Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 6/3

Good evening ladies,

This morning I did Home Intervals #2 using the rebounder. I love this workout. I should have bought it sooner. I had ankle weights and 1lb weights when on the rebounder. I kept the moves simple and did the same exercise for the entire minute and a half. Ist interval jumping jaxs, second would be lateral ski hops and so on. This way I could really work the interval. I then did a 10 minute Popsugar cardio drill that I did on the rebounder. Total time was 43 mins / 325 cal. Wanted to do more but GiGi had daycare today

Carolyn...It was a while ago and I sent an invite thinking it was his Professional Page and I was going to follow him due to his relationship with fitness. He accepted. It is all good. It is nice I get to see his family! He may use his as both. I try to stick with brands I know too when orderimg clothes online. I received my 2 shirts I ordered from Kolhs. One is fits great and one is way to big. Such a pain to return! Oh well live and learn! I think I would enjoy zero to sixty also.

Deb...hope you are feeling better! Glad your internet is up and running. So frustrating.

Diane Sue...oh I hope your knee is better. Glad you stopped bouncing. You do not want to mess with that. I do not like self checkouts either for the same reason. Will look for Adrenaline Rush and see what I can find.

Valerie... we love memory foam here! Our mattress is 10 years old and we are due. We bought a 3inch memory foam mattress to extend the life a bit and it is working great for us. Funny how we are all different! I have thought and worry about what the future holds. More and more jobs are replaced by automation. I never go to the bank anymore. I do all mobile deposits. Are there any tellers left? It really is sad.

Judy...that is great you will do the vanity and floor yourself. That will be a huge cost savings. Yes have the tub and shower professionally installed. I would never attempt that! Is Total Body Scuplting a Cathe workout? I do not have High Step Circuit so I have not done this one.

Yesterday my company was purchased by an Orlando based company that operates several other restaurant business. This new ownership is a good thing for us. Looking forward once again! :). It will still be very hectic for a while. But eventually things will be back to normal.

Have a great night all.

Lori-That's good news about your company.

Total Body Sculpting is one of Cathe's beginner workouts from 2004 or 2005:

High Step Circuit is similar. It's the easiest of the High Step workouts.

Lori, I checked and only found a clip of Adrenaline Rush. Returning clothes is such a hassle. I bought two long sleeve t shirts from Amazon from the same seller and supposed to be the same shirt and one was soft and fit well and the other was huge and not a soft cotton. They did not cost much so I just kept them. I wear the big one when I am slouching around the house. I pick up tank tops and t-shirts quite often like that and some fit great and some don't. I wish companies would not change their styles. I used to get jeans from Old Navy that fit well and then they changed the names of the jeans and styles so much, I don't know which ones would be the ones that fit. The same thing happened with Maurice's jeans. I went in in a pair of their Jeans on and said I wanted the same Jeans, they have different names now. The ones she said were the same fit much more snug and are not soft worn feeling jeans like the ones I loved. I need to find some new ones. So, it didn't make much difference going to the store for the jeans. I go to the bank. I don't like the idea of doing my deposits with an app. I guess I am old school in that. My grandson just went and opened a checking account because he wanted the convenience of not having to get to the bank. It would be nice though when weather is bad and I put off going to the bank. That is great that another company came in, hopefully things pick back up for you and things become less stressful.

Deb, I forgot to say, you are lucky that you didn't have to pay the cable company. They told me ahead of time if they had to do something outside it would cost me. Then they offered me the insurance that would pay if they had to work outside and I would have had to pay a fee for at least 3 months before I could cancel it. I thought that was silly .

Judy, I think I have that workout. I remember Cathe making a beginner step workout, but she sold some separately too. Very basic. I have that high step workout as well.

Good morning,

No workout yesterday, except for gardening/weeding and agility class last night. Mammogram this morning at 7:20. so probably no workout today either.

Diane Sue, I agree, the switch to streaming is a big change for the industry and a lot of people will be out of a job. I hope you got some response from the computer place. Sometimes hiring for anything can be so frustrating.

Carolyn, Cardio Quick Fix sounds like a good one. I don't believe I have that one, I need to look at it closer. I wish I could figure out if these headaches are sinus or migraines.

Judy, doing the vanity and floor is very ambitious! I can understand why you would have a professional do the tub etc. Plumbing jobs can go bad very quickly. I really like High Step Circuit.

Valerie, great that you were able to get that pole back! I have never tried memory foam, and after you described it, I probably would not want it. We have a pillow top mattress that is pretty old, and could be replaced. John is not one to replace something that "doesn't need fixing".

Lori, how is Gigi doing with daycare? Having new ownership of your company can be scary. The family business I started out with was purchased twice in the 42 years that I worked there. The first one was a mistake, the company did not mesh well with our business. The FedEx bought the company and it was much better.

Take care,

Deb, I have my reminder card out to make that mammogram appointment and had set my calendar to remind me. I guess this is a reminder :) the computer place did not call back, so I called again. Apparently my repair guy was out on emergency calls the last two days and they said that they would have him call me. I hope I hear something soon.
I woke with a headache in the middle of the night and it is still there. A bit better after getting up and around. I hope it leaves, I have ny grandson today and told him we would go to the library.

Deb it was fairly amazing I found the pole at all. I've never dropped a pole in such a ridiculous spot. the snow banks get very high and hollowed out where the water runs under them so you don't want to walk there in case it breaks thru. so we stay high on the sides where the snow is firmer. the strap slipped over the top of my hand and skidded right down the snowbank into the rushing water. they are old poles and gold color so I was lucky to spot it stuck against an obstacle under water. a black pole might have been impossible.

Lori is absolutely right, we are all different. I'm a very warm sleeper. want the room and the bed cool. Pillowtops and memory foam hold heat. the whole surface gets warm, not just the spot you are lying on. the "cool spot" does not exist anymore, a deal breaker for me. If you are a cold sleeper who is always freezing, it might be a fantastic option, but as a warm sleeper not so good. I am OK the first couple hours but in the middle of the night I can't find a cool spot and the tantrum begins. some waterproof mattress covers do the same thing by reflecting heat.
All the combos of memory foam have gotten a little crazy, but it definitely was not for us. some beds you feel like you sink into the surface. I don't like the sensation and it feels warm immediately. the big issues would come if a couple want different qualities in a mattress. for us, it was a big money saver because we had no interest in a $5000 Temperpedic.

Not sure what we will do today. started the morning with a thunder storm so everything is really wet for a few hours. we'd planned to ride so maybe later instead if it isn't too warm.
ETA I forgot to mention the bank. I've gone in several times in the last year, mainly for safety deposit box access. the branch in my grocery store has one or two tellers. nothing like the staffing used to be. I keep reading about how companies are salivating for self driving cars and trucks and getting rid /reducing usefulness of actual employees. I hope that takes longer than hoped. I dont think I'd trust that technology..... not that you can always trust people either. it seems that so many social problems are caused when there are not jobs and we should not be working at making that problem worse. new technology brings new jobs, but not necessarily a good fit for older employees. the homeless situation here is terrible and I see it as a job related issue.

This morning I did Body Max 2, warmup, upper body, and abs. That was 48 minutes and 224 calories burned. Average heart rate was 115 and maximum heart rate was 162. I quickly learned years ago that Body Max 2 is much too long for me at 97 minutes. By the time I get to the upper body segment I am always too tired to do a good job.

Lori, I have gone to the bank two times in the past year. They still have tellers, but the set up is different. They promote more self service for certain transactions even inside the bank. I hope things settle down with your job now that there is a new owner.

Valerie, you are right about many jobs going away due to technology. Some of it is caused by consumer changes like more online shopping, but there are also fewer people available for customer service in other industries. It can be very frustrating when I try to call a business and have such a hard time getting a real person on the line. I like smaller independent businesses, but many are being forced out of business.

Judy, I have never done Total Body Sculpting from that dvd. I think it’s because I was only doing cardio initially and I overlooked TBS.

Hi to Diane Sue and Deb.

Hi Everyone,

Today I did Muscle Meltdown Triceps then XTrain Bonus Abs 2 and I finished with the Fit Tower Intermediate DVD, that came with the tower.
After the discussion about streaming, I decided to use On Demand for the first two. I had to use the DVD for the last one since that's not available for streaming, at least I don't think it is. I also watched part of the Live workout today. It looked like a good one. I want to try to do some more Live workouts in the next few weeks.

Deb-I hope you feel better today. I think my headaches are mostly sinus related. I tried the Azelastine nasal spray and didn't like it. My sinuses felt worse after using it and I had a nose bleed. I only used it for a few days and couldn't really tell if it was helping with my allergies or not but I won't continue.

Diane Sue-My mammogram will be in October, but it's not to early to schedule, so I will put that on my list of things to do in the next week or so.
I'm sorry about your headache.

Carolyn-Total Body Sculpting is one I like to use for active rest or if I am injured. It's very basic, she uses the stability ball and 3 lb weights or no weight for everything.

Valerie-I agree about so many jobs going away due to technology. I don't like seeing this happen. I've never been fond of the self checkout for this reason.

Hi to Lori!

Judy

I took my grandson to the library as promised so I am just getting around to posting. I stopped so many times during this workout through phone calls, texts and the arrival of my grandson. More car trouble on my husbands car today and still am not having luck getting the laptop repaired. I finally got to talk to the repair tech.

Carolyn, I have used the cardio only premix on Body Max 2 a lot. It is a really long workout.

Valerie, not only social problems with the lack of work for some people, but social problems for all of these people who do not know how to sit and converse with someone. They have their faces glued to a media device all of the time. Even when at social events. I don't see how this can be a good thing. I don't trust the idea of those self driving cars at all. I already have seen how computer systems in cars do not function all of the time. I wouldn't want it driving me anywhere.

Judy, I have used that nasal spray and did not like it either. In fact I had several in my cabinet that the doctor had given me and would forget and feel desperate and use them again. I through them out a couple of weeks ago when cleaning out cabinets. That way I don't repeat the same mistake. I have thought that I really should try a streaming service again sometime, just to see the different ways to use it on my devices. That way I know if I want to do it any more. I didn't like setting up my cell phone and/or hooking up hdmi to run the workouts. It was just another time consuming process.

We never got out to ride. every time we thought it was good, it looked like another thunderstorm brewing so skipped it and cleaned instead. I did 45 min on the rower, and the abs from HR. I'm pleased with ther rower. a workout doesn't have to "max you out" to be worthwhile. also bicep curls with a resistance band.

many people will not think of things to occupy themselves without jobs..... so they get into trouble. hobbies and interests are important but so is work. drugs.... recreational and otherwise. general mischief. most of us need to be occupied with a job for purpose in our lives. something to work for! too much energy and no place to direct it will lead to social problems for sure. diane sue, I agree that the younger people raised on social media will have problems adapting to criticism and social situations new to them. I have heard firsthand stories.

Good evening ladies,

This morning was. SB advanced lower workout then Barlates Bounce Cardio Intervals. 45 mins|325 cal.

Deb...agilty is a workout! GiGi is doing amazing in day care. She loves it and we are so happy to do this for her. We just started her with 2 days a week and this seems to work for her. She is so active there she seems like she needs her rest days. My husband is home early on Fridays so it is only 2 days a week she is resting. They have several selections they can check off on her report card but every time it is always the same...playful, loving and rambunctious!!! Lol! Yup that is her! I started updated my Live spreadsheet. I am pretty much done. Just need to add in the times. Will send it to you tomorrow

Judy...thanks for the clip. I have not done that one either. I did not realize you still subscribed to On Demand. I played today’s Live on my ipad while working. I pretty much just listened to it. It did look or I should say sounded great. I noticed it was close to 60 mins so this will be one I do on the weekend.

Valerie...years ago I used to work in a bank. We would have 6 to 8 tellers at all times. Not now. Kind of sad. This generation no one talks to people! Yes a good workout does not need to exhaust you!

Caroyln...funny when I started reading your post and you said Body Max 2 the length is exactly what I thought.

Diane Sue...that must have been very fustrating with all the stops during your workout. What is going on with the car? I feel for you! Yup no socialization. Here I am taking my doggie to daycare so she can socialize!

Have a great night all!

Lori, that is great that Gigi is loving the daycare so much. Socializing :) I think the transmission may have went out on that car now. No drive or reverse :( Tomorrow is not looking too promising for me at the moment. Hopefully it is not as stressful.

Lori-I renewed my On Demand subscription for another year. I think I will continue, as the Live workouts are so good. Thank you for updating the Live spreadsheet. It's awesome that you do that!

I agree about the social problems that young people face when they are using devices so much that they don't talk face to face to anyone.

Good morning,

No workout yesterday. Mammogram at 7:20 am. Results were fine.

Diane Sue, I hope your headache is better. That's terrible that your husband's car has to be fixed again...and no response on the laptop! That is so frustrating. It makes me so angry when I see people walking their dog, or walking with a child in a stroller and their head is down looking at their phone.

Carolyn, I agree with Body Max ( I think I have the first, did not know there was a Body Max 2)..being too long. I think I did it once. I don't even remember if it had premixes. It may have been made before Cathe did shorter premixes.

Judy, good job on the workouts. I may do yesterday's Live today. It did look good. Thanks for the info on that nasal spray.

Valerie, I guess I am a cool sleeper too although I have never tried one of those memory foam mattresses. It just doesn;t sound good to me. I hope they never have those driver less cars in my lifetime.

Lori, Gigi would be a great agility dog! Thanks for doing the spreadsheet....it is so helpful. I have all these scrap notes lying around my workout area with Live workouts I want to try...I can toss them when I get your new spreadsheet..:).

Have a great weekend!

This morning I did another part of Body Max 2. I did step combo 1 and the lower body Power Circuits for 53 minutes and 312 calories burned. Average heart rate was 120 and maximum heart rate was 156. I kept the cardio blasts low impact and did some movements on the floor instead of the step.

Deb, I like Body Max 2 better than the Original, but they are both too long! I’m glad that your mammogram results were good.

Diane Sue, that’s terrible that you are having so many problems with your husband’s vehicle and the laptop. Maybe the laptop will be ready today. I usually do the cardio only premix from Body Max 2 also. I love the music for the step combos.

Valerie, that’s great that the rower is turning out to be such a useful purchase. Doing a moderate workout and enjoying it is a good thing.

Hello to Lori and Judy.

I am slow today. I have heard nothing on the Range Rover or the computer. My husband took my car to work. So, after about 3 texts and a phone call to the automotive repair, I got through a workout. I was exhausted afterward and had some protein powder and yogurt then took a nap. It was one of those nights where I dropped off to sleep, only to wake up at 2 am thinking about everything, but sleep. I did X train All Out Low Impact step using the step at 6 inches, 41 minutes, 261 calories, heart rate average 125, max 155, 2,974 steps. I then did Strong and Sweaty Bonus abs, 13 minutes, 57 calories, and finished off with Les Mill Flow (yoga) 21 minutes, 46 calories. I also did Knee hab prehab again. Total time 75 minutes, 364 calories. Here is an interesting link that Chris Kressor sent emailed out about devices and children, although a lot of it affects adults, I think particularly young adults as well since they started out with all of this. It is kind of long and I did skim a bit of it. It is kind of frightening what all of this does to young people psychologically. I have seen young children scream at parents over their tablets and having to stop what they were doing on them and it is terribly hard to get their attention.

Deb, glad that your mammogram was fine. They usually are, but it always feels good to get it out of the way and know that everything is good. I have seen people sitting at the park while their children play and try to swing on their own. The adult is too busy on their phone to enjoy the playtime with the children or just enjoying watching them play and being outdoors. Sometimes I think someone could come and whisk the child away and they might not even notice if the child didn't scream. Things are way different. Awareness of surroundings is just not there. I always like Body Max 1 and 2. I have combined portions of the two, like just the upper weights from both, just the power step cardio portions from both that work lower and do cardio, and just the step without strength from both. There are ways to make them into shorter great workouts. If you do the entire workout though, you burn quite a lot of calories.

Carolyn, nice way to use Body Max 2 :) I agree number 2 is better, although I did number 1 in it's entirety a lot when I first got it. The music from Body Max 2 is fun :) We have only had this vehicle since December and I would like to go find the man we bought it from and give him a piece of my mind. He told us that he had taken it to a local service center and had it gone over and oil changed etc. before he put it up for sale. I am not happy. That laptop is pretty new and we both tend to think virus, but our anti virus people said there are no threats.

We did a mt bike this morning that was lovely but a little hard. part up road for most msot the elevation gain, and then rolling gorgeous country with flowers. bitterroot, my favorite. the flowers are fantastic but lots of kinds and small so they don't look impressive in a picture. not that I've figured out how to post anything anyway. about 2.5 to 3 hrs. forgot to stop the timer.
we are heading home tomorrow. a long driving day.
diane sue we had a jeep grand Cherokee. there was always something wrong with it. always! being a frequent flyer at the service dept gets old. we traded it in and moved to a small Toyota truck. sometimes the basic product/model is a lemon. it seems you have given this more than a fair shot. yeah, know it's a big expense and PITA process but if your vehicle is not reliable, what good is it?

deb that is so great you get results immediately. would love that. I remember reading how there are laws being written ( other countries) to accommodate people walking along not looking where they're going because of phone use. the aversion to actual conversation, on phone or otherwise , seems a bad sign for employability. how will someone not used to conversing do in a job interview? or in a job where they need to talk to customers. if people don't even talk to their own kids, its scary.

Good evening ladies,

This morning I did the most recent LEKfit Bounce for this week but with only the arm interval. I then added on a 10 min BBS Total Upper and finished with SB Bis and Tris. Arms were done in at this point. Total time was 52 mins / 373 cal.

Diane Sue...well that stinks with your husbands car. Hoping it is not the transmission. You managed to get a great workout in. I have nights like that. Wake up with so many thoughts running thru my mind.

Judy...I only have Live. I started off with Demand but did not need it. It is very convenient though. When she first started with On Demand her plan was to have One On One’s in addition to her workouts. If she was to have these then I most likely would sign back up. The Live workouts have been great. Once I was thinking about stopping but I am loving them even if I only get in one a week. I have the spread sheet done. Need to sign on to my laptop to post and send to you and Deb.

Deb...that is great to get the results immediately. This is when technology is good! I agree GiGi would be great at agility. She has tons of energy and seems to follow commands very well all while being a total lovebug!! Throw out the post it notes!! The list is coming tomorrow!!! Hard to believe she is at 201. Crazy how this flew by.

Valerie...if you think a ride is hard it must have been tough! Sounds nice though with all the flowers.

Carolyn...hard to believe you did a portion of the workout and it was 53 mins long. I looked Body Max 2 up to refresh my memory of it and thought it odd seeing Cathe’s abs! I always wondered why she does not show them off anymore. I am sure she looks amazing.

Diane Sue and Carolyn...I have seen a couple of posts on the forums asking Cathe to do a rebounding workout. I would love that!!!

Have a great night all!

Valerie, your ride sounds nice even if it was a rough ride. I guess that makes it a challenge :) I have tried to take a picture and post from my cell phone and tapatalk and I end up with a huge picture. I always have to download the picture and shrink it before I can post. It is kind of a nuisance.
We just said this last time we fixed the Range Rover that we had so much in to it and now it is not looking promising. We could have purchased a new car for what we have in this vehicle. My daughter had a lot of problems at first with her Jeep Grand Cherokee too. When she first got it the passenger door would not latch a lot of the time and the vehicle was new and they couldn't seem to come up with a part for a long time to fix it. I remember riding with her and holding the door shut.

Lori, that would be fun if Cathe made a rebounding workout. Does your bungees seem to be holding up well on your Jump Sport? Someone was talking to me about hers that she just got and she was worried since it said it was 90 dollars for a set of replacements and that they said that they wear and need replaced once in while. Also how strong are the plastic things that hold them? Do you step on the bungees? I know, a lot of questions :) I never worry about stepping on the springs on my Urban Rebounder other than maybe getting caught on one.
