Good morning,

No workout yesterday. Hopefully today, and hope that my shoulder does not "feel" it.

Lori, how was lunch with your son?

Diane Sue, I think the January rotation that Cathe put out is probably the first one that would be in the User's Guide. Just a guess though. I guess I still don't "get" why a PDF file that you can download would have anything to do with the On Demand service, but hey, I am not a tech. :)

Valerie, good to take a day off once in a while!

Carolyn, that site sounds interesting, and you can't beat the price for a year! Yes, it's crazy football stuff around here too, since this is the first time the Bills have been in the playoffs after 17 years!

Judy, good job on the JS workouts, You are really getting some good use of that series. We can only hope that this weather is over soon!

A workout, and errands today.

Take care,

Good morning ladies,

My apple watch says -9. Gigi does not want to stay out more than she has too. Brrrrrrr. Yesterday I did the Live Triple Threat followed up with a LEKFit bounce. I loved the live workout. I agree with Deb on the impact and I did modify some of the moves. Next time I may try out the impact on my rebounder for fun. Lots of jumping in this one but it is over in 15 mins then she moves on to legs then arms. About 15 mins on each and like Deb I really liked these quick weight sections and felt worked when done. Just when I am thinking about cancelling she creates a workout that will be a favorite of mine!!! Not sure what the workout will be today. I have been plugging along still with JS WS3 rotation which I am enjoying. Just not doing the true rotation. I have the sheets printed out and check off the workout when I get to it in between all the other workouts I want to do. Ohhh so many!

Lunch was fantastic! Good food and lots of laughs my sons GF came too. :)

Deb...Cathe puts links in the guide so when you click on the workout or the premix listed it will automatically bring you to the workout on the “On Demand” app. Of course if you do not have the on demand app or print the guide the links do would not work. Even still the guide is usually out soon after dvds ship. Could be due to the holidays and timing. I am looking forward to it.

Diane Sue....I downloaded Amy’s kickboxing rebounding workout. It looks like it will be fun. Perhaps I will try this one today and will report back!

Carolyn...my husband was glued to the tv watching football. One of the reasons my son and I went for lunch. Don’t even think my husband noticed we were gone. Lol!

Judy...I am planning after my workout today to do a deep stretch.LEKFit has a couple new stretches that are less than 20 mins. You reminded me of them when I read your post. I do not usually do extended stretches so we will see how this goes.

Hi to Valerie!!!

Stay warm all!!

Good Morning,
I did two short yoga workouts this morning for a total of 44 minutes. I didn’t care for the first one very much which was from a Nadia Narian Flow Yoga for Strength and Flexibility dvd. It didn’t give me what I needed for a good stretch. There was nothing wrong with it, but I probably should have selected session two instead. I did Element Yoga for Flexibility with Alanna Zabel which was more my style.

Deb, I like gethealthyutv for the variety of offerings and I definitely couldn’t beat the price. I decided to subscribe to see what it was like and I am glad that I did.

Lori, football mania can be tiring for me. I don’t blame you for going out to lunch. My husband went out to watch the later game with friends which gave me the opportunity to do something else. LEKfit sounds like a good subscription for you. When I previewed Cathe’s triple threat it seemed to have some of the moves from Fit Split.

Judy, Walk Strong 3 has been a surprising addition to my workouts. Jessica has so many good 30 minute options in the series.

Hello to Diane Sue and Valerie.

No workout today. Itvis a family birthday and gathering at my youngest daughters today. I made the cake yesterday and some comecakes that I decorated. I usually have to mix up two batches ofvcake batter and bake them separately. Our family has grown so much and continues with additions of boy friends and a soon to be husband for my oldest granddaughter.
I cleaned up the mess from the walls in the mew closets and will painting them this next week. Soon we will be able to store some things in it.

Deb, i hope your d houlder is okay and you can get a workout. The download for the user guide does not make sense to me either. I gathered whatever they use for that is also being used for the on demand service that takes lots of hours of work. Those that have on demand want what they pay for right away which is is inderstandable, so everyone including them has to wait for the user guide.

Lori, I cant wait to hear your thoughts on the new Amy workout. I was happy to see one without the kettle bell for when I am just wanting cardio.

Carolyn, I keep trying to get back to more yoga being fit in to my workouts. I do add a few extra stretches sometimes after workouts or during the day, but it is notbthe same. I wanted to yesterday, butvhad so much to do that I quit once the cardio was done.

Good afternoon all!

Today ended up being Amy Bento’s newest rebounding workout plus a Bellicon bounce followed up with a LEKFit stretch. I used no weights at all today. Needed a break since I was still feeling Cathe’s Live workout from yesterday.

Diane Sue...I liked Amy’s new rebounding workout and will do it again. I thought it was quick and very fast paced.

Carolyn...I am enjoying LEKFit. At first I wasn’t sure but I have been able to make it work for me. Yes there were a few FitSplit moves in the recent Live workout.

It has gone up to 13 degrees here!! Heat wave!!!!!

Not exactly balmy! I don't envy you... we are 40 and raining so not too nice here either. haven't been able to ride much.

I did Low Impact Sweat, both cardio sections, and MM back. Some parts aren't hard but the moves on the step are not easy for me. for the second cardio section, I slowed it to 80% speed. very helpful for learning admittedly very simple moves for most. I know this is not complicated stepping but call me "Trigger". I think if I do it a few more times I will get it well enough to up the speed.

I think I am going to do the January rotation starting with the day after the rest day on the schedule which would mean Fit Split Low Impact and metabolic conditioning tomorrow. On the double cardio day I will add another cardio to the one mentioned to be doubled. It has been lightly raining here today.

Lori, that is great that you liked the Amy Kickbox and Rebounding workout. I will put that in one of the shorter days this week.

Valerie, raining here too today. It is kind of dreary out.

It's snowing again here..we have a winter weather advisory through tomorrow morning. At least it's getting a little warmer.

Good morning,

Yesterday I did Fit Split Low Impact Cardio & Metabolic Conditioning. 51 minutes, 284 calories. This one tweaked my lower back....all that up and down stuff I guess, and I don't even go all the way to the floor. :(. I liked the weight part though.

Lori, I don;t blame Gigi for now wanting to stay out there. Ours are the same, Keegan goes about a foot from the door then runs back in. I know what you mean about Cathe creating a really good Live, just when you think of cancelling. I still want to try Pump Party. Thanks for the explanation on why the User's Guide had to be delayed....makes sense now. However, this was a lot longer than previous ones. Maybe they changed/added a feature. Hope you get higher temps this week. We are supposed to hit (maybe!) 30 degrees!

Carolyn, it seems like all the yoga workouts are so different, it takes a while to find one that works for everyone's different requirements. I am like you with football mania....it's over here, the Bills lost yesterday...so that is it until next season.

Diane Sue, your family is sure growing! It's great that you all celebrate birthdays etc and have family days. That is exactly what I did on the January rotation...started so that my rest day is Saturday.

Valerie, good job on sticking with that step portion....doing at 80% is a great idea to learn the moves.

Judy, Yay for warmer temps....but "ugh" on the snow.

A workout, then Puppy class this morning, it feels like I have not been there for months!

Take care,

I forgot to say ...did the whole workout with 2 risers, like cathe. paused between exercises to plan the next move. When I am getting winded is when I get confused on step moves. 80% gives a little cushion, plus Im pausing between moves so I can get my brain around what my feet will do. I feel like I won a long time mental battle with step moves yesterday.:) :p Also there is no spinning or turning around... that always confuses me.
In good/bad news DH got his labs back from his physical. lipid levels are too high. he is joining me on a diet. It will be easier to stay on track if he is watching intake and not asking for rich things.

DH also seems to be into football. the Seahawks got knocked out of the running last week so he's watching "whoever" is on TV. .
He humored me and we watched the golden globes last night. I enjoy it more than the oscars. Very heavy on #me too . more pronounced due to nature of the entertainment industry. Good to see so many women sticking together and not backstabbing. Oprah was terrific as usual. and suddenly there is talk of her running for president.
Our kitty used to make his outdoor time brief when it was cold or snowing. just a fast dash out and back. he'd even walk back in his own footprints so there was only one line and his paws didn't get wet! if there was a dry route, he'd find it.

This morning was my first Fit Split workout. I did Boxing Bootcamp Legs and Glutes. My time was 1 hour 2 minutes with 361 calories burned. My average heart rate was 119 and maximum heart rate 165. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about the workout after reading so many opinions, but I liked it. It is more difficult for me to do strength training after cardio and it was true for this workout today. Fortunately the cardio segment is not too long.

Diane Sue, I am glad that the Fit Split rotation has days where the cardio and strength are on separate days. I will also use a different cardio if I want to add on.

Valerie, great job with Low Impact Sweat. There’s nothing wrong with taking time to learn a routine when you aren’t comfortable with it. In my opinion it doesn’t matter if the the step moves are simple or complex, if you modify or not, just enjoy your workout.

Deb, I think the delay with the user guide is due in part to the many upgrades and additions to the Cathe website. The user guide has to work with all those wonderful upgrades. I hope it’s ready by the end of the day. I have come to really enjoy yoga and I feel the difference in my flexibility when I don’t do it.

Lori, I looked at that Amy Bento rebounding workout too. It looks like fun. I have been using my JumpSport for additional activity during the day, but I don’t usually count it as a workout. That has helped me become more comfortable on it.

Judy, hopefully you will get a break from the weather this week.

Have a great day everyone.

I finished Fit Split Low Impact/Metabolic conditioning, 50 minutes, 329 calories, heart rate 124 average, max 165, 2,229 steps.

Deb, I am sorry all of those down up moves bothered your back. I was a bit more slower and careful with these moves today. I tend to hit things aggressively to try and get the heart rate up. It seems the core would be hit well with this set of workouts with all of the plank work in it. Those moves are ones that are kind of hard to modify when you are walking in and out etc.. My biggest dread is standing up and going back down to the floor repeatedly. I always like to arrange the workouts so my day off is Sunday since I do not want to get up extra early to get the workouts in on that day.

Valerie, I am sure it will make your staying on track with eating easier, but too bad for your husband. I find I have to have snacks for my husband most of the time. I bake for him and visiting family which sometimes throws my eating off because I eat some too. My dog Gertie goes to the edge of the grass when it is cold and/or wet and heads straight back to the door step. When I started step I was not comfortable with it and lost footing a lot. Over time it becomes easy.

Carolyn, I prefer cardio before strength myself. Everything is warmed up well. Besides if I leave cardio till after the weights I am not really wanting to do it that much. On the weights only days I will probably still add some cardio, just not Fit Split cardio. I do like the Bootcamp boxing workout and legs. That is why I chose that for my cardio again on Saturday.

Diane Sue, I should have said that some cardio workouts make the strength training harder. Cathe moves very quickly in some of her workouts and that leaves me wiped out by the end. I can do 4 Day Split without a problem but it does not have the same fast pace.

Valerie, does your husband eat vegetarian as well? It is helpful when both people are trying to follow a health eating style. I still have to plan occasional desserts for my husband, but it’s usually something with fruit. Holidays and birthdays are the exception.

Carolyn, I just read ( and think I saw it on one of the DVD's) that all the Fit Split workouts have premixes that have the weight work first..

I went to the store for a few things today and ordered the latest Whole 30 cookbook, Fast and Easy Cookbook. Usually I just buy the downloads, but it is only 1 dollar difference for the actual book and I can share it. I checked on the Kindle books and I can loan to my daughter in law , but she can only have it for 14 days and I cannot use the books while she has them. That really makes me irritated since I bought the books. Also I cannot loan it more than once. Since she is doing whole 30 to see if it helps her arthritis and pain I would like to be able to let her use them. She has been going through tests at the doctor for different types of arthritis.

Deb, you are right, there is a premix for each workout with weights first. :)

Carolyn, yes, when I do an intense, lots of jumping cardio first my legs are pretty fatigued before I pick up the weights. 4 Day Split cardio is done at a pretty nice pace for each weight workout that goes with the cardio segments. I rarely do the Bootcamp cardio on 4 Day Split. I have never liked drills where you are running back and forth and around the room. I don't like running around the step in the step workouts either. I am usually hopping over Gertie in the process of running around it. She will generally choose a spot where she thinks she is out of the way.

Weird, I thought I lost my post and when I hit edit it popped back up!

Yes it will be a little easier for me. He mostly eats what I eat. Carolyn, we aren't totally vegetarian any more, we both eat some fish and chicken. I don't snack much at all, while that is his downfall.... he snacks a lot and usually junk. M&M's, cookies, corn chips. I'm not tempted by those things so it's OK for me to have that around. his lipids are too high while mine are good. I'm looking for things he can snack on. he eats an incredible number of raisins! ( I rarely eat dried fruit) anyway, he wants to take off a few pounds and see if it helps his lipid levels. less chocolate and corn chips won't hurt. I need to come up with things he can snack on. I keep saying half an apple with PB. I like it, it takes some chewing so isn't gone in a microsecond. I made him some hard boiled eggs. I remember a frozen banana dipped in chocolate I used to like think I just saw it on a WW menu
we each have a 1 TB serving of ice cream at night. I have some frozen juice pops but its kind of cool for those to sound good.

I also prefer weights after cardio. the other way doesn't seem right and I like being warmed up first.

Hi. My name is Melanie and I am 51.
I was hoping to join your group as I like to connect with others my age.
I am currently doing STS. I have had to cut back on running and plyometrics for a bit until my bum knee feels better.

Good evening ladies!!!!

This morning was WS3 Metabolic Conditioning. I really like this workout and find it more challenging than what I anticipate. I go heavier with weights than Jessica and she packs a lot into this workout. I ended with a quick Bellicon squat/chair bounce to finish off the legs.

Hi Melanie! Welcome to the group. I am 56 years young and I love chatting about workouts and life with these woman. I have been working out with Cathe since 1994 and in the last couple of years have added in Barre and Rebounding. STS is a great program. Hope your knee improves!

Deb...I have not done Pump Party yet. Will put this on the radar. It hit 32 degrees here earlier today and it is pathetic we thought it was so nice out!! Hope your back is better.

Diane Sue....I think the Fit Split rotation is the same in the calendar. I haven’t really looked at it. I hope the whole 30 helps your daughter. I agree with the loaning of kindle books.

Carolyn...I like strength before cardio too. I feel It is hard to give it my all with weights if I am tired from cardio. I loved Boxing Bootcamp! I have not done any of the weight workout yet. Was waiting on the guide to decide which rotation to do. Good to get the feel of rebounding. Amy’s newest workout is extremely fast pace. My HR was up there!

Valerie....Nice workout yesterday! Yeah Trigger!! Lol! I too prefer more of an athletic step workout than a dancy one with twists and spins. I just can’t get the moves and end up not workout out and fustrated!

Have a great night all! Hi to Judy!!!

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I did Yoga Relax and this morning I did Walk Strong Boost Metabolism & Muscle Lower Focus, then Barlates OId School Arms and I finished with a short and easy indoor ride. We are getting a short break in the weather, with warmer temps for a few days. We did get about 3 inches of snow last night and it looks like we have another winter storm coming later in the week.

Melanie-Welcome to the group! I am 55 and have only been working out with Cathe since 2013. I also used to run and bike a lot more than I do now. I plan on doing another round of STS later this year, it's a great program.

Lori-I really like WS3 Metabolic Conditioning too. She does pack a lot into that workout! It felt like a heat wave here, with temps in the 30s. It's amazing how warm that can feel after a week of below zero windchills!

Valerie-your husband sounds a lot like mine, he loves to snack at night. He wants to lose a few pounds too so I am trying to help him with his diet. Great job with Low Impact Sweat! I need to get back to step workouts again.

Deb-I hope your low back is better. Pump Party looks like a good one.

Hi to Diane Sue & Carolyn!

Judy

Valerie, when my husband wants to quit the sugary snacks I purchase good quality beef jerky in 1# tubs. I guess that would not work so much for your husband. I do think they make turkey jerky. I tried salmon jerky once and hated it. We have a store here that is called the Beef Jerky emporium that has all kinds of jerky. They had some unusual things like elk, salmon, ostrich etc.. He will munch celery with some peanut butter spread on it. We kept lots of watermelon and red grapes handy when he lost all of that weight. Unsalted nuts make a good snack. They are probably a bit too much fat though to have many. I think that macadamia and walnuts have the best omega 6/omega 3 ratios. My husband loves barbecue potato chips and fritos which are generally easy for me to resist. It is the kettle jalapeno chips that are hard for me to resist. Or something with black pepper :) It always seems that it is sitting around watching television that increases the snacking. At least around our house. I do better myself if I go to bed early. Late night snacking is not a good thing either.

Melanie, welcome to our group :) Like Lori I have been working out with Cathe from pretty much the beginning. I have all of her workouts except the abs compilation dvd. I am 65 and intend to keep working out for many more years. You will gain a lot from the ladies here.

Lori, I want to do that Amy workout. I should go look and see how long it is. I am hot sure about adding it to tomorrows shred cardio and core from Fit Split though. I will see how I feel. So far all of the floor to standing and plank stuff has not set off the back today. I really think some of my issues was already being kind of sore from our room addition project. I did some ceiling paint touch up today where the new walls were put up. I have been downloading a lot of piano music to practice into my Kindle app. I sometimes wish I had bought the books to share with my grandson 17. It is convenient having it on my tablet though. Flipping the page when playing is much nicer than flipping the page with a book. I have advanced quite a bit over this last year with my piano playing since my grandchildren got my piano tuned for me :)

Judy, we are getting a short break right now. I think they even mentioned some 60 degree temps. I went out with a jacket today and was soon getting rid of it. 50 feels like a heat wave. I did see a slight chance of snow on Thursday though. That can change pretty quickly though.

I had an odd experience the other day. We stopped at Taco Bell for my husband to get some burritos and a drink before we went to my daughters. (he does not care for pancakes) Later when we got home I had a notification on my cell phone asking how my taco bell experience was. Now I don't use the cloud and try to keep my location off most of the time. The only thing I can figure is it picked up on the wifi? It makes me feel like I am being followed around and I do not like it.
