My First Post on Here

I will try to keep this short, but there is so much I want to say.

First, I am sooooo glad I found Cathe on FitTV. I was getting bored with all the generic 20-minute workouts that never really seemed to inspire and motivate me. That all changed when I saw my first Cathe Friedrich workout. What's funny is that I tore my calf muscle back in June and was really upset about it because I had just started working out to Cathe's Cardio Blast and had finally been able to make it all the way through. I was so excited when I was given the official okay that my leg had healed up enough to where I could start working out again. It took me a while to get back up to speed, but now I've found a new favorite: Rhythmic Step.

Second, I am asthmatic, so I am unable to use a step when I work out to Cathe's step routines. Also, I usually have to keep the workouts low impact when she goes into the high impact segments. I also need to take more frequent breaks so as to avoid asthma attacks. Ironically, working out regularly has strengthened my lungs, and my asthma attacks are less frequent and less severe. I just want to tell everyone out there who has tried to use excuses for not working out (I don't have a step, I have asthma, I don't have the proper equipment) that those excuses can be reasons, and that you don't have to have a step to do step aerobics. I can do all the moves Cathe does, but I just do them on the floor rather than on a step. I still work up a hefty sweat -- just ask my husband. I've never had to use a towel during my workouts until Cathe came along...now I have a towel with me and use it several times during a workout.

I absolutely love the creative footwork in Cathe's step routines. Whenever I do Rhythmic Step, I can't believe that an hour has gone by when it's over. I get so caught up in all the rhythm changes and footwork that I completely lose track of time. Also, I've learned several new "tricks" to keeping my weight work fresh. I used to do a "fast" contraction and a "slow" release in my weight work, but now I have started playing with making the contraction slow and the release fast. It has pushed my muscles to new limits, and I don't feel so much of a "burn" after my workouts, but I can tell I'm stronger and have worked my muscles.

I look forward to more of Cathe's workouts; I plan on building a good collection of Cathe Friedrich videos and DVD's in the future.

Welcome Catwoman,

Congratulations on your successes and perserverence. Now you know why we are all Cathe FAN-atics. Once you try a Cathe workout, and stick with it until you master it, there is no turning back.

Enjoy, oh and get used to a very hot credit card!

Catwoman WELCOME to the wonderful world of CATHE:D WARNING once you start buying her dvd's it becomes addicting and you can't stop until you have them all }(

Thanks!

So, as a "newbie" to Cathe, what suggestions do you all have for which DVD's/Videos to buy?

I have obviously done Rhythmic Step, and I have also "mastered" Cardio Blast (but, let's face it, how can anyone really "master" one of Cathe's grueling workouts? :p ). I have dabbled in a few of her weight workouts, such as Legs and Glutes and the Pyramid series. The Kick, Punch, and Crunch workout is still just a little too advanced for me and my asthmatic lungs, but I hope to get to that one someday.

So, what I would like are more cardio workouts. Maybe not the most extreme ones, but ones that definitely will challenge me and work me into the more advanced ones. I like the sound of Cardio Kicks, but my only reservation is "What if it's as intense as Kick, Punch, and Crunch?" Any recommendations? I want to feel challenged, and I enjoy creative footwork.

I think I'm already addicted. :7

What's funny is I haven't bought a single DVD or video, yet. I've taped them off FitTV, but FitTV has a tendency to cut out segments of her videos to fit them into the 1-hour timeslot. So, starting my offical Cathe Friedrich library with purchases from her collection isn't far behind. I don't like that there is more to the workout than I'm getting off of FitTV. I WANT IT ALL! :7

When I first started Cathe, I would view the video clips over and over. Then read these boards to see what the experts here thought of each workout. You can also read reviews on videofitness.com of all of Cathe's workouts.

So far I have been happy with each and every Cathe workout that I have added to my inventory.

Welcome catwoman,

I am glad you are enjoying your fitness journey. Listen to your body and tweak when neccessary. Oh, don't forget to post.

Hello Catwoman and welcome. If you love Step Blast then I think you would love Step blast which is similar but with fresh dancy moves.

Now we all know that once anybody finds "Cathe" well you know getting the old credit card out. I found Cathe about 2 years ago and never turn back. I bought every workout she has and now just keep on top when she releases new videos.

Just for your information I would not buy in VHS because it is so much better on dvd with all the premixes and other options that Cathe provides for her fans and not only that but she will not be releasing any future videos in VHS format and only in dvd. Well anyway enjoy Cathe and take it easy with your injury;-).

Welcome Catwoman!

So glad you're here! Congratulations on finding the best workouts in the world.

I was going to suggest Step Blast to you too. Some of the older ones I love are Step Fit & Step Works & Maximum Intensity Step.

Also, you may want to check out the thread labeled something like "Results Are In" to see how Cathe's addicts...er, fans...rated her workouts.

Have fun,
Ruth :)

Welcome! I love Cathe's step workouts (well I love all of Cathe's workouts) and have everythings she's made. Glad you are enjoying them along with the rest of us! :) :)

Hi Catwoman,

I also have asthma. I first used the Firm and my aerobic capacity increased. Then I found Cathe, which I had to work up to. Now, I can do entire tapes. Usually, I cannot keep up the high intensity throughout an entire 60 min. cardio tape, but I just modify to the lower intensity options. Or, sometimes, if I start to weeze during the workout, I just take the inhaler, which enables me to continue. I find that the Interval workouts really increase my lunge capacity. I can go longer with the straight cardios after I've done the interval workouts for a while. This month's rotation should really be beneficial for me.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Cathe!

Cathy:)

Thanks to everybody! It sounds like I'm going in the right direction according to everyone's comments. I've already got some of the workouts suggested, and the others are on my "need-to-buy-soon" list.

I'm already addicted to Cathe's workouts; now I just need to buy more of them. :)
