Pentagenarians & Beyond: 12/22/2024

This morning I did yoga/mobility for 20 minutes. Our weather is cold too. It’s sunny and beautiful, but once you step outside it’s cold for us at 33 degrees.

Judy, great job with your 45 minutes Peloton walk, 10 minutes of core, and 30 minutes of PT work.

Diane Sue, great job with LMR Functional Total Body, Anytime Mobility, Bavk pod and PT moves.

Cathy, great job with Core Fusion and Yoga floor premix. I’m sorry about the poor sleep.

Hello to Valerie and Shannon.

we mt biked this morning. our usual place. conditions were not good. its a commercial forest so unfortunately they are logging now right right where we need to start riding. they dont work weekends though. it makes the gravel road a mess and softens the surface. its MUCH harder to ride uphill. tires dig in more . last week it was as hard as asphalt and today it was like riding thru oatmeal. after the first half mile I was ready to quit but it got a little better as we kept going. a lot of debris from recent winds. whatever. we did an hour and a half before the rain got started. it was 40-ish temp so ok for riding.

I've done very little with the new workouts. I watched a little but didn't do much. I will try to look at core fusion today because I didn't do core today. how much I will have to modify, I don't know. my surgeon had told me to keep my back straight so i hold the thought when deciding what is okay to do. I have good mobility but I don't want to push the envelope too much and cause problems. I do a lot of forward bend things and childs pose because it stretches out my back and feels wonderful. yoga and core moves usually use twisting and bending moves. I dont want to do too much.

cathy good work doing anything after a bad night sleep.

Today I did a 60 minute Peloton Full Body Strength workout and a 20 minute walk. Tomorrow will probably be an active rest day.

Cathy-Great job with Core Fusion and the Yoga Floor premix. I'm sorry about the sleep.

Great job with your yoga/mobility work.

Valerie-Great job with your mountain bike ride.

Diane Sue-Great job with LMR Functional Total Body, Anytime Mobility, Back Pod and PT work.

Hi to Shannon

STS Disk 36 the last Shoulder, Biceps and Triceps workout. I'm hoping to go to my parents tomorrow so I can get an in person update from my Dad, but it's weather dependent.

Valerie the Core Fusion uses the stability ball, so there are at least a couple exercises you'd have to substitute because they would involve not keeping the spine straight. That sounds like a ride that would give you an extra good workout navigating all that.

Judy great job with the Peloton workout and walk.

Hi all. I locked myself out of the forums yesterday, LOL. I’ve been working my butt off raking leaves. Five hours Saturday and Sunday, and two and a half this morning. I think I’m done. My back tells me I need to be done! I’m taking a rest day for the rest of this day. I wonder how many squats and deadlifts I’ve done? And how many steps I got in? I’m on my phone now but will try to log on to my computer later for personals. I hope everyone has a great day!

Did another park walk this morning for an 1 hr 15. we did it in reverse this morning, and it felt longer but it took the same amount of time. makes sense of course because its hilly but is a circle. its the same loss and gain either way. surprisingly busy in the campground. so warm the frogs were croaking.

cathy he said "keep your back straight" but forward bends are so pleasant I do them and have since early on. I still get backaches and those are what help the most. I even do gentle cat /cow going slowly so I think Ill know if its not feeling OK. faster things involving cardio with bending and twisting seem riskier to me so I dont do them. I do bicycle maneuvers lying down. Ive always been very flexible and that hasnt changed .

Today I did KCM’s Cardio Quick Fix, workout two. That was 29 minutes, 214 calories burned, 135 average heart rate, and 167 maximum heart rate.

Did anyone see Cathe’s post about her knée replacement surgery? She posted last week to let people know in the Open Discussion forum but I totally missed it. I saw an update today that she posted on Facebook and I was very confused. Her surgery was December 13 and she seems to be doing well.

Valerie, nice job with mountain biking and the park walk.

Cathy, great job with STS disc 36 Shoulders, Biceps, and Triceps. I hope that you are able to visit your parents.

Judy, nice job with the 60 minute Peloton Full Body Strength and 20 minute walk.

Hello to Diane Sue and Shannon.

Today was a rest day. I did my PT work along with the LMR Restorative Yoga bonus. For some reason my leg was bothering me more today. I might have over done the strength work yesterday.

Cathy-Great job with STS Disc 36, Shoulders, Biceps and Triceps. I hope you are able to get to your parents tomorrow.

Valerie-Great job with the park walk.

Carolyn-Great job with KCM’s Cardio Quick Fix, workout two. I did see Cathe's FB post about her knee replacement but I didn't see the post in the Open Discussion Forum.

Hi to Diane Sue & Shannon

This morning I did LMR Pilates Fusion, 35 minutes, 195 calories burned, average heart rate 124 and maximum heart rate 157.

Valerie, you are making adjustments to your activities as your body demands. That’s exactly what you should be doing. Cathe was very forthcoming in her Facebook video about her surgery and what is happening afterwards.

Judy, great job with your PT and LMR Restorative Yoga bonus.

Hello to Cathy, Diane Sue, and Shannon.

Carolyn I know people who are absolutely delighted with their knee surgery and also a few who are deeply disappointed. My SIL has had both knees replaced and a recent hip with significant issues. the most current are happy. still not anything I will do without serious consideration I'm quite functional. no, cant do squats and lunges well anymore, but I can hike and ride a bike. I'm also rapidly approaching 77. my issue is the kneecap not the main joint surface. my understanding is a TKR because technology is so common and much better. knee cap surgery ends up needing a TKR at some time anyway. Cathy's post makes me a little less apprehensive. my neighbor is having a TKR in Feb with the surgeon I will likely use too. my BIL just had one a week ago. Our MT neighbor had one last summer. I meet the surgeon in early january and probably will schedule then because my knee will not get better by itself. is TKR the new cataract procedure? so simple and "everyday" that its considered no big deal? my SIL for example is totally deconditioned to begin with and resisted doing PT. not sure what she finally did. people who stay functional do much better.

I had to talk to my sister yesterday to order some things and had to listen to her long whine about how she had to shovel some snow, a tiny bit around her garbage cans and how she got so sore she could barely get out of bed. the rest got done by neighbors. does she do any exercise, EVER? no of course not. will she figure out she needs to do something( anything) to remain functional, no she wont even listen. its a short conversation.
did all therapy yesterday after the morning walk. I always do countertop pushups, and curls along with the other moves. today will do a warm up on bike or elliptical and then an upper body workout. maybe one of the new ones. we might be getting wind again today and a power out is possible.

Merry christmas to everyone. Hoping you have a pleasant holiday.
