Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 8/21

Deb...My son and I were talking last night and we wonder if it was Chlorine. I put chlorine in the pool right before I left. I was handling the 3inch tablet that came in a single serve pack. When opening I bet some of the powder flew on me. Even though I washed my hands the powder was still around. That stuff is very concentrated. This makes sense to us. I think the machine does not define the chemical. Just as some thing that could be use for bombs was detected. The workers thought it may be my skin care/makeup.

Having coffee right now then Nick and I are off for a power walk for our exercise for the day. We leave at 1pm so no plans today other than some pool time.

Good Morning Everyone,

Yesterday I did a Spinerval. It was a high intensity interval workout, called "The Pain Cave". The main part of the workout is 6 90 second intervals with 30 seconds rest. I went as hard as I could and got my heart rate up to 167 for the intervals. I rode a little more afterwards for a total time of 90 minutes and a calorie burn of 598.

Deb-We are going to look at a few more houses tomorrow. I did get the email from NG yesterday. It must have been a mistake unless they are doing it over again.

Lori- I am thinking about doing STS again too. You are probably right about the Chlorine. That would have been stressful, but it is good that they are that thorough.

Lynda-I like the idea of using the tower in different ways too. That pork tenderloin recipe does sound good!

Diane Sue- Happy Birthday! I might pick up some walnut oil. I think Fresh Thyme has it. I love the macadamia nut oil, but with it being so hard to get I should find a substitute.

Valerie- I love Indian food! It's been ages since I've had it. I should try making something again.

Carolyn-great job with the weight loss! Cathe's rotations are challenging. I always save them but still haven't done one.

Hi to Josie!

Judy

Deb I buy coconut aminos at Sprouts. Most stores like Whole Foods sell it. I have ordered from Amazon before. The smaller city we used to live in had a smaller health store and the owner orders some to stock on their shelves since a lot of people were looking for alternatives. They didn't have it till I asked for it. I have seen them in stores like homeland too. It is just sometimes hard to find what part of the store to look in.

This morning I did Les Mills Combat Ultimate Warrior, 305 calories, followed by Core Attack, 19 minutes, 71 calories. Total time was 72 minutes and calories 376.

Deb, we had a nice dinner last night and yes I did get the artichoke parmesan. Bill had ordered me flowers to be sent to the restaurant and they did not show up. He was not happy about that. I guess he will be calling them.

Lorie, I am sure that was not a pleasant airport experience. I bet you are right about the chlorine. We missed a flight once when we went to Cancun, but it was because we miscounted our 10 day stay and ended up staying 11. I guess we were having so much fun we forgot we had to leave.

Judy, I love using nut oils for my dressings and mayonnaise. I wish they were good for higher heat cooking. Walnut oil is a good substitute when you cannot find macadamia oil.

Hi Everyone,
No workout today. I went to the farmers market and took care of other errands. We have a new Sprouts in this area now and I have gone there several times. I got grass fed beef from a farmer from North Carolina but I am glad to know that Sprouts has it. I do Cathe rotations but I definitely modify them when necessary. I also like Kelly Coffey Meyer. I have been tempted to try Suzanne Bowen, but I hated Turbobarre and have avoided other barre workouts.
Garance, that pork tenderloin sounds delicious! I'm going to try it soon. Hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend.

Deb, if you have those NG recipes in pdf, I'd love to take a look. DH is really not that picky, but he does seem to have problems with certain spices lately. he has the head of the bed elevated, is taking antacids etc. I have adjusted cooking so I add any heat to my portion at the end.
Judy, if they are doing it again, let me know. I think I was in Oregon when they did it last time.

Deb, the Indian refrigerated simmer sauce does not show on costcos website. I'll get the brand next week when I shop. It was easy, and I got the indian flavors without making my kitchen smell like curry.
one Costco item is madras lentils. it's in a shelf stable pack, just heat and eat. I had some for lunch today over some rice. DH had a turkey burger because he doesn't like the seasoning.
I try to find some things that are quick and easy but without "fast food" calorie counts. today, we decided to ride 25 miles, 2 hrs 10 min. and it was windy so it was harder than usual. we got home at 11:45 hungry. I use frozen vegie or black bean burgers sometimes, but the Morningstar farms ones are not as good as they used to be. they changed ingredients and don't have as much flavor. so it's a scramble and a time when I want something easy but not loaded with calories.
Diane sue, what are coconut aminos? does it taste like soy or tamari? I don't use a lot of tamari but it adds such a nice flavor. I have coconut oil but don't like it for cooking. coconut oil has a funny mouth feel to me in some foods. Avocado oil is supposed to be a good cooking oil because it has a high smoke point. I used one bottle. It seemed fine. I don't use that much oil other than olive oil.

Oh no Lori now you will be tagged as a potential terrorist!... (Tee hee!). Ever since we came thru customs at the Canadian border with "illegal" red bell peppers, we've been searched thoroughly!
