Lifting like girls

Another shoulder day here, started off tired, but I am really encouraged on shoulders and chest. Today I worked up to 120# on strictpress, but I did 2 doubles and a single. Just a month or two ago, this was my grinder, ugly, I rep max! I finished these with 3 sets at 105# x4. Side laterals and rear delt flys I went strict and light 3x12 each, 1 sets of heavy dumbbell shrugs x30 and 1x10 dumbbell press with 50s. I feel really good about gains on chest and shoulders, but limited on back and arms....and then there's LEGS! I did increase weight on squats, but I know they wont pass the form test! Karen, you are killing the bells! Those sound brutal! If we were choosing up sides, I'd take you on my team, don't care which sport!! Lib, big congrats on your strength gains...makes this really fun doesn't it? Justine, terrific on reps at a weight you couldn't get to parallel at before ( congrats on ANYTHING to parallel!) Lisa, I NEVER know any of the stuff you do, but nothing but admiration for your cardio capacity and ability to do it!!! Have a great day Sistas!!

Wow, each of you amaze me. You also help me to strive for more.

I have legs today. It's weird because I have only three leg workouts left in this whole series.....I remember day one.....I was dying to get through.

Question. My neighbor asked me to do PIYO (Chalene Johnson) with her, today is also scheduled for "lower body." Should I swap for core? Or another one? I am also wondering if lower body might also help stretch it out some..? Maybe I should skip PIYO today? I don't want to over do my legs.....has anyone seen the PIYO commercials or done it? It's a combo of Pilates and yoga, she moves constantly, so never really holding a pose. Not sure how long I will do this, the constant chatter drives me nuts, but needed until I get the moves down.....

I bought PiYo. Loved it for a while. But, I grew tired of it. Now it just sits on the shelf. All the workouts seemed to be the same. Only a couple were challenging. I may give Sweat and Drench another shot at some point. Just not right now. Some people love PiYo. It may be just me. I feel bad, because I recommended it. I know some bought it on my recommendation.

I think that's where I will be soon. Fortunately my neighbor is taking about buying it from me. If her husband agrees, I will.

My son informed me this morning that my forearms "don't look like sticks anymore." Then he explained, "sticks are smaller than twigs, so that's a good thing!"

Plyo part of legs kicked me today. My lungs are still not great. All those years of smoking really hurt me. Plus now I'm either fighting allergies or a cold. But I made it through... I did have to rest a chance upon of times though, and did high knee running instead of the burpees...

Then I downed four eggs. I keep getting on egg cravings after leg day......not sure what that is about.

On a personal note.......I am going crazy......for the last two days all I HAD to do was two classes, and one reflection paper.......today, I don't have to do anything.....I will study, but....I feel like the world froze.......? And e weather stinks so no riding today.....:( hoping for tomorrow!!

Tom, you just keep on impressing. Great work.
Lib, I'm not a fan of piyo. I did it for a while (2weeks!). I've given the DVDs to a friend. It's nothing compared to plyo legs!!!!!
I like your idea of adding cardio in to STS. I've not done ice, though, so can't help with selection.

Thought of you today, Karen, as I had to get my KBs out. Clean and presses. 20 each side for 3 sets. 12kg. Cardiooooo.
Crapped out on my deadlifts, though. Went backwards from last week. Oh well.

I've a house full for Easter. Daughter, stepson, parents and a couple of friends. Chaos. I'll try to get a workout or two in, though.....

Enjoy your chocolate eggs, everyone. X

Oh yes, Lisa. I remember Step Heat. I have it on video tape. How old am I? Ouch!

Karen, this doesn't make you old. It makes you fortunate that you were able to find Cathe before she was so well-known to the rest of us. Lucky you! :) Good work on your KBs! Any thoughts about more HoCo in the Spring? Or adding running? Still undecided about what's next?

Lib, your house must be sparkling right now! I'm pretty good at cleaning, but I flat out refuse to clean a bathroom. I make my DH do all that! I didn't realize you owned PiYo. Hey, you got through legs today. That's great! Probably craving eggs for the protein!

Justine, sounds like you got a good metabolic burn. Enjoy your Easter guests and festivities!

Tom, Roz...HI!

I did RWH Chest Shoulders Triceps. I was feeling this one for sure!

I'm with Justine, XTrain. Love that series, lots of variety.
I haven't posted my Wednesday workout. Sooooo it was workout B of Phase 3 Kettlebell Burn
Strength - Contralateral Single Leg DL
Ladders 1,2,3,left and right for 15 minutes 24kg bell
Metabolic Pairings
Clean and Press and Front Squats for 15 minutes:
B1 Clean & Press 3-5 reps
B2 Front squat with same bell 3-5 reps
Perform both exercises on the left side, then perform on right side. Started with 20kg. then dropped to 16kg.
Finisher for 10 minutes:
One handed swing - 20 seconds on 10 seconds off. Started with 24kg, then dropped to 20kg.
This program becomes more difficult with every phase. When I finish, I'm sucking wind. Today will be workout A. I'm beginning to think that three days a week, is all I can do at this point. Need those extra days to recover.
Hope you are all well, and kicking it. Have a great weekend with your visitors, Justine.
Have a great weekend, all!
Will post my Friday workout, later.

Lib, I agree with Karen and Justine. XTrain all the way. I hate to admit it, but a good amount of the RWH workouts have a dread factor for me. I think it is going to go down in my personal record books as the least used of all of Cathe's series. Also agreed that X10 is a good add-on for weight workouts. There are premixes that combine the various X10 workouts so you could get a "full" cardio workout if you wanted.

Tom, you crack me up! I never know what I do either most of the time! I just roll with it!

Whoa, Karen, that must be an intense program if 3 days is all a warrior like you needs. You are doing amazing!

Justine, hope you're still enjoying your Easter guests and activities.

Today I did Rock It Sock It Live (12/31/15). This is a go-to for me when I want UB cardio boxing with my gloves + hi/lo cardio. Tomorrow is most likely going to be PHAT 2 Live from yesterday.

Have a wonderful Easter weekend everyone! I will be back on Monday. Lots to do this weekend. Hugs to all my Commando friends!

Hi everyone!!!
Woah, it has been forever since I've logged on... seriously vacation was great but crazy and I seriously have just been goinggoinggoing in the most intense way since (like Lib on her preworkout formula! ;) ).
I only have a few minutes now but I didn't want to wait another day to say hi!
Great job, everyone!!
I will be back with more soon... but I did spring for the new RP women's physique training templates... 6x week... JUST started them and loving it so far. I was getting bored with the powerlifting training. Plus us gals can handle more volume so I always found myself adjusting my programs to add more volume. (Justine, did you get it?)
Ummm.... OK I really do have to run now, but HI! and sorry to be so brief and I will be back soon...
HAPPY EASTER!
Roz

Hey Roz. Good to hear from you. Glad you had a great vacation- where did you go? Yes, I got the physique templates- 4 days per week. I'm currently doing 4 days in every 6 with HTS, so I thought I'd stick to that. Also, I think 4 days has upper / lower splits rather than single body part splits......not sure? Anyway, I'll start in 2 months.

Karen, that KB stuff really does sound exhausting. 24kg bells are no joke. Are you doing other stuff as well, or 'just' the KB?

Lisa- I love hearing which workouts you've done. It inspires me when I need to choose a cardio. And I agree with your thoughts on rwh. There are a couple of workouts in there that I have to talk myself into doing!!!

Lib, great buying! Let us know what you think. Cardio leg blast is a fun version of plyo legs. A great workout.

Tom - what PRs are you going to set for Easter? Put all that chocolate to work?

HTS month 5 is going to be a killer. I'm 2 workouts in, and I can just tell I'll be begging for the month to end.

Hey Iron Chicks! Yesterday I did nothing! Don't remember going to Mexico and drinking the water, but must have! I tried to do arm day today, but boy, bod wouldn't have it, not even ultra light. Instead I did some stretching, pushups, and other floor work. I am sooooo stiff! I can't touch my ankles when sitting on floor with legs extended, not even close!! Needs work, but I never was flexible! Roz, good to hear from! Karen, c&p's with 20s is strong, and 1 arm swings with 24's...wow, that program is working! Lib, good luck on xtrain, I hear good things about it. Justine. my only pr...well maybe " John sprints" but not bragging bout that one!! Lisa, I may have to venture into your " cardio world" in some form, but then again.......well maybe?? Great weekend to all!!

I have a couple moments so wanted to say Happy Easter night to my Commando friends!

Roz, HI HI HI! Did I mention HI?! :) You know me, I'm a lover of volume lifting and my volume (SS) cardio. Looking forward to whatever you have to say about RP whenever you have time to say it!

Justine, I only ever do "some" of X10 too. I long ago vowed to never do X77. Welcome to month 5 of HTS!!!

Lib, great purchases, you won't regret them. You've also set yourself up nicely to do the XTrain/ICE hybrid rotation at some point in the future. Agree with Justine, XTrain Cardio Leg Blast is an all time favorite (almost typed "favourite" to be even more like Justine and her British ways). :)

Tom, oy, what's up with that yucky stuff? Hope you're feeling better. I might've told you this before, but my DH is so NOT flexible, sounds a lot like you. Poor guy works at it but I think some people were meant to be rubberbands (like Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins) and other people are just stiff (like the Frankenstein movie character). At least we can say that you aren't as stiff as Frankenstein. That's good, right? ;)

Karen, good thing you're a firefighter and know how to handle those flaming posterior chain DOMS! Sheesh, I can only imagine how intense that program is if it's giving you a run for your money.

Rest day today. Saturday was PHAT 2 Live. Adore! Love! Can't wait to do again!

See you all later.

Morning Commandos! Well, my lousy food intake showed this AM...definitely weaker! Stuff felt heavier! I worked up to respectable for me, but fewer reps and lighter weight coming down. Last week I did about the same reps at 10# more than this week on the way down the pyramid. I did 195# x2, but 205# was really short cause I knew it wasn't coming back up!! Then 175x6x5 and 155x8. For incline was 135 3x8 (last week was 145 3x8 I think, then 135 x9x7..Oh well, it is what it is!) I finished chest with 1 set of pushups x20, and then, for abs, did cable crunches 2 x 25. Still, this would have sounded great a few weeks ago, so not too disappointed. Hope all my Sistas have a wonderful week!

Lisa, please come and join the extraneous vowel club. It runs a comprehensive programme for helping to use up the coloured ink cartridges on your pc, and explaining how worlds are spelt. I can send you a catalogue. It'll change your spelling behaviour for life, once you've learnt how it works. There's a referal policy, so bring a neighbour! It's not dull, there's plenty of humour in the material. You even get lunch. Courgettes cut into spirals (but not spiralized zucchini), with yoghurt dressing and a Caesar salad. Or an omelette if you'd prefer. Afternoon snacks include chamomile tea and doughnuts.
You can pay by cheque, and an acknowledgement will be sent out, the cheque will be cancelled if you choose not to attend.
