Good morning,

No workout yesterday. I plan to do one today though.

Lori, welcome back! It is definitely colder here than Florida, but we have really lucked out without any major snow. How was your second Thanksgiving with your son?

Carolyn, I got the FitBit Charge 2. Yes, things can now get back to normal. I still have some things to put away...like all the chairs from the basement.

Diane Sue, Hope you feel better. Yes, I like the tracking on the FitBit. I am still getting used to how it works. though. It seems like sometimes it does not count a stair climb. I think you have to have your arms moving when you climb stairs. Send some of that weather to the northeast please! :).

Valerie, good workouts. Nice job on the push ups. We got the FitBits at Kohl's. They were reduced from $149.00 to $99.00...then then if you spent another dollar...you got $30.00 Kohl's Cash back. Now to make sure we go back and use the Kohl's Cash. before it expires...LOL...

A workout of some sort...( I am having a hard time deciding on a rotation, which makes me not do something)...

Hi to Judy,

Take care,

Good morning!

The day escaped me yesterday and I was not able to get back here.

I have done great with workouts this week plus walking in the moringing with my MIL. I ate more than usual but clothes still fit fine so think my workouts helped!

Deb...congrats on the fitbits! You will love them. I love keeping track of my steps and workouts. I do not keep track of my sleep. The apple watch has this feature, but I have yet to try it out. Such great news about your friend’s SIL. So nice. I find I do better with a rotation in mind.

Judy and Carolyn...I previewed the WS3 workouts and I think I will like this set. Yesterday I did Cardio Sculpt plus the 15 min 1 mile motivation. I used ankle weights for both plus went a little heavier with weights for the cardio sculpt and held 3lb weights for the walk. I love that you can up the intensity to meet your needs. Think I am going to start a rotation using these with some Barre and Bouncing. This should hold me ever until the new Cathe workouts come out.

Carolyn....yeah on your daughter loving the jumpsport!!!!! That is awesome!

Diane Sue....I have yet to do the Susan Harris workout. I wanted to do it while in Florida but did not realize I did not have it with me. Good to know it is still a good workout! Hope you are feeling better. My husband has a nasty cold and was in bed most of the day yesterday. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I do not get it. That KCM workout looked great.

Valerie...that is so hard when you have unexpected guests. All you plans go by the way side! Sounds like you had a great visit. I have a renewed appreciation for spinning. I hope it sticks. I may have mentioned my spin bike is the only piece of equipment I rarely used and right now I seem to be enjoying it again. Turkey soup sounds delicious. We had our Thanksgiving with my son yesterday and was nice. My husband didn’t get to enjoy it. Hoping today he is better and will be able to have some leftovers.

Planning to put up the christmas tree later today. My workout will be a bounce workout. I have not bounced in over a week!!

Have a great day all!

Realizing I like repeating the same thing several times. I get my heart rate up spinning more than any other activity. I like supersets in general, and really like the Muscle meltdowns tacked onto a cardio session. I want to work up to closer to a full hour cardio, then add weights. I like doing a group of exercises using the same weight so I don't have 8 sets of dumbbells rolling around. supersets do that nicely. I used 10's for biceps, but think I can go to 12's next time.

Lori bummer on DH getting a bad cold. unless you were very cautious, you are probably up next. Travel always used to kill me that way, so many contaminated surfaces and close contact made head colds almost a sure thing. You must be in Bounce Withdrawal.
same for you, diane sue. Hope you are on the upswing now. settles in my head and throat not my chest but I take serious down time. I have gone a long stretch without one and want to keep it going.

The fitbit charge is the one cousin got thru Costco. so funny, he always has a monitor but he doesn't exercise. was proud of negotiating a good deal for the next year at the gym but then he and his wife barely use it. Crazy!. why pay all that money, spend on monitors, and then not exercise? trying to get them interested in spinning. I keep explaining how weights work best when you have a 'script" to follow. Left to my own, I would not put together a good flow of moves. stick in a DVD or a worksheet, and follow along. Not sure how that would work at a gym, but even a paper printout would be useful. I use both dvd and worksheet.

Costco is backordered on Charge right now. unfortunately if it won't register cycling or stair climbing, it won't work for me. I have the two Polar systems with chest straps and even with a chest strap, they aren't perfect. spin bike is the least likely to pick up signals properly. I wear the wrist watch, and the bike computer always lags behind and goes off quickly. I get very under reported calorie burn etc. mostly I use to monitor heart rate. the polar wrist watch picks up first, then the bike computer catches on but lags behind, usually matches for a section, but as soon as I slow down the bike stops registering anything.

ETA did 35 on the elliptical at level 10, then icy core 2, and 50 knee pushups. planned on a day off, but it was a wet rainy day and I didn't do a lot, so did a workout later anyway. the elliptical said that was 365 calories burned which seems on the high side to me.

Today is my rest day. I am also trying to get back to clean eating after the holiday. I am cooking very simple foods for the next few weeks.

Deb, I know you will love the Fitbit Charge 2. It is easy to use and understand. If I don’t have a rotation planned I will have trouble getting started with a workout. When I have a plan it’s easier for me to keep going.

Valerie, I think the Charge 2 will work for stair climbing if you add the activity to your list (you can add your own frequent activities up to 7). You are right that you can’t get detailed cycling data from it but you can get heart rate and calories burned. The new Fitbit Ionic does provide cycling and running data from what I have read. Maybe your cousin just wants steps and heart rate data. Hopefully they will find something that they like to do.

Lori, I agree you must have rebounding withdrawal!

Hi to Diane Sue and Judy.

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday was a rest day and today I did WS3 Yoga Strength and Stretch and Streamline Sculpt. I'm planning on starting a new rotation tomorrow, mixing WS3 with Spinervals. I'm planning on doing that until the new Cathe & KCM workouts arrive.

Deb-I hope you like your Fitbit Charge 2. $99 is a good deal for it. I always have a hard time deciding on rotations.

Lori-I've been using the 3 lbs weights for the WS3 walks but I haven't used ankle weights yet. I should do that this week. I'm very happy with this series so far.

Valerie-Spinning get my heart rate up the highest too.

Hi to Carolyn & Diane Sue!

No workout today. We had a family birthday today. I am still dragging through this head cold and coughed so hard last night that my head hurt and my mid section. Odd though that there is no fever. My husband, son, and grandsons got a good start on our remodel upstairs. They are turning a large portion of our loft room into a 3rd bedroom with a long closet for more storage :)

Deb, I don't know about stair climbs. My Fitbit just counts how many floors I do. Every time I go upstairs and come back down I get a floor.

Lori, good for you for being able to get the workouts in and have your clothes still fit. I have eaten more junk, but not so much food. I have kept so busy I will miss meals here and there. My daughter and I took two of my younger grandchildren to the playground at a nature center yesterday. I had worked out and only ate a slice of bread on the way out the door. It was 3 in the afternoon before we got back and I ate something more substantial. Finally getting the Thanksgiving leftovers out of the house other than turkey.

Valerie, the Fit Bit Blaze seems to give me calorie burns according to heart rate and it gives me some step whey I use the spinning setting. I am not sure how such a device could get all of the data though. I do find it interesting that it can figure out when you are climbing stairs as opposed to just walking. It doesn't figure a step workout in as climbing stairs.

Carolyn, I have no exact plan right now, as I have been through the Kelly workouts. I am just still enjoying them. I am wanting to get my clean eating back.

Judy, I think the best I have done with calorie burns and spinning was the extended Pedal Power premix. A lot depends on how hard I have the tension and how much standing instead of seated spinning that I do.

Good morning,

Yesterday I did KCM Cardio Pump, workout #2 ( the pyramid weight one). 32 minutes, 154 calories. I had my FitBit on and it recorded a ton of steps from this workout. I thought that was strange since you really don't move around that much. I wonder if it is counting all those "run arms" moves that she does in this one as "steps"?

Lori, nice that you kept up with the workouts while away. That can be tough sometimes. I remember one tough thing in the Susan Harris workout were those fire hydrants! :). I hope you are able to evade that cold of your husbands.

Valerie, yes, Muscle Meltdowns tacked on to a cardio workout is a great way to do a "one part per day" rotation. I don't know why the FitBit would not register stair climbing, especially if you are moving your arms back and forth.

Carolyn, I hear you on the clean eating! I need to stop eating all the stuff I am...I have really slipped up. What types of simple foods are you planning on eating?

Judy, that sounds like a good rotation plan until the new DVD's arrive. I am really looking forward to the new Cathe series.

Diane Sue, that remodel sounds great. Whose bedroom will it be? I think stair climbing is the same as floors. I did 14 yesterday. We were working on cleaning a section of our attic, so I was going up and down a lot.

A workout, then going to a mass for my aunt today. It would have been her birthday today...

Take care,

It's been a week since my eye exam. going back today for contact lenses. this was a trial using just the one lens much of the time. it works for me. a form of monovision. I use one lens for distance, no lens in the other eye so I can see both near and far. works fine for indoor exercise. I was taking lenses in and out too much when at home. I will still wear two lenses for outdoor sports and driving although I could skip it if necessary. I will probably get a pair of cheap back up glasses in case. the ones I have at 20 yo. way too strong.

I did not slip up on eating much. had a small piece of pie, extra wine on turkey day. of course, some of the roasted nut mix. I gain so easily I don't every give myself a free pass even on holidays. I have not weighed in a while but clothes fit the same so not losing. no surprise. I have reached a plateau and am increasing my exercise. the problem is November dismal weather sets in, we stop doing most longer rides and hikes. too cold, wet and sloppy. even increasing home workouts does not end up being more overall. just one 3 hour bike ride is hard to duplicate at home. it warmed up and most snow melted to frozen glop so no skiing until it gets colder and fresh snow arrives.
that's one reason I'm considering a Fitbit or similar device.... keep track of regular steps to make sure I'm not going into hibernation!

Today I did Peak Fit Pure Cardio. It was 52 minutes with 404 calories burned. Average heart rate was 136 and maximum heart rate 157. I got 4890 steps during the workout. I modified some high impact moves, but it was still a great workout.

Deb, I have noticed that the Fitbit will not count a stair climb and I think it has to do with my arm not swinging if I have something in my arms. This also happens when pushing a shopping cart which I think I have mentioned previously. I push my cart with one hand because I hate to miss all of those steps walking from through the grocery store. As far as simple foods, I meant things like grilled or broiled chicken or salmon instead of some recipe with more ingredients and the same with vegetables.

Our fire alarm went off this morning around 6:00 and really frightened us. We checked all levels of the house to make sure there was no smoke or fire anywhere, but we couldn’t get the alarm to stop. The alarm company called to check. I had to call back and get directions for turning the system off to get it to stop screeching. A technician came out mid morning and replaced some parts to get it working right again. My heart was really pounding when this happened and my husband was late for work as we tried to get it to stop. Too much excitement at the beginning of the day!

Judy, I like your workout plan. I am planning to mix in some of the Walk Strong 3 with the Peak Fit workouts for the next two weeks.

Hello to everyone and have a wonderful day.

Valerie, I was very hesitant to give up my Polar FT 60 monitor when I first got the Fitbit, but I am glad that I made the switch. The app has an easy to understand interface for all your data.

Carolyn the same thing happened with our alarm system last week. I wasn’t home at the time. DH replaced the battery in the sensor and it has been ok since. It was the fire alarm but DH was able to silence it. Wow that is an unsettling experience. !! Incredibly loud. We are considering a system upgrade. ours works thru our landline. we’ve had it about 12 years. Not decided yet.

I did the first part of low impact and then muscle meltdown back. I used Cathe weight level tho I think I can go heavier. Still, with tThree repeats I played it cautious and will see if get sore. Enjoying the muscle meltdowns.!

Good evening ladies,

Yesterday I did BBS Trampoline Cardio then a Jessica Smith 15 min fast fat burn I think it is called. Did this on the trampoline. 72 mins total time. This morning was 2 SB’s trampoline bounces..both were quad focused and boy was I feeling it. The first one I did my legs were shaking like crazy. Loved it. Tonight I did a BBS Dance Bounce followed up with Jessica’s 10min Dance walk from her Quick 10m dvd. I also did this on the trampoline. It was fun. Total time was 66 mins. Well I certainly got my bouncing made up from this past week!

I am starting Jessica’s new dvd rotation but the first workout is the foundation workout which is very slow and controlled movements. Do not see myself doing this. This is the only time it shows up in the 8 weeks so thinking I could pass on it.

Valerie...wow great workout on the eliptical. When I spin my HR can get up there. Amazing the calories you burn while spinning. When I went to bed last night my husband was hugging my pillow. I changed the pillow case and sprayed the pillow with lysol before I put the fresh case on. Then it stunk like lysol so I sprayed some lavender oil on it. :). My husband was cracking up. Hey you can never be to safe!!! Fingers are still crossed I miss it. I stopped wearing contacts about 5 years ago. Good for you wearing only one works for you. Someone I work with does this.

Carolyn...My husband and I are back to clean eating. We ate way too much stuff this past week. I do not weigh myself and go by how I feel. I like this better for me. Been doing this now for about 10 months. When I would weigh myself it would set my mood for the day. Now I do not worry about a pound or two. If my clothes fit great then I am ok with this. Great job on the Peak workout. Those are not easy! Very scary about your alarm. This would scare me to pieces. Not an enjoyable way to wake.

Judy...I use 1.5 ankle weights most of the time not stress my knees. My MIL had 2.5lbs and I liked this weight and may get these for Jessica’s workouts. I pretty much always use 3lb hand weights. I am actually looking forward to this rotation.

Diane Sue...I thought sure by the end of the week I would be all bloated. So glad this was not the case. :). Love your family birthdays. Nice with the 3rd bedroom and extra storage. Win win here!

Deb..Lol! I am picturing the fire hydrants! I remember them killing me. When I had a fitbit I swear it recorded my arm movements. Very nice there is a service for your Aunt.

Have a great night all!

Today I did Ripped With Hiit Legs, 49 minutes, 292 calories, heart rate 119 average, 150 max. Maybe some cardio tomorrow, I have no definite plan this week. I sort of wanted to do Strength and Stamina , but I had grandchildren and the dog and thought the kettlebell swings might not be a good idea.
Weights today
squats 20# dbs 24 reps
plie squats 45# db 16 reps
static lunge right side 25# dbs 16 reps
squats 25# dbs
plie squats 45# db 16 reps
wood chop side lunge chops 10# db 24/24 reps
explosive side lunge 12# db
cross back lunges 15# dbs
low pulse lunges 20# dbs
Dead lift 30# dbs 16 reps
dead lift wide stance 30# dbs 16 reps
walking lunges 15# dbs 6 passes
My daughters and husband are now coming down with this cold. I still think I got it from their children who seem better now. I don't go much of anywhere other than stores and am careful about my hands being sanitized and everything.

Deb, the step count seems like it would be off. I had similar calorie burn at 159 but my step count for workout 2 was 364 steps. Workout 1 which was the cardio one was 2,778. Did you set the stride length on your Fit bit app ? We have talked about putting this room in from the start. This can be the guest room for whoever spends the night without me giving up my workout room. We have a lazy boy leather sofa bed in the living room, but it does not provide privacy. We want to get at least a full size bed to put in the guest room eventually. We couldn't get any larger sofa sleeper up there than the twin that we have. The closet will give me a lot of much needed storage space as well. I have my upstairs mini coat closet stacked with totes of scrapbook, craft, sewing, and yarn stuff. I have no where else to put it. That is the only real coat closet because they made the downstairs one by the front door into the spot for the hot water heater. I could use a place for all of my art supplies as well. I keep them in totes beside my art desk and some in the top of my workout room closet. It makes it a bit of a job when I want to do a project. It will all come together some day :)

Valerie, my eye doctor had me get some reading glasses. I try not to wear them unless it is a book with tiny print. I feel like I lose my focus without them if I wear them every time I read. I would rather keep my eyes somewhat trained to be able to read without too much extra help. I still have one piece of homemade pecan pie in the freezer. I have been indulging, but not everyday. Too busy to sit around and snack all day lately. Those Muscle Meltdowns were what drew me to Ice to begin with. They are a nice way to get in a decent weight workout.

Carolyn, those alarms are so loud that they feel like they shake the nerves. That would be a bad way to start the day. I think I usually walk so fast when I am shopping that I have not noticed the step count being lower. I felt the same way about the FT60. I was never totally sold on the HR7 bluetooth. It was always going bonkers. The Fit Bit has so many usable extras.

Lori, it appears you got quite a lot of intense bouncing in :) The nice thing with the room is we still have a small loft area that will have a recliner and corner for sitting and reading etc. at the top of the stairs. I never weigh myself on the holidays or after a vacation. I wait awhile. Besides that most of the time you are weighing water weight and the extra pounds of food. It takes several days to get that weight back down. Generally the clothes are not tight and I do not spend a lot of time worrying about it. I think that the one part of the Firm workout that was hardest was the part on the floor where she turned almost prone doing those leg lefts with the ankle weights. I think the 5# I wore was probably too heavy because I felt it in my low back the next morning. I was worried about this. I used to use 5# and sometimes hold a dumbbell on my thigh years ago. I am not inclined to try that now. Age makes a difference I guess.

Good morning,

Yesterday I did a Walk Fit treadmill workout and right after, the JS Walk Abs free workout from her site. I used the calorie burn from my Polar HRM. The FitBit was way off....also off on the mileage....I trust the mileage from my treadmill more. I am kind of disappointed in the measurements of the FitBit.....especially the steps. Like Carolyn mentioned, if you don't use your arms...( and sometimes I am carrying stuff up and down stairs etc)...it doesn't measure steps. I tested it by standing still and moving my arms as if running/walking...and added 11 steps without going anywhere.

Valerie, my friend does something similar to what you do with contacts, only she wears one for near and one for far vision. Make sure you think about what you will be using the FitBit for....and how your arms will move during that exercise...Are you enjoying the Muscle Meltdowns?

Carolyn, that was pretty scary about the fire alarm! I didn;t even think about pushing something like a cart. There would be so many steps missed in a grocery store!

Lori, lots of bouncing for you the other day! :). Oh no! Lysol smell will take a while to get out of the pillow....I love lavender...I put a dot of lavender oil on acupressure wrist bands at night and I think it helps me sleep. Good job on getting back to clean eating....I need an intervention!

Diane Sue, I did not know there was a stride length setting on the FitBit....will go over to the app and check it out...I still think its the arm movement and not the legs that count as steps....if you adjust your stride length with the app, it will probably still count "steps" if you are marching in place as long as you are swinging your arms. ..the plan for the extra bedroom sounds good. Yes, that other move in The Firm workout was a killer....and there is Susan Harris, fixing her hair or something like that while doing it. LOL.

A workout, and then class at noon with Kylee....

Take care,

I got pretty sore from the workout yesterday. I didn’t even do the second part of the cardio where she uses the step. I stepped down awkwardly once and my rt ankle didn’t like it. Felt like it could be a problem but it’s fine today. I’m getting “respect” for supersets! I think I did deadlifts properly for the first time. usually only my back felt it, but this time it is the entire back side from shoulders to knees. not sure what I've done incorrectly all these years, but something changed yesterday. I have a large ROM and easily lower the 20's to top of my feet. this time I activated all the muscles I'm supposed to and wow, I feel it today.
not sure what to do today, but I think some plain cardio like a spin or elliptical.

Deb it was making me crazy not being able to see small print when cooking, and still see the distant TV. monovision works well for me. have not decided for sure if a fitbit would be useful for me. if spinning, mt biking, and road biking don't "count" not sure it will be helpful. I stew about this every year and go back to the Polar set up.

Today I did Michelle Dozois’ Peak Fit Pure Strength 1. This was a fast moving total body workout with very little rest between sets. She uses the Peak Fit band that comes with the program for many of the exercises. This is the tightest band that I have ever used! I switched to my green Cathe band for several exercises because I couldn’t pull the band and keep good form. My total time was 54 minutes with 221 calories burned. Average heart rate was 107 and maximum heart rate 144. After that I did three segments of a JumpSport dvd for 17 minutes, 140 calories, average heart rate 118 and maximum heart rate 140. I finished up with Jessica Smith’s Total Stretch from disc 6, 15 Minute Fixes.

Deb, the Fitbit works with both arm and leg movements to record steps. I have done the same with arm movements to see if it counted them as steps. As Diane Sue mentioned, you can adjust your stride length in your settings. I calculated stride length when I had my Omron pedometer but not with the Fitbit. I wore both devices for a while and compared the steps counted with each. They were fairly consistent. I also continued to use my Polar with the Fitbit for a while. Did I mention that I was suspicious of Fitbit data at first :). Now I am comfortable with the data that I get, recognizing that no device is 100% accurate.

Hello to everyone and have a great day.

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I did a 90 minute Spinerval. It felt good to get back to spinning. Last night Chris wanted to go to the gym so I went with him and did a short back and tricep workout. For back I did seated rows and lat pull downs. For triceps I did press downs with a cable machine. Today I did WS3 Metabolic Conditioning, Total Body Training and Add On Abs. The Total Body Training and Add on Abs are 15 minute workouts.

Deb-I'm really looking forward to the new Cathe workouts too! The thing I like the most about my fitbit is the sleep analysis. I do look at the steps but I don't pay that much attention to them. It does read arm movements, as I found out when we were painting last year.

Diane Sue-Great job with Ripped with HiiT! Nice weights!

Lori- I agree about Foundations. I tried doing that the first day I did WS3 and wasn't able to get past 5 minutes. I did end up doing a few days later. It's very slow and controlled, like you said. I don't think I will be doing this one often. All of the other workouts have been great so far.

Valerie-I really like the muscle meltdowns too. That is my favorite part of ICE. I like the premixes that have 4 rounds.

Carolyn-I should calculate my stride length for my fitbit. The Peak Fit workouts sound good. I'll have to look at those.

Good evening ladies,

This morning was WS3 Metabolic Conditioning. This was my only workout. Was tired when I cam home tonight.

Judy and Carolyn...I really liked this workout and felt worked but not exhausted. My light weights were 8lbs and my heavy ranged from 10, 12 or 15 depending on what the exercise was. I am looking forward to Bare Foot Cardio tomorrow. Will wear ankle weights plus while holding the ball I am going to wear my 1lb hand wraps. Thinking this will be another great workout.

Judy...nice workouts!

Carolyn...omg yes that band is ridiculous! I tried using it once when I first got this set and quickly switched to my other bands. Funny you should mentioned this as I just came across this band over the weekend and was surprised I kept it. You are really making me want to do a Peak Fit workout!

Diane Sue...I hear you about aging...I feel I have completely changed my workouts the past few years. Once I discovered Barre I realized I did not need to kill myself to get results. I used to use 5lb ankle weights but switched to lighter a while ago and you know what? I still love the results.

Deb...I should spray lavendar oil on my pillow every night. I slept great! That makes no sense to me Fitbit needs your arms to track steps? Oh but Susan Harris had beautiful hair!!!

Valerie...the older I get the easier it is for me to read tiny print. Reason I stopped wearing my contacts is I could not read with them on. I used to wear glasses to read when I took my contacts off. Now I pretty much only wear glasses to drive. Funny how this is for me. Usually it is the opposite.

Have a great night all!

Today I did Ice Boot Camp Circuit, 49 minutes, 283 calories, 2,196 steps. We went shopping and to the library. I got my car back today :D They put a whole new security module in it and tested it out for awhile. We had the loaner for 20 days and they had my car for near 5 weeks this time. I was starting to wonder if I was going to hear anything at all. I think it will be a fairly busy holiday season. I need to alter the sleeve length on my grandson's suit jacket for his winter ball at school. Music programs etc.. Lots to do. I am just taking it easy on the workouts right now. Friday I am helping our church's school Friday with their Christmas present wrapping and labeling from their holiday store. I need to be there by 8:30 so do not plan on doing a workout. Hopefully I am not coughing as much bu then. I was probably scaring people in the library today with all of the coughing and sneezing. It comes in a huge blast and then nothing. I was fine in Sprouts afterward.

Deb, I just thought you might find the stride length helpful. I don't get near the steps many people seem to with the same Fit Bit and types of workouts. I even try marching around when doing upper body things like overhead extensions and biceps curls. I don't think jumping workouts count for many steps for me. You will become accustomed to your own stats with the Fit Bit after awhile and be able to see where and how you can improve things. I think that is the main idea behind the devices anyway.

Valerie, I try to concentrate more on the thighs when lowering and raising with the weights for dead lifts. I read that somewhere before. I don't want to find myself feeling it all in my low back. I bring it down low too. I really never understood quite why someone would want to stand on a platform though. When Cathe does that I don't see anyone going any lower. It seems a bit risky to me.

Carolyn, great workout choices today. It's funny because at first I did not like my stats with the Fit Bit , but now that I am used to them I don't really want to go back to wearing the straps and I like the other tracking stuff on it.

Judy, I also have found that I get steps on abs, even when they are on the floor. I pay more attention to the sleep analysis too. I don't worry so much about the steps. I write them down, but know I am pretty active anyway. My husband thinks I am a bit obsessed with the sleep stats. I find them helpful. I find ways to help me get better sleep and it has improved. When I painted my workout room I got quite a few extra steps.

Lori, I never thought that I would find myself lowering weights or changing the way I workout, but it just seemed to happen. I think after a lot of injuries and strains we learn our lesson over that time. I think we are all more active and agile than most women that are younger and do not work out at all. I just want to stay mobile, trim, and healthy so I can still do things for myself. Things like balance become more important as years pass as well.

Lori you sound like me with vision. I always could see close, but needed correction for distance. as I get older, I could not adjust to see close when I had lenses in for the distance correction. our eyes get less flexible as we age. My correction is not large, and correction has lessened over the last few years, so I do OK with no lens on one eye, and a mild distance correction on the other. it's a sort of monovision. I spend a lot of time with no lenses at all these days, but not for sports or driving. apparently it can go either way and I am fortunate it is going in the direction of needing less. so basically we are in the same place. I WAY prefer a contact lens to glasses. I ordered a new pair of glasses anyway, as back up in case of disaster. old ones were 20 yo and never worn more than half an hour total.
I did a spin today, only 31 minutes. my butt was sore!. not "injury" sore, but sore muscles from dead lifts.
Diane Sue I agree on the platform business. Makes no sense to me to elevate off the floor. I usually do it if cathe is doing it, but the reasons not clear to me. I thought maybe if you were using a barbell and the weights were large? at any rate, I activated the hams and glutes during deadlifts for the first time, but will be uncomfortable for a few days yet.
Judy, how you can spin for 90 min is something I will not understand. Wow. that is a long time. Outdoors is Ok for me, but not indoors.
