Good morning,

Kylee is better today so I will take her and try again. Hopefully she will be more attentive!

Diane Sue, all that calculating would give me a headache! I just take what my HRM says and record it. :). Your house will look so nice when it is done.

Carolyn, I like your term: "shopping my closet". I do that too, but sometimes just have to break down and buy some new things. I bet you have to because of your success with WW.

Lori, that is what I was thinking when I watched the clip....wow, she is using the ball more than ever!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Good Morning Everyone,

We are having beautiful weather this weekend. It's sunny and in the 60's. We did have frost last night, but it will warm up by noon. I went for a walk outside yesterday and it felt so good to be in the sun. I plan to get outside more today too.

Did anyone see the new workout that KCM put up on youtube? It's only her and it's done in her basement gym at home. I'm going to check it out later.

Deb-I'm glad Kylee is better. Hope she has a better day today.

Carolyn-I need to shop my closet more. I get in a rut and wear the same things over and over. Great job on Party Rockin Step. One of these days I'll try doing step again.

Lori-I like using the ball too. I haven't been using it much lately but I want to get back into it. I just put more air into mine as it was getting low.

Diane Sue-I record all my workouts and calorie burns too. I feel like my Garmin with the HRM strap gives the most accurate reading. The Fitbit seems low and the Apple Watch seems way too high. I do sometimes use all three. I like comparing. For instance, I did a Spinerval a couple of weeks ago and used all three. The workout was 45 minutes. My Garmin results were 354 calories burned, HR avg 130, max 161. Apple Watch-891 calories, HR avg 133, max 161, and Fitbit-288 calories, HR avg 138-158. I'm impressed with how close the optical HR readings are to the chest strap, but the calorie variations are really extreme. My favorite is using the Apple Watch with the armband, but I wish the calorie readings were more accurate.

Valerie-I hope you are having a good trip!

Judy

I'm back. all went well although not a lot of activity except sitting and driving. we did one bike ride, the Coeur d'Alene trail in northern ID. it was the one sunny day we'd planned for. a little early with trees not leafed out yet. we saw loads of ducks and birds, a muskrat sunning itself, and dozens of huge painted turtles. white pelicans and osprey. we saw moose poop and moose tracks but no moose. very easy riding. we did 25 miles. an older man and his grandson were fishing and the boy caught the biggest fish I'd ever seen. a pike. was 3-4 feet long!. they rode a short way on the trail and were fishing from the bank. really a riot watching the man try to ride his bike back carrying the huge fish and fishing poles. he didn't have far to go.
our house is coming along though I think still a generous month before being done. all is looking well done and our choices of colors and surfaces work well. DH has decided I was right though, and picking furniture will need to wait until we can see the finished spaces without tools, cardboard and building debris.
we spent a day in Yellowstone. saw the "usual" ..... bison, some with babies, tons of elk, deer, pronghorns, big horn sheep. weather was not good at all so less hiking than we would have liked.

judy those readings are all over the map! it's one reason I've been reluctant to spend the $$ on a device.

"shopping my closet" is a good idea for me too. so much stuff that I don't wear just because I'm in the habit of grabbing the same thing over and over. Carolyn I came back to say congratulations on that incredible loss. be proud! that is a one heck of an accomplishment.

I need to look over last weeks thread. I remember about sunscreen. I usually use estee lauder make up that contains a sunscreen. It's not high spf, but I wear it all day every day. DH uses products from Etta. I haven't tried them yet. I have an additional spf 30 one from Lauder too that I can use on my face .. think it has titanium in it. it is transparent. Dh has tried some with zinc oxide in them and they tend to give the whitish color that looks ridiculous even on very pale skin.

I try to use spf 30 on my arms and legs but more likely to wear sun block clothing, light nylon shirt, nylon pants, brimmed hat. wrap around sunglasses. usually banana boat brand "sport" for arms and legs. I have trouble with the feel of many sunscreens. I don't go to tropical places or sit around in the sun. I get a light "hikers tan" every year, enough color so I don't worry about burning. I know that's not a good thing, but I like a little color and don't go overboard. I need to use insect repellant sometimes too, and I can't use that plus sunscreen.

This is my rest day, but I did a short 20 minutes on the treadmill. Valerie, it sounds like you had a good trip. It's wonderful that the house is almost done. Waiting to see the blank canvas before deciding on furniture sounds like a good idea.

Deb, you are right about my need for new clothes. After losing over 50 pounds I had no clothes left to wear. I went backwards with the sizes in the closet, but at this weight I only had professional work clothes left.

Diane Sue, my Fitbit is the Charge 2. I've had it for a year and a half. I will get a Charge 2 or Blaze.

Hi to Lori, Judy, and Caitlin.

Today was a rest day. We have been putting things away and my husband has been hanging pictures. Gertie seems happy to have things back in their place. Her crate was in the sunroom behind the furnishings and things and she has spent a lot of time in it since she can get at it again. She does not normally spend a lot of time in it , but she would walk to the sunroom and whimper about it. I even had purchased her a new larger bed for in the living room since she seems a bit uncomfortable with lying around on flooring. She keeps going upstairs where the carpet is. She will adjust though.

Deb, I am glad Kylee is feeling better. Was it anxiety maybe. I know Gertie gets an upset stomach when thing are different. We had a couple of days here with the workers all over and her having to stay upstairs. I know nothing else had changed. She got over it okay though.

Judy, I saw that on face book and watched a bit of Kelly's you tube. I want to check it out. I have her last two dvds coming from Amazon. I pre-ordered them when I saw them there so I had to wait till they can ship them. I have found it odd how most of the time my heart rate readings are very close on most devices. They just seem to calculate calories differently. I have found that when I use the Map my Fitness App along with my Fit bit through blue tooth that it depends on what exercise setting I set on MMF how different it will be. MMA will give a huge calorie burn when I set it for that while I am using the kickboxing setting on the Fit Bit which is half as many calories. If I use just aerobic on MMF while doing kickboxing it is closer to the Fit Bit. I take all of the readings and look at Cathe's workout manager and I will take the one that I feel is the closest to what it should be from my years of experience with different devices and what is normal for me. The Calories burned app usually is pretty close most of the time using the net calories. Once in awhile I think it seems high. I know the Fit Bit is pretty accurate because my dentist even compared with what she got and it does match up. I have worn more than one device to compare before along with using the blue tooth apps. I wish the Polar app worked with the Fit Bit. I liked it better than Map My Fitness.

Valerie, I love watching Bison for some reason. We had a neighbor that had one that they had since it was a baby. It would come up to the fence and people would stop and pet it and take pictures standing in front of the fence where it was at. It was sad when he sold the property and moved his pet away. The devices are just guidelines that help you know where you are at in your training. I would buy another Fit Bit even though it tends to give low calorie readings. I would rather it be low than way over. At least I know my other readings are accurate. I like using it better than a strap and the polars tend to go crazy when the batteries get low. So far I have not had the Fit Bit give crazy heart rates at 198 to 225 bpm when standing still and drop off to zero at times. That was frustrating and wasted a lot of my time.
It sounds like you had a fun trip.

Carolyn, it seems to me like you have earned some new clothes to wear. Great job on the weight loss. My husband lost 75 # and we have been restocking his closet. He had got rid of all of his smaller clothes. I don't change much in size myself. I just need to update some of my stuff. I had contemplated the Fit Bit Charge HR.

Good morning,

No success at the trial yesterday, Kylee was not into it at all. Better luck next time I guess.

Judy, I need to get out in the sun more too. So glad the weather is changing and that can be done now. I did check out the KCM workout on YouTube....did you try it yet? it looks pretty tough!

Valerie, welcome back! It sounds like you had a nice time, great sights.

Carolyn, that is a great accomplishment!

Diane Sue, dogs are definitely "creatures of habit". Nice that your house is almost done. I have fallen behind on getting KCM workouts. I used to immediately pre-order anything she put out, but found that I have not really used the last couple of ones I got, so did not order her last set. Your neighbor had a bison for a pet? Was this out in the country? on a farm?

A workout, then maybe meeting my friend for coffee ( or in my case, tea :).

Take care,

Deb, sorry that Kylee was not into it yesterday. Hopefully it will be better next time. It is hard to explain. On one side of the road there was this house set way back off the road with a huge pond and land. They had the bison. It's name was Hobie. On the other side of the road was our residential area. There is still a lot of building there and it was on the edge of town. This is a city outside of Oklahoma city that is spread out. I probably have a picture of Hobie somewhere. It might take awhile to find it though. The two Kelly's I purchased are the ones you last purchased I think. I just waited till Amazon had them. They were only 10.97 with free shipping. It takes Amazon longer to get the new ones so there is usually a pre-order first.

I guess dogs have motivated days and non motivated days just like us. if she was vomiting maybe she is not feeling 100%.

I did LBB as best as I could and xtrain core 1. LBB starts with a little bit of step work in the warm up that I can't do well, so I just keep moving and let it go at that. think I will get sore from this one.
the parks always warn that the most likely animals to injure people are bison. people will approach bison like they are dairy cows, which they are not. I don't worry about them but when walking we always give them a wide berth since they might have good days and bad days too, and they can move a lot faster than people can. elk don't let you get that close to them but they also can be feisty. seems every year someone gets tossed or their car rammed by one of them. Love to see pics of Hobie!

there was another interesting story that came up while traveling. when I used a vault toilet in the park, I noticed a new "information" sign inside. this type of toilet.. forest service and park service highway departments use them everywhere from highway stops to campgrounds, anywhere where there is no indoor plumbing. they are generally much nicer than porta potties. anyway, the Yellowstone parks vault toilets have new signage inside because apparently foreign born tourists were climbing on top of the toilets and breaking the seats because they didn't under stand how to use them. I'm not being xenophobic or anything here... just a matter of showing people how to use a something so familiar to most of us that we can't imagine not knowing how to use one. apparently dozens of toilet seats were getting broken every year. I thought this was very interesting... here's a linkhttps://www.abqjournal.com/706428/howto-toilet-signs-to-go-up-in-parks.html

so there you go.. who would have imagined this would be a problem? I am left wondering if these visitors flew here on a plane and what kind of challenges happen in a typical airplane bathroom?

Today I did Hammer Total Body, 46 minutes, 203 calories and 10 minute ab hammer, 12 minutes, 43 calories. I finished off with Rock'm Sock'm timesaver 1 warm up, blizzard blast, cooldown, 28 minutes, 188 calories. Total time 86 minutes, 434 calories.

Valerie, why would people just approach a bison in the wilds. Hobie was inside the fence and I never reached over and pet him. He would stand there and look at you while you talked to him. I always marvel at the fact that I played in the field in England by our cottage and hung out with the cows pretending I was a cow too. I always think it is a wonder I was never hurt crawling around like that. My brother and I hung out there all of the time. It was the turkeys I was afraid of because they would chase me. Bulls on the other hand I would stay away from. I saw my son in law run down the hill with a wagon of treats trying to get the cows to come down the hill so my 2 year old grandson who is infatuated with cows could see them. Their bull was running fast. We were afraid for my son in law. He did get gouged another time in his hand and my daughter had to treat it. I always felt that LBB has a bit of cardio built into it between the weighs. I do like that one.
In some of their countries they just use a hole in the ground. Also some of them use one certain hand to wipe themselves without toilet paper. I heard that it is best to know which hand you want to shake. That would be weird for them I guess. LOL on the plane toilet. There wouldn't be much room to stand on it.

Today I did Muscle Endurance, the timesaver premix. The workout was still 64 minutes for me.

Valerie, Estée Lauder is what I have been using for many years and the moisturizer has sunscreen. My daughter has been trying to move me to more natural ingredients ever since I had the breast cancer. I also have a thyroid condition. I am still a work in progress. I have noticed that some products irritate my skin as I've gotten older. I love Lower Body Blast.

I can't imagine that someone would try to get close to a bison herd! I read a blog on the Wild Idea Buffalo website about a guy who has worked with them for years but was injured when he got too close at the wrong time.

Hello to everyone and have a great day.

You see people acting like idiots around wildlife all the time...like it's a Disneyland or something, and the animals aren't wild. last year we saw people reach out their car windows to try and grab bison by the hair! critters get somewhat habituated to people being around all the time, but the park service gives distances to be respected for good reason. the bison walk on roads often and seem slow and dull witted but they are feisty. even domesticated animals like cows, horses, bulls can be. when we hike we give a wide berth. we've had some very close encounters with especially bighorn sheep, but only because they came close to us while we were sitting, and it seemed safer to sit still, not panic and run. a bighorn walked right behind me one time while I was unloading from the car, walked right past me not 3 feet away. I heard steps but assumed it was DH. surprise ! Bighorn ram on his way to someplace, a lot of snow in the parking lot and I didn't realize until too late to move. . we've had wolves pass us closely too. black bears have been close also but not in a dangerous way.

diane sue you are correct on that. I believe left hands are for "hygiene", right hands for everything else.
we knew there were bathroom related issues but this was the first time I knew exactly what it was.

Carolyn, I have rosacea but it's been completely 'gone" for years now. I'm careful about skin products. anything like retin A that causes faster cell turnover is not good. alcohol based products are not good. Moisturizers can give me breakouts so I only use one at night, not during the day. I don't experiment if things work well. estee lauder and cetaphil products are good for me. chemical based sunscreens are irritating.
I have ME but have not done it in ages. LBB made me a little sore, but we went mt biking anyway, 2 hrs and 10 min this morning.

Good evening ladies,

Yesterday, was a Susan Bowen lower body target then I did several of her bouncing workouts. My upper body was a little sore from the previous Cathe Live workout on saturday. Wow did I feel that upper body workout! Today is my rest day.

Deb...poor doggies..when they are on their mark they are amazing. But when they are not feeling it...it is just not happening!

Judy...we have had some rain but yesterday it was so nice out. I love sitting on our outside patio and relaxing. Thanks for the info that KCM posted the youtube workout. I read on her FB page she was planning to do it. I can't wait to check it out. I thought Cathe's most recent upper body workout was great. The ball was a nice change.

Diane Sue...I have a several of KCM workouts and should do them more often as I always enjoyed her workouts. Sounds like your home is coming out nice. Great workout today!

Valerie... so I am confused with the toilet issue...do people not know how to use a toilet so they posted pictures?? I guess so! You have been doing great with your weight workouts. LLB is a favorite of mine. I think the bighorn would have scared the crap out of me.

Have a great evening all!

I went to Beauty brands and picked up the Matcha anti-aging serum from 100% pure today. I think the ingredients look really good. I have been using the Moisturizer for a month now. The serum is an antioxidant serum. I still have to go to Sprouts. I got out to the vet, beauty brands, and Walmart, but was worried I would be pushing it getting home just in case the floor installer came to finish off some caulking. He ended up not coming so I could have probably went anyway. I am wanting to get the grout and tile sealed and do more cleaning and putting things away.

Carolyn, I have been working on switching to natural products. Someday I ant to try the 100% pure foundation even though I love my Tarte foundation. My skin is more and more easily irritated by products. Even eye shadows and blushes. I feel it is getting expensive finding stuff that works. I really liked the Hugo hair products and then Sprouts quit selling it. I got a new flat iron at Beauty brands a couple of weeks ago and picked up a heat protecting spray from the same company as the flat iron, Amica. I have itchy bumps all over my scalp now. I need to color my hair and am afraid to. I have been massaging tea tree oil into my scalp at night.

Valerie, I know I would keep my distance from most of the wild life. We had a raccoon in our yard once and I never realized they were so big. Animal control told me that they can be vicious and it was probably booted out of it's home by building. That it happens a lot. I am glad I didn't try to check it out when it looked like it was dead by our fifth wheel. Later it got up and started moving. They told me it was probably sleeping because normally it would not be wandering around in the middle of the day. I had a friendly looking chipmunk nip at me once when I was a kid. Lesson learned quickly. Even in those wildlife drive through parks the animals are dangerous. They chew tires and butt cars. We had one of those roof tops on our car that opened once and a giraffe stuck it's head in the car. It didn't smell all that nice.

Lori, I really like Kelly's workouts. It just seems that when I get them something else comes out as well and I will do them and they sit for awhile. I really love her Amped up Cardio Live. For some reason I pull that one out for cardio quite a bit.

Lori, apparently there is a percentage of people from various countries who come here for vacation and don't understand American bathrooms. I am not a world traveler so I can't comment on how to figure out bathroom protocol in other countries. maybe it's not obvious to someone who didn't grow up here. yes, these are "printed picture" instructions on the inside of the bathroom door...... I noticed it on my first stop to pee in Yellowstone. I didn't notice this on vault toilets elsewhere on our trip.
in googling it, I found a lot of pictures that showed people sitting "wrong" on an American style toilet in several different ways, but the "perching on top" posture was the strangest. that is the one causing broken seats. Like I said, I have no idea how a traveler gets thru major airports and long plane trips on international flights without confronting a western toilet.....??? does this happen on airplanes too or do Boeing and Airbus design country specific toilets? do Asian or Indian air lines have different toilets for country of origin? Inquiring minds want to know!! no wonder I can't sleep at night!.
the bighorn walked by me just like he was on his way to a destination and was not interested in me at all. he was very close. it wasn't scary. we hiked to a ridgetop one year on my birthday and ended up surrounded by a herd of bighorns grazing close by. we sat down and ate lunch and they grazed in closer and closer until we were in the middle. we felt like one of the boys in the band.

we've had more issues with mice than anything else. ate wiring, chewed up insulation caused major car damage.

Good morning,

No workout yesterday...maybe this morning. The weather is really getting nicer now...I love seeing the sun for a change. :)

Diane Sue, I still can't picture a bison as a pet! He sounds sweet though.

Valerie, that story about the park toilets is funny. Yes, what did they do on a plane?

Lori, several bouncing workouts? Wow...that is amazing! I checked out the KCM raw workout that she filmed in her basement...it looks good, but she uses a BB, which I guess can be subbed with DB's. No warm up though...

Taking Keegan for grooming this morning, then class with Kylee...

Take care,

I would think most animals that have pleasant human contact would be "acclimated" and not as agitated as wild. just not predictable. I've heard stories about people setting their kids up with a piece of food to offer to a while animal to get a cute picture. wow! we saw people in Canada (Jasper NP) feeding wild sheep off a picnic table. I looked for a park person to complain and later wrote a letter but never heard anything back. we also saw a family of black bears begging for food along the road there. so park policy was not working. it might be 'fine' until it's not and someone gets badly hurt, or the animal loses fear of people and raids a campground or tears into a car. plenty of stories about bears in the parks in California demolishing vehicles to get to food. remember back when food dumps were provided for bears in parks and people would go watch them in the evening? there is still footage showing it , along with bears eating handouts from cars. also stories of porcupines eating tires and cables off the undersides of parked cars so people took to surrounding their vehicles with chicken wire to protect them.
raccoons are especially dangerous and can carry diseases and are not cute and cuddly.

Today I did RWH Low Impact HiiT Two early today. I had a dental appointment this morning then went to the doctor with my husband. We spent the day on medical appointments.

Diane Sue, the 100% Pure serum sounds like a good one. I like the ingredients that the company uses in its products. I am using an organic antioxidant serum also.

I hope everyone is having a good day.

Good evening ladies,

This morning I subbed in SB's Bis and Tris instead of the scheduled workout. Plus added in a bellicon workout. Total time was 40 mins/ 325 calories. HR gets up but not ridiculous with the bellicon workout. I turned the volume down and listened to my own music to mix things up a bit. Really enjoyed and and very easy to follow along.

Diane Sue... That is how I am with KCM workouts. I really just need to keep them out to remind me! Do you use a foundation? I love an Ester Lauder product that I have used for years. I blend it with moisturizer before I apply so it ends up being more of a tinted cream. They have discontinued it so I am going to Macys this weekend to see what they offer in its place. It takes me so long to find the right foundation. I like a very light base and that is why I mix with creams.

Valerie...that just amazes me about the bathrooms! I never knew! Even more reason for me to squat and never actually sit!!! I know what you mean about people feeding the animals and then something happens. Have heard a few stories about this.

Deb...SB's bouncing workouts are rather short. Most are 10 to 12 mins average with the longest 20 minutes. So to do several really is not crazy. Now if it were the power jumps then 1 is enough! I am going to try out the KCM youtube this weekend and plan to use dumbells. Will let you know!

Caitlyn...I have lost some weight too. Needed to lose a couple of pounds but it seems to be still coming off. I wear a size 6 and they seem to be getting loose. I know it is all the bouncing I have been doing. This week I am making a point to added in extra calories so I maintain. 95lbs is really tiny!

Hi to Judy!

Have a great night all!

Caitlin I don't know how tall you are but that sounds awfully small. I can't lose weight even hungry much of the time and working out every day. still stay just the same. WW is not doing much. if I do a 2 hour workout I am so hungry I need to eat something and then I don't lose anything but I am SO hungry. I weighed 95 in about 5th grade! be careful you don't get too thin. you will lose hard earned muscle too.

I had a rough day. we went on a hike this morning and I could not do much. we ended up walking about 3 hours but my hip was so sore. it seems like bursitis, which is better than needing joint replacement, but still not good. It all seems to go back to that one floor workout maybe 6 weeks ago. I can ride without discomfort so maybe mostly that for a while. I woke up this morning with a small chip out of a front tooth, or at least I noticed it while eating my oatmeal. an old patch fell apart and had to go in and get it re-patched. Once my tongue found it, it would not leave it alone. it also was catching on my lower lip so no question about getting it fixed. not unpleasant but it killed the rest of the day.

Lori I tend to "hover" over toilet seats and it's a good thigh workout. I can't imagine anyone with their feet on top of the seat still managing to hit the "target". yes, another reason not to actually sit. I get angry because when people feed animals recklessly like that, the animal can get more aggressive, eventually gets into trouble seeking food, and ends up being destroyed. it is really not a kindness to feed them. as they say, " a fed bear is a dead bear".
