).

Alrighty,....best get my butt on the road. I think I'll kidnap Justin to take with me. :D :D

Waves to all!!!!!!!

Morning!
Mel-cant wait to hear about your appt!
Jen-hope you got some good sleep!

I slept average...not bad, not good.

Cardio on tap for today. Probably just a walk. I need to pack too. DD and I are going to Mississippi this weekend to see my mom and attend VBS at my hometown Church. On Monday I go tour the Dental Hygeine dept and Im excited about that. I will be home on Tuesday. I have a lot packed into a few days.

bb after my workout!

Can't wait to hear about your appointment Mel!

Hi Susan! Hope you have a safe trip in Mississippi! Slept like a baby, thanks! ;)

At work today and hopefully DH is coming to take me to lunch for some Mexican! Yum! Then we have the whole weekend off together and will order our crib finally! I don't think we will have it delivered until September though cause we are still going to be doing a few more renovations and using James's room as storage and I don't want it to get damaged.

Happy Friday to all the preggos!
