Nice to meet you!

Hi All!

I've been a lurker on the forums for quite some time (years!), but figured this was as good time as any to actually post.

I'm 39, a certified personal trainer living in the Metro Atlanta area, married 15 years w/ 2 children--DD 13 and DS 9.

I found Cathe on FitTv some time after my son was born and I was trying to loose the baby weight. I've been working out with her ever since, and she's gotten me in the best shape of my life. She is the reason I became a personal trainer. Cathe's step workouts are my favorite, although I also love kickboxing, weight lifting, boot camp style workouts, cycling, hiking, and I'm what I call a "fair-weather runner".

I feel like I know so many of you here, it's nice to finally say "Hi!"

Jana

Welcome!

Hi Jana,

We'd love to have you in our personal trainers social group. Please join us!

Hey girl! No worries ;) If you blink these days, you miss something, and that's in your OWN house :p

We came out here June 9. We wanted to get out of NY for a loooong time. No family there & the cost of living was KILLING us. No place for a young family to start out (unless you are a part of old money or, AHEM, know some famous people).

Hubby went to Northwestern and always loved the Chicago area. Can I just say I love midwesterners? They are SO nice. Never lived off the east coast before.

Congrats on all your running accomplishments! You ROCK!!

Glad you are happy out there!:)

I would be so afraid to move even THAT far. I'm such a wuss. LOL Then again, I'm close to lots of family so that definately adds to it. If I didn't have family around I might very well not mind.

I never got to visit you in NY but DO plan to be in Chicago for the 09 marathon so perhaps a visit will have to be an order!:D

Thanks re my running. I'm not fast but I do my best and that's all that matters to me. :)

Yo. I'm Lainie. The fig thing is because Fig is my dad's nickname for me (yeah, he's weird). I am a stay-at-home mom with 2 little boys (Isaac, 6 and Ewan, 3) and a Boston Terrier puppy named Sgt Pepper.

This post is great - I've been off the site for a month or so and it's been fun to come here and read about the people I'd sort of gotten to know and to meet new people.

Lainie - I always wondered why you were the fitness fig. Had to tell you how much i appreciate the Cathe Compendium and all the other cool stuff you've created on your blog/website. I silently bless you every time I pick up the compendium....thank you!!

My name is Suzie Price, I live in ATL, GA. I've 44. Grew up in the South and I am definitely a southern girl. I am married to a wonderful man - 11 years. And have a BFF in my dog, Oscar and I enjoy our stray cat who's now ours, Felix.

I have a professional development company (Priceless Professional Development) this is my 5th year in business. I work with corporations to improve work performance through assessment, surveys and development programs, mostly for leaders and with teams.

I found fitness in college, where I started going to Spa Lady after class. On eday the Spa Lady manager asked me to teach a class. I was not athletic in college, so it was a big deal to even try to do that. It changed my life.

I found a passion. I practiced my workout routines for hours and found that I loved loving the class and pushing myself. I loved the energy found in a group of people who want to become more...that led to all sorts of contacts and people and self-awareness, that did really change my life.

I love Cathe because she's tough, supportive and encouraging, A great role model of authentic and focused behavior. Something I hope to be as I work with my clients.

I have spent a lot of fun, happy times on this forum over the last months - glad to be tuning in again...I love the encouragement we all give each other...very nice.

You're welcome, Suzie, but I can't take credit for the compendium. It was compiled by others and I only added some 4DS info and uploaded to my site. I'm glad to help by making it easily accessible, though!

Hi!

I'm Dani. I started here on the message boards back in 2002.
I have a 12 year old son (Nick) who will be turning 13 on Valentine's Day.

I also have a 4 month old baby (Luke). He was born on July 3rd. :)

I just turned 40 in August. I can't even believe it. I think I refuse to believe it. Teehee!
I am a software engineer. I've been doing this for about 12 years.

My husband is a singer in a country/rock/blues band and has opened for some big names like Kellie Pickler, Montgomery Gentry, Jake Owen, Charlie Daniels, Chris Cagle, Keith Anderson and more... :) It's been such a blast getting to go to his shows and meeting all these people, but now with the baby I haven't been able to get out to them very much.

We're so excited with out new little guy. He's such a joy!

I was in the Navy from '88 - '92. It was one of the best experiences of my life. I loved it! I even LOVED bootcamp if you can believe it. I was in Orlando, Florida for bootcamp back when that naval base was still open. After bootcamp, I was stationed near San Diego in Coronado, California. It was awesome! I only stayed in for four years so that I could go to school at I.S.U. I'm from Illinois and I took advantage of the Illinois Veterans Scholarship.

I trained for and ran the Chicago Marathon in 2005. I never thought I'd ever do something like that, but I did it. Yay!

I love Cathe and have all of her DVDs. :) I pre-ordered STS right when I first found out I was pregnant. So it's going to come at the perfect time. :)

I've met some really great people here on the Cathe forums. Some great friends on the 2005 road trip too. Actually, one of them is now my best friend. :D

I had a miscarriage in 2006 and the outpouring of support here just blew me away and really helped me through it.

I don't get much time to check in to these forums but I try to as often as I can.

Great thread!

Hi! I am 47, married with two kids, and live in metro-Atlanta area. I've been working out at home since the very first Firm video (87?), but have been doing Cathe since 1999 or 2000.

My husband and I run our own business at home, so I can't imagine joining a gym and actually having to go work out! We set up a gym in our basement and have enjoyed working out there together.

My fitness goals are to lower my body fat (which has been increasing with age ) and increase my strength. I've stopped worrying about my weight because I think the increased muscle mass has increased my weight.

I like the Cathe forum because I've met so many nice people who are serious about exercise and taking care of themselves. I can't think of a single friend of mine who even bothers to exercise, so it's nice to be able to bond with people who do!

I also love the exchange of information. For example, I would have never considered adding kettlebells if it weren't for the advice I received here!

Thanks to Jodi for starting this thread!

Great idea! It's nice to learn more about everyone on the forum these days

My name is Maggie, I'm 31 and I live in Canada. I enjoy photography and cooking (not at the same time:p), both calm and relax me. I’ve been married for almost 5 years to a great guy and we’re planning a trip to Mexico in February for two weeks to celebrate our anniversary. I can't wait! I must say there is nothing like a new bikini to motivate you to kick up the workout intensity. I've been working out on a regular basis for about 6 years now and with Cathe for about a year. I have seen great strength gains with Cathe and can finally do some regular 'boy' push-ups! I also never thought I'd enjoy weight lifting so much. I also love Cathe's step workouts but had to cut back on them a bit because of the plantar fasciitis. Enter Cardio Coach! If it wasn't for this forum (and my friend Marta) I don't think I would have come across it and now I’m hooked! Thanks!

I have a basset hound named Sally and two cats, Loki and Seamus. They are our furry family and keep us entertained. No kids here (at least not yet), for now I spoil my little nephew and there is a niece on the way as well!

My name is Gabrielle. I'm 48. I've been married for 12 years (this time around). DH and I have a home based business selling books on line. We have four cats and zero kids. DH is British. We met here in AZ through mutual friends. I moved here from Italy where I lived for almost 20 years. In our free time we try to get out of town as much as possible because if we stay home we wind up working all the time.

I discovered Cathe around the time CTX came out but kept her videos mostly on the shelf until about three years ago. Now I rarely use any other of my workouts.

Hi, everyone! I'm Dianna, 44 years old, married to DH for 22 years, and have two sons, 18 and 14, and a 10-year-old Sheltie. I've been a court reporter for 24 years. Where did the time go? I tend to be shy and am more likely to lurk on these boards than post, but I'm trying to crack my shell and open up more. I tend to take myself too seriously so I need some lessons from Ellie on how to loosen up.;)
I discovered Cathe on Collage with HSC in 2005 and was surprised to find her gym is only 10 minutes from me. It took me three years to get up the nerve (and endurance) to go take a live class, but I'm so glad I did. I've met some wonderful people at the Tri-Staters' get-togethers and look forward to going to more.
Add me to the fit/fat club. While I love to work out, my eating is definitely not clean and I need to lose 10-15 pounds.
This was a great idea. It's so interesting reading about everyone. Thanks!

Dianna...

You've been to Cathe's classes? I'm so envious! It would be a long drive or a short plane ride for me.

I would love to go on a Road Trip! Must work up the nerve to jettison DH and kids and go!

I haven't read all the posts yet so I'll have to go back another time and finish meeting you guys....

I'm a 39 yr old 'stay at home wife". I'm vision impaired so I don't work or drive. I'm married to a wonderful man and 'mom' to a 80lb lab/shepherd mix, April. We live in Memphis, TN. As my name suggests I collect penguins. I quilt, occasionally knit, mostly donating my projects to 'baby places'. I am also involved in a local Community Bible study.

I started to exercise in March of 06, being a couch potato before that time. I had a blood test which showed I was pre-diabetic, and was told to lose weight. Thus started my exercise career. I lost 70lbs and was pronounced diabetes free! I discovered Cathe on FitTv shortly after I begain to exercise and have amassed as many workouts as possible. I'm also active on VF.

I like to bake more than cook. I like to garden in the spring and fall but don't do much outside during the steamy summer. {why do we live here again?} I am cold-natured so my hands, feet, and nose are always cold! I don't watch TV, either. I have two wonderful healthy parents. My quilting buddy is a Physical Therapist in real life so I get a lot of good advice from her. I don't know anyone else 'in real life' who shares my interest in workout videos, but I can occasionally get Hubby to workout with me, however, I mostly exercise when he's at work.

I started reading this thread about 30 minutes ago, and since it's then it has gone from 5 to 8 pages! Probably more by the time I hit submit.

I'm 36 and live in NJ. I have been married for over 8 years. I have 2 very adorable lovable cats, but no one else knows it because they are afraid of visitors. My husband and I both work with computers, but in different specialties.

I love TV, I love when all the new shows come out and finding a new great one, this year my new fav is True Blood on HBO. I really enjoy finding great new restaurants. I used to play poker all the time, but I've been on a bit of a hiatus, and don't hit the casinos nearly as often, I still do love Vegas, such a great escape from real life. I listen mainly to top 40 and hip hop music.

I am a fickle exerciser and need lots of variety. I used to work out only at a gym until I discovered Cathe early this year. I am currently taking a fitness kickbox class for my cardio, and using a variety of Cathe dvds for weights, I have added kettlebells recently, and am getting increasingly excited to receive my STS!!

It has been great fun reading all of the posts in this thread, so, I've said enought about me, gotta go back and read the ones I've missed!

It's only 2 pages for me. If you would like to click through fewer pages, I think it's an option (click Edit Options) on your User CP page.

Anyway, northern or southern NJ? I only ask because I'm in NY near NJ and I am always curious if any Catheites are nearby.

No way??? I'm going to have to look at changing the page views, never even thought that would be an option.

I am in northern NJ, and work in Bergen county (also Northern NJ).

I wish I were closer to Cathe's gym, but it's definitely a long drive from here. One day I might do an overnight and check out a class, that is of course if I get the nerve up to go to a live class!

Oh and thank you for your fig site, I downloaded the Cathe STS worksheets from your site, they are just great.

OK, cool. I'm in Nyack in Rockland County, NY if you know where that is (near the Tappan Zee Bridge). I think it was like 2 1/2 hours from here to Cathe's gym when I went to the August RT. I wish I were closer, too, but it's still closer than most people.

You're welcome for the fig tools. I think it was Christosz (hope I spelled that right) who put together the STS worksheets and kindly let me put them on my site.

Hi, actually from where I work, Nyack is not very far, I have two friends from work that grew up there, they seemed to really like it there too.
