Cathlete
Good morning, ladies— :) :) :)

I’m struggling this morning to wake up out of the fog, so I’ll save ME for later – either after work, if I can squeeze it in, or after dinner.

I am working all week, so at the moment, I’m not feelin’ the freedom thing. *lol* (The day goes by a helluva lot faster when teaching! Sitting around a table all day doing curriculum work is a brain-fryer.) I just ran out of time in the morning yesterday to post here and then never had a chance to come back at night. Went to a friend’s for a BBQ after work – ate grilled chicken, an ear of corn, and some fruit. AND I resisted the Corona Lights (my friends think I must not be feeling well *lol*). I'm proud of myself b/c the social eating situations are when I'm weakest! Still going strong this week with calorie control. It's funny how it's almost like a mental switch has gone off - when I *really* want to do something, it's not all that hard at all.

Wendy :: *lol* no, I’m sure I have more workout DVDs than friends! *lol* Sounds terrible, but I don't even feel like going tonight.

Diana :: cracked up at your explanation – thanks for puttin’ it into laymen’s terms!…I used the DVD player yesterday morning for CTX with no problems. Go figure. It's temperamental.

Angie :: it’s funny, when you are a team, it is often a situation of good cop, bad cop. I have found that whenever I’ve team taught, I somehow always become the bad cop when the situation calls for it. The woman I worked with this year was a super nice person but extremely passive; she would never step up. For example, if I was still on hall patrol and she was already in the classroom, I’d come in and she'd just be standing there or sitting there – wouldn’t take charge or redirect the kids if they weren’t doing what they were supposed to doing. I think when you are TOO passive, the students/employees respect you less…Being an authority figure/having to discpline is the least favorite part of my job, but sometimes it must be done...I don’t know if I mentioned it on this thread or on the cheetahs, but I am just going to try to run slower, stay in the aerobic zone, and increase my mileage. And I am going to continue working a little harder on the eating end of it instead of eating like I'm in maintenance mode. I’ve lost 3 lbs. so far.

Laura :: besides working FT this week, I have a few other PT gigs going on this summer, but I will get a good chunk of time off, for which I’ve budgeted carefully. Most teachers I know do not take the whole summer off. Many work FT at other jobs. One of my friends who is divorced budgets so that she doesn’t have to work at all in the summer, but she is *really* strict with her finances and doesn’t do a whole lot in order to pull that off. Not to mention…you’d be surprised how many hours of prep teachers put in in the summer, working on lesson plans and setting up the classroom, etc. I think this summer I will keep track of the hours, just out of curiosity...the girls night @ the Cajun restaurant sounds like a great time! I love fried dill pickles – they don’t serve ‘em up here but I tried ‘em in N’awlins! Delish!

Nancy :: glad to hear you like PS…that is one I don’t have and have thought about ordering.

Have a great day, everyone! Fingers crossed for those in asylum mode.
Cathy :)

Morning Post-Xers!:)

I slept in today. I didn't get up until 7:30! LOL I immediately felt my upper body after y'day's work out! I am going to need ibuprofen later I think. }(

I have spin, gs legs floor work and yoga on tap for today. My work outs will span morning, noon, and night! LOL I did not originally plan the gs leg floor for today but I am rearranging a bit in order to be able to go to the gym with DH tmrw night and to be able to run with my friend on sunday. :)

Cathy: So I found it odd that someone was having a bbq during the week. LOL What was the ocassion?

Diana: You go girl! Compliments and "skinny" clothes fitting! That's AWESOME!!! I've been getting compliments on my arms lately and I have to admit it's a great feeling! When someone notices things like that you really feel like all of your hard work has paid off!:+

Nancy: I've looked at Pure Strength a thousand times and thought about ordering it. I think now that I have the "X" and loved it so much that I probably won't ever get it. I'm sure it's good but I don't think I need it. Glad you liked it! :)

Angie: I never particularly liked push ups until Tony!!! The X made me like them because I got better at them while doing that program! I don't mind being called a guinea pig at all!:)

Morning Ladies ..

Girls night out was a blast .. VBF and another OLD VBF came too.. and we had a great time - we have this one friend who is just a total crack up .. I laughed so hard my cheeks hurt! did not do too bad on the CABS .. think I had 4 .. LOL!! No calling in sick for me .. I WISH ...

DH is trying to be nice .. did not even baulk that it was girls night out .. but I am still a bit ticked in the back of my head .. so the "make up session" has not taken place yet .. when that happens it will be fine!! LOL He had cooked himself a pot of turkey breast and rice (a lot less fattening than what I had) ..

OH .. the fried dill pickles .. DELISH!! did not pig out totally on them though .. the cajun bread is another weakness of mine .. they top it w/cajun cheese and spices and of course it is smothered in butter .. horribly fattening .. but devilshly good! Since I was so bad on the appetizers .. I only had a garden salad w/red wine vinigarette dressing .. mmmm mmm mmm!!! The CABs made up for the rest of the blown calories .. but they were better than anything on the menu!! LOL

Today is something in the gym .. tonights class is a combo of Plyo work, core torture, plank work, and push up torture .. so can't fry my muscles too bad at lunch .. LOL!!:)

OK .. gotta run .. got a girl about to come train w/me .. YUCK x(

Hope the asylum is better today than it was yesterday .. I think I almost emptied out my aspirin bottle yesterday!!!

will check back later ladies for personals! .. have a great one:7

Good morning girls:)

I'm NOT going into work today so I'm gonna try and find that good mood that I found a couple of days ago. I have to go shopping to get stuff for the camping weekend and go with MIL to get her will drawn up. Not very exciting stuff.
I was posing in front of the mirror with bathing suits to see which one looks the best. Dare I say they look pretty darn good for a change - certainly not perfect, but much better than last year. I'm feelin pretty good about myself except for this damn zit that just showed up in the middle of my forehead.}( I don't generally have problems with acne, but this one zit has decided to keep me grounded. Now that I have grown out my bangs, which seems like it took FOREVER, it's nearly impossible to hide. I'll be playing with the makeup I'm sure.:7

Cathy - Wow - you are up and at it early this morning. Couldn't sleep? I thought you were done with school - LOL! As if a teacher is ever really done huh? Do you get a long 4th of July weekend?
Corona light huh? When I was in Cancun a few years back it was hard to find anything to drink that wasn't corona. So, of coarse I tried it - to me, it tasted like skunk pi$$. Not that I have ever drank that, but if I were to, I'm thinking that's what it would taste like. I think there is some kind of trick to drinking corona and I just haven't figured it out. Perhaps it's an aquired taste? Maybe the lights are better. I also didn't use the lime. I switched to daquaries on that trip.
Just wondering if you are logging your calories? Someone on the main board suggested sparkpeople.com which is a free site to log calories. I love that site! It has a lot of neat tools to use. Folks on the main board have also mentioned fitday.com as well, but I haven't used that one. Spark works great for me.

Wendy - I woke up sore this morning too! Tony's pushup and pullup hell w/o will definitely do that to a person. :D I have no idea what I'm gonna do today but it will be later so that maybe I can work some of these kinks out.
Glad to hear that people are noticing your arms. You have worked really hard on them and I think someone would have to be blind not to notice those guns! ;-)

Laura - Sounds like you had a great time last night. Nothing beats laughter to diffuse some stress....especially when you combine it with CABS!:7 Are you ready for your trip this weekend? Do you do doggie bathmax before you leave or when you get back? Good luck with training the newbie - that is a pain. You must be awesome at your job if you are training someone - maybe you should ask for a raise. LOL!

BBL girls and have a great day!

Angie

OK .. Angie .. I am really scared now ..

.. I NEVER have zits . etc .. but I have one that is on MY FOREHEAD .. OMG .. that is BIZZARE! I attributed it to the stress, PMS, and work asylum .... We really might be running parrallell lives!!

AND IA on the Corona too .. LOL .. taste like skunk Pi$$ ... my trip to Mexico last year I tried them too .. DH loves them .. but I don't! I too switched to strawberry dacquiris and Miami Vices .. LOL! That is just bizzare!!

Wendy... congrats on the arm comment .. OH how nice it is for someone to recognize your hard work!! I know that made your day!

Cathe .. girl your summer off does not seem like much of a summer off .. LOL ... you work your butt off in your summer. one of my good friends is a teacher and she takes FULL advantage of her summer break .. she does nothing but hang w/the kids .. and lay by the pool ... must be nice!!

Diana .. your bootcamp class sounds awesome .. I am proud of you .. taking on another round of it .. your temps gotta be cooler than hours .. it is so hot and humid here windows are busting out in cars that sit in the sun during the day at work .. terrible!! Even at night it is hot .. running around 75 or so at night w/a heavy humidity .. during the day it is aroudn 98 or so .. w/heavy humidity .. yuck!!

OK .. better get some stuff done b-4 the trainee gets back .. I am trying to sneak back here on her breaks .. LOL!!!

have a great day Ladies .. and better workouts!:7

Hi Ladies,

I have back, hamstrings & abs at the rec ctr and bootcamp class tonight. I was so tired I barely woke up enough to say by to DH this morning. He leaves for work around 5:30-6am.

Cathy-well you up bright and early today. I did read on the OD the forum regarding running slower and staying in your aerobic zone. If sarah (imafitness freak) can run marathons following this type of training, it obviously works. Great job on the weight loss:)

Wendy-my arms are sore too from yesterday's C&T. Is so great to get compliments. It just seems to make all the workouts that much more worthwhile.

Angie-I'm glad to hear you weren't cleaning all day yesterday. I have a terrible acne problem and I'm in my 40's. I thought this stage would've went away when I had my hysterectomy, but no such luck. I have dermabrasions & peels but cannot afford to have them regularly, but they seem to help. Sorry you have to suffer through this.

Laura-It sounds like you a great night out with your friends. Have fun in class tonight.
It has been in the high 90's and even hit 100 a few times already. It is very dry here so fortunately I don't have to deal with humidity. The temps do go down to 60's overnight and probably the 70's-80's during my evening bootcamp class.

Nancy-yeah, school is out!!! Are you doing anything fun to celebrate:9 Enjoy your time off, it is probably over before you know it. Oh-I think you would like my bootcamp class. It certainly wouldn't kill a seasoned catheite like yourself.

Diana

Hey girls -

First full day of summer vacation and I slept until 10:30. Oh, I was up at 5, letting the dog out, made some coffee, and then hought "What am I an idiot?" and went back to bed. It felt good.

I already completed PS Legs and I thought that was another good one. I can really heavy up.

We're leaving on Saturday for the Jersey shore. I'll be gone for two weeks but the last time we were there we were able to connect to someone elses wireless in the neighborhood so we'll be bringing a laptop. I'm not sure yet what workouts we'll be bringing. Last year it was a real drag bringing so many weights with us but the thought of that long without these weights turns my stomach. I still don't know what we'll do. We're also going away on July 20th - 28th for a tour of California. I'm really excited about that one but I'm sure there will be no working out then. I think it's a pretty hectic/busy tour so I doubt I'll make the time to workout. Honestly, I don't want to make the time to workout, so my body will get to rest. We have a day to ourselves in Yosemite National Park so the most we'll do it take a hike or something on that one day. Well anyway, I guess I better drag these weights on this trip. I don't want to take the month of July off, lol.

Laura - ewww....a trainee. I'm not fond of training at all. It's so much harder than just doing the work yourself. I'm still waiting to hear about the DH "let's make up" workout, lol. I'm glad you enjoyed the night out with the girls. It's the best therapy out there.

Cathy - I can't believe you have to work on the curriculum. You're a teacher, right? Are you part of a committee that comes up with the curriculum or do all teachers have a say in it? Here in NYC, the curriculum is handed to the teachers. I know...it's horrible sitting around all day. I do that for a week at the end of the summer.

Wendy - I agree that you don't need PS. I think you would find it too easy but it's perfect for me. It's a lot like the GS but with less reps and slightly different exercises. It's good for me because I can go heavier because of the less reps and slower speed. If you're happy with the X, don't get these. I definitely think it's more intermediate unless you go REALLY heavy.

Angie - Enjoy your day off with MIL although it still sounds busy. I'm glad that you liked the way you looked in your bathing suits. I tried one on yesterday....I don't know, the jury is still out. I think the cellulite on my thighs is as alive and well as last year.

Okay, gotta shower and run to Costco. I'm BBQing on 4th of July down the shore and stuff. The bad thing about this vacation is I'm still cooking most meals. You can't eat out for two weeks straight so I mostly cook. There's so much to remember though.

Okay, have a good day!!!!

Nancy

Hi ladies~

A quick pop-in before I head off to dinner…then later ME??? I hope I find a second wind b/c I’m finding myself a wee bit tuckered after today’s work session.

Wendy :: *lol* This was just a BBQ dinner with a few friends, not a full-fledged party or anything. I guess using the word BBQ makes it sound that way. My bad – it probably came out that way ‘cause I love, love, love BBQ food (mmmm!) and that is all I was focused on. *lol*

Laura :: glad you had a blast last night – I smiled at the expression “crack up.” Every group needs one of those…Oh, I will definitely have time off to kick back – I’m not complaining by any stretch! But I think it’s a common misconception people have that all teachers have the summer off. True, some can afford not to work (esp. those in dual-income households) but many cannot. I guess it all depends on your circumstances and lifestyle…wow, and I thought it was hot here!

Angie :: I thought I might work out before work again, but I was kind of slow-moving today…I do tend to wake up early, anyway…I am done with school in terms of teaching – the kids are gone and now a group of language arts teachers who serve on a curriculum steering committee are meeting all week to revamp our curriculum. We are entering year three of a five-year process.
Friday is our last day of summer work. We also meet during the school year…CL may be an acquired taste…I started drinking it during one of my trips to NOLA when I came down with a cold/sore throat…one of my friends drinks it, and I looked at the lime in her bottle and had a brainstorm (you know, the kind the comes along with a few CABs) - thought the citrus might make my throat feel better. So, I started drinking it, it went down smoooooth, and I’ve never gone back. *lol*

Diana :: It does sound like Sarah is having great success with making speed gains through the slower running…that certainly would be an added benefit!

Nancy :: Yosemite is on my list of places to see someday…hope you take lots of pics!…Yes, I’m a language arts teacher…my participation on the committee is voluntary…During the year, I receive professional hours for the work; in the summer, we get paid. That stinks that the teachers in your district don’t have a say in it.

Gotta run! Have a great night!
Cathy :)

I got my shipping notice-my new Lowmax dvd should be delivered on July 2nd:) Oh-and I got free shipping since I placed this order with my preorder. DH is going to asking questions soon. I have a big box from Lands End that came yesterday. Next week is a package from Cathe...

Cathy-Maybe you should just take a rest day-no worries.

Nancy-I like the Pure Strength series also. It's nice to mix up our weight routines with different exerices.

Have a great night everyone.

Diana

Well spin and GS floor work got done but I'm bagging yoga. I'm too tired tonight. I just want to veg in my quiet house this evening. :) I can do yoga on saturday or sunday if I want to.

Laura: I feel your pain with the trainee. I hate training people. I am an AWFUL teacher. x(

Angie: Bangs take forEVER to grow out, don't they!? OMG! I've done it a couple times in my life and it's a hassle!!! LOL Yeah...forehead blemishes are not easily hidden when one doesn't have bangs. SORRY!}(

Diana: So how many bootcamp classes will you be taking in total? That sounds like an awesome work out. I've tried to find stuff like that near me but have not succeeded yet. :-(

Nancy: So which beach are you heading to for vacation? I personally LOVE Wildwood. I am going to Myrtle Beach, SC this year on vacation. I can't wait! I hope you have a great time. Your trip to Cali sounds fabulous. ENJOY!

Cathy: I am with you on the BBQ food. Nothin' like hotdogs, hamburgers and salads. YUMMY!:9

Talk to everyone in the morning!:+

Hi again

This day just flew by. I found myself doing Supersets at 6pm.:D I bagged the add on BBC weight portion that I was planning on b/c I have too much to do and I was feeling worked out. I was thinking SS was easy, but...not so much. It's not as intense as GS but it's not easy either.

Laura - Isn't that weird?? It would be fun if we could actually meet - too bad we live so far away. I bet we'd have lots to talk about. I would be easy to recognize - the one with the great big zit in the middle of her forehead!}( LOL
Hey - haven't heard about the beach house lately. Did the deal fall thru? (crossing fingers);-)

Diana - Man that really stinks about the acne problem. My sis has had to deal with it her whole life and I've never really had a problem. So, I appreciate your sympathy, but it's really not that bad - I just look like a dork.:D I'm planning on acting like one this weekend too, so it'll be a good match. LOL
I'll bet you'll be tired again tonight after bootcamp. Hopefully it will be a little cooler for you. Let us know how it went.

Nancy - Bringing the weights on vacation. You are dedicated! I might bring an ipod (if I had one) with some CC workouts, but weights? Nah - not me. So, are you bringing Cathe and Tony with you too?
I hope you can still get the wireless internet on vacation again. If we don't hear from you after Saturday, I guess we'll know why.
I have the dreaded cellulite on the back of my legs too, but it's not as bad as last year and I can't see it which I think is a good thing. That is my biggest trouble spot! Maybe if I just sit on it a lot - no one will notice. :p

Wendy - Hey girl - why don't YOU teach a bootcamp class in your area? I think you could come up with a lot of torture to inflict on your students. I think you'd do great.

Have a nice relaxing evening all

Angie
