Lifting like girls

Tom, hang in there. As I remind myself, not every workout is going to be a gold medal winner. Plus your body was just demolished by sickness. You've got this! Cheering you on.

Karen, the metabolic lives are so good. Cathe has such a talent for putting those together. Love love love those 4DS premixes you've been doing. Seems like the new series is going to be similar in style to 4DS. Yay! Have you tried the coffee yet? Did you get the cold brew or the k cups?

I can't believe we've made it to Dec 1 without snow in my neck of the woods. I think we're due something soon, but I will take victories where they come. Bday week is wrapping up, but it's been great. Yesterday's workout was UB and today was a Fitness Blender YouTube leg workout. It literally kicked my butt

Hey guys, today was the lower body weights from 4 day split. Another good one.
Lisa, Hubby and I went to TJ's and bought the K cups. It was another winner. We will need to go back to check out the cold brew.
Hang in there, Tom! You have a couple of cheerleaders here.
That's about it! Unbelievably warm weather. The weather app is predicting snow for Monday and Tuesday. We shall see.
Have a great week-end.

Better shoulder day, 23 sets of damage! I was able to go 10# heavier for a single and added reps to some of the other sets. 10 sets of strict press, 1 burn out set of seated db press, 3 sets of 1 arm side laterals, rear felt flys, alternate front raises and db shrugs. You guys ALMOST make me want to see what the fuss is about on this coffee thang!!......ALMOST! Enjoy the weekend friends.

HOLY COW!!! Today was Bosu Total Body Fusion with Linda Wooldridge. Upper Body, only 23 minutes, but not a minute wasted. I bought this because I've had a Bosu for years, and it's been gathering a lot of dust. If the other workouts on this DVD are this good, it's definitely a winner. So far, highly recommended.
Nice work, Tom. Looks like you're getting your MOJO back! About the coffee thing. I didn't start drinking coffee until I was well into my 30's. My parents didn't drink it, and so it was not in our house. When people did offer me a taste, I thought it was the most vile drink on the planet. Working in Seattle on a cold rainy night, and someone brought me a Starbucks mocha. I was so cold and wet, I was freezing and I thought it was the greatest drink I had ever tasted. I still prefer coffee with chocolate in it, but don't need all the extra calories. So, I understand where you're coming from. It's definitely an acquired taste.
Lisa, how's the Birthday Week going? Have we hit the Birth Day yet? CELEBRATE BIG!!!
Have a great week-end Commando Friends!

Decided to do a light leg, dead and core day. For legs 3x8 bench squat, 2x12 gob squat. 2x12 sumo squat. 2x12 kb swings, 2x25 BB calf raises and 2x20 single calf raises, For deads I went light and did 2x8 conv and 2x8 sumo. I only used 205# for these but I really noticed pressure in my lower right ab area. I have noticed this on lunges only before and quit doing them. I have visions of my guts falling out and it makes me nervous !lol I only really noticed it on conv, not sumo, so may have to concentrate on sumo's. For abs I just did a set of crunches and a set of cable crunches. I wanted to keep leg day from making me so sore that I am not a "no show" on Wed...we will see if I am successful. It is supposed to be in the mid 60's today and I can handle a nice day in December! Hope all is well my coffee drinking friends!

Oh my, did another Linda Wooldridge Bosu workout: Glutes, and Inner and Outer Thighs. These have been really good for me, and I get some use out of my Bosu. Did it today, to make up for Tuesday.
Starting a new week! Make it work for you!

Took DW to the airport this morning so I had to hit it even earlier than usual. Chest and tri day and it was a little better, trending the right way at least! 9 sets of flat bench, 2 sets of db inclines, 2 sets of skullcrushers, 2 sets of pushdowns, and 2 sets of kickbacks. I went a bit heavier and longer on some sets so feel better about it! I'm doing this at a car dealership, waiting on my ride! It's almost 70 today but change is coming...unfortunately! Have a great Monday friends!

See, Tom? It's all coming back to you. You are in the groove again. Chuckled but also kinda wanted to throw up with the image of your guts spilling out during leg day. Please never ever go that heavy! It would be the ultimate "failure" set! Yep, my coffee story is almost identical to Karen's except for me, once I got to drink it for the first time as an adult (after THANKFULLY leaving my former religion which prohibited it), it was love at first taste. I adore it. But I have always thought it smelled yummy, even when I couldn't drink it. Alcohol, on the other hand, I am still trying to wrap my taste buds around...

Karen, bday week is over! The actual day was very fun. A fun lunch and Build A bear and a free Dutch Bros milkshake for the bday girl, plus presents and cake at night. Lol on needing to use that BOSU. I totally get it. You want...no, I mean NEED...these fitness toys and then you have to find workouts for them. You know what amazed me about those TJ'S k cups is how each kcup has a filter. I've not seen any others like that. And the aroma is much fresher smelling. So, are you getting snow today? Our mountains got dumped on yesterday but I am ok with that, as long as it stays in the mountains.

Let's see...my workouts...Fri was legs, Sat was UB, and today was legs again. I like doing legs 2x each week (somewhere Tom is gagging as he reads that). It is doable and not dread-able with some of the YouTube workouts I have found. Also gotta get a new DVD player for the home gym. It broke. I rarely do DVDS anymore with all the streaming but of course when DVD player gets broken, all I wanna do are DVD workouts!

Happy Monday!

Hey guys! Today was Strong & Sweaty, Ramped Up Upper Body. Great workout, perfect length.
Tom like I told ya, the MOJO is coming back! It won't be long until you're CRAVING three leg workouts a week.
Lisa, I had to laugh when you said you went to Build A Bear. A couple of years ago we took three of the Granddaughters to Build A Bear, $400 later, and Grandpa and I were wondering what the hell happened. That is one expensive place! One of the girls, wanted a zebra in a tutu, and full ballerina garb. We were dying laughing, but when the bill came, not so much. But, it was fun, and well worth the price to watch them dressing their animals. Such excitement.
That's about it, guys. It's getting cold here. YUCK!

Back and bi day, 3 sets of wide chins 3 sets of pullovers, 3sets of 1arm cable pulls (+5#) and a finishing set of db rows. For bi's, 2 sets of ez bar curls (+5#) 3 sets of db curls and 2 sets of conc curls. Karen, the week I do 3 leg days will be the week I open a Starbucks!! By the way, I knew there was a reason I wasnt invited to Build a bear with Dw and grandkids...now I know!!Lisa, there is still time to repent!!, coffee AND 2x/week leg day! lol! Best of Tuesdays to you friends!

Oh yeah, Karen they really gouge you at Build a Bear. We tried to keep it budget and it was STILL $100 for a Frozen Elsa Bear (bday girl, DD1) and an Anna Bear (DD2). DD1 loved every moment of it but DD2 started a nuclear meltdown when we told her that we were NOT buying the Build a Bear stroller toy. Plus she wants nothing to do with her Anna Bear...as in, she chucks it across the room to get it away from her! Oh well, at least the bday girl loves her Bear. But yes, Tom, stay away. Going to the Hallmark Store with your DW is as adventurous as you should get!

Great workouts everyone. Since my DVD player is still broken, went for Rock Em Sock Em Live. Another Live that I have done a gazillion times.

Tom, let me know when you open that Starbucks. I want to be at the grand opening! ;)

Tom, I will definitely need an invite, when you open that Starbucks!
Today was the Lower Body Premix from Strong & Sweaty Giant Sets. Another good one.
The high was 32 degrees, I am so not into this. At least it's not snowing. I'm thinking cruise right about now.
Totally uneventful day, thank goodness. So, we'll talk tomorrow!

Leg day and I made it. 3 sets of bench squats and as I got heavier it felt like something wanted out...so my last set was only 6 and I never got heavy. 3 sets of gob squats. sumo squats and 1 finishing set of kb swings. For calves, 3 sets of bb calf raises and 3 sets of single, unweighted calf raises and I finished with some planks. I had no gut issues with any of these except bench squats? It seems some lifts build more intra abdominal pressure. like deads, barbell squats and lunges....strange! Even though nothing was really heavy I could really feel it! I did longer sets and 3 sets of sumo's and gobs instead of 2 like last time...may pay for this. I'm down with the cruise Karen, weather stinks again here! Lisa, I cracked up over the build a bear meltdown...I can just see it!! Hump day friends, make the best of it!!

Hey all!
Tonight's workout was a Kettlebell workout I have had for ages. "Providence," with Anthony Diluglio. Another goody, that needs to be taken out and dusted off.
Hump day is over, and thank goodness for that. What a day.
No news here, (which is a good thing) so I will see you all tomorrow.

Tom, congrats on leg day!
Karen, you are getting very creative with your workouts lately. No one can accuse you of being in a rut! Yes, no news is good news. One of my friends has a saying when life is run of the mill: "same old $hit, just a different day." Not exactly a positive view point but the same old $hit is better than any new versions of it added to the pile, lol!

Today was Fitness Blender upper body + HiiT. Arms were burning!

Brace yourselves. My DH and I are going to a rock concert tomorrow night! I'm so excited. It's a bucket list event for me. I have been obsessed with this band for almost 20 years, before they were "cool." My big question is will I survive a late night out on the town! The concert is practically going to start at my bedtime.

Lisa, the last concert I remember was Linda Ronstadt....it was great!. In the 60's, I saw the Animals, Hermans Hermits and the Beachboys and the Mommas and the Papas, but I haven't been to one in years...have fun!! Today was shoulders and I tried to hit it hard. Nothing very heavy was happening so I tried to compensate with pretty good volume. 7 sets of strict press, 3 sets of seated db press, 3 sets of side laterals, rear delt flys, alternate front raises and heavy db shrugs. I have trouble making my shoulders sore...I'm pooped when done but seldom get any doms...dunno?? I'm hoping volume will help improve strength because it seems to have taken a hit...what will be will be! I have a meeting in KC Friday and a dinner tonight so will try to get an arm day in at their weight room. I know they did have dumbbells. heavy enough for arm work so that should work. Karen, so very glad that you had better longevity than Jimi!! Maybe if he had been a lifter he would have fared better! What a talent...too many have left the building too early! Have a great day friends!

Yeah, why do drugs and rock n roll go hand in hand? Karen, Jimi Hendrix?!? That's official bad ass status for you! So cool. Tom, lol that the dentist went to Linda Rondstat. She's got a great voice, don't get me wrong, but perfect for a dental waiting room, yes? Maybe not in prison, tho...ha! You could still see the Beach Boys in concert. I think they still tour.

Anyway, the concert was awesome! It was the Foo Fighters. My all time favorite band. I've gotta be honest, as cool as it was, it was loud and I am exhausted. I am such an old fart. So glad we went, totally worth it, but it reminded me why I don't get put more often!!!

My workouts: yesterday was Lower Body Boot Camp Live (leg day #2 for the week) and today was Get Stepping Live from Aug 2017. Finally got a DVD player for the workout room, but of course now that it's there I won't use it!!! :)

TGIF!
