Lurker Invitations Feb. Check-In

Hello and Welcome all Nubies!!
I am very tired and off to bed but wanted to quickly check in and post my work outs. And Holly Cow this has been a busy thread!

So won't get in to personals now, hopefully I will have more time tomorrow. My DD was soooo sick over the weekend and I am convinced that sick husbands are way harder to deal with than sick kids!

Workout:
Cardio: short 45 minute walk in Boulder, moderate pace, flat & firm surface. Burnt 253 cals
Taught Pilates Privates: 2.5 hours burned 463 cals (wore monitor bc I was curious and was surprised!!}
Taught Pilates Mat Class: Intermediate burnt 253 cals
Taught Total Tone Class: did some bootcamp style drills 30 minutes and pyramid up weights on Tirceps, Shoulder, Biceps & short core & stretch burnt 563 cals

Needless to say I am exhausted.....and the question of over training has been heavy on my mind of late....I can't imagine why:eek::eek::eek:

Talk to ya'll later

O.k. Just checking in in the morning. DH just took DD's to school and have a quiet morning before I go teach my class at the Recreation Center. I was so tired last night after class, I got caught up on the last episode of LOST on line while I ate dinner and then I peeled myself off the couch and went to bed. No problem falling asleep and them BAM I was wide awake again!! I probably only slept for 20minutes before I woke up. BIG BUMMMER, so after tossing & turning for awhile I finally took a sleeping aid, now feeling very groggy and out of it!

Ironlady: Nice to meet you, I am still thinking about STS so maybe we could start together in March, alhtough I was leaning towards May....Have you done your !1RMS yet?

U.K. Laura, welcome aboard. Are there lots of Cathe fans in England? I haven't been on your island since 1993. I love it there,my mom is English although she was born and raised in India...

Michelle I have CTX on my wish list, at first I thought it looked a little dated, but I love the way the workouts are broken down and there seems to be lots of variety, is that true, many workouts for the price? And I definitely need some shorter workouts for busy days or when the DOMS are bad.

Janie: how's STS??? Have you started or just previewing. I wish I was closer bc I would be at your house in a heart beat to check it out. I would feel like a kid before Christmas too if I were you! How is the clean eating going. I was wondering what your diet breakdown is you know how many calories what you micro break down looks like.

Welcome back Tracy, I can relate to sick kids and family dramas!!! It seems like life is what happens when we are busy planning all of our great workouts!! And as moms we always seem to be the first one's to let our plans slide for everyone else!:(

Hey there Tracy Lynn you are hitting those Gym Styles Hard getting results?? They are my favorite go to DVDS as well, but recently doing more the pyrmaid & 4DS

EllieP: Hope you are well. You have a video library that makes me green with Envy, I think I need a little more variety over here. Who are your top 5 DVD workout personalities. Or the top 5 DVDS you couldn't live with out??

Shadow Pup: Good travels, and keep up the good work, STS will be waiting for you when you get back most likely. I want to ask you the same question as ElliePWho are your top 5 DVD workout personalities. Or the top 5 DVDS you couldn't live with out??

Hi to all others.

BBL to check in with workouts.

Hello to all - new person here

I'm not entirely sure if I'm a lurker - need a definition but sort of figured I was probably guilty of that. I often want to tell somebody about my workouts or just share some little tidbit of nonsense and it nearly always falls on the deaf ears of my DH. I know he could care less. So I did High Step Challenge last night. I LOVE that workout.

I got into Cathe when a good friend of mine starting recording some of her workouts on FitTV. They don't show the entire workout on there so I would get this chopped up version and I wanted to know more. After that, I just started buying everything Cathe. I realized that a lot of The Firm I had been using were actually intermediate workouts and I needed more intensity. I have sometimes been selective purchasing because I didn't want to end up with workouts I didn't want to do. (I have a ton of excess Firm I don't use anymore.) So anything kickboxing is off my list. Hate kickboxing! Bought STS. I have not started and I'm sure when I will - I am convinced now that I will need to do the 1Rep Max testing although I wasn't sure I would. Seemed like too much paperwork - I just want to workout.

In other news I just got and am wearing a new pair of BCBG Girls brown pumps that are gorgeous. I keep seeking a peek at my feet!!

I am also immensely thrilled and excited that the STEELERS won the superbowl!!!!! Sorry, had to get that in somehow.

I would love to get to know everyone here - it is kind of overwhelming.

Hi everybody--just a quick post during my lunch break then back to work.

Today was Step and Intervals from cross train express. I think this is one of my favorite step routines--lots of fun. This particular routine includes chest work. I find that I do better with push-ups when Cathe does them first on the upper body work, when they come at the end, after the weight work, I'm toast.

Pippadog1: It's nice to have an international voice. I have a colleague who just moved to the UK and now telecommutes from across the pond. Bet she thought she wasn't going to see a lot of snow this year. Heard yesterday that you guys got quite a bit.

STS: I've only been exercising with Cathe for a year, so I'm still focused on getting through all Cathe's earlier dvds. It's been fun to read everyone's excitement regarding STS. Looking forward to hearing more about it as folks work their way through the different mesocycles. I'm really interested in hearing about that ab dvd.

IRONLADY: I'm with you on those leg presses. I love HST, but those leg presses really get me in the gotchya.

ShoeGal: I just tried HS Challenge for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I made it through the routine, but is was truly a challenge!

Question for the regulars: Do we continue to post to this check-in thread throughout February or does the group migrate to another thread? If so, how do us new guys tell which thread?

Thanks,
~michelle

Hi Everyone

Today was gym style legs. I upped the weights and only did the standing portion, which was a killer. I'm sort of moving away from leg floor work as I seem to get DOMS from just standing.

Thanks Janie I've tried herbal teas in the evening and they're not too bad. I might try the teeth brushing tonight, see if that works.

Laura I think there are a few of us here in the uk that do Cathe but to be honest she's not as well known over here as in the states. I love her, she's really the best. I've got myself on the nutrition program for a month to see if it helps with my food accountability.

Tomorrow I think I'll do Step Blast or another cardio. Then I've got to have a root canal so that should be fun (not lol).

Anyways hope you all have great days and fab workouts.

Love
Laura uk

Hey Hey!

I should have listened to you Janie. I felt like CRAP durring my w/o yesterday. I just feel soooo guilty when I don't workout. I will prob just do legs from ME today and thats it!!

WOW- we are getting lots more joiners.

UK Lara- Nice to meet you! Awesome work with GS Legs. Have fun with the root canal;)!

Michelle- Push-ups have always been a struggle for me at the end of a w/o, acutally at the begining too!

Shoegal- LOL about admiring your new shoes! I love shoes too! Pumps especially!

Laura- Take care of yourself. Burn out would be bummer.

Janie- I am dying to here about STS! How are they?

Hola! To everyone i missed.

Janie, no need to rub it in, you got your sts!!!! I am jealous! I did not do priority mail or anything so my sts is somewhere out there although my order number was fairly low. It always takes a loooooong time for things to get to me since I am out here in the west. So when do you plan on starting?? Have you finished the 1RM thingy? I haven't even started.

I did the fist w/o on the Chalene Extreme program on Sunday. Serious DOMS yesterday in the hamies! I told DH to get his rescue equipment (he's a fire captain) and pry me off the toilet as I didn't think I could get back up. Yesterday was a rest day and today I did another CE w/o. Now if I could just eat clean!! DH caught me eating a low fat 3 musketeers bart last night and he start making piggy noises. I still polished off the bar and washed it down with wine. As you can see I have quite the epicurean palate!

Tracy what part of Mexico did you go to? I am twenty minutes from the border and would not go there now as they are the kidnapping capital of the world now. Corrupt police and officials everywhere!

Shoegal: what a fabulous name! I suffer from a shoe fetish affliction myself! I know the feeling of peeking at your feet just to see a fab pair of shoes! I was in Vegas two weeks ago and although I was gigantic loser at the blackjack table I kept peeking down at my something blue shoes and I would get warm and fuzzy all over!

Tracy my condolences on your uncles passing. Hope your little man is feeling better from that double ear infection, they can be painful.

Laura from the UK with the milk addiction. Maybe try to switch over to soy milk? It does have less sugar. It was hard for me to switch over as it seems soy is an acquired taste but I finally switched over to lowfat vanilla. Now when I drink regular milk, it really upsets my stomach.

To all the ladies here, have a great day and lets keep pumping that iron!!

Booboo- We went to Cozumel. I am feeling better now. That is scary though! I had no idea!

Hello all:
So taught my pilates class, but it was kind of a weird class today, two woman kept complaining about how hard is was, they are both regulars and I know they love me and the class so I tried not to let it get to me. But I never know what to do, do I keep going, slow it down a bit??? Any thoughts? I try to do a little of both. I know some times I am yelling at Cathe through my t.v., but I don't really want her to lighten up, ya know??

Then very quick snow-shoe up the road with my puppy. Gorgeous warm sunny day and had planned for a good long snow-shoe but had to cut it short because one of my daughters needed to come home due to a caugh.:(

Had planned to do chest/back from 4DS but have to let it go.......

Good Evening,

Sherry, HST is a hard workout, you did good.;)

Laura, I think your customers are paying for what they get which is a great workout. I think you are right, let them complain and continue as normal. Or you could suggest to them how to modify. Sorry you had to cut the snow showing early, but, daughter needed you. That's life, it comes before anything.

Booboo, I'm also in the West. In Wash. state close to Olympia. I did finish the 1RM's. I got the STS yesterday and my Joey and I did the first disk today. I know we will feel it tonight, tomorrow and probably the next day. Oh, but it was good for us. Prying you off the toilet, You are so funny! Exercising can do that, I know. I have some bad habits as well when it comes to eating. I'm so trying to be good, especially when I worked so darn hard.

Tracy Lynn, Oh my! STS is kicking my DH and My Butts. It is so good. Some of the workouts we had to lower our weights, so I made sure that I corrected it because since we want to lose weight, we will probably do another month of it. The Push ups, had to modify every one of them. My body is just too heavy yet to go on my toes. We do push ups on our knees. We will feel this for days to come, I just know it. Love everything about this series.

Laura uk, Gym Style legs are one of the hardest workouts to do. I'm impressed what you did. Great job! I'm thinking of Step Blast tomorrow too. I'll be thinking of you.

Talk with you all tomorrow.

Janie

Hi All!

Welcome newbies and welcome back Tracy and I hope everything is well with your little boy.

Yesterday, I did some more 1RM's getting ready for STS and a little yoga. And today I just finished doing Step Blast. I just LOVE Cathe's step!! Man, she can make you sweat!!

Pippadog1: Welcome! Great to see some UK Cathe fans! Great choice with Step Blast tomorrow. Good luck with your root canal, I'm glad it's you and not me!:p I also drink alot of milk, that's my beverage of choice for every meal and for me I have no problems with it and I drink 2%. It's filling and for me a better choice than drinking juice as that will give me yeast infections and water doesn't fill me and will make me have to eat more. And I find most soy drinks are sweetened and will give me yeast infections too. There are VERY few on the market in Canada anyway that are unsweetened. So I'm very happy with my milk.:D

Shoegal: Welcome! You really do love shoes, BCBG pumps, nice!!:D

Laura: Hope your daughter gets better soon!

Janiejoey: Glad you and hubby are enjoying STS! Enjoy your Step Blast tomorrow. I just did it and loved it!

Good night All!

Hello Ladies,
Just got done watching OC Housewives, yes I confess, I am addicted. Seventeen and a half year old son walks by, watches for about 2 minutes and says to me "Ugh, they look like aging bratz dolls, and they all have ridiculous boob jobs." I was humiliated. Worse part was having two glasses of wine and homemade biscotti :(

Laura: how awesome that you teach pilates. You must be in fabulous shape. I had a stott pilates machine that I foolishly sold :( oh how I regret it. Now I am currently as flexible as a pretzel.

Well today was Chalene extreme again. Don't know if I will stick with it as I have trouble doing multiple exercises simultaneously like sumo squats with overhead tricep extensions. I find that I cant focus as well, maintain perfect form or lift has heavy when working upper and lower body together. Does anyone have this issue or is it just that I have let myself go for so long? I will try to hang in there!

Good Night.

Wednesday Check in

Today I am wearing a pair of Aldo beige heels - go with everything and are extremely pointy. So poiny that I stuffed the toes with tissue to keep them that way. Glad there are others who enjoy the shoes. ;)

Checking in on the exercise front at a low point I'm sorry to say. Yesterday my DH dragged me, rather unwillingly, to the car dealership to buy a truck and I didn't get back until 10 or so - started to do "Scrambled Eggs" premix from Body Max 2 but stopped 12 minutes in due to lack of energy. Had not eaten dinner - had to stop. Angry about it too. I don't like anything interferring with my workouts - I don't know about the rest of you but I'm constantly analyzing when I will work out - especially if something gets in the way. So I don't like anything getting in the way - it is not a good thing - prevents me from fully enjoying some evenings out because I'm all worried about it.:(

One other thing - Everyone is always talking about DOMS - I rarely get sore and sometimes I can feel that I was working out hard. I just figure that I'm at a point now that this doesn't happen too often. But you all make me wonder if maybe I'm just a wimp.

Janie - Hope you really enjoy STS and I'm all super impressed that Joey will actually do this with you. You have to love him for it. I'd love for my DH to join me - it would be super motivating and I think a good source of amusement. :D

Booboo - I love the Housewives - I especially loved the Housewives of Atlanta - OMG - they are like women from another planet!!! The cleavage!!! I just watch with my jaw dropped open all the time. I'm glad someone out there is drinking the wine too - at least I'm not the only one. Save a biscotti for me too!!!

Tracy - You really did have a lousy week. Keep your chin up - things will get better.

Laura - I had been a fitness instructor for a number of years - It is hard when students openly express opinions espeically during class - it goes with the territory. You just have to do what you think is best and not worry about it. There is always going to be someone out there not completely satisfied no matter what.

Hello to everyone - hope you have a great day.

Listened to my body today and it was saying: STRETCH please. So, I took a break from my cross train express routines which are my focus for the week and did total body stretching (all 3 routines). It really does help to work out all the muscles when they feel a bit overtaxed.

Laura: It's been a while since I paid to go to an exercise class, but I think people feel like complaining is part of what they get to do for the money they've paid for the class. So, my inclination is let em whine, but keep on pushing them too.

Shoegal: I love shoes but my real weakness is bathing suits. I couldn't tell you how many bathing suits I have, but I know I currently have 2 drawers filled with swimmers, plus one partial drawer, and another 2 boxes (you know those nice boxes that the reams of paper come in). Anyway, that's my weakness, although some need to go because I'm not crazy about the styles anymore.

I had a really neat thing happen this morning at work: my phone rang, I answered it and I hear a man introducing himself as General O'Donnell (Marine Corps, 1-star, brigadier general). First time in 20 years of working with the Navy and Marine Corps that I've had a general call me direct. At first, I thought someone was pulling me leg, but I managed to recover. He found about some work I'm doing on Reserve personnel management issues and wants to meet to discuss. Very cool.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Good Morning,

Shorgal, Welcome Aboard! Read through the many posts and missed a whole page somehow, so I didn't see you until today. I'm sorry about that. I want to always embrace newcomers and leave no one out. Hey, HSC is so hard for me. Good going for doing that workout. I'm impressed. I also started off with the firm. Still use them after being sick or if my level of energy is down. Have to admit that Cathe is by far (for me) the most challenging. Being on a forum is a little overwhelming, but it's doable. You will experience group efforts, knowledge, kindness...and most importantly, support. You remind me of Sex in the city. The lead that just loves shoes. She was so cute about her shoes. I don't like anything getting in the way of my exercises as well. Just makes the whole day blah. With workouts you are doing you are not a wimp. When I start a new exercise program, I always get DOMS the first week, then they fade away and don't get any until I start yet another program. Just me and the way my body works. I love it when My hubby exercise with me?

Laura, Sorry about you not sleeping well. I hope everything will be solved soon, so you can sleep. Love STS! Joey and I did the 1st disk yesterday. WOW! It was great. Right now, I'm eating "The Eat-Clean Dite" by Tosca Reno. It's working out rather well for me.

Michelle, Step & Interval is a great workout. Yes, I agree with you about doing push ups first than later in the program. I think stretching is key for me, since I'm 57. Need all the help I can get. A General Calling you is not an ever day occurrence. And wants to meet with you to discuss work? Please, do tell us how it goes.

Booboo, You watch what you want! Gosh Darn It! You have the right. You are doing a great job on your workouts. When I'm feeling that I just can't go on anymore, then you are giving your best. That's all anyone can do. I belive you are doing a great job. Working out is suppose to be hard.

Twinkletoes, I did Step Blast too, and was so sweaty I looked in the mirror and didn't even recognize myself. Wet hair, red face. It was a great workout.

I'm going into my hot tub now (outside in the fresh air). Love this part of the day.

Hi All

Well I had my root canal done and I've got to go back next week to get the rest done. Great. I did Stpe Blast when I got back which was a bit dodgy with a swollen face lol. But it kept my mind off it.

Oh Janie how lovely having and outside tub. That must be pure heaven to lie out on a warm night looking up at the stars with a glass of vino. Oh well I can dream lol.

Twinkletoes reading your post about milk has persuaded me its not too bad. Although I didn't need much of an excuse.

Tomorrow is Gym styles Back. Biceps and Shoulders. I quite like that one. My new weighted vest arrived today. I bought it off ebay £70 (about $90). It carries 20kg at the most and is quite comfortable. So now I have everything ready for when STS arrives. I just hope it gets here soon. I even questioned the postman today to ask him how long he thought it would take. He reckoned 10-14 days, but I think it will be a bit longer. Oh well.

Have great days ladies and see you all tomorrow.

Love
Laura

Buenos Dias Senoritas,
I have mexican food on my mind, can ya tell?

Janiejoey, first you taunt me with getting your sts, which by the way I have not received, and now your fabulous outdoor hot tub! How delicious it must be under the stars with your Joey (I have a Joey also) and a glass of wine.

Laura in the UK: If you have a moment, or if anyone else does, what is up with the weighted vest? should we have one in order to be able to do sts? What brand was the one you purchased on ebay and what do you think are the features one should look for? I myself would look for one that works with my stilettos :)

Michelle: stretching does sound wonderful when one is sore. The stretching w/o you did was from Cathe? which one was it? I have a rest day coming either tomorrow or the next. If it is Cathe I probably have it.

Well tonight we are meeting friends for drinks & food for happy hour. The appetizers at this place are all fairly unhealthy. I don't want to pull out a ziplock baggie full of celery & carrots either but what do I do? Cocktails are also high calories. Ugh not looking forward to this.

Have a great day ladies,
Booboo

PS
Shoegal: I will patiently wait for you to drop your name so that I may steal it :)

BooBoo39: the stretch workouts are on Cathe's Total Body Stretching dvd. There are 3 stretch routines, about 13 minutes in length each. When I do a stretch day, I've been doing all 3. I also have Cathe's Stretch Max dvd but have not tried it yet.

Hey Girls!

I am finally perfectly NORMAL!! No more mexican germy episodes in the bathroom!

Last night I did ME-lowerbody and then Step fit from Cardio hits.

Janie- LOL!! It must be my butt as well that is keeping me from doing to many push-ups from my toes as well! (I love it!;)) STS sounds awesome. That is great Joey is doing it with you! Keep us updated!

Shoegal- I am the same way about workouts. I PLAN PLAN PLAN. I plan my meals around w/o so I have the most energy when I workout. It also irritates me when my boyfriends springs somthing on me and I don't get to do my entire planed w/o or w/o at all. He's kinda learned now though;)!

Oh, Booboo! Just have fun tonight. Have a couple drinks and do 20 extra min of cardio tomarrow! (Easier said than done though, I know! Sometimes I dread those situations!)

UK Laura- Have fun with GS! I am doing a rotation with those right now and I'm loving it!

Michelle- Exciting about the call!

See you gals later... more like chat with you gals later!
