Diane Sue: what was the window/time frame that the vet told your daughter to watch her dogs for when they got into tha rat poison? Long story...will explain tomorrow...

Deb

Deb, I believe it was 36 hours. I will ask. I know it was one week for any other side effects.
I read that it is 48 to 72 hours on a website. Waiting to here back from my daughter. I don't know if she has gone to bed already or not.

Deb if it was caught within an hour it would be 3 hours for early symptoms. 7 days for late symptoms. She says you can look on Merck website for whatever particular poison that was ingested. Different rat poison or whatever is swallowed has different time frames. I hope y0ur doggies are okay!

Good morning,

Yesterday I did Live Metabolic Mash Up.

The big excitement for yesterday, actually last night...

Kylee was outside, I was with them, and they chases a squirrel from the tree across the back fence....which is not unusual for them to do. I called them in and saw when she came towards me that she had something in her mouth. I thought it was a piece of mulch/bark. I told her to "drop it" which she did immediately. I picked it up and saw that it was this green block of something. I suspected it was rat poison/bait....took it in and looked up on the internet...here is what is is:

https://www.amazon.com/Tomcat-All-Weath ... rat+poison

Needless to say we were pretty angry and upset. I called the Emergency vet after giving her hydrogen peroxide to make her vomit. They said that if she does vomit, look for the green stuff and if not there, she should be ok. Watch for some change in her behavior, listlessness etc.

I suspect the squirrel had it in his mouth when he was chased and dropped it...for her to find it so fast...she must have seen it fall from the fence...She picks up everything that is different. I am so glad I was out there when it happened.

Diane Sue, thanks for the information...I will go to that site. The poison control number I called referred me to the Pet Poison Control because they said they could not give info on all animals etc. Did you know that the Pet Poison control number won't even talk to you without you giving them a credit card? It's $49 to talk to them...I hung up and called the Emergency Vet, figuring they get more calls on dogs etc than anyone and actually treat them. Yes, I suspected that the "free" stuff had some kind of hook to it.

Carolyn, it sounds like you are doing great with WW. I forgot about that extended stretch from STS...was it a separate disk?

Lynda, it seems like we both gravitate to the compound/metabolic live workouts...they are great, no dread factor, and they should also count as HIIT workouts! Thursday Live workout looks really good...an upper body one on the ball. Definitely no more wallpaper! I had to get the front hall done for when out painter comes, sometime late September. Also will be stripping the woodwork that goes up the stairs to the second floor. 1972...the same year I started my job....42 years later, so many changes in how things are done now, like you mentioned.

Judy, wow, all 3 workouts! That's amazing. Thanks for the reviews. Turbo Barre with less reps and shorter workouts seem perfect to me! :). Abel James just had an article on oils, and how most of the time they are really old when you buy them. Of course, he wants you to order his oil. I'm sure it is great but like Diane Sue mentioned, you have to sign up for one of those auto-ship programs. I don't use enough oil to do that.

Valerie, it is great that you are encouraging your cousins. I hope they stick with it. Agree on the epi pen situation....it's a monopoly and highway robbery! There are stories from women working in the 70's....don't get me started! LOL....where I worked, the men got a raise when they got married....because they had a family to support...no raise for women...we were just working for the "extras"....no kidding...that was the explanation....I could go on and on.....but I won't :).

Lori, have a safe trip...and get some fun in there if you can!

Hi Josie!

A workout and maybe organize the den....we'll see....I am paranoid now about having the dogs in the yard....feel like I have to watch them like a hawk...I am going to call the county and report what happened. Someone must be tossing those things around, they are supposed to be used in bait boxes....

Take care,

Deb, some people have no sense. Squirrels can be a pest but I would never try to poison them . It is irresponsible when there are other animals out there too. I am glad you saw it. My daughters youngest pup vomited up the most of the green stuff. I would worry too.

I don't think they are trying to harm the squirrels...they are trying to kill rats...which has become a problem in the city. I am thinking that they tossed these around, hoping to kill rats, and since they are supposedly "human type food" smelling etc, a squirrely got a hold of one and was running around ( into our yard) with it in its mouth. It was too coincidental that Kylee chased the squirrel, then all of a sudden she has this thing in her mouth. I really don't believe she ingested any, just held it. She was sinking around, trying to hide it from Keegan...(thank goodness he didn't see her with it or they may have fought over it! :()...I luckily was there at the moment...

Hello Everyone,
Workout today was Pyramid Upper Body. I am following Cathe's August rotation, but I don't usually workout 6 days a week. I try for 5 which means that I am a bit behind the weekly schedule or I omit a workout. I did not do Imax 2 this week because I had already done step on Saturday and Monday and I subbed Low Impact Hiit for Plyo HiiT.

Deb, the STS Extended Stretch is on disc 1. I think it might be on each disc, but I know it's on 1 and 2. I have done well on Weight Watchers. I am down 36 pounds since last November and I am nearing my goal. I lose weight very slowly, but I decided to focus on my health and just follow the plan. I tried the Nourishing Gurus Breakfast Bootcamp which changed up my eating a bit. More protein and healthy fats at breakfast. I liked several of the recipes as did my husband! We are continuing to use some of the ideas.

Traildoggie, we eat mostly chicken, turkey, fish, vegetables, and complex carbohydrates. I love to cook so my challenge is to prepare meals that taste good but are healthy as well. When my children and grandchildren are in town I splurge a bit more.

Have a great day.
Carolyn

Wow Deb, you are lucky you were there to intervene. that is the trouble with poison bait, it can end up other than where it's intended. hope the doggies are OK. I would do a thorough search of the yard in case the squirrel carried any more bait in and stashed it. funny, kYLEE probably indirectly saved the squirrel's life too.

Carolyn, we sound similar. I lose very slowly, no matter how much exercise, and I can't do low carb high protein. congrats on a huge weight loss! slow and steady will win the race. I assumed the Bootcamp would be an attempt to get me to eat eggs. I eat them occasionally but not for breakfast. W ere ideas better than that? I saw the bootcamp promo a short time ago but didn't have time to look at it then. I am not losing (and not gaining) so I should look for another approach that might tip things toward loss. I may take another run at WW after vacation time in September. we are out of cell range a lot. I can and do log exercise, but I hate logging food. I had my common meals/foods entered in WW PP program, so it was pretty easy to log. I tried to re-enter when I rejoined but things disappeared randomly and I got sick of doing it over and over.

DH is becoming a bit of a crank about food. he is getting heartburn a lot and didn't like some Indian food I made recently, doesn't like Thai , and is pitching a fit about soy sauce. says it gives him migraines. I've heard of it being a trigger but I don't use a large quantity, and he hasn't had a headache in quite a while. he doesn't know how often soy sauce is used in cooking. a teaspoon here, a tablespoon there. it is hard to not use it at all. the Indian simmer sauces were really good and easy. I thought I could use them occasionally with chicken and vegies over rice when I need an easy, fast dinner. I made some mahi mahi 2 nights ago and he pitched a fit about that. he likes tilapia!. mahi mahi is a mild white fish, I put the same spice mixture on that he likes on tilapia. but NOooooo! some nights I feel like giving him PB&J.

off to get my hair done. too hot to ride today. indoor workout later.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did both Sweat workouts (46:13).

Deb, I hope you caught Kylee in time--it sounds as though you did. Is it the city that is throwing those baits around or a neighbor? Kim has ongoing issues with a red squirrel couple stuffing a gutter over our carport with nesting material, but I think he would shoot them before putting out poison. He hates varmints and we have plenty of them, plus hawks, owls, sharpee hawks......

Lori--I think I will try that shred workout on Sunday. It looked good. Have a good time in Florida with your son!

Judy, those workouts sound good. I especially like the idea of using the tower in multiple ways, not just for barre.

Carolyn, that is an impressive weight loss. I had no idea that Tamoxifen caused weight gain. Since my husband raises chickens, pigs, and grass fed beef calves, we have a lot of meat. Pork can be very lean--especially the loin.

Valerie, I don't use soy sauce very often--mostly in Chinese dishes. I would be irritated too if Kim constantly complained about my cooking. He never does except if I overcook pork and dry it out. He is also my butcher and always does large cuts of meat--standing rib roast, rotisserie chicken, pork loin roast--and his specialty is pesto. So I often get a break from cooking.

Off to Jacob's Pillow tomorrow for the final company--Pacific Northwest Ballet. One of our favorites.

Hi to Diane Sue and Josie!

Valerie, would love to see some of those Indian simmer sauce recipes! :)...

yes, John scoured the yard with a flashlight...it was dark by the time we got Kylee all settled after the vomit and phone calls to ER vet etc. I also when over the grass this morning pretty carefully. I was just guessing that the squirrel had the bait but it makes sense that Kylee got it right after she chased the squirrel out of the yard.

Traildoggie, the Bootcamp recipes were mostly plant protein sources such as hemp seeds, chia seeds, etc. added to recipes. Healthy fats were included like avocado and coconut oils and nuts. They provided 20 recipes and I chose those that appealed to me. Only two were egg dishes. most were gluten free recipes. I'm still trying some of them.
Garance, We eat pork loin and I have just started buying some grass fed beef. I plan to get some tomorrow from the local farmers market. I envy your access to such good food.

Deb it was easy.. Costco... in the refrigerator case.... bought a 2 pack of Indian simmer sauces in plastic tubs. ( I'll look up the brand & post) 2 flavors. one mild one, medium. neither is hot, IMO so I add some heat to my serving. the dating is good..think it was at least 1 month, refrigerated . I added chicken or tofu to the sauces, cooked it as long as they said, then added a load of vegies. I used cooked green beans , frozen peas, chunks of peppers, whatever vegies you like. served it over rice. Very tasty and so easy!! but (damn) gave DH heartburn. I try to have a couple fall- back dinners for when I get delayed or traffic is the pits. so I am looking once again. there is another Indian one lentils in a sauce, in a shelf stable pack, but you guessed it, DH didn't like it.
Carolyn I looked back and see the bootcamp was the 21-25 of aug. maybe they'll run another one.

Deb, they had a jarred sauce that I think was Maya Kamal brand but I haven't seen it there in a while. for some reason, the local supermarkets don't carry these sauces. the refrigerated brand is similar flavors... Tandoori is one.. but in plastic tubs in the deli refrigerated section. I can't find it online so I will look next trip to Costco. they were good and very easy. they have cooked rice too but I didn't care for it and make my own. also have packages of naan bread that freezes nicely.

https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=indian+simmer+sauces these are the google results. maybe your local groceries carry these. mine does not have much, only found them at Costco.

I am getting here late. I got up early and went shopping before I did my workout. Bill had me up at 5:30 this morning so he could use the treadclimber before work. I am trying to get things together because tomorrow we are doing a double birthday here for my daughter and I. So I made her a cake and am scrubbing potatoes to bake. My son in law is going to grill. I put together a no sugar lemon jello and light cream cheese desert for the ones on a diet. My grandson has lost 30 lbs now:) I am so glad he is staying with it. I have to go get ready to go to dinner. My husband has reservations to take me out tonight for my birthday dinner since the family will be here tomorrow. We are going to our friend's Italian restaurant. I am so undecided on what to get. I love the artichoke parmesan. I get that a lot. They have great food.
Today's workout was legs. I did Ripped With Hiit lift it hit it legs (was going to do cardio legs since I was on an X train streak but did not want more step) I did the mix that had abs 1 added and went back and did the stretch since the mix only has the abs stretch, 53 minutes. 331 calories. I then did Lean Legs and Abs chair firewalker and barre mix, no warm up, 31 minutes, 84 calories. Total time 84 minutes, 415 calories.

I held a 12# dumbbell on my thigh when doing the leg lifts on the barre segment of Lean Legs and Abs, medium tension band for floor work and firewalkers.

Valerie, I use coconut aminos in place of soy sauce in stir fries and recipes. You might try something like that. You would think with all of the veggies and green foods that your husband would have enough alkaline foods to counteract the heartburn. I have found using greens powder has helped me a lot with the acid reflux I used to have. Many times it is not the foods that we think it would be. I love Indian spice foods and curry but at times it will not set well. Usually a combination of foods will together will do that. I cook a lot of my husband and my foods separately. He does not care for overly spiced up foods and definitely not curry.

Lynda, my son in law's parents had squirrels get in their attic and chew up their wiring. It was very costly to get it all redone. In our last home I could hear them scratching around in ours (or at least that is where I think they were) when I would go to bed at night. IT really worried me. You are so lucky to have all of that fresh quality meat to eat. I went to Sprouts early this morning and grabbed all 7 packages of their grassfed ground beef they were having a 72 hour sale on. I guess I could have went to the meat counter and asked for more. Generally it will run 8.00 a pound but it was 4.00 this weekend. I use pork a lot more than I used to. Sometimes I will buy a tenderloin and grind it in my food processor to use instead of buying what the store has ground up.

Carolyn, I have not looked at Cathe's rotations in awhile. I guess I have not really done a full rotation of anything since 21 Day Fix Extreme which I ended up adding to.

Hi all! Having fun. Pretty exhausted at this point. Been up since 2am. Plus did not sleep very well. Kept waking up because I was afraid to sleep thru alarm. The flight this morning was interesting. Went thru security and alarms went off when I was going thru body scan. They patted me down and did the wand over on me then my carryon. Well both tested positive for explosive residue! My bag was thoroughly search and I was brought to a private room to be really padded down and searched. Was a little stressfull and time consuming but glad to see TSA doing their job so I was ok with it. The conclusion was something in my skin care/makeup was not recognized by the detector so it was flagged. No idea if it will happen on my return!

No workout today but have done a lot of walking. Tomorrow planning to get in some SB lower targets in the morning since I wake so early compared to my son. Would like to get at least a 45 min workout in.

Deb...so glad you were there and saw Kylee pick that up. So scary. Home improvements are a lot of work but when everything is done you are glad you did it.

Carolyn...the only rotation of Cathe's I ahve follows was STs and Xtrain. I think I did RWH too. I love seeing the mothly rotations she puts together and I appreciate the time but I have yet to do one.

Lynda...enjoy and have fun at Jacob's Pillow!

Diane Sue! Happy Birthday! Enjoy your party! Awesome your grandson has lost 30 pounds!

Valerie...I am so fortunate that mynhusband eats everything!!! Not a picky eater at all.

Have a great night all. It is 8pm and I am still awake!! :)

Diane Sue

Please do not grind up a pork tenderloin! Wrap it up in seasoning and prosciutto and grill until the prosciutto is crispy and serve with a chutney!

Linda, that sounds yummy. I seem to be stuck with an orange juice, honey, teriyaki, garlic, ginger marinade that I started years ago and when I roast pork tenderloin any other way the family has always wondered what happened. I like it different ways. Maybe that one would go over well.

Good morning,

No workout yesterday...I did some stuff around the house, groomed Kylee, and errands.

Carolyn, great job on the weight loss and good for you for doing a Cathe rotation! Those are really tough. I agree on the 6 days, especially with those workouts. :). Thanks for the reminder on the STS extended stretch. I really need to start doing more of that. I really like the NG recipes...(not all but most). They use a lot of chia seeds...I tried them once and tossed the bottle...but maybe will try again.

Valerie, I can send you the NG Breakfast Boot Camp recipe file...its a PDF...I think I have your email. If anyone else wants it, let me know. Like Carolyn mentioned not a lot of eggs. Are there particular foods that your DH really likes? Thanks for the link! I will put those on our list for our version of Costco...(it's called B,J's).

Lynda, I'm pretty sure its a neighbor throwing the bait around...I called the county and told them about it. They were concerned, but in the end said that they have no control over the public. Their program is pretty regimented, and they don't leave the bait boxes when they put them down, they come back and check each week and if no activity after 3 times, they take them away. I have said before...I wish we lived closer to you...would buy all our meat from Kim!

Diane Sue, Happy Birthday!! How was the dinner? did you get the artichoke parmesan? So coconut aminos is a good replacement for soy sauce? mmm...that is interesting...I am not a fan of soy sauce either, not the taste, I like that, but try to stay away from anything soy. where do you get them?

Judy, how is the house hunting going? did you get an email yesterday from the NG's on the Breakfast Boot Camp...looking like it was starting over? All the attachments? I think it was a mistake.

Lori, wow, that was scary...I wonder why they deem it to be explosive residue, when in actuality it is just unrecognized? Anyway, I guess it is good to know that they are doing their jobs. I hope you don't get that on your return flight. Maybe add in some extra time just in case. :).
