Please Stop This Trend!

Liann, you're my new BFF. :D

I'll be 54 on my next birthday and I have a vivid recollection of the 1960's.

Michele - I swear you don't look like you could be out of your 30s!!! Although, at this point I don't see 54 as being all that old anyways. My brother n' law just turned 50 and I still think of him as a "kid"!

I was too short for ALL my jeans back then and had to roll them up, pegged or not! but would never go back... NEVER!!!

I do recall a few years back, and maybe it still happens, but girls were not exactly rolling them up, but just turning them up... 6 inches or more??? What's up with that?

Apparently I have no sense of style...

My DD looks so cute in leggings! Of course, she's just about 11, is 4'9" tall and weighs 62 lbs with legs up to her armpits, so she looks good in anything, really:p

This was a trend in some places in the early 1990's. Example: when I went to college in 1990 at Purdue, EVERYONE did this. When I came home to Dallas on break, NOBODY did it. (I learned to be very perceptive of how jeans were worn and wore mine according to where I was, LOL.)

I think this trend might take off because even Reese Witherspoon is doing it (but on her, with her cool boyfriend jeans, it looked kind of good, I dare say.)

Ewww. I cannot believe SJP. I'm so disappointed in her. That trend should definitely be left in the 80s along with Aquanet and stirrup pants (which also are making a comeback). Blech!

Though SJP's shoes in that pic are bitchin'!

Oh.My.God. That's like a skinny jeans/stirrup pants combo, which is akin to marinating calves liver in Kool Aid. EW!

Pegged jeans, stirrup pants, neon colors, gummy bracelets up to your elbows, gaudy plastic jewelry, and hairdos that are so hideous I'm not sure there's an easy way to describe them  I have a feeling these trends may all come back to haunt us someday!!

Hang on to your fashion sense ladies! Do not allow yourself to stray :p

Words to live by!!! :) Remember the gummy bracelets that had water inside of them and sparkles and you could shake it up and watch the sparkles move around. I do miss those! ;)

I remember the 80's but perhaps this trend did not reach me, because I had no clue what this was. Of course, I tend to never follow trends.

I just have one question regarding that picture of SJP...why do celebrities' outfits always look like a thrift store exploded all over them? I'm all for casual and funky but these folks must get dressed in the dark.

Sparrow

I have a friend who was still wearing stirrup pants under sweaters just a couple years ago (might still be doing it but I only see her in the summertime now).

Lol, too funny, I remember doing that to my jeans. I owned some stirrup pants, too...never again, lol.

Did you raid my closet? LOL!
I used to have a pair very much like those back in the early 90's (as well as some tunic tops and leggings that I thought looked pretty good together (one of my students at the time even wrote on an evaluation that I dressed "cool"!)

It's not just rolling the bottoms of your pants up. ;) To do the peg correctly, you actually pinch the one side of the bottom of the pant leg and fold it over on itself and then roll it up. If you do it correctly, it it super tight around the bottom of your leg. I could never get it right. ;)

OMG! That was my method, too, Liann! ;) Wow -- I'm scared to see this style come back . . . . :p

OK, OK...I am actually NOT going to roll mine up...there was a pic of Posh in Becks jeans, NOT rolled up, just cute and baggy...I am all about that look cause quite frankly? I have muscular/short legs and the baggy jean look is kinda cute on me..Those are the pair that I hunted down and bought...I know I am not 90 pounds like Her Highness, but think this might be cute with a tight tee and flip flops.

I'm seeing the folded up jeans and the skinny pants all over the place. I well remember the days of being a slave to fashion and am very glad to have severed those shackles!

I think SJP was just trying to avoid being recognized in that pic and was caught unawares. I doubt she would hide her fab bod under frumpy clothes for a real public appearance.

ETA: I just have to add that I do not get the new style of shoes. They are just plain butt ugly. :p
