Good morning,

No workout yesterday, took a rest day.

Carolyn, good to keep resting your hamstring. That is one that you shouldn't get back using too soon. I can imagine how different the house must seem with everyone gone.

Valerie, Have a safe trip! I am with you on banning all private sales of any type of fireworks. The ones done by professional should be the only ones available.

Diane Sue, nice that you have your granddaughter learning to sew. Not many girls want to learn that type of thing any more. In all the time we have been training dogs, it has been said that harnesses only make things worse, if you have a strong dog. It allows them to pull with their full body weight. At the club we recommend the prong collars for dogs that tend to pull, but only use for training and walking. Choke collars are not good for walking dogs that pull. They are used specifically in training, and we have to make sure the people know how to put them on correctly, and how to use them. I like the idea of a shock collar with a tone, so you can train for them to respond to the tone, and not have to use the shock part.

Lori, glad your toe is not preventing you from working out. that clip looked like a fun workout. What is the ball thing again?

Cardio on the rotation today. I am not sure I can do 4 weeks of the FT rotation...even with the "cardio of choice" days, I think I would get bored using the same 3 workouts...we'll see how it goes...

Take care,

Good morning ladies!

Today the rotation calls for Turbo Barre. I am going to do a premix of it that I made up plus a SB advanced barre.

Diane Sue...I think you will like that youtube workout. It starts off easier then gets a little more intense. I enjoyed it. Not sure what kind of weights they used. I used 1lb hand weights since I had just finished the BC. I also used 1.5lb ankle weights. Both were perfect for me. When my arms are moving quickly I need to keep the hand weights light. Very cute gertie crawled back in. GiGi would head for the mountains! She is a free spirit! We do need to look into the training collar.

Deb....sorry I meant playing fetch with GiGi. We have a orange ball that squeaks that she loves. Iy is about the size of a softball and all we need to say is get your squeaky ball and she runs to grab it and knows it is play time. It is really cute!

No plans today...workout, some errands and pool time. That is my day! It is going to be beautiful here today.

Enjoy all!

Hello Everyone,
Another day of rest for me. I know that I need it but I start to feel like a slug after two off days. I might go for a short walk later.

Deb, I looked at the 30 day Fit Tower rotation and decided that I need more variety to avoid getting bored. I plan to try one of the other 30 day rotations.

Lori, it sounds like you have the perfect summer afternoon planned. I am having a relaxing day also. I had a wonderful time with my family last week, but now the rest is good.

Hope you are all having a good day.

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I did ICE Muscle Meltdowns, biceps & shoulders and stretching. This morning I did a 45 minute indoor ride. So far, I think I have dodged getting the cold/virus that Chris has. He is much better and so far all I've had is a mild scratchy throat. My back is slowly getting better but not 100% yet. I plan on starting a week of the Fit Tower rotation tomorrow and will see how it goes. I have a chiro appt. on Tuesday and am hoping an adjustment will help.

Deb-As I recall, I did like KCM's yoga session. I'll have to try doing it again. It's only 15 minutes, so easy to add on to another workout.

Diane Sue-Great job with the KCM workouts! I think you will like Plateau Buster. I always do the combined workouts premix. One of my favorite KCM workouts.

Carolyn-I hope your hamstring feels much better this week.

Lori-I'm going to start the FT rotation at week 1, so I'll be doing Legs, Glutes & Core tomorrow. I'll probably do a shorter premix then add something else on, as I don't want to push it with my back.

Valerie-I hope you are having a good trip today.

Judy

Today is my usual rest day and family day. I have been sore so the rest day is good.

Deb, thanks for the information on training collars. I may try the prong collar next time we go out for a walk. I always felt I would look like a mean person doing that, but then again I had them say in the vets office how they get so many dogs that are not trained properly that they deal with. I am sure it pays to work on training and get it right. Maybe you could switch it up and do some of the FT premixes or combine a couple of premixes from different workouts in the rotation.

Judy, glad to hear that you are doing better and not got the full blown cold. Sometimes that happens here. My husband will be sick and I am a bit off with the scratchy throat etc. for a couple of days. I prefer it miss me altogether though. I have seen that you do Plateau Buster quite a bit so figured it must be a good one. I really enjoy her Stepboxing workouts, particularly the older ones and the Live workout. My low back has been a bit achy and I think it is some of the Fit tower things like the flutter kicks etc. in the core segment of Legs, glutes, and core. I just use the band for the core work. That and the superman move are two that can set off low back pain particularly on the right side. Maybe that is wear my stress fracture is.

Lori, I may try that workout with whatever I do for strength work tomorrow. Mudd was kind of like that. She was never interested in the cars though. But her tongue would be hanging out and her ears flopping and she looked pretty happy running off up the street and pretty satisfied after she chased another dog away, as she came back.

Carolyn, I have been just mixing in some of the Fit Tower premixes and sometimes the full workouts with other workouts. I know I would get bored quickly if that is all that I did.

Good morning,

Yesterday I did an iTrain workout on the treadmill.

Lori, nice combo of workouts. :). I am skipping Turbo Barre on the rotation....not my favorite. Actually, I don't even remember if I kept it or sold it on Ebay.

Carolyn, I hope your hamstring is better today. Did the walk help? I may switch to one of the other rotations too...I haven't really looked that closely at them.

Judy, good that you dodged that cold. Which Fit Tower rotation are you planning on doing?

Diane Sue, I was wondering while doing those flutter kick moves in the Fit Tower workouts if they would be harmful for the lower back. The thing about the prong collar, is that you should not have to use any kind of "pop" action for a correction...it should kind of be self correcting.

Not sure about a workout today...not feeling that well and I didn;t sleep well last night....so we'll see.

Take care,

Deb, i i have not done Turbo Barre many times. Mosrly parts of it. It just feels so long and not much action or something. I dont get rid of workouts in my boxed sets though and i tend to keep in mind that i might find that workout useful as i get older. That is good to know that the orong collar is self correcting. I just know those moves like the flutter kicks and supermans have caused me pain in the past. I have learned to not do them very agressively. You would think that they would strengthen the muscles around the area for mor support. Then again i dontbthink that is a natural way for the bacj to bend.

Diane Sue, yes, that is exactly how I fell about Turbo Barre....if I remember right, there is really no good time saver premix...

I did end up doing the Fit Tower Boot Camp and find that I liked it even more the second time around! :)

This morning I did Kelly Coffey Strength and Stamina both workouts combined ,79 minutes(supposed to be 63 but interruptions and accidently hit the remote once)414 calories, heart rate 114 avg/152 max. I then did a YouTube rebounding workout from Rebound Fit 24 minutes, 163 calories, heart rate 145 avg./177 max . This was a fun one.

Deb, there is only one premix on Turbo Barre and it is still long. I have went through the chapters though and did the last little bit of strength and abs/stretch as an add on to other workouts though. But, now there are better options for add ons so I do not even do that.

Deb, I also did the FT Bootcamp. I had to pause a couple of times to adjust the equipment which I thought might be annoying, but it didn't. I enjoyed the workout. Total time for me was 53 minutes and 278 calories burned. Average heart rate was 116 and maximum heart rate was 143.

My hamstring is much better today but I was very aware of the feeling of each move during my workout. I haven't done the full Turbo Barre workout many times but I like to do the warm-up before other workouts. Like Diane Sue, I only pick and choose a few of the exercises. Once I did the lower body express premix, but it was too long and too much of that type exercise for me. I never get rid of my workouts even though there are some that I rarely use. I like to go back through them periodically. I find myself wishing that I still had the few that I did get rid of for those times when I want a lighter workout.

Have a good afternoon.

Good evening ladies,

This morning was cardio of choice so I strung together the 2 ReboundFit YouTube workouts and enjoyed them. 47 mins/338 cal. The last portion really works your core. Unlikely I will do the core work scheduled today in the FT rotation. This was my only workout. Did not sleep well last night. Surprised I was able to workout this morning.

So funny...when I did Turbo Barre yesterday it had been ages since I did it last. When I was done, I thought to myself, wow I really liked it!!! Lol!! The premix that I made up I took out the calf raises and core. I do not like working my calves and feel they get worked enough with my workouts. I liked the upper body in this too and went a little heavier than Cathe. I also used my 1.5# ankle weights.

When I first looked at the rotation I thought I would never stick with it due to the variety that I like. But having the cardio of choice made the difference for me. I then realized it is for 30 days so you end up doing each FT workout 4 times. Figured I could work with that. The only change to this rotation is the Travel Fit and the Kick Max Leg Conditioning. Going to sub in the Live Travel for Travel Fit, only because it is fresh and for the Kick Max leg drills I will most likely do a SB workout.

I love the FT Bootcamp! My favorite of the three. Looking forward to doing it tomorrow.

Caroyln..glad your hamstring continues to improve.

Judy...nice you think you dodged the bullet with that cold. Summer colds are always so bad. Hope chris is feeling well. Nice workouts and glad your back is improving.

Diane Sue...really nice workout today. How did you like the ReboundFit Workout? Hoping you did. :)

Deb...The first time I did Turbo Barre I hated it and thought it was so hard and the dread factor was horrible. My have things changed for me! I am in my 3rd year now of consistently doing barre most days of the week and can't get enough!

Have a great night all!

Hi Everyone,

Today I did Fit Tower Legs, Glutes & Core, Premix 1, a 10 minute segment of Ab Hits, and Muscle Meltdown Triceps. I like the leg and glute work in this series.

Deb-I'm sorry you weren't feeling well this morning. I hope you feel better. I started the basic 30 day Fit Tower Rotation. I'm doing a week at a time to see how it goes.

Diane Sue- Strength & Stamina is another great KCM workout. I need to do that one again soon.

Carolyn-I'm glad your hamstring is much better! I don't get rid of any workouts either.

Lori-I really like Turbo Barre too. I'm looking forward to doing it again. It's been quite a while since the last time I did it.
I feel like I need to get back into barre work. As I recall, it was good for me when I was having low back issues before. It's probably something I should be doing regularly.
Chris is feeling better, but still coughing. I feel very lucky that I didn't get sick.

Judy

Carolyn, i am glad to hear the hamstring is healing.

Lori, i sometumes have a not so pleasant experience with a workout and tend to not want to do it ag a in. Time goes by and when i finally try again i love it. I loved Strength and Stamina today. I remember doing it at a timw when i was fatigued and a bit injured and did not enjoy it, so i have been avoing it. Today i b was printing up some Kelly premix lists and b worksheets. I started a kell notebook/ folder. Yes i reall did like the Revound Fit workout. The music and movement patterns was fun. I started out with my 2# sand weights as nd dropped to the 1# dumbbells vec as use i f e lt i had plenty of weight work with Kelly.

Judy , i had not d one Strength and Stamina much. I mostly used the bonus s t r p on it. As stated to Lori, inloved it tod a y and think an earlier experience made me think i did notbwant b to do it. I sometimes confuse theworkouts and which movements werevon them. Printing up the work sheets helps. I actually think i could up some of those weights with it b e ing 12 reps.

All is going well here but no workouts. Drive took 12 hours. Then neither of us could sleep. Today shopping. Next two days. Blinds and furniture. Think we can fit in some short hikes around the deliveries.

I need to get dumbbells bands for here I havent bought any for while and a pair of 5 lbs were $16.!! I don't remember paying that muchbefore is there a good place to buy online or a good store you h I used target but that is a lot and they didn't have much heavier. I like neoprene coated best. Ideas??

Hello, wonderful ladies,

I am still only doing weights, and I keep thinking my good Homedics scale is broken. I do miss my aerobic high that I would get when doing cardio. If I remember correctly, my mother, after a certain age, could not put any weight on, and I am pretty
sure she was 100 or less. I can't find my tape measure, and I can't do my bodyfat myself. I just have to find the tape measure, as that would give me a better idea.

Thank you for the feedback on the HRT, and I had very bad symptoms, and I asked for it. I know that doctors sometimes steer a woman away from taking it because of the risk factors. My mammograms are always fine. I would be miserable during the warms summers we get here.

Good morning,

Yesterday, as mentioned I did Fit Tower Boot Camp. 52 minutes, 290 calories. I am pretty aggravated this morning...found when we took the dogs for a walk that someone took the flower planter from our porch last night...AARRRGH!!! I hope they enjoy it.

Diane Sue, great KCM workouts. I keep forgetting that she always has a combined premix.

Carolyn, glad your hamstring is better. Do you have the new Tower or the original? I used Lori's conversion to label the holes in my old Tower and it really helped. I find that if I go one number up from Cathe's suggestion, it works for me.

Lori, sorry about not sleeping well...hope you got a better night's sleep last night. I think I will do the other rotation, the one with RWHIIT and Strong & Sweaty mixed in....however I did want to add the Live Travel Fit....somewhere...

Judy, glad Chris is feeling better and you were able to avoid getting the cold. I think I will do a premix of Legs, Glutes & Core like you did, the next time it is on the rotation.

Valerie, you should be able to get some DB's for a lot cheaper than that. Maybe Walmart?

Caitlin, if you do any PHAT or metabolic weight work, there is a definite cardio factor that is similar to the cardio "high" you mentioned.

A workout, then class this morning with Kylee....

Take care,

Valerie- I was going to suggest Amazon, but I just looked at neoprene dumbbells there and they want $22 for a 5 lb pair. That includes shipping, but still a bit too much. I just looked at Dick's Sporting Goods site and they have them for $7.99 each, but that didn't include shipping.

This morning I did Cardio Slam with the low impact modifications. Time was 50 minutes with 329 calories burned. Average heart rate was 123 and maximum heart rate was 148.

Deb, I have the original turbo tower and I did not mark the slots. It was not difficult for me to determine where I needed the bar to be without the numbers. After a few rounds I realized that I was using the same settings. Sometimes I needed to adjust the bar during the exercise.

I am doing the FT rotation with RWH and Strong and Sweaty. That one suits me better.

Lori, I had a similar experience with Turbo Barre. I didn't care for it initially, but when I tried it again not long ago I liked it. I think the entire concept of barre work was so new to me when the LIS came out that I couldn't get into it. And the length of the workout gave me a big dread factor. I no longer feel that I must do an entire workout and am better at picking the parts that I want to do.

Hello to Diane Sue, Judy, Valerie, and Caitlin.

Today I did Amy Bento's Kickbox Surge and Core Training, 79 minutes, 501 calories, heart rate 126/151. I wanted cardio and abs so this fit the bill really well. It is a busy week this week. Vacation Bible School at our church and my daughter and I are going to watch a video serieswhile my granddaughter is doing this. Friday my granddaughter has a music program she is doing after having a music camp all week, so every night this week we will be out. They come here after music camp during the day and stay for dinner:) It's fun. I need to try to get in a bit of housework today.

Valerie, have you checked Amazon for dumbbells? I purchased my husband 30# dumbbells and they were 27 dollars each recently at Walmart. They seem pretty reasonable for the most part. The coated ones are generally more costly. I prefer the ones that are not coated just because the handles are not as thick and it doesn't make my joints hurt as much holding on to them for any extended period of time. Maybe an adjustable dumbbell pair would work well. Maybe you could find some on Amazon with these prime days deal going on if you have Amazon Prime. Good to know things are going well . Hopefully after you get set up you will relax and sleep better.

Deb, I would be furious if someone took my planter. What is wrong with people anyway!!

Caitlin, do you eat a lot of protein? It seems that would help you build up a bit with the strength training. Maybe make sure you eat some things that are calorie dense like sweet potatoes and potatoes. Still nutritious but have more calories in them.

Carolyn, sometimes with the bar numbers I would adjust it to suit me. I don't think they are particularly necessary and Cathe even makes suggested numbers for your needs. It is easy to tell if it is waist height or whatever is needed.

I have an unmatched set of dumbbells accumulated over decades I remember getting a set of 2, 4, 5 's for a few dollars at target so that's where I looked. No, $8 each! more $ as they got heavier10 12 15 20 were much more. Found no sets anywhere but I am not familiar with this town. I was going to get a minimal set until we see how much time we are here but this was a wake up! We have a Ddicks near my other house. I don't need matched but the grayish metal ones smell bad . the Cathe stainless ones were even more. Maybe play it again sports but usually they only odd ball stuff or used for as much as new.

Deb does that frost you or what! Destroys your faith in the basic decency of people. So many nice people and a few jerks We lost a life preserver that some jerk pulled out from the edge of our camper while we were hiking. Must have been a lot of work as it was tightly wedged and not visible. Lost plastic levelers for our camper and almost lost some cheap camp chairs. If you have reserved a site ,people leave something of low value to mark the spot. some jerks stole ours ! Got the chairs back because the thief had not left the area.
