Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 11/26

Good morning,

Yesterday I did Live "Love Those Legs"...wow, if you like lunges, this is the workout for you! Not a squat in the mix...which was very surprising to me for a leg workout. I couldn't record this as MFP is still working on my exercise input issue and asked me not to record any exercises yesterday. They said they were going to go into my account and try to duplicate what was happening. Funny, I signed on today and it said that I had done a Cardio Coach workout yesterday...which I hadn't.

Valerie, I went to purchase the hoody that was on sale, which they had in stock when I first looked at them, and it was gone...:(. I guess there was only on medium left. I guess I will wait for another sale.

Carolyn, that Peak Fit sounds interesting. I really like metabolic workouts and when I am working out, I try to get one metabolic total body in a week. Better get on the site quickly if you want to get one of those hoodies on sale. Hope your daughter does not take a medium.

Diane Sue, I hope you feel better today. Maybe a rest day from working out and a nap was what your body was telling you it needed. You can't go wrong with Bath & Body stuff, especially for a teen. Wow, 14 floors is great! I think my goal for a day is 10 floors.

Lori, sending good thoughts for little Nilla....I hope they can find out what is wrong and help her. Maybe she ate something that did not agree with her?

Hi Judy!

Agility class this morning....I am curious to see how many steps that gives me. :)

Take care,

Hi Everyone,

Wednesday I did a Spinerval, Thursday I did Walk Strong 3 Total Body & Barre Sculpt, and yesterday
I did WS3 Deep Stretch. That was so relaxing! It was kind of like Yoga Relax, but even more relaxing. I'm going to continue doing the WS3 workouts and spinning next week, then I will switch to something else. That will be my 3rd week of WS3 and I will have done all of the workouts in the series.
Yesterday was my birthday. Chris took the day off and we went to Birmingham for a winter market and tree lighting festival. It was very nice. The weather was warm enough to be comfortable, in the 40's, and it was sunny. We haven't had any snow so far but I'm sure we will see some soon.

Lori-I'm sending prayers for Nilla and for you ((hugs))

Deb-Great job with the live workouts! I'm going to have to do the new live spin workout next week. That is great that you are doing so well and not having reflux.

Diane Sue-I agree with what you said about staying mobile, trim and healthy as we age. Balance is very important and that is one of the reasons I'm doing more of Jessica Smith's workouts. She seems to focus a little more on balance and it is something that I want to work on and to improve. I do believe that we are healthier and more agile than younger women who do not workout. I recall women that I worked with 20 years ago that were my age, in their mid 30's and who were sedentary. They were already complaining of aches and pains and also were starting to have health issues related to lifestyle.

Carolyn-Great workouts! I am really enjoying WS3 so far.

Valerie-Those are very nice hoodies. I'll keep the link and maybe try to get one after the holidays.

Today I did WS3 1-Mile of Motivation and Total Body. I was pleasantly surprised by the Total Body Strength workout! The 1 mile cardio was 15 minutes and 115 calories. Average heart rate 136 and maximum heart rate 148. The Total Bodybwas 32 minutes, 194 calories, average heart rate 128 and maximum heart rate 156. I use 10, 12, and 15# weights. I will probably use 20# for goblet squats now that I have done the workout and am familiar with what she is doing. I used the 10# weights with the lunge into overhead press.

Judy, happy birthday. It sounds like you had a good day. I am also enjoying the WS3 workouts. Jessica has increased the intensity in these workouts while keeping them accessible to a variety of exercisers.

The Peak Fit set was 29.95 on Total Fitness DVDs during the Black Friday sale, but they are back to 49.95 now.

Hello to everyone and have a wonderful day.

Well...my little girl is bounce back Nilla once again. This morning she was so spry and hungry. She is really playing with our emotions. The doctor decided not to do blood work on her for her annual tests. She never leaves the house. It just stresses her so much. Last time she screamed so much and would not let them touch her they could not draw blood to do any tests. It was clear she was going to but up a fight again. They think she had a bug and also without testing they really think she has Alzheimer. By observing her odd behavior and what I have told them. This makes complete sense. So the plan is keep her in familiar routine as much as possible. The Dr mentioned when there are more bad days then good days then we need to make the decision. Bob and I discussed this...we do not want it to come to more bad days then good days. So we will monitor her closely. Its not fair to her. She is 17 1/2 and 6lbs. Just a tiny little thing.

I will check back later. My son wants to buy this car he loves but he does not know how to drive a standard. So he is bringing me to test drive it! Lol!

I did a premix from total body metabolic last night. I started to do TBM thru warmup and first few exercises, but was needed to shorten it. I did a new to me premix. muscle meltdown chest with the 5 superset exercises, but 4 repeats for 31 min. that fit the time I had, plus Icy core. I am switching slowly from mainly knee pushups to toe pushups using the bench with 2 risers. that was 48 push ups total with the 4 x, along with other chest work so it was a good one.

Lori it looks like this may be tough for Nilla and you. that is one little old doggie! sometimes the blood work gives you a clear answer, as it did with our kitty, but if it is a trauma by itself, then I think you're right to let it slide. with our kitty, it was clear what we had to do after the blood tests but sometimes blood work gives information but nothing can be done anyway.

Deb, sorry you missed out but especially this time of year, things go fast. I've gotten nice things on sale thru Patagonia. lots of times it's a color that didn't sell well. I love blue/ blue green colors so this was an easy choice. black, white, red, yellow I skip. many places don't put things on sale until only Xsmall or Xlarge are left. Patagonia is usually OK with size choices. I will try to post here if I get an email sale update.

Judy Happy Birthday!. glad you had a good day out.

Did Cycle Sweat spin for the full time 57 minutes. Judy I am in awe of you doing 90 minutes. I'd be dead before that time was up.

Lori, 17 1/2 years is a long time. I hope the vet can help little Nilla. I am sorry that she is sick. My granddaughter seems to have a love for Kendra Scott Jewelry. She has a lot of it on her Pinterest. The only problem is that every piece I find that is not around 100 dollars is out of stock and no longer available anywhere. Sometimes I have purchased Nike clothing or T shirts she has had on her Pinterest as she has a whole segment dedicated to Namaste and Nike. I guess I will find something. She is pretty particular on those things. I like the item to be special. She is such a special young lady with a big heart.

Deb, I be MFP helps you get the Fit Bit Problem fixed. I have had to go on a Google search before to find the help that I needed. Odd that it put a workout in that you did not do that day. I think having more rest days and less cardio has actually helped my sleep patterns even though I have had a lot of coughing spells at night. Most nights my Fit Bit has come up with 7 to 8 hours of sleep and rem and deep has been pretty good. It makes me wonder if it is because I feel somewhat run down or if it is because I am doing less cardio and intense activity. I guess it will be something to explore. I think that my Fit Fit Bit has the goal set at 10 floors.

Judy, that sounds like a fun way to spend your birthday. They are saying that we may get some snow flakes soon. I guess some cold weather is on the way. 70 tomorrow though.

Carolyn, that looks like a good workout. I keep seeing things for special prices and the price is soon back up. I ordered my husband a weight bench with curl attachment that was 229 dollars on a Cyber Monday Promo for 168. I had 63 dollars in Amazon gift cards that I used so it was a good price. I use the ibotta app when I shop and transfer my rebate funds to Amazon gift cards. :)

Lori, I am glad Nilla bounced back. I do not blame you for just monitoring for now. More bad days than good would be sad for her. My heart goes out to you.

Valerie, those 4 repeat muscle meltdown premixes are great.

Hello ladies,

Thank you all for your kind words about Nilla. I love her so much and she has been a huge part of my life for so long. This will be hard on me. :(

This afternoon I did WS3 Boogie IT. I did most of it on the trampoline with ankle weights and handweights to increase the intensity a bit. I followed up with a Bellicon squat and chair workout. Total times was 43 mins / 313 cal. This was all I could do. I was up at 4:15AM today ...ugh.

Judy...Happy Birthday!!!!! Sounds like you had a very nice day. So far I am I am really enjoying WS3 and glad I purchased this set. We had a couple of days that it has snowed already but did not accumulate to anything.

Valerie...the problem with Nilla is she is so tiny and spastic that they can not draw blood without hurting her. And I agree that sometimes blood samples tell you something but nothing can be done. At her age we all agree just to make sure she is comfortable and quality of life. Great workout today. I usually always use a platform for pushups and never go on my toes. So kudos to you for transitioning!!! Awesome!

Carolyn...what is your thoughts on the 1 mile motivation? I liked it but I liked some of her other 15m walks better. I too liked Total Body more than I thought I would. I used 20’s for the goblet squats but thinking I could go 25’s or even 30’s next time.

Diane Sue...Are you feeling better? Hoping yes. I wish you luck buying for your granddaughter. You mentioned Nike clothing. I am very much in to under armor right now. Funny even though I workout at home I like to have nice workout clothes. No one sees them but me...some how it motivates me. :) Great price on the weight bench.

Deb...I do not remember Love Those Legs and will check it out. Odd about your MFP. Hoping this is sorted out quickly.

Have a good night all!

Hi Everyone,

Lori-I'm glad that Nilla was feeling better this morning. I completely agree about not wanting her to have more bad days than good days. I know how hard that decision is. You have given Nilla a wonderful like and have taken such good care of her.

Valerie-I don't think I could do 90 minutes of Cycle Sweat, that one is really tough! Spinervals are great workouts, but most of them have more rest breaks than Cathe's spin workouts. They are just structured differently, so you aren't working so hard the entire time. I bet you could do a 90 minute Spinerval with no problem at all! I love those Muscle Meltdown premixes. I may do those when I finish with WS3.

Carolyn-Nice weights for WS Total Body. The heaviest I used was 12, but I will go higher the next time, now that I know what to expect.

Deb-I'm still having issues with MFP. I hope they fix whatever is going on with it.

Diane Sue-It was really nice again today, sunny and in the 50's. I think it will start to get cold next week and I'm sure we will see snow soon. I've been working on improving my sleep and I have gotten my deep sleep percentage to increase. It was at 4% last month and this month the average went up to 5%. That's not much, but I've had a few nights where it went up in the 10-12% range.
