Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 8/21

Good morning ladies. Today I did Great Glutes. I worked out earlier because I have Weight Watchers this morning. I have been a WW member since 1988, but I go up and down in my weight. I had breast cancer in 2012 and started tamoxifen that year. That caused me to gain weight that I am trying to lose. When I was still working I would get up at 4:15 to work out. I don't do that anymore, but I like to workout early. Have a great day.

Deb, usually you do not use a regular plumber. My Bill (my husband) talked to our usual plumber who gave a couple of things to try that did not work to stop the sound of running water. He gave us the number of one he uses that has the leak detecting equipment. There was no wet areas inside or outside the house but, you could hear water running and the meter was moving fast. When this happened at another house it was just a tiny hole. They located it, took out 2 foot of tile, cut out the piece of pipe and put in a new piece. Put concrete back over it and we replaced with a new tile which we luckily had. They had to jackhammer the concrete spot. You need someone good for that. This time it ended up being under the floor where the shower is and running to the toilet. They figured out a less costly way to fix it so we did not have to tear out the shower. We have a wall to repair in the cabinet in the smaller bath area and behind the toilet because they gave the toilet a separate line and then they had to take tile off of one end of a tiled ledge by the tub that gave access to the wall by the shower and used some sort of pipe that they were able to run through and underneath the shower for another connection. 2200 dollars later it is fixed.

We did the ride with cousin and wife. 10 miles. DH and I felt like we did absolutely nothing, while they were exhausted, sweating, puffing and panting. Really really obvious what a difference regular exercise makes. that was the furthest they've ridden so we are proud we motivated them..it's been a long trek. the brompton bikes are very expensive but also very solidly made. not for us but they work well for cousin. they live in a condo with limited storage space. these fold up and disappear into a closet, and fit in the car trunk easily. no need for a rack. the small wheels make it easier for cousin's wife who is just learning to ride. it's a very upright riding position and hell on the sit bones, but they don't do much mileage. I doubt they will do 30 mile and up rides so these work. I don't know how well they work on hills. neither of them will become serious riders IMO.
Puss is a sweetie!. even when it's hot he lies in the sun. he never wound himself through the pleated shade before. Lynda, his back legs are sticking out behind him, his head and front legs stick out the other side, and his mid section is in the sun between the blinds and the slider. I didn't turn on a light because I thought he'd move for sure as soon as I did, so it's a dark pic.

yesterday we did a hike, 7 hours. it is a moderate trail that connects to a steep climbing route. gets us away from almost everyone. didn't see anyone until we were much of the way down, and then just 2 older women. it was a beautiful day, cool and breezy. we saw 3 grouse. today DH just left for a bike ride. I said no. after we get back from a hike, I still have to make dinner and clear the kitchen and this morning I am just too tired. I might do some upper body weights later, legs get a break.
I used to have the upstairs bedroom at home when I was a teen. it got incredibly hot up there! Awful. I was working part time and bought a window air conditioner fit in an up/down window. I was so happy when I turned it on and cooled the room down. then the neighbors complained it made too much noise and it became a battle when I wanted to use it.

I've been taking glucosamine for years. when I've stopped it, I don't notice any difference at all. but I still keep it up just because maybe? it helps. I dropped calcium when I started using skim milk for my lattes. I get a lot of calcium and really should not need supplementation and now it seems too much calcium is not a good thing.

Interesting that the people who make epi pen are coming under fire for obvious price gouging. I wish pharmaceutical companies had to face some regulation. not everyone has insurance, and even those may have a high deductible so it's all out of pocket.

diane sue, yes, having young people call you ripped is impressive!. I have significant muscle.... but I eat too much so it doesn't show ! it's buried! I still bake quite a few things but I divide and freeze so DH gets to eat it and I'm don't. I get one forkful of something like a cinnamon roll so I can taste but that's it. crappy metabolism.
Plumbing ...who would have thought plumbers can charge what they do. we just had a main intake valve replaced and it was costly.

Welcome Carolyn.

Today I did Kelly Coffey Amped Up Cardio both workouts combined, 57 minutes, 364 calories(Fit Bit) It was 383 map my fitness and using the 140 bpm average the calorie calculator gave 481. I used Fit Bit. It was the same calories that I had the first time I did this workout with the Polar HR7. I then did Burn Sets Back 14 minutes, and used map my fitness which gave me 80. The Fit Bit had it at 43. I wanted to do abs so I did Kelly Coffey Slim Sculpting premix abs/core 32 minutes and used map my fitness 114 calories. Fit Bit had I at 96 and calorie calculator had it at 153 which really is what I had logged previously on my fitness pal using my other devices. I used 15 and 20 # kettle bells for this ab workout. I finished off with STS Extended stretch, 14 minutes, using the calorie calculator, 33 calories. Fit Bit had it at 16 calories. Map my fitness gives too high calorie burns for things like stretching and yoga most of the time. It had it at 88. I can tell a lot just from past experience and different devises. Calories burned today was 591.
Burn Sets Back
1 arm row 35# ; 35; 35 10; 10; 10 reps
dumbbell rows both 25# 25# 25# 10, 10, 12 reps
rear delt flys seated 15#; 15; 15 10, 10, 14
superman
I am getting a feel for the fit bit and think I know where to make adjustments from now on.

Lorie, I have never done an Amy Dixon workout. Tabatacise does take a lot out of you. I am holding off a bit for my leg workout after that one. Usually when I have jury duty they do not want to use me and after a couple of days they let stay home. I think once I had a 3rd half a day but ended up waiting till my husband got off so he could pick me up.

Judy, I will enjoy hearing your thoughts on the Fit Tower and workouts.

Carolyn, I used to get up at 4:00 a lot when I had my children at home and did daycare. Now it is more like 6:30 to 7 and I sit and enjoy my coffee and some reading before I go workout. I still look back and wonder how I stayed dedicated to some of those schedules. When my husband did shift work I would work out sometimes at midnight and turn around and get up bright and early for daycare and seeing my children out the door. It makes me tired thinking about it now. I like it when I get up early though and everything is so quiet and peaceful.

Valerie, when I bake cookies and baked stuff I freeze some as well. Since my husband is on a diet I have not been baking other than for birthdays or taking some muffins or coffee cake to my daughters for Sunday brunch. We just have fruit and veggies for snacking. It makes me happy. I cannot believe that someone would complain about an air conditioner. I really think that is wrong. The other house that we had to replace a pipe in the floor in also had to have a sewer line replaced because of tree roots. Boy did that tear up the yard with them digging and backhoeing the yard. It cost a bundle. The house was owned before us by a doctor and his wife. They had remodeled it all southwestern and had top of the line cabinets that were done in the southwest design. I think they spent their time on looks and not repairs. We had multiple things to fix right after moving in.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did Cardio Boxing with Stability Ball Abs live (48 min.).

Welcome, Carolyn! I work out in the early morning too, but early for me getting up is 6:15. I taught for 40 years too before retiring in 2012. I will be 70 in November.

Deb, Cardio and Weights has no step. It's a fast-paced circuit workout. Cathe has 8s, 10s, and 12s out and tubing. She puts together a 12 and a 10 for one-arm rows. I prefer 1 dumbbell at 25 lbs. No, we are having the kitchen cabinets repainted. The original paint started crazing almost immediately (never buy Ultracraft cabinets!!!) and we had a short history of them replacing individual pieces and a long history of them refusing to stand by their product. We found a local guy who matched the color beautifully and explained to us that the glaze they have over the color is what caused the problems. Our cabinets are duller, but they look beautiful, and no crazing.

Valerie, now I see what Puss is doing. Clever fellow!

Diane Sue, I did jury duty for one case that lasted almost 3 weeks. What a pain! It was a civil suit involving a land deal of some kind. Bad blood between the litigants and endless cross-examination of a couple of the people on the stand. Blech! Sounds like you are in for a lot of noise. Kim used to do firewood and his wood processor was really noisy. I would close all the windows facing in his direction.

Lori, I have never done an Amy Dixon workout either. Sounds too tough for me.

Judy, you will have to give us a review of the workouts that go with the tower.

Lynda, I would hate to sit through a civil suit. It seems like something that would be hard to sit there and follow.

Carolyn, I have a question for you.... if you are up for this challenge!. I tried to rejoin WW last fall, Nov, and managed to hit right when they were changing from points plus to whatever it's called now. I thrashed with it for a couple months but never could get anything to work. the program, things you entered disappeared, argh! plus, I lost all the data from my previous point calculations, all my recipes with ingredients and point values disappeared. I had put in many hours to enter that data and to say I was po'd is mild.
what can you say about how things are working now? how diligent you are about counting points? I did well on pp but never could get going on the newer program. it seemed so unfriendly to vegetarian recipes using grains. point values went thru the roof. pp dishes that were 6-7 points suddenly went to 12+ and although I got more points overall, I could never it to work for me. I don't mean jelly doughnuts but quinoa, brown rice lentils, beans etc. just wondering... I've thought about another run at it but I eat very little meat, a little fish and chicken breast is it.

Good evening ladies!

This morning was SB Feel Good Arms and Cardio followed up with Ruthless Lunatic Intervals. Lunch was a Cathe Barre and Bands workout I made up for the ladies.

Carolyn...congratulations on beating cancer! That is awesome. My friend just went through breast cancer and received a clean bill of health on Monday. She will be taking tamoxifen I think for 5 years. Weight Watchers is a wonderful plan. I have friends that love it and swear by it. Since we are throwing our ages out I will be 55 in September.

Diane Sue....I hope you have that leak under control. I meant to comment when you posted. Always seems like there is something. Great workouts. What variances in calorie burns! I think my Polar gives a better reading than my Apple Watch.

Valerie...working out and being fit does a lot for you. I have friends my age and younger that everynow and then they want to workout with me and I am amazed at what I can do and how they are struggling. I am amazed because from working out regularly something I think is easy they are cursing. Good for them starting to become active. If they keep it up they will just improve as they go.

Lynda..wow teaching for 40 years. That is wonderful. The cabinets sound very nice! The Amy Dixon workouts are tough. She does have 2 mondifyers which is nice. One does a beginer style move, the other does the advanced. Amy shows a high intermediate. When I do these I do a combination of her and the advanced depending on the move. Has been a while since I have done these. Since Cathe Live and SB Streaming - seems like this all all I do!

Judy...no Fit Tower yet. I emailed them on Monday asking if it has shipped and I was told to contact them because there was an issue with my order. I was having it shipped to my work address and they said they had a lot of problems sending things to another address other than the cc used address. Whatever! They could have contacted me to let me know. So I am having it shipped to my home and it just shipped out today so will not be here it until next week. When on the phone with them I was real close to cancelling. Now that Cathe announced she is not making dvd's anytime soon I am really disappointed. That was my main reason for ordering.

Deb...when the Fit Tower ever does make it to Massachusetts I'll send you the dvd's. I will watch them before doing so though. Curious to see what they are all about. There are no premixes to the 10 pounds down better body blast. Just the three 20 minute workouts plus 1 that combines them all for a 60 minute workout. I checked Ebay and they have it for cheap money. I am loving lighter weight high rep workouts at the moment.

Have a great night all!!

Hi Everyone,

I spent most of the morning cleaning and doing laundry. I was going to try out the Fit Tower workouts tonight, but I think I will do it tomorrow instead. I do like the look of the tower. It was very easy to put together and is quite sturdy.

Lori-I'm sorry about your Fit Tower. It seems odd that they didn't contact you first. I hope Cathe makes more dvds for the tower. That would be very disappointing if she doesn't.

Carolyn-I also used to get up at 4:15 to work out. It's been a while since I did that but I do like to workout early most days. I will be 54 in December.

Diane Sue-Great workouts! I need to do the new Kelly workout, I just haven't gotten around to it. Maybe later this week.
Very impressive weights for Burn Sets Back!

Lynda-wow, I didn't realize you taught for 40 years! That is awesome! I will post a review of the Fit Tower workouts tomorrow.

Valerie-That's great that your cousins rode 10 miles. I'm sure it was challenging for them but great that they started. I can't imagine hiking for 7 hours! Great job!

Hi to Deb & Josie!

Judy

Good morning,

Yesterday I walked at the track with my cousin. Also finished taking the wallpaper off the front hall. Whew...that last bit was tough. Next is the half bath...

Carolyn, so you go to the actual WW meetings, that great. Lots of people do the online one now. ( Valerie that posts here is one). Before I retired, I used to get up at 4:30 to workout before work as well. As for age, I am 63.

Diane Sue, Wow that sounds like a huge job. Lots of $$....I always said that plumbers will have jobs forever. Along with electricians! Meant to ask, I signed up for emails from Abel James...he is offering a free bottle of olive oil that is supposed to be so fresh etc....have you ever taken advantage of his free stuff? is it for real or are you expected to sign up for his 30 program?

Valerie, that is so nice that you take the cousins out for a ride. Keegan also loves lying in the sun beams that come into the living room. Sometimes I can't see him, and find him behind a big settee we have in a sunbeam. I think the glucosamine helps me a lot. I have pain in my hip joint and when I take it, the pain goes away. It comes back when I stop taking it. This whole epi pen thing is horrible. John said he read somewhere that they are talking about requiring the airlines have 2 on board every plane.. The cost is outrageous, and the fact that only one company can make them.

Lynda, thanks for the info on the workout....I had never heard of Ultracraft cabinets, but will sure keep that in mind.

Lori, thanks for the info on that DVD and Ebay...I went over and purchased for $6.33 inc shipping! I saw it was on sale right now on totalfitness (I like to use Mary over there...she is great.)...but the Ebay was a better deal. I agree and would be pi**ed as well...Cathe should have included a new Tower DVD in this current group she announced...so that those that ordered it could get one that is up to her level. Thanks again for the DVD's....your puppy will be getting a new puppy size tug toy. :).

Judy, anxious to hear your review of the Tower workouts. I am pretty sure they are no way as tough as SB.

Hi to Josie,

A workout, and since it is pouring here (Yay!)...some inside project...not going to start that wallpaper removal in the half-bath....I need to recover from the hall project. :).

Take care,

Traildoggie, the initial period with new WW program had challenges with the technology upgrades and changes. They had to get a new vendor and rewrite the program for the app. It works very well now. The problem that you had with recipes and favorite foods disappearing was cleared up and most of my recipes are back, but not all. It is my understanding that because of the way points are calculated now, some recipes or foods did not transfer. They didn't have all required nutrition information. I track all of my food using the ipad or my phone and it is easy and quick. I really like the new program (after my initial adjustment) because of the focus on eating less sugar and saturated fats. Grains definitely went up in points, but my daily points allowance also increased. You might like it now that the glitches are cleared up.
Carolyn

Lorie, I spent a lot of time researching reviews and tests others have done on heart rate monitors and they all have some area th a t they are not accurate in. But, they are great motivators and do help keep on track.

Judy, I have done Amped Up cardio several times now and really like it. I am glad to hear the tower is easy to put together and sturdy.

Deb, I find most of those free things end up getting you signed into something. The olive oil is an auto ship program. You get a bottle free. I am sure it is good. I have had some oils like some avocado oil that was obviously bad from the start. It was my first bottle and I was pretty sure that I was not going to like avocado oil. I later bought a bottle at Sprouts for roasting vegetables and it was really good. It does seem to age faster than it should though. I spent some time reading longivity of oils. I generally will not hit sales on oils and some other things because I figure they are needing to get them sold off of their shelves. I have seen free books and dvd's as well, you pay the shipping. I never want to give out my info to get that stuff. If they can't just give a free download or pdf I figure it is a gimmick.

Good Morning,
Today I did RWH Low Impact HiiT Two and the Extended Stretch from STS. I like that stretch because it is a short yoga like stretch.
Deb, yes I go to the WW meetings which works best for me. WW also has the Connect feature where members get support online . It is like their version of Facebook. I like that too. Diane Sue, I love to track my exercise data with my Fitbit Charge HR. I have used a Polar heart rate monitor with a chest strap for many years. I was actually using both the Fitbit and Polar during workouts until a few weeks ago. The Polar is more accurate with heart rate, but the Fitbit was close. My polar needs a battery and I am not using it now. I have learned that the Fitbit has more features than I realized even though I have had it since last Christmas. You ladies are a great inspiration to me which is why I was always lurking! Have a great day.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did live Compound Giant Sets (42 min.). I really like this one--all you need is 8 lb. dumbbells, but by the third round, you can really feel it.

Deb, I would have liked a tower workout too included in this new set. Maybe something with both barre and pull ups like those in STS. So are you going to get wallpaper again or paint? That sounds like a lot of work.

Carolyn, I love those low impact hiit workouts from that series. I did them a lot--like the Sweat workouts.

Judy, yes, I was the first woman hired in the English Dept. at Williams in 1972. It had just gone co-ed, and I guess they didn't think women could teach male students, because there were no women faculty here. The place has changed a lot since those bad old days. I really don't know how I survived, except that my male colleagues in the English Dept. were very supportive. Other new women hires in other departments were not so lucky. Out of the 12 women they hired that year, I was the only one who was later tenured.

Lori, I know how much you love SB, but I can't seem to do anything but Cathe these days. I will have to check what she did this morning and see if it's worth a try. Last week was too tough for me.

Valerie, maybe WW will work better for you now that the system is working better. I remember how frustrated you were.

Diane Sue, I agree with Judy--very challenging weights for your back. I couldn't do that I'm sure.

Hi Everyone,

This morning I did all 3 Fit Tower workouts. Each workout has a warm up and a cool down stretch. Each one also follows the format of lower body, upper body, and core. The lower body work is mostly barre, similar to Turbo Barre, just not as many reps. There are also a couple of moves using the loop band. The upper body work is using the bands and variations of pull ups and push ups using the Fit Tower. I really liked the push ups on the tower.

The first dvd, “Slim & Trim”, is the beginner workout and is 36 minutes long. The exercises are very basic and easy in this one. It would be a good one to do for an active rest day, or when coming back from an injury or illness. The second one, “Long & Strong”, is the intermediate workout and is 33 minutes long. This one feels more like a Cathe workout, maybe similar to ICE or a shorter Turbo Barre. The last one, “Lean & Mean” is the advanced workout, 34 minutes long. It also felt similar to an ICE workout. I think all of these are geared toward people new to Cathe, so there wasn’t anything too extreme or difficult. The total time was 1 hr & 43 minutes and calorie burn on my Garmin was 363.
Overall I am very happy with the new Fit Tower and the workouts. The tower was very easy to set up and I like it better than the old tower. I also like the bands and mat that came with the unit. It would be great if Cathe could make some DVDs just for the tower, but it sounds like that might be a while :(

Lynda-that is impressive to be the first woman hired there. I do know what you mean about the bad old days. It was very difficult to be a woman working in a man's world. I did that for almost 20 years, and I still look back and wonder how I survived that long.

Deb-I would say the workouts were not as tough as SB. I'd say they were most similar to Turbo Barre with less reps.

Carolyn-I used Polar HRMs for many years. They are very accurate with heart rate. I switched to Garmin about 10 years ago because they had GPS watches and I was doing more running then. The Garmin HRMs are pretty close to Polar for accuracy.

Diane Sue-I use macadamia nut oil and am having a hard time finding it locally. Now brand used to have one that I could get from the health food store but they discontinued it. I've been ordering another brand online and it's been hit or miss for quality. I've had to return a bottle that was rancid and I've gotten some that was very close to expiration date.

Thanks for the info Carolyn. I had done points plus a year previous. PP was still "sort of" working, but a whole load of new things happened without explanation. I couldn't have rejoined at a worse time! no one knew what worked or what didn't, or where to get an answer. they gave me some extra free time at the end of the 3 month sign up, but nothing was working and I didn't continue. I'm stable weight wise, but would like to lose a few pounds. I don't eat much sugar or sat fat but I eat a lot of complex carbs that I simply must eat... it is most of my diet as I am mainly vegetarian. I might look again for a WW meeting locally. 2 yrs ago there wasn't but maybe something exists now. I never got the phone program to work, but I have a new i-phone now. I may have more questions for you about this as time goes on.

we did a 2 hr mountain bike this morning, about 7 miles.

Lynda, wow 40 years is a long time!.I was one of the first (medical) female sales reps hired back in the early 70's. wow, yes, there were difficulties. I did OK, there for 18 years. moved on to become a technical trainer. I don't think the young women realize these days how difficult things were, many times where you least expected them. then suddenly the marketplace changed, and everyone got sacked. never got back into the industry after that and really, there were few jobs available. mainly I was 'too old".... I was 45. companies wanted to hire people in their 20's and made no secret about it.

I use mostly olive oil and a little canola when I think olive taste might be noticeable. I used a bottle of avocado oil and liked it, but Costco doesn't always have it. their turnover is brisk so no issues with short dates.

I can't imagine spending $600 a year, & maybe more, to be prepared for an emergency with an epi -pen. If you are severely allergic you would want more than 2, and then they outdate every year! with kids especially, you would need several in different places to make sure you had one if you needed it.

Judy, what is different about the new tower? congrats on doing all 3 workouts!.

We feel good about encouraging cousin & wife, but it seems to be slow progress. If you don't use it, you lose it quickly. they are inconsistent. I could not believe how effortless riding was for DH and myself, and how they were killing themselves!. .

Valerie- the new tower is easier to take apart/put together. It's a little smaller, and I think it would be easier to break down and store if you needed to. Also, it seems sturdier.

Today I did Low Impact Sweat workout 2 timesaver, 29 minutes, heart rate avg. 129/ max 172 (I doubt that on the 172) If my heart rate gets that high I am gasping for air) 158 fit bit and 200 map my fitness. I think it should have been in between. I went with map my fitness though. Calories burned app was 210. I then did Burn sets chest with the warm up, 19 minutes, 85 calories (I used calories burned calculator which is in between for the weight work), I followed with Burn sets shoulders and stretch, 20 minutes, 76 calories. I finished off with P90X3 yoga, 31 minutes, 71 calories (calorie calculator) Total time was 98 minutes, calories burned 432.
Burn sets weights
bench press 20's reps 10,10, 12 tf
chest fly 20's 10,10,12 tf
chest press incline 20's 10,10,12 to failure
push ups 20 reps
standing shoulder press 20's, reps 10,10 ; 17.5's 10 reps
single arm lateral raise 10# 10,10,12 reps
single arm rear delt raise 10# 10,10, 10 reps
scare crow

Deb, we keep telling our grandchildren that someone needs to learn to be an electrician or a plumber. The plumber we use is a retired fireman. I think it is nice that he has a background for something else after retirement.

Carolyn, I have been thinking of using my Polar when I do boxing so if my Fit Bit gets turned off with the gloves I still have a reading. Using the Fit Bit Blaze with the My Fitness Pal app is helpful on analyzing what I have done. It won't work through the gloves if the watch gets stopped though. I have figured out how to just quick add my calories from my fitness pal to the Fit Bit app on my phone without putting all of the foods and recipes in.

Lynda, I too love the Ripped with Hiit low impact workouts and am loving the Ice Sweat workouts. I had to get the Ripped with Hiit one replaced because it cracked in the middle. I missed using it while waiting for the new one. Then my Ice workout came and I think I am pretty much using it every week right now.

Judy, I had to order macadamia nut oil before. I do not think they have it at Sprouts right now either. It would be the better oil because of the omega 3/ omega 6 ratio. I make my own mayonnaise and try to use nut oils for it. Almond oil tastes really good but this last time I purchased walnut oil since it was a few dollars less. I usually purchase the Spectra brand. I tried it recently with a combo of extra virgin olive oil and avocado oil, but the flavor is pretty strong. It was basically because that is the only oils I had other than coconut oil and sesame oil on hand.

Good evening ladies!

Today's workout was with the ladies...SB Arms and the her Biceps and Tricep workout. A great combination.

I will be traveling for a couple of days. Will be back late Saturday. Going to Universal Florida for a site vist at the hotel where we are having our conference. It is the new Sapphire Falls. My son is my traveling companion so we will have a good time. While I am touring the hotel tomorrow his plan is to sit by the pool and enjoy life! As usual I waited until the last minute to pack. Our flight is at 6am tomorrow...UGH!!!

Judy...thanks for the review. I am over being disappointed and am glad I ordered the Fit Tower. I am planning to do some pull ups with it which I am getting excited about. I may do STS again!

Lynda...Yes I do love my SB!!! But Cathe Live is right up there too. Today's workout looked great. Going to do this when I return. Compound Giant Sets is one of my favorites!! Love what 8lbs can do!!

Deb...awww thanks for the chew toy. Our new pup will love this! I think you will like that JS Dvd. And that is a great price!!!!!! A good quick workout but not insane. You know her style. It seems to be a little tougher than her YouTube workouts though. It is tougher than her newer DVD's too. I use 5lbs like she does and that weight works for me! There is another 10 pounds down that I bought on ebay for about the same price. Will let you know what it is like.

Carolyn...love those workouts!! Good to know you feel Polar is more accurate.

Diane Sue...Always an inspiration when I read about your workouts! have p90x 3. Never think of doing the yoga. Loving SB's new stretch dvd. I know you are thinking about it. I understand about the HR monitors. As long as they are not ridiculously high or low I agree they are a great morivator.

Valerie...great mountain bike ride! We use mostly coconut oil now and we love it. Did you retire at 45? I remember you saying you were sacked and that was it.

Have a great night all...off to pack...need to leave the house at 2:45AM!!!!!

Lori I looked for other jobs in the medical laboratory area. found one and worked it for about a year but the travel was brutal and their equipment was crap. they wanted travel on sunday, ( cheaper) then they were unreliable about sending all the purchased equipment so I would end up sitting around waiting. plus, I wasn't making any money. In office laboratories used to be lucrative, but regulation got strict in many states, and companies stopped making equipment for smaller offices. Now everything is centralized. Hospital labs used to be varied and elaborate, but they are mostly history now.
I looked for other things and interviewed a lot but nothing much came up. I started doing medical transcription for my husband, along with purchasing office supplies. set it up as a home based small business. I did that for a number of years and all of a sudden, everyone switched to voice recognition software, and that whole field of work disappeared. GONE! now all the docs do all their own data entry and any dictated notes are transcribed automatically. sometimes some very strange things get printed! I was about 55 when I couldn't think of anything else to do!

Oh my 2:45 am will be along soon, go get some rest.
