Lifting like girls

First day back in almost 2 weeks and it wasn't pretty! Chest and tri's, 8 sets flat bench and never got heavy (but it FELT heavy), 2 sets of skullcrushers, 2 sets of pushdowns, 2 sets of kickbacks and, for abs, 2 sets of cable crunches. Lots of rest between sets and still it was certainly harder...maybe a lot mental, but definte physical change as well. I am going to have to ease back in and do the best I can because I am miserable not lifting! Hope all is well with y'all!
 
Welcome back, Tom. Sounds like you are listening to your body, even if it means making your Commando brain crazy with impatience! You'll be back in no time.

Saturday was Total Body weights and today was HiiT cardio and core. Wanted to do legs but just didn't have the necessary "oomph" this morning to go for it. Have a great start to your Thanksgiving week!

Back and bi, starting with chin ups and this was particularly ugly, 3x6 and that wasn't even easy...geeze, note to self, don't take 2 weeks off again....EVER! 3x10 pullovers and 2x8 1 arm cable pulls. For bi's, 2x8 ez bar curls, 2x8 DB curls and 2x8 decline curls. Only took 35 minutes, but I did put some effort into it. Hopefully gaining, at least I hope so....have a great Tuesday friends!
 
Yesterday my workout was a lower body workout from ICE. It was a good one. I like ICE. You can make it as easy or hard as you want.
Well, all my kids and their kids will be here for Thanksgiving. It’s gonna be a full house, so to speak. My daughters and daughters in law have volunteered for different parts of the meal. It’s gonna be a menagerie of food. It will be fun! Can’t wait to see the grandkids, and kids too. Later all!

In St Louis for Thanksgiving and I did hit son 1's PowerBooks for some upper body stuff, 2 sets of skullcrushers, 2 sets of db bench, 2 sets of pullups, 2 sets of db curls, 1 set of pushups, 1 set of wheelies, 1 set of stab ball curls, and a set of kickbacks. I feel really weak, hope it comes back! Hope my Commando friends had special Thanksgivings and got in some family time and great eating!
 
Today was shoulders,legs and abs, and it was probably too much, but I tried it anyway. 20 sets of shoulders, 15 sets of legs and 5 sets of abs. 8 sets of strict press, and I am really weak so I tried to make it up with volume. 1 set of seated db press, 3 sets of side laterals, 3 sets of rear delt flys, 3 sets of alternate front raise and 2 sets of db shrugs. For legs, 3 sets of bench squats, 2 sets of kb gob squats, 2 sets of sumo squats, 2 sets of kb swings, 3 sets of barbell calf raises, 3 sets of unweighted single calf raises, and for abs, 3 sets of cable crunches and 2 sets of seated knee ins. I think I will pay for this, 40 sets is a lot for me, and I looked back and it has been 3 weeks since my last leg day....gonna hurt...a lot! I was weak as a kitten on strict press and I hope I can get it back..time will tell. I am down about 5#, but I know it is muscle that is missing, not fat and that is depressing! Today is "leaf control" day or so DW says, so I guess my day is planned....ugh! Sometimes ya gotta "take one for the team"!! Have a great Sunday friends!

Only took about 40 minutes today, not a marathon like yesterday! I was able to bump the chin ups up a little. but they seem harder than they used to be for some reason, still a little weaker on everything I guess. Gotta keep working at it! Do Monday right friends!
 
Hi friends! Had a runny-nosed Thanksgiving, but still a good one. Got in my daily workouts so can't complain too much. Weather was exceptionally good, too! Warmer than normal. Got up the Christmas lights and the tree.

Today was leg day. Have a great start to your week!
 
Tonight was Muscle Max. Love this workout! Haven't done it for ages, and I'm wondering why! It's such a good one.

Karen, great minds think alike. I did Muscle Max on Saturday. This DVD was my gateway drug to Cathe and also "real" strength training. I gotta say that the leg work in this routine STILL slays me, after all these years.

Tom, how are you feeling? 100% yet?

Karen, what did you make? We're having a birthday "week" celebration for my DD1, so lots of sweets around here. Monday was a trip to See's candy, yesterday was ice cream, today will be mini cupcakes. I try to limit my portion sizes since too much makes me feel gross, but I do indulge a bit because I am trying to show my girls by example that you can eat treats in moderation, not freak out about it. My own Mommy Dearest is such a fat shamer...a minute on the lips forever on the hips...was her mantra. She would say that to me from age 3 and up, no joke, and I am by no means a heavy person! Not good at all, hence her own disordered eating. Anyway, that was an unintended rant. Just things I think about during the holidays.

Today was Metabolic Mash-up Live. This one makes me feel like a warrior. I have probably done it 6 or 7 times, which is a lot considering that there are probably 100+ Lives to choose from!

@desertambrosia , Karen I wanted to tell you that we just discovered Trader Joe's coffee offerings. SO good.
Specifically, the Columbian coffee Fair Trade Organic K Cups. Best. K cups. Ever. Like really fresh tasting.

Also, I know you make your own cold brew, but the limited edition Trader Joe's Coconut Cold Brew Concentrate is SO good if you are looking for a quicker solution every now and again. Highly recommend!

Well, tonight I followed you again, Lisa! Metabolic Mashup Live. What a great workout! Thanks for the heads up, and for the Trader Joe’s coffee tip. I tried to stay away from the kitchen at work, didn’t need a sugar coma.

Could not answer the bell yesterday, just too sore from legs and back and since I started the week on Sunday, I took a day off. Today was chest and tris and it was pathetic! , 8 sets of barbell flat bench, 2 sets of db inclines, 3 sets skullcrushers, 3 sets of pushdowns and 2 sets of kickbacks. It is shocking what 2 weeks of no lifting and poor protein intake will do to a body. Maybe it wouldn't have at 25, but I want my 2 weeks back! I have my semi annual check up at Mayo tomorrow so working half a day and heading north but will be back for Friday arm day...I hope! May see if they will give me antidepressants to cope with my pathetic weight room performance lol! Hope all is well in Commando land! PS, I wrote this at 5:45, but didn't push the button...lol!!
 
Today was the Upper Body Premix from 4 Day Split. Another goody. I've hit the Mother Lode lately. I think I will do the Lower Body Premix tomorrow. Hang in there, Tom. Things will improve, I promise. I remember celebrating Birthday Weeks with the kids. Always fun. Bought Trader Joe's Coffee today. Can't wait to try it tomorrow morning. Thanks for the tip, Lisa. That's about it, guys!! Today was arm day and it was much improved! 20 sets on arms, all supersets: 3x12skullcrushers/ 3x10 ez bar curls, 3x10 pushdowns/ 3x10 db curls, 2x18 kickbacks/ 2x8 conc curls and 2x15 inclined tri extensions/ 2x10 decline curls. I finished with 25 cable crunches. I felt much stronger on arms than when I did chest and tris and back and bis, and I know you pre exhaust, but I still felt closer to back to normal. It's Friday ladies, don't forget to flex!!
