Lifting like girls

Just finished my workout, and had to stay on the floor for 15 minutes to recover.
Oh Tom, I don't envy you, with your mechanic day. I'm with Lisa, all-day dread on your behalf. The car mechanic is never good news.
Lisa, tell me about this Fitness Blender. I see people talking about it all the time. I need to discover this.
And a Happy Father's Day to you Tom, and to your DH, Lisa. Have a great week-end!

Today was a total body thing, starting with a circuit of : pullups x 8/ BB military press (100#) x10/ deadlifts (205#) x8/ pushups x 20 and did the circuit 3 times. Next were 3x20 cable crunches and 3x25 bodyweight squats and 3x25 single calf raises. It was "Daddy day doable", but I still get tired..just getting old I guess! Karen, NOTHING you do sounds easy, even on paper, and Lisa, don't know how you get them in, but you do..great work! Thank you both for the Fathers Day wishes. Hope your DH's have a great one as well...I do know they are lucky guys!!

Chest and tris today and lots of bench sets. 16 sets of bench, short sets on the way up and long sets coming down. 115x5 135x5 155x5 175x3 195x3 205x2 195x3 THEN 175x6x6x6 155 x8x8x8 and 135 x10x10x10. Nothing was real heavy but sheer volume coming down really worked me! I did 6 sets of tris, 3x8 skullcrushers and 3x8 pushdowns. The tris were already pretty pooped but this finished them off! I definitely feel weaker on the bench, but I am weighing in the low 180s so maybe it's ok. When I was at the lake over Memorial day I was talking to my nephew's 9 year old daughter and she grabbed my arm and said "wow. your muscle is really big. why is your wrist so small"? It dawned on me that maybe I'm just not a big guy!! My kids bone structure is much bigger than mine..oh well, the wisdom of children! Survive your Monday friends!

Today was back and bi day and back was giant set drop sets..I think? Back was chins/ pullovers/1 arm cable pulls (sitting at a 90 degree angle to the cable and pulling elbow to ribs) chins were x 10 9 8 5 pullovers x 12 11 10 5 cable pulls x 10 9 8 5 and I gotta say this w/o seemed really effective because my back was fried! For bi's, I did ez bar curls x10 9 8 and DB curls x10 9 8, The bi's really were hit hard because every set except pullovers were bi exercises so 14 sets were bi intensive ugh! The next 3 days are early days so I hope I show on all...we will see! Carry on friends!

Yesterday was a Fitness Blender Lower Body strength training routine. It was hard because I went heavy and it was Monday, lol! Today was XTrain Burn Sets Chest, Back, Shoulders.

Karen, your cleaning workout sounded like a military punishment! Did you have to peel potatoes, too? To answer your question, "Fitness Blender" is a husband/wife personal training duo on YouTube. Their channel is completely free, all of their workouts are completely free. They do sell programs, but those are just rotations of their free workout videos + nutrition from a registered dietitian. Their "for sale" programs are super cheap--like $15. I'm tempted to buy one but I've enjoyed doing my own hodge podge blend of their workouts. I know you are a music lover during workouts, so you WILL have to provide your own music. They just coach through the workout. It sounds awful, but they have very easygoing, non-obnovious mannerisms. The other thing is that the videos are filmed in front of a white wall and white floor (I think in their garage?), so it's not much to look at. Hence, FREE! I like their stuff because it's a good workout without killing you. I know Cathe has a "Workout Blender" where you can blend / mix /match different segments from her different workout DVDs. People on here talk about that, but obviously that's totally different.

Tom, I hope you at least have a fully functioning, repaired CAR to get you to and from your early work days!!! The fact that you posted tells us that Saturday / all-day-at-the-mechanic didn't kill you! Question for you: do you have a bowflex or soloflex or whatever those things are called for all of your cable and pull down, etc, work? OR do you have a machine with stackable plates?

Today was my Monday workout. I like this program because you are working your abs with almost every exercise. You don't realize it until the next day, when it hurts to laugh.
Lisa, thanks for the info on "Fitness Blender." Looks like something I need to try. This program is only four days a week, so I have at least one day to fill. This may just be "it!"
Tom, I also hope that your day with the car mechanic was not a disaster.
My neighbors went camping this week. I appreciate that! While I love my neighbor. She likes to hang over the fence, or show up at the back door for coffee, early in the morning. Drinking coffee all morning, is not my idea of a good time. Like I said, I love her to death, and I would never intentionally insult her, but I'm glad she's camping. Sometimes, you just have to get things done, right?
Tomorrow is workout 2. Talk tomorrow!

Half a$$ed leg day, water in front of my db rack and wet feet not good on my floor for leg day so I just used the dry middle and did 5 sets of bench squats 115x8 135x8 155x8 175x8 and 195x5, then 3x20 kb gob squats and BB standing calf raises x30x20x20 and that was it..pathetic but done!
Lisa, my squat/ bench rack has a 2 pulley deal (1 high and 1 low) and you can put oly weights on and it slides up and down a column. I use it for pushdowns, lat pulls, ab crunches and the 1 arm cable pulls.
My car day was was too long a story to tell, but involved uber, a casino and way too high a bill, but the bill thing is pretty much the norm..right??
Karen, I can understand the glee about the neighbors camping trip. sometimes you just need a break! Keep it up ladies..you inspire!

Today was leg day for me, too! I opted for body weight work. Did a Fitness Blender and Shelly Dose combo of workouts. Then a loooong stretch afterwards.

Karen, only Gladys Kravitz has time for four hour morning coffee talk! I love me some coffee, but really? I'm with you. Yet another example of our sister from another mister brains! Do you have any plans to visit your DH in Puerto Rico? Hope his work is going well. I don't want you to give too much personal info over the public Internet, but is he going to be there for a long long long time? The number of "longs" you use in your answer will be our secret code. :)

Tom, have you been hit by those storms and tornadoes I've seen on the news, hence your basement flood? At least you showed up on leg day. That's something! Sounds like you managed to pass the time just fine, thank you very much, during your marathon car repair visit on Saturday! Hopefully your casino winnings balanced out the expensive car bill!

Shoulder day, 23 sets so high volume, but pathetic strength wise, so punishment comes from volume. 10 sets of strict press, 45x10 65x8 85x5 105x5 115x2 (that sucks!) 105x5 then I was pi$$ed off so did 85 x12x10x10x8. Next were 3x8 side laterals(30s) 3x12 bent over rear delt flys (40s) alternate db front raise x8x10x10 (30s) and db shrugs x30x25x20 (90s) and finished with seated db shoulder press x19F (40s). I did some abs, 2 sets of cable crunches and 2 sets of running knee to chest in plank position and a 1 min side plank.
Lisa, my water came during a drought..hadn't rained FOREVER! I think its a spring, because it always happens during really dry times? No casino winnings, $1700 bill for 100,00 mile check up. They replace the water pump (even though nothing is wrong with it? I have a 120000 warranty but it is NOT covered because it is not broken......wth! A shuttle took me to the casino, but when I called to get a ride back, the whole dealership (except the receptionist) seemed to disappear!! Finally uber showed up but I got a cancellation fee for THEM sending a driver to the wrong town...holy sh!t. I had a little talk with my service rep on the way back as he explained to me that I needed a $200 tensioner, and I explained to him that I didn't think MY UBER RIDE WAS A GOOD IDEA!! The dealership ended up deducting that from the bill, but I got stuck for the water pump and tensioner, and that's a Honda dealership, glad I don't drive a Mercedes! Nuff complaining, they have always been good and I have bought 3 cars from them, but this was the first time I was tested lol!`
Karen, you may have to enter a "gut punching" contest, sounds like you will be ready! Keep it rolling friends!

Tom, complain all you want! What a day, geez! Glad Honda at least covered the UBER. I've never done the UBER thing but why on earth is it your financial responsibility to cover the driver who can't follow GPS? At least it's all over. I agree that Hondas are great cars. It's the only make of car we drive.

Today was going to be biceps and triceps but mysteriously ended up being cardio??? I don't know. I just put in Cathe's Body Max 2 DVD and went to town on the cardio premix. Lol!

Have a great Thursday!

Today was a Virtual Cycle Ride, "Windmills & Waterways" of The Netherlands. It's been a while since I've been on the bike. Something I need to do more often. Ouch!
Lisa, I do that more often than not. Think it's going to be a lifting day, and bam, it's cardio. I figure it's all good.
Tom, I'm glad your auto debacle is over! Our cars can be the biggest PITA. Nothing worse than a car you can't depend on. Then take it to the shop, and smacked up side the head with a giant repair bill.
DH may be in Puerto Rico a long, long time. But, things could change. That's about it! Later!

Arm day, 20 sets and 18 were super set drop sets. started with skullcrushers x18 15 12/ db curls x15 12 11 (45s for both) pushdowns x10 9 8/ ez bar curls (90) x 10 9 8 inclined tri ext x 15 12 10 / declined curls x10 9 8 (dropped to 35s for both of these) and finished with a burnout set of kickbacks x 25 and conc curls x 15 (35s for both sets). Mission accomplished, arms fried and it feels good! Off to work, have a great Friday lifters!

Today was my Thursday workout, and some digging in the garden.
Evidently The camping week was shortened by a few days. They're baaack!
That's about it for now. I'm going to get the back yard mowed. Yuck! I may have to hire this out.
Tomorrow guys!

Karen, we've hired out mowing the lawn for the first time ever this summer. It is awesome and worth every penny. One day DS will get the job for personal development / lessons from manual labor. Anyway, Karen, treat yourself and pay someone else to do the mowing. My 2 cents. Dang, sorry neighbor Gladys is back. Maybe she missed you, lol!

Tom, wow. You torched your arms yesterday. I'm so impressed by concentration curls with 35s. I'm nowhere near that!

Yesterday was Metabolic Burn Live. Today was a short 10 min HiiT plus a 40 min Body Fit by Julia Complete UB Workout from YouTube . Dang, she was 34 weeks pregnant in the video and still crushing it!!! It was my first workout from her channel. I stay away from her stuff because most of it leaves you on the floor DEAD afterwards, and I just don't wanna workout to the point if collapsing. But thus UB workout was doable. I'll return to it again.

Have a great weekend!

Did a short, strange and varied w/o today. Bench 155x10, 175x8. Chins x12x10, deads 225x5 ( conv) 275x5 ( sumo) and for abs, cable crunches 2x25 and mountain climbers 2 x75 and that was it...short and sweet! Gonna try to do legs tomorrow and leg day will be Wed...AGAIN. Have a good weekend y'all!

Did a leg day, not a lot of sets but need to be able to do it gain Wed, or that's the plan! Started with bench squats 115x5 165x5 195x5 215x5 and a finishing set of db squats (65s) x8. Next were db rev lunges (35s) 2x8, gob squats (50 kb) 2x20 and kb swings (50) 2x20, Next, standing BB calf raises #215 2x25 and 1 leg unweighted calf raises 2x30 and finished with 1 set of seated db shoulder press (55s) x14. It took about 40 minutes, I need to find a way to hit shoulders more frequently since I feel it is a weak bodypart for me (one of many), and I think about doing a program like I did for bench but sub in shoulder press for bench....dunno, but it might work? I weighed in at a hulking #184 with shoes, shorts and t, no wonder I'm a weenie! If I just quit eating like a pig, the weight just falls off of me! I know that never sounds like a bad thing to you, my lifting lady comrades, but I want to live "thug life" (just kidding), and can't do that at 6'1" and 180 lol!!
Hope you both had a great weekend!

Chest and tri day with EPIC FAIL!! I did 14 sets of flat bench and 2 sets of inclined. decided I would do some short sets and try to go heavy using my shortest block, so did 115x8 135x8 155x3 175x3 195x1 205x1 and 215x1 (and it seemed pretty routine) so I tried 225.....NOT PRETTY! FAIL and I got stuck with the roll of shame and about pulled a hammie trying to get it off. I was humbled, but couldn't help but laugh out loud because this could have been a youtube moment or Saturday Night Live sketch! I took a bunch of the weight off, got it back on the rack and did 185x5x5x3 155x10x8x8 and 2 sets of inclined bench dropping to 135. I finished with 6 sets of tris, skullcrushers x10x9x8 and pushdowns x10x9x8, and gotta say that the tri stuff was harder than usual due to being "pre fried" by the chest stuff. This old guy is TOO OLD for these comedy routines and hope there aren't many more! All I got friends, hope you are doing well!

I bought a stretching DVD over a year ago. Tried it for the first time over the week-end. Very good. For the first time in a week, my hips didn't bother me when I was trying to sleep. It's called "Lastics," and I highly recommend. Think I will do at least some of it after every workout.
Today was my Monday workout. Still a challenge.
Tom, I would love to see you in a SNL skit, but not with a BB on your face. We all have those moments. There are no injuries, so it's all good. I remember a SNL skit, where a guy is trying a heavy DL, and he pulls his arms off. I know I sound like a weirdo, but it was pretty funny.
Yea Lisa, I think I need to hire a grass guy. The lawn is becoming a real pain. I'm ignoring "Gladys," but to be honest. I haven't seen her around. Oh well, just lying low right now.
Hope you are all well!

Pretty much a maintainence back and bi day. 3 sets of chins, pullovers, and 1 arm side cable pulls as well as 3 sets ez bar curls and db curls. Didn't push it because my right shoulder was really sore ( probably from my fail, but I did do 8 sets after that) and at least got some work in. Karen, I think I remember that SNL skit, it was hilarious! I never watch it anymore but if I do see a part of an episode. I NEVER laugh...just not funny to me anymore! Glad the " lastics" are helping and Gladys is awol!! Lisa, what's up attorney mom lifter lady??
