Lifting like girls

Tom, your mum must have seen and been through so much over 93 years - I bet she's an amazing woman. Mind you, she raised a son who is prepared to do 12 sets of strict presses. Nuff said! Hope alls well in Arkansas.

Lib, glad to hear you killed it today! Definitely get some food in the morning if that's when you workout. A snack / shake will make all the difference.

Lisa, I've such a cute image of you chasing your baby! How adorable.... And great cardio!

HTS again today - bench press ok, but I still can't get the bar to my chest at 50kg. That's my aim. There were some landmine rotations in there as well which killed my obliques. Then there was plenty of strange stuff with a KB. Split stance jerks and bottom up cleans - the sort of stuff I need to keep watching the YouTube clips for!

Hugs to all xx

Tom, shoulders are HARD to PR. You did great. I always figure your shoulders are as big as the Incredible Hulk's because you really give them a tough time in your workouts. You're a good son to your mom. 93 years is definitely a legacy. It's hard when loved ones can't remember who you are anymore. I hope you enjoy Arkansas and stay safe, in case you're in the way of all the nasty storms that seem to be hitting the Southern US.

Justine, what do you mean by bar to chest? Do you really want your bar to come down and touch your chest? That's wild ROM! I always figured that would be killer on the elbows and the shoulders, but I'm no powerlifter so what do I know? LOL on the weird stuff with KBs. I do that a lot too, "what the heck is that exercise?" then head over to You Tube to watch a random personal trainer's video.

Lib, don't shake in fear! X10 is very doable, especially when you do as it was intended, as short add-ons or short cardios for days when you have zero time. XTrain is just flat out fun. We scared you with AfterBurn, but no need to fear with these. Great work with Meso 3 week 3!

Karen, Roz, hey!

Roz, brace yourself on your pull-up tower because I did something crazy wild today. Pyramid Lower Body. It hit me that I'm always using PUB but never PLB. What's up with that? Then I remembered why....it moves dang fast. It's a great workout but hard to go heavy as I'd like because there's no time to change the weights! I do hit the pause button but I try not to be too long, otherwise the workout will take 90 minutes and this is NOT HTS. :) (Looking at you, Justine.) The first exercise in the floor segment is killer...glute/ham raises with one leg on the ball, one leg in the air. I liked it but it won't be a regular go-to like PUB. :)

Lol Lisa! I often wonder if HTS takes me so long because I'm so slow at the equipment changes!!

Tom, I've switched phones since I've last tried reaching the forum from a phone, so I'm no help.

Lisa, powerlifting supposedly requires a bar touch down for presses....and I at least like to get close. If only I had bigger boobs!!!!!

PLB always kills me.

Crossfire for me today - felt good (in a masochistic sorta way).

Lib, XTrain isn't too bad. Just don't start with tabatacise! Are you going to do one of the official rotations? I did the 90 day undulating, and loved it.

Hope everyone has a great weekend xx

Omg.......xtrain.....low impact......intense. Had to catch my breath several times but got through all of it. I wanted to not do a move several times (such as more mountain climbers.)...so caugh my breath, and looked at my stomach ....and knew if I want to get rid of that I have to do it all.

I know I will get stronger. I may not walk tomorrow though
But I am not doing STS legs today!

Justine, funny, I thought about doing one of those! Sooooo glad I didn't! I want good night to try the 90 day undiluted when I get back from Dallas. I am trying to get extra cardio in until then. .....starting to think I Might die a week into it!

Just kidding, just like with T25, I will see improvements, just have to stick with it. I am floored how far I have come since I met y'all back in December!

I don't have the app, Tom, my phone didn't like it and kept freezing.

Hi Liza, Roz, and Karen

Tom, I'm no help. I don't have the forum app on my phone. I use my computer like the dinosaur that I am.

Justine, is THAT why so many fitness competitors have boob jobs, so they can cheat the chess presses?

Lib, the AOLIH is a good one, huh? I agree that Tabatacise is the hardest cardio on there. Love the boxing. You're doing great and YES you should celebrate how far you've come since Dec. Hope your friend can join us.

Today I did XTrain Burn Sets Bis and Tris. Felt really strong today. Am sore from PLB so will probably not be able to do Thursday's Live since it is a total body weights. I probably need something more cardio or metabolic tomorrow. We'll see.

TGIF to all my Commando friends!

I have been going over the Xtrain and ICE books in more detail today ( because I have a major test Wednesday, of course this is where I go!). I am starting to think I need to do an ICE rotation, or two before I look at Xtrain. Today, my lungs were in distress (I do have asthma, but rarely have issues since I stopped smoking), about two hours after the Xtrain workout, I had to hunt down my inhaler.

I hope she joins too, Lisa. What is PLB? I'm still trying to learn all the initials. I wish my internet was faster so I could try some of the live workouts. Enjoy them for us please!

Has anyone heard anything new about the workout Cathe's putting out this summer?

Justine, I must remember to not drink coffee while reading your posts! :):p

On a side note, I am having a hard time with finishing STS. Not really bored, but had missed so much time this mesocycle, and about to miss more. So, I almost want to just do some random stuff until after the trip to Dallas, and then start ICE right after the exam that week.

I think I'm fighting something again, my throat feels weird. If that *$&@ got me sick, I am not going to be happy. Why do people think they can cough without turning their heads? Or covering their mouths. This is the second time she's done this to me......next time I am going to stop the conversation and pull out a bottle of sanitizer and just slather myself in it......maybe that will make a point!

For curls today I used a bar..uh huh.. uh huh, my elbows, they have come so far..uh huh..uh huh.. While oh so light and done with ease..uh huh..uh huh..the fact was done left me pleased..peace out!! Ok no Grammys, but glad to use an ez curl bar again. I didn't load it at all, so it is only 25# oly bar, but couldn't do that a few weeks ago so HAPPY HERE! Also managed some light conc curls which I tried a few weeks ago and had to quit! Also did some light hammer curls, so all in all a good day considering! I kept the tri work light as well, but did long rep sets. I finished with some ab stuff, crunches x50 seated knee ins x30 and cable crunches x30. Justine, I hear you on squats..not a likable lift, but you are so much better than I am at them! That post was funny!! I needed some humOUR!!!

Hey, Commando Buddies!
Wow, sounds like everyone's doing great work-work out there in the world!

Lisa, you chase that baby! :D I know that workout well...
Actually, I've NEVER tried PLB because I anticipated the quick-change issue... my BB weights are just too annoying to change by little increments. SOMEDAY!!
And yeah, I also bench to my chest -- as Justine noted, that's 'regulation' ROM. But that's also why some powerlifters arch in the bench -- shortens the ROM to chest (alternative to a boob job).

Justine, I share your love/hate (some days, just hate) relationship with squats. The LOOOONG sets in the RP templates have a dread factor for me. But! I will say that, before starting these new templates, I hit a single (to parallel) at 235#, so I was really pleased with that. Long ways to go till I hit Karen's 235x5, but, so.
You're killing it with HTS! How's the cardio?

Lib, XTrain is tough but FUN! Can't wait till you try supercuts. Great work on Meso 3. Enjoy Dallas! :)

Karen, hi! I'm always impressed with all your KB work! Hope you're well.

Tom, great that you got to visit your mom. Your visit DOES make a difference, even if you can't SEE its impact.
And three cheers for your E-Z (but hard won) victory today!

OK, that's it for now... still enjoying these templates. Weight has gone back up to 140-141, but I chalk this up to 1) more carbs (heavier training) 2) a bit more food 3) VOLLLUUUUMMME! Probably a little muscle and fat gain in there, but in such a short time it can't be much. I'm OK with the gain, as I was feeling a bit on the low side of my bodyweight comfort zone...
I'LL BE BACK!!!
High fives,
Roz

Sunday Greetings Ironesses! (sp?) I have dental meetings in KC next Fri -Sunday, so I moved things up a day and did chest today. I did 10 sets of flat bench to lead off, going to 205 x2 (more like a floor press on these..others deeper) dropping to a triple at 175, then 155# x8x7x6, Next, incline bench, 145# x8x6x6 then back to flat bench 135# x12x10. For abs was 3 minutes of planks, followed by 1x30 cable crunches and finished the day with wide pushups 1x25. Hope all is well on this Sunday for everyone, and hope the weekend was great and safe!

I like squats again today (Roz is right love/hate). Yesterday was 4x15 front squats. Today 5x3 front squats. I'm much happier with the low reps!

Tom, glad you can EZ bar curl again. Just don't overdo it, ok? 205 bench is impressive. Like 4x my bench!!!!!

Roz- awesome squatting. Do you think RP has helped? I bought the templates today ($20 off), so that I'll have no excuses when I tire of doing the maths. Weight wise, 140 is about right for me too. Although I'm on a cut, my weight has hardly moved, but I look different, so I'll keep going. I reckon it's more workout carbs than I'm used to, so perhaps more water weight???? Although it's lower carbs on light days than I usually have.....idk.

Lib, I hope you don't come down with anything. And if you don't finish up STS, it doesn't matter. You must do what you enjoy (I must do what I enjoy + high rep squats).

Karen- killing it as always?

Lisa- have you caught your little monster yet?

Tom, hope your mum was ok.

Well, another week over.....

Hey Commandos!! Nice to read all your posts. I can see you are all actively engaged in killing it. I'm still on Phase 3 of Kettlebell Burn. The only weekly change: swing finishers. Last week was 20 seconds on, 10 seconds off. This week is 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off. Next week, 40 seconds on, 20 seconds off. Week 4, no finishers. The program is becoming brutal, and my ADHD is starting to kick in. I have 6 more weeks, and I will finish this program, I'm just getting antsy to move on. I have been traveling a little, but it has tapered off a little. Dallas, and Sante Fe. I lived in Dallas for a couple of years, It's fun to go back, and see how it has changed.
Lib, the last time I did STS, I hate to admit it, but I didn't do Meso 3. No slam here on Cathe, and no offense to anyone, but I don't enjoy Meso 3. It moves too slow for me, too much time resting. So the work is over an hour, I just don't want to spend that much time standing around. So, do what you like, and like what you do!
Justine! How much longer on HTS? Have you enjoyed it? Do you recommend it? Whenever I read your posts, I'm impressed with your front squat.(all your squating, really) I have read RP, and I'm dying to get started. Just waiting for my schedule to settle down. Justine, Roz, do you recommend the templates?
Tom, your weights are very impressive. You're making it work, and killing it at the same time. Nice work!
Lisa, I was looking at Cathe Live. I was going to start with the first Live, and work my way through all of them. Are they still in chronological order? Looks like she has changed the whole format. Do you have a favorite? Maybe I will start there. Keep chasing the baby, I remember those days all too well. Sometimes, I even miss it. What's worse, I sometimes miss changing diapers. (do you think it's dementia?)
Roz, what can I say? You have got it all going on! Like I mentioned before, I'm chomping at the bit to get into RP. Keep up the great work!! You're a STAR!
Well everybody, what can I say? You are all my inspiration. Thanks for the butt kick!

Just finished To The Max - felt tough on my tired old quads!

Briefly, Karen (I'll think a bit more about your questions and may have more to add later), but HTS has helped me in so many ways. Not necessarily getting me PRs (although there have been a couple), but generally making me better/stronger/less prone to damage. I guess that's the high tensile part of the name! I've 6 weeks to go, and have no (well, very little) dread. And no adhd. It changes frequently, and I can always sub in a bodyweight week, if I'm bored. Some workouts take time, however (although I don't rush, and my set up could be more efficient).

As to RP templates vs book.....I've started the templates today ($20 off, couldn't resist). It's slightly altered my meal timings, but otherwise very similar. I was happy doing the maths from the book, and cooking up a storm, but the templates will simplify things when I'm busy (or more accurately can't be bothered). I've made my own list of macros in the foods I eat most often. I know I'll be going 'off template' frequently. Because, cheese.

If you use Facebook, it's worth joining the rpclients group. If only to giggle at the ocd / confused comments of some people, but really to be amazed by some before/after pictures. There are some rockin' abs ....

Anyway, good to hear from you x

Good Morning Friends! Lat day here, and started with barbell rows, 115x10, 165x10, 185 2x8, 135x15. Next were lat pulldowns and I raised these 10# to 120(this is the most I have ever used on these) and did 5x8. Then dumbbell rows 3x10 using 85, and I finished with 1x12 lat pulldown dropping to 110#. Roz, 235# on a parallel squat is awesome!! The hard work is worth it! Karen, I don't think its dementia, I just think you forgot what they smell like!! Just kidding, I did my share and kinda miss it too! Great work on the bells, really admire your grit!! Wish you could bottle it and send me some! Lib, hope you are feeling better! Lisa, I think a boob job might help my bench too, I try to "stick it up there" but a couple more inches would help!! Justine, I'm glad your're back to the love part of squats...hi rep squats really suck..hi rep ANYTHING, but especially squats! Always an inspiration Ladies, keep up the great work!!!
