Lifting like girls

Karen, sometimes ya just need rest! Working out with a tired body is sometimes just counterproductive. Lisa, sounds like you hit all the moving parts, great work! Today I did arms and will do shoulders tomorrow. busted it up good! Started with skullcrushers with a light weight x 10, but it tore up my elbows and I couldn't do dumbbell curls so I did pushdowns/ez bar curls. I did 8x10 and 1x7 (f) on pushdowns and 9x10 1x5 (f) ez bar curls. I finished with 2x8 conc curls and 2x20 kickbacks, I could do conc curls but didn't do full extension (90%) on the left arm. I ended up with 26 sets on arms and it felt GREAT, despite the fact that most of it was on 2 excercises only. It's FRIDAY!!!!! Have a terrific Christmas weekend Commandos!
 
26 sets on arms? Tom, you are a maniac. I would've stopped at 25, ya know in honor of Christmas. LOL! I always admire how you keep on going and don't let those elbows slow you down. There's always something you can do, right? Hope you have a WONDERFUL Christmas with your family.

Today I did the Cathe Live from yesterday, Keep the Cardio Coming Live (12/22/16). Of course I had to do it because it was cardio. DUH! It's snowy and yucky outside today so this gave me a chance to get some solid movement in. I get antsy sitting at home all day so this was great. Still don't do those one-arm burpees though. Always have to modify those to regular burpees. Am I the only one?

I will be working out tomorrow, resting on Sunday, and hopefully back on Monday to report it all. Happy holidays my dear Commando friends. See you Monday.
 
Got out of bed at 10!! Must have needed it like Karen. Shoulder day on Christmas eve...go figure. Kinda the usual, strict press, 12 sets, some short reps. 3x12 side laterals, 3x12 rear delt flys, 3x15 front raises and 3x15 shrugs but holding the top position for a 2 count then down slow. For abs, 4 min of planks and 1x30 cable crunches. Merry Christmas ladies!!'
 
On the menu for Monday..."pec puree", fried then pounded! Had a great chest day,13 sets of bench and 12 sets of rom isos after each set excluding 45# warm up. After a 45# warm up did 115x8, 135x5, 155x5, 175x5, 195x3, 205x2, 210x2, and 220x1, 195x5, 175x8, 155x10, 135x12. Next I hit tri's, 5 sets of pushdowns and 1x20 tri pushups to finish, This was the first time in what seems forever that I wasn't really limited by shoulder or elbow and it felt great! I cant remember the last time I got close to 220 and I am stoked! I feel I could have gone higher but with no spotter I decided to leave 225 for another day. I finished the workout with 3 ab sets, knee ins x 30, crunches x 30 and cable crunches x 30. I hope everyone's Christmas was terrific. now hit the gym and rid yourself of all that holiday toxic waste lol!
 
Tom, sounds like a great Christmas! Started with your 10am wake up call and ended with a gourmet Missouri Fried Pec meal! Colonel Sanders ain't got nothin' on you! Congrats on the 220. I'm just trying to imagine Santa leaving the gift of 220# in someone's stocking, LOL.

Karen, how was your Christmas?

We had a great one here! Saturday started with Vertical Loading Live (love this one!), and I cooked our big meal of crock pot pork shoulder with sweet potatoes and lots of other veggies. Went to a candlelight service on Saturday night. Sunday was all the Christmas fun, and we even did something I've always wanted to do but have never done--went to a diner for coffee (for me), hot chocolate for the girls, and a big slice of Oreo pie for my DH. Santa was at the diner, visiting all the tables so my DDs got to "thank" him for the gifts. Super cute:)

Today's workout: Kickboxing and Compound Weights Live (12/4/14). I've done this one a bazillion times but it always feels new when I do it. Was hoping for legs but lack of sleep got in the way. Happy final week of the holidays, friends! Let's do this thing.
 
Karen, I don't remember, did you preorder Strong & Sweaty? I got mine on Saturday, have a little issue with the case coming broken, but of course Nancy at Cathe's Customer Service is 100% amazing so it's going to be fixed in no time. I'm also realizing that I NEED to do an ICE rotation. Ack. I'm so behind. Also, because I'm a vidiot obviously, I checked out Totalfitnessdvds sale and on the one hand am totally bummed that KCM's newest are not part of the sale but on the other hand am relieved because good gracious I can hardly keep up with my current inventory. And yet we all know that somehow KCM's newest are going to end up in my hot little greedy workout hands!!! LOL
 
My Monday workwise, ugh! Back and bi day here, 4 sets of chin ups, 4 sets of pulldowns, 4 sets ez bar curls and 2 sets conc curls. Not as long a session as yesterday but those parts feel worked! Short and sweet this morning...have a good one friends!
 
Great workouts, you two! Tom, pull-ups will burn you for sure when you're short on time. Sorry work was so horrible yesterday. Blah. Karen, glad you're getting to "play" with the Strong & Sweaty goodies.

Today I did an UB mish mosh. Whatever, it worked, lol!

Well, today was a Mark Lauren workout. Full of burpees and mountain climbers. Arggh. I am looking forward to digging into Strong and Sweaty. I really liked PHA. Wasn't so difficult, that your life passed in front of your eyes, but, not boredom inducing easy, either. I'm feeling holiday "fat." (whatever that means) Looking forward to the first of the year, and my good clean eating intentions. Until then, It's full speed ahead. Not too many treats at our house this year. Thank goodness.
Off to have a bite of smoked turkey. Have a great evening, all! You guys are the best!! Until tomorrow.........

Karen, burpees and mountain climbers = my worst nightmares! Especially the one-arm burpees. Do I whine about those a lot? I feel like I do, LOL! I love workouts that don't make you have near death experiences but still work your body good. That's what I love about (most) of the Lives! Yeah, fortunately not many holiday treats for us this year. That's what happens when you are living in a rental house and don't know any of your neighbors! I'm glad about it, actually.

Tom, what's up?

Guys, today was leg day and I worked so hard. I felt proud of myself. Did an old Live favorite, Lower Body Burn Live (4/23/15). Fast paced and fun.

So, now it's time to gripe. We've had sooooooo much snow here. Like record breaking. Like we've been colder and gotten more snow than Montana and Minnesota and those other places where it's supposed to be cold and miserable. So, yeah, my poor car got stuck in the snow yesterday. TWICE. Within a 2 hour time span. WTH? I was pi$$ed beyond belief. Thank goodness for kind neighbors and passersby who saw me looking pathetic and came to my rescue.
 
Lisa, I am with you on burpees and mountain climbers! Glad your neighbor's helped you. I don't like snow, it's pretty for about an hour....then I am so done...it's going to be hard if I take a job in Alaska.

I am going to be honest, getting into working out is so hard for me. I having to force myself to start, then work harder to finish. Any suggestions?

I have lost 29 lbs, and want to really keep going. At this point, if I workout and eat right, I really have a chance of reaching my goal of healthy and fit. Today is cardio, and the doms are bad.

Speaking of doms...my little comedian decided to have some fun with me this morning.

He made me a cup of coffee, and brings it into my room, put it on me desk (across the room) and says come get it.

Did I say my doms are really bad? Knowing I have to sit to pee is a long ordeal, lol

So I laugh, not funny Hun.

"You can do it" (this also is what he says if I'm cussing Cathe)

Me: That's mean

Son: Come get it mom

So I jokingly threaten to confiscate his phone for the cruelty...

He holds up his phone and says "come get it mom"



Always makes me laugh...esp when my muscles scream from laughing
 
As y'all can tell I tanked leg day...but will make it up Saturday. Am not proud of myself, but the extra hour felt good! Tomorrow is shoulder day and I will show. It is always leg day it seems if I skip, and I know some of it is leg day and some is it is the middle of the week and I just need a break, especially when I am getting up at 5 EVERY morning. Way to carry the load my Commando friends! Lib, good to have you back...doms and all!
 
Shoulders for me. but even that was tough to wake up to! 9 sets strict press, nothing really heavy..wasn't there. 3x12 side laterals, 3x12 rear delt flys, 3x12 front raise and barbell shrugs (about 1/2 of son 2 tonnage lol) x30 x25 x20 and finished with a set of cable crunches. Always feel better after a w/o than before. tired but fulfilled! Have a good un Commandos!
 
Lib, LOL on your son's tricky tactics. The need for coffee is greater than the fear of DOMS. I am no expert, but like Tom said today, I am motivated to workout because I know my body and mind will feel better after I get the job done. I try to focus on doing things I like as much as possible. There are still days where I have to push myself to do it but the payoff is worth it. Keep things simple. Maybe start by doing 2 or 3 days on and then one rest day. You are so busy that maybe 6 days a week is unrealistic. Also in terms of diet, same thing. Keep it simple and focus on one change at a time, for example making sure one meal a day is very balanced with lots of veggies and protein or maybe cutting out late night snacking or whatever. For me, I can only change one or two things at a time.

Yeah Tom, what Karen said. 5am is a tough workout time. 6am is much more friendly, thank you very much. Good work on shoulders and legs will be waiting for you on Saturday.

Today I did For the Love of Cardio Live followed by some of my own random metabolic finishers. A good solid hour workout for me today. It's almost Friday and almost another holiday!
 
Please don't tell me it is NOT Friday!! Had a great but simple arm w/o. 9 sets of tri pushdowns/ ez bar curls and it is interesting, I did 8x10 of each and failed on the 7th rep of each on set 9! I will bump both up 5# next w/o I finished with 1x22 tricep pushups and 1x10 conc curl. I still promise you and myself that missed leg day. Have a great holiday weekend by friends and remember "Commandos don't drive impaired" lol!
 
Great work, Tom. Geez, now we are really going to keep you accountable for leg day because you keep reminding us, lol. Everyone in my neck of the woods is already driving like they are under the influence because of this ridiculous snow accumulation. Good reminder though

Today I did a DVD and not a Live! Shocker! I did Hard Strikes from XTrain. Actually liked it better than I remember liking it before.
