Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 4/24

Good morning,

Yesterday I did Live Strong Total Body, another good weight workout. I have DOMS in my legs which I don't usually get any more. I would rate this one a 5! The streaming video kept freezing again....I went to the Chromecast site and found that it could be when my phone goes into "sleep" mode after 5 minutes....but it doesn't do it at the 5 minute mark of the workout...who knows? I will change the sleep mode setting today and see if it helps.

Josie, wow, that was a tough ride...so that is a typical day of the "real" ride? The Cow Palace! Brings up old memories. John and I went to a gun show there and he bought me a ring that I still wear almost every day. :).

Lynda, so nice that your son will be there with you. Wow that whole experience with your "BIL" sounds awful, but at the end, it turned out right. Your sister was lucky to have a sister like you that would stand up to her DH at the time.

Lori, Nice workouts, you have the Ladies back on track!

Diane Sue, glad that the storms did not hit your areas.....so scary. We get blizzards here that people complain about, but at least they are not life threatening. What did you think of Live Push Pull? I liked it a lot, I think it's a little tougher than the DVD version. I finally ordered my yoga mat from Amazon....I find I cannot do any planks without slipping....I have the puzzle mats on my workout floor and they don't have any grip. I did notice that the first Live workouts were really a lot longer...I have not done any of them.

Hi to Judy and the travelling Valerie!

A workout, then if John goes fishing, yard work if it warms up, or maybe attic cleaning...ugh...I dread that one.

Take care,

Hi everyone--

This morning I did Cardio Core Circuit Live (46 min.). Like Deb, I enjoy this one too, although some of the jumping is a bit much. It's over so quickly though, that it doesn't seem to bother my knees.

I don't know what's up with my shoulder. It felt fine this morning when I got out of bed and did my Cathe, it's fine now, but the aching seems to recur in the afternoon. Sigh--I hate to see a doctor with such intermittent issues.

Lori, I didn't want to deal with taking the ashes on an airplane. I just had a bad feeling about trying to get through security, even if the airline was okay with transport. One of the things I discovered is that every airline has its own protocols on this. At least with USPS, the rules are clear, and priority express is so fast--over night from here to California. My son picked up the package at noon the next day.

We went out to dinner last night to celebrate a friend's birthday and I had a really yummy grilled salmon meal with a fennel salad. It helped that the weather was beautiful. I intend to plant some perennials this afternoon--poppies, phlox, and a hibiscus. I hope the spring weather isn't too hard on them.

Deb, when you give a workout a rating of 5 is it on a scale of 1-5 or 1-10??

Hope everyone is having a good week!

Today was a cardio ab day for me. I did Cathe Live Cardio Mish Mosh 44 minutes, 302 calories, 122 avg/ 159 max heartrate. This had quite a few moves that I never cared for. The jumping over the bands is one, 1 arm burpees , and those running and moving dumbbells back and forth. It is probably just me. It did move pretty quickly I did Kelly Coffey Athletic Conditioning 2 workout 2 core and flexibility, 26 minutes, 100 calories. Total time 68 minutes, 402 calories. I am hoping to do today's Live workout in the morning since it is lower body. Sometimes I wish they announced a couple of days in advance so if it is weight work you can adjust what you are doing the day before. I cancelled going on with it the first. I will probably come back to it though. I miss my dvd workouts and all of the options. I have really done a lot of them and it has been fun doing different stuff almost daily. I did repeat some of them or parts of them.

Deb, I think I had to do something with my phone settings. I just use a plug to the phone though instead of mirroring. It never goes to sleep while streaming but it will when the workout is don after a few minutes unless I push the back button to the menu. It is the same when I use my table for my Bluetooth heartrate monitor. I had to do something with settings but it was easy because my tablet prompted it. It stays on the whole time I am using the polar app. I liked the Live Push Pull workout. It seems like the original one was a bit lighter on the weights?? I remember trying to heavy up with it but I have not done it in forever.

Lynda, I think the jumping is not near as hard in Cardio Core Circuit live as the dvd. I do modify some. Speaking of jumping Cardio Mish Mosh had a lot!! I was on and off the rebounder and got tired of kicking my band around the room. I fully expected a higher heart rate for the work I was doing. I had days where I would wake up without the shoulder pain and then it would start aching in the afternoon across my traps and lats and up into my neck. I kept thinking maybe it was my body carrying around the weight of my head. I found some of it is sitting at the computer a lot and so now I try to stop and go do something else for awhile and come back. It sounds like a nice evening and dinner sounds yummy. My hibiscus is leafing out. I don't think I cut it off quite as much as I should have in the fall though. Poppies are so pretty but, I never see them around Oklahoma. I wonder if it is the climate zone.

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I did Spinerval 50.0, 2 hours and 35 minutes and 50 miles. My heart rate average was 123 and max was 144. I wanted to stay in zone 2 for most of the ride so it wasn't an interval workout. I looked back in my logs and this was the longest ride I've done since Feb. 2014. Today I did a 30 minute Spinerval. My shoulder feels a little better but I'm staying away from heavy upper body workouts for another week or so. It just feels like something is strained, but I only feel it when I challenge it, so it's not a constant pain.

Deb-I had trouble streaming again, with both Cathe and SB. I found that they both work fine streaming to my iPad or MacBook but as soon as I try to mirror the iPad or MacBook to the TV, it goes haywire. I'm going to give up trying to use the TV and just use the MacBook, since it has a bigger screen than the iPad.

Lynda-I'm so sorry that you had to go through that with your BIL. That would be a horrible experience :(
I hate to see the doctor about my shoulder too. That grilled salmon with fennel salad sounds really good! I should remind Chris that we need to go out to dinner again soon. Thanks for the Veep update. I'll probably break down and sign up for HBO Now so I can watch this season.

Diane Sue-great workouts today! I do agree about the Live workouts, it would be nice to know what workout they are doing a couple of days before, not just the day before. I still love the DVDs too. I think the Cardio Core Circuit DVD is pretty tough. I haven't done the Live version yet.

Josie-Great ride! Awesome that you went spinning the next day too.

Lori-I have a pair of 10 lb ankle weights. I have no idea what possessed me to get those since there is no way I can do anything with them. At least they are adjustable so I can take some of the weights out. I also have a 1 lb pair so I will try those and see if I need to go up.

What was I thinking???

Hi to Valerie!

Judy

Good evening ladies!

Today ended up being a rest day. Was going to workout at lunch with the ladies but The Christmas Tree Shop was having a sale and calling my name. So that was my lunch workout running up and down the isle to make sure I got back to work in time. :)

Deb...I have not done that workout yet. Is this with a barbell? Even though I sub dumbbells if the live workout uses mainly the dumbbell I seem to over look them. That would drive me nuts if the workoit kept freezing! Once in a blue moon I have a freezing issue so I drop down to the lesser quality video and that always has fixed the problem for me. 3 of the workout ladies went to the Christmas Tree shop with me. They also preferred shopping over working out today.

Lynda...I know how you feel. Mine bothers me off and on. I really should have it checked out again but then it seems fine for a while so I don't. Glad using the USPS was easier and nice your son received it without incident. After I planted our patio flowers the temp has really dropped. Hoping all will be good. I hate to plant and do yard work so if I have to do it twice will really bother me. Your meal sounds wonderful.

Diane Sue...I did the Cardio Mish Mosh only once. For some reason it just did not appeal to me. I agree about Cardio Circuit DVD vs the Live workout. DVD is crazy hard non stop which is not too bad but the rolling on the ground ab work is too much for me. I remember struggling even when I was modifying!

Hi to Judy, Valerie and Josie!!!

Judy...we posted at the same time! I would die using 10lb ankle weights for barre!!! 1.5 seem to be perfect for me. Glad I also have 2lbs weights should I want to increase. Great rides!!!

Good morning,

No workout yesterday, a rest day. Not that I needed it, just being lazy I guess. I still have Doms in my legs from the one I did Wednesday.

Lynda, maybe your shoulder needs a complete week of no weight work? I found modifying Cardio Core Circuit pretty easy...there was one where she jumps in a box formation that I had a hard time figuring out a modification. I ended up doing it the way she did, and it didn't bother me either. My rating is on a 0-5 scale. Most are 4's., there are none that I have rated lower than a 3. No real science to it, just how much I enjoy the workout and find that I want to repeat it often. I am thinking of signing up for a year at the end of my current paid up month. I wish I would have gotten in on the 15% off, but missed it. I found Last Tango in Paris and Scott & Bailey DVD's at the library....I think Valerie recommended both, have you seen them? I wish they would have Happy Valley, but don't. :(.

Diane Sue, I think I remember that Cardio Mish Mosh as having a lot of jumping...I probably rated it a 3..LOL...:). I also wish they would announce the new workout in advance, and also, when the put the clip of it up on Thursday afternoon, tell how long it is. We are not asking for too much are we? :). I agree, the regular Push-Pull seemed easier.

Judy, wow, that was a long spinning workout! I feel your pain on the casting to the TV....I will try my phone today with changing the setting on it that has the screen going blank after 5 minutes....I have a feeling this is not it though. I don't think I could even walk with those ankle weights, let alone lift my leg...maybe they are for sitting on a bench and doing leg lifts for quadriceps?

Lori, Love The Christmas Tree Shop! It's one of those places that you get sucked into buying all kinds of stuff you don't need....:) :). No barbell in Strong Total Body. I hope your flowers survive....I'm with you....I would be very annoyed if I had to plant them twice!

Hi to Valerie & Josie,

A workout, then meeting my friend for breakfast...

Any fun plans for the weekend?

Take care,

I'm back, got back last night. had planned on staying half a day Friday but yesterday was SO good we decided Friday could only be anticlimactic so we started home mid afternoon. Not everything went exactly as planned but it was a really great trip. the weather was mostly lovely. the riding was terrific. we did one serious hike that turned out only so-so destination but still fun. Trees down across the access road so we loaded up the bikes and rode to the trailhead, locked out bikes to a tree, and hiked from there. Turned out to be a lot of work for so-so views, but that's OK. we must have had a harder winter than I thought, as downed trees were quite an issue every place we went. I took pictures mostly yesterday. the wild flowers were just amazing. as usual, reality was better than the pics but you can get an idea.
so in my usual lack of electronic expertise, how do I post from an iphone? I bought a book but it is turning out to mostly "promote" phone features, and doesn't tell you how to do much of anything.

thank you for your thoughts on my brother. Lori, you are right, a lot of T2 diabetes is controlled by how you handle it. Mother Nature has fairly simple rules and it's best not to defy those rules! My brother acts like "nature" will not take its course. I haven't heard any more since last week. At least it's manageable. so much better than it used to be now that home glucose monitoring is so easy . his big deal is he won't take insulin and he needs it. If he'd lost weight, ate right and exercised, maybe he could have avoided needing insulin, but he didn't so he does.

Judy, that is a looong indoor ride. we did several rides over 4 days, yesterday close to 4 hours, but somehow it's different outside with changing scenery and a lot of posture and walking breaks. too steep or too rocky means hike-a-bike! 10 lb ankle weights... I agree, what were you thinking?
yes, we are quite the dysfunctional family.... but everything is really pretty simple.... people just don't like each other or get along very well. relationships aren't complicated.
Deb, that would be Last Tango in Halifax. I enjoyed it a lot. Keep you eye out for Happy Valley, it's also a good one, and we came across it accidentally looking thru the streaming choices. we are doing a rerun of Breaking Bad. Neither of us remember the first part of it at all. almost like we didn't see it, and I suppose it's possible we missed a disk or two way back when and didn't realize it.

Lynda, wise move not bringing ashes thru security. I wouldn't want to take a chance about airline protocol, especially if they can be shipped easily. carry on is so limited and I'd worry more about TSA. . family, relationships, deaths, and division of assets sure can spin into a complicated situation.
I really like salmon especially grilled. I wish DH would eat it but he fusses about it so I am stuck with restaurants. I've vowed to try some Copper River salmon this year to see what all the fuss is about. limited time and expensive but supposed to be very good.

Hi Ladies,

Happy Friday! I went to see the eye specialist on Monday regarding the tear on my right retina and it has healed perfectly and I don't have to be back for 6 months. I decide that the surgery can wait for a long while. I also had my blood work done for my physical on May 3rd and I'm happy to report that my cholesterol has gone down another 7 points and my LDL went from 129 to 113. My Dr. is going to be proud of me :)

I did not workout on Wednesday, went to bodypump and Karina came over on Thursday. Karina made use do a lot of functional training with bands and today I'm very sore. Those bands really work out the small hidden muscles. I might go spinning or do 3 mile run around my house today. Have not made up my mind yet. Tomorrow we are doing 47 miles on the same course I did last weekend with all the hills. A necessary evil :(

Garance, I wish I would see you in SF, but I know you will be busy. I'm glad that things worked out with you DS estate.

Judy, you should do ALC in 2018 when I will be doing it again :). You already have lot of miles under your belt.

Valerie, hope that you are having a nice trip,

Hi to Lori and Diane Sue!

Josie

Hi everyone--

This morning I did Lower Body Burn Live (52 min.). Another good one, but I will give it a 4 because there are too many jumping jacks I had to modify.

Deb, I have been trying to give my shoulder a longer than usual rest period. It feels good now. Last Tango in Paris is a 1972 film by Bernardo Bertolucci and starring Marlon Brando. Very controversial when it came out, and I have taught it a couple times and written about it in relation to his later film, The Last Emperor. But what you want is the BBC series Valerie told us about. I have been enjoying it and I'm still on season 2. I guess I would call it a dramedy because it's both comic and melodramatic at times. Very well done. Also loved the two seasons of Happy Valley.

Judy, what an incredible ride! And yes, 10 lb. leg weights are crazy heavy. Cannot imagine doing any of the floor work in LBB above with those. The tech who installed our Apple TVs told me not to use mirroring for streaming Cathe from my iPad. I find my Live workout at google chrome, choose airplay and the input for Apple TV and let her rip. I can't remember why he said not to use mirroring, but he did have an explanation for it.

Diane Sue--no way I would even try the Cardio Mish Mosh. The little picture of it has Cathe doing an air jack. I did not buy the Cardio Core Circuit dvd and from what you say, it sounds like another one not for me. The live version is within my comfort level. I don't know about poppies--I thought they were pretty tough perennials that would grow anywhere, but I have never had any luck with seeds. So this time I decided to put in plants and see if that will do the trick. They are so wildly colorful that I really want some, and Burpee had a sale on them. Worth a try.

Lori, I have never been in a Christmas Tree Shop. What kinds of things do they carry? I don't know what you planted, but it is still pretty early to plant any annuals other than pansies here, and because of our elevation, way too early. You would be safe with some perennials unless we get a hard freeze and snow.

Valerie, you sound very refreshed from your trip and all those beautiful wildflowers. I have had to deal with two of my sisters' estates. The first one had to go through probate, which was a real pain, and it was divided up between me and my sons, which created other issues. My older sister's estate was a living will/trust and should/would have gone smoothly except for the lawyer letting my sister down and/or believing my BIL about how urgent it was for the bank to take over as executor. I really don't know. I do remember the last time we visited her (about two weeks before her death), she insisted I pack up her silver and her jewelry and take it with us. Crazy! My BIL seemed to be in some kind of dementia induced stupor and did bizarre things like waking us up in the middle of the night with his noisy effort to fix the ice maker on the refrigerator. I have thought at times about writing a piece for a magazine about the whole thing because it was so nuts, and my sister was so angry and I didn't really know exactly why. She did not go gentle into that good night. The funeral was equally zany. I did not know that there were people who just go to funerals for 'fun' or some kind of macabre curiosity. So I think I am introducing myself to a friend and it turns out to be a complete stranger--"Ah didna know your sister but Ah'm a membar of tha church." My version of an Oklahoma accent. One of my sister's friends was named Yvonne, but she pronounced her name Whyvawn. It was too much for me to take in at the time. My DH just thought everyone was a "wack job."

Josie, I would love to see you too, but I don't know what the plans are. I may be meeting future in-laws and I have a friend from San Diego who may fly up to see me. Good news about your retina and your cholesterol. I am due for my annual physical on May 13.

I hope you don't mind that I join this checkin as I am 52 now. I did Hard Strikes today, and yesterday I did some HIIT and my upper body. I adore Cathe's workouts, and sometimes, I jog outside.

Today I did yesterday's live workout, Legs with Weights and Barre, 53 minutes, hr.. avg. 99/max 132, 241 calories. I then did Live Crush it Low Impact , 34 minutes, hr. avg. 116/max. 143, 211 calories. I finished off with Tai Cheng final phase neural reboot 29 minutes, 78 calories. This made the workout long but I really did want to get in the flexibility work. My neck was a bit achy and this helped. Total time was 1 hr 56 minutes,580 calories.
Legs with weights and barre (this was done with pretty much 10# dumbbells throughout
requires a gliding disc, firewalker band and a chair or barre
pretty long warm up about 9 minutes
squat press alternated with squat march 10's$
10's # lunges holding in each hand each side then holding both weights in one hand 4 reps then 7 pulses
lunge kick 10's# 7 reps then other leg repeat
@15 minutes firewalker loop on jacks turn scissor, jacks turn repeat 2x
foot in out with punch, jacks repeat other side
firewalkers then remove loop
lateral walk with 10's# 4 pulses then return
firewalker loop on jump rope, jacks, forward back attack jump
remove band
warrior lunge
10's Lateral walk with pulses, plie pulses repeating
break then short lateral walk then finish as plie pulses
10's # side lunge alternating then squats in the middle repeating ending 15 and 1 then hover squats 2x
disc side slide lunge
10's# single leg deadlift ( I used 15's)
disc warrior lunge ending with a run
cross back lunge 10# 7&1, 15 & 1, 7 $1, 3& 1 singles
keep band and get out the chair for barre work @ 35 minutes works all angles and calves

Caitlin, welcome. I haven't been checking in here with this group very long myself. I think we all love Cathe :)

Judy, that was a long ride :) I have used 5# each ankle weights before. I used to use them for pretty much all floor work and I even did Brazil Butt lift Masters higher and tighter with 5#. I do remember putting 2 5#'s on one leg before doing some of the original Firm workouts. It just seems having something that heavy hanging on the ankle would be kind of hard on the knee depending on the move. Maybe leg extensions seated would be okay.

Lorie, it got easier for me to roll to the ground and get back up doing core work. Cathe doing that was not so hard after I got used to doing some of the budokon workouts where he flows to the floor and back into his stances like warrior etc.. Those are some tough martial arts and yoga type workouts and get pretty fast paced. I haven't done them in awhile because I worry a bit about my neck issues.

Deb, I think that there was a longer premix on the push pull dvd that I used to do that made it harder along with going a bit heavier. Yes, the time length of the live workout on Thursday being posted ahead of time would be good too.

Valerie, I just cook my salmon or what I like and feed my husband something else. You should be able to plug your iPhone in and get your pictures on iTunes. I used to move my iPhone picks from iTunes to my desktop for use or to my pictures folder. I doubt it has changed that much. You can post straight from your phone but I tried that and my pictures were huge. I don't know about resizing them on the phone.

Josie, nice work on the cholesterol :) I am glad to hear that your eye is all healed.

Lynda, I remember when we went to visit friends in Michigan that there were a lot of poppies growing there. I was fascinated by how beautiful they were. They used to grow along the sides of the road in England. I used to see a lot of poppies and daffodils growing all over there. I hope that you have luck growing them from plants. LOL on the Oklahoma accent. I could not imagine going out of my way to go to funerals for people I do not know or even that I hardly know. My husband just did the accent thing on a facebook post someone from my son in law and daughter in laws family had posted with them looking like hillbillies with half their teeth. He added the wording to it too, as a tease of course. :)

Diane sue, he hates the smell of salmon so even if I make it for myself , I get hassled! he has a very good sense of smell, and mine is pathetic so I try to be fair. My sense of smell was never very good and it's deteriorated. I think cooking salmon smells good, though.
I did send some pics to my neighbor right from the iphone. we are going to wait a few days before transferring them to the desktop because we are having service come out again tomorrow. more problems.
I will ask this guy ( or CS) about outlook vs outlook express vs gmail. I'm pretty sure this is plain Outlook. used to be Hotmail and still shows that on our ipad. I have a gmail address that I registered for ages ago but seldom use.... just as backup. It's such a pain to change addresses, I want to be sure that will address the problem.

Valerie, my husband used to complain about onions, fish, curry and coffee smells. He finally just accepted that I love those things and he doesn't say anything anymore. He doesn't get as strong of a coffee odor since I went to a French press maker. Maybe you could cook it on an outdoor grill in foil. That is sort of a hassle though. I am eating mahi mahi for dinner :)
I email myself pictures that I want to use online for easier access to them.

Good morning,

Yesterday I did Live Cardio Circuit Challenge Express, I only did the first 30 minutes. I rated it a 3/5 yesterday, mainly because although it is a fun workout, and nice and short, ( 38 minutes), it has some parts that are not easily modified. By the time I figured out how to modify something, Cathe was already moving on to the next exercise. Some I couldn't modify so I did them as is...mistake. Today, after feeling how my knees are, I think I will change it to a 2. Ouch.

Caitlin, Welcome!

Lori, I will let you describe The Christmas Tree Shop to Lynda. :).

Valerie, it sounds like you had a nice trip. As for posting from an iPhone, I haven't a clue! I am probably the only one here with an Android phone. I can post with that, but have not done any posting with Pics...and I don't like using it because the screen is so small. I do what Diane Sue does if I tale pics on my phone, I email them to myself then put them on my regular desktop PC and use them from there for posting, etc. LOL on Last Tango in Paris....I knew the correct name, but this just came out when I was typing and did not notice it. If you have Outlook, try to get the full one..., Express is lacking a lot of the normal features.

Josie, that is great that your eye issue is resolved and you do not have to go back for 6 months. Good job on getting the cholesterol numbers down. You are still taking that supplement?

Lynda, That whole thing with your sister does sound bazzae. Yes, I requested Last Tango in Halifax from the library. .I am not sure if I typed it...I don't think Windows has the auto-correct typing feature that the iPad does so I must have done it subconsciously. I can't use mirroring either with Google Chrome...I think its' because Cathe has not yet developed the app that is needed with to mirror. I asked about on this thread the other day...http://cathe.com/forum/threads/cathe-com-app-to-use-with-chromecast.303957/...

Diane Sue, we had a big barrel planter with huge orange poppies, they came out in early spring, but only lasted a couple of days. They were beautiful though. LOL on the accent thing...Judy ( here) did it too.

Judy, funny you and Chris feeling like you need to go out to dinner more, I need to cook more at home. We eat out way too much.

Agility class this morning, then HouseMax or yard work if it warms up a bit.

Take care,

Good morning ladies!

Yesterday was the Live workout from Thursday, leg weights and barre. I lovd it and thought it just moved along. She used 10lb weights thoughout and at times I went to 12 or 15 depending on the move.

Welcome Caitlin!

Deb...this is a 50 minute workout but you can easily stop after the weight work and not do the barre. After reading some reviews on this over at VF they stated the warmup is really long. Since I was doing this in the morning I did my own warm up then moved on to the workout to save a few minutes. Worked out well.

Valerie...welcome back! Sounds like a really great trip. Glad to hear your brother is doing better. For my Iphone I signed on to cathe.com in Safari. From here scroll down and you should see Cathe Forums. Click on this link then click on "Add to Home Sceen" by clicking on the box with arrow on the bottom. Let me know if this makes sense. There is also an app but I prefer to go this route. Hope this helps.

Josie...so glad you eye is all good. Awesome news!! Band workouts always get you good. We have a leg one we do at the office. Works you deep on the gultes, inner and outer. Ladies love it.

Lynda...did not realize there are no Christmas Tree Shops over your way. Hmmm how to describe...pretty much eveything you need at great prices...when you need inside or out side seasonal items from furniture to paper plates you name it you can find it here. I bought some cushions for my outside furniture, plus some cute decor items. It's a great place not a cheap discount dollar store at all. I believe they are now owned by Bed Bath and Beyond. I felt the same way about the Lower Body Burn. Glad your shoulder is better.

Judy...we are a stay at home couple too. Both coming from the restaurant industry we prefer meals at home. We'll go out now and then but not a weekly thing. Get in any SB at all this week?

Diane Sue...good for you doing all that core workout in that dvd. It was an accident waiting to happen for me! What were your thoughts on the Thursday Leg workout? Awesome followng up with the low impact workout.

Last night we made a nice fire and was just relaxing have a glass of wine. An hour or so into it we hear a coyote in the yard and he did not sound happy. We made an urgent run for the house and stayed a while. Then we both went out to make sure the fire was out. Felt it was best for both to go instead of just one of us. Scared the crap out of me. Never have they been this brazen! Thank goodness where we let the dogs out it is all fenced in. But to be sure the dogs, especially my little Nilla will be going out with one of us from now on.

I'll try mailing pics to myself and also try safari. we are still having some weird problems. SIL/BIL's address keeps getting deleted from DH's desktop. we've added it back in numerous times now. it was gone again yesterday. we're going to try to add it back to contacts from an email she sent us. the first couple times I though maybe I'd made a mistake, but no, we didn't delete a contact. it's not even that simple, no way to do it accidentally. the cable people are coming today again because our phone line keeps dropping off. luckily they can detect the drops on their end so they know we're not imagining this.

we are taking a major garden day today. everything is growing like crazy and we have 3 days of "warm and sunny" coming.

We watched "Room" last night. I enjoyed it... the reviews vary widely, 5 star (loved it) or one star.( hated it). Not a lot of middle ground. It's a about a woman imprisoned in a shed for about 7 years with a child from the man who has locked her inside . it's a little hard to imagine any "normal" person would allow this to happen but we know ,in reality, it's happened to several women. so if you can accept that this is possible, then the movie is quite good. Depends a lot on whether you find the child believable, and I did. with reservations.... a lot of the story focuses on what happens after.
ETA diane sue, my DH doesn't like curry smells either. however, neither do I. I love the flavors but hate smelling it in the kitchen for days after. I'm very aggressive about cleaning everything after, and don't do it very often. the salmon is his issue , and same thing, I make sure I don't get too much spatter, wash immediately after etc. but mostly, I don't have salmon often.
