KK's October Check In

Good morning ladies,
Don't have a lot of time this morning as I need to be at work a little earlier as my boss let me off earlier yesterday to do an errand for work so I owe about 15 minutes. I don't have to, just feel like I don't want to owe anybody anything.

I did S&H Shoulders this morning and some Christi Cardio (just learning it so no intensity at all, except pushing the rewind button if that counts). I have trouble when she does the pivoting and turns to the camera. I'll get it though, eventually. I have a bike ride after work tonite with the guys. Hills, and lots of them. It was pretty intense last week. This is the last after work ride of the year, sorry to say, due to the time change this weekend.

I was good at the breakfast burrito feed, only having one small one that lasted me all day long. I came home early from work and got a nice little nap in too, did some housework in the evening and was good to go.

Sounds like everyone is keeping up with workouts. Really looking forward to the new ones!

Jeanette

Good morning ladies!

This AM I did HSTA. It wasn't the workout I had planned on, but I really wanted a solid leg WO, so I did that one. Those leg presses really get into the glutes.

Rhea, what cardio did you decide on yesterday? Hope it was fun.

Karen, did you finish your pages? Hope you did.

Jeanette, glad you got a nap. That sounds really nice!

I hope everyone has a great day today.

Good Thursday morning!

Well, Becky, - I didn't slow down and do a easy cardio! LOL. I did a Turbo Jam, Cardio Party #1. Was a very good choice, actually got some of the lactic acid out of my booty (of course, some went right back in when I stopped the workout!) I felt great at the end. Started out doing the low impact, was afraid I was going to hurt too much, but at the end after warming up, I was jumping all over the place.

Karen- only 30 pages to go! Did you manage to finish without making it an all nighter?

Jeanette - so, what are you doing this lovely fall weekend? It sure was coooooold this morning. It was 26 degrees at my house. My boss said that it was 22 in Westwood when he was coming over. (he lives in Almanor) DH is chukar hunting again on Saturday and that means I can sew all day. HEHE. I have a bunch of projects I'm working on. That machine is getting a workout. My feet actually will ache at the end of the day from standing at the ironing board piecing together fabric.

Well, everyone have a great day!

Good Evening!:)

Well, I didn't pull an all nighter, but I was up until past midnight working -- then up this morning and I finally finished it around 11AM or so.

But then my printer died on me half way through printing -- I have another printer -- but it doesn't print the old program that I write in -- so I had to convert files, etc and by the time I had done that and gotten everything working, there wasn't enough time to print it -- by 5:30, it was only on page 230. So hopefully my editor will understand and will welcome the mss on Monday -- hubby came home early to help -- and fixed my old computer, so I'm reprinting... What a day!

Didn't get a workout in as I was up early to get this done and worked straight through lunch, etc.

Jeanette -- Those slow & heavy workouts are supposed to be great -- and you're get the Christi -- I so admire that you're learning her -- have to admit that I like the simplier workouts step wise as I get more intensity in. Hope your ride with the guys was great!:)

Becky -- HSTA is a tough, though great workout. Good for times when under stress, I think.

Rhea -- Loved those Turbo Jams and have got to get them back into my schedule. The first one is one of my favorites, as well.

Well, hope you are all doing well on this wonderful evening in October. Have a terrific day tomorrow and super workouts.:7

Good morning ladies,

Yesterday's bike ride was good. 2 other guys showed and we decided to do a long hill (Hwy. 139 behind the college). I pushed pretty good and wasn't very far behind the guys and I know they were pushing so felt good about that. Today's workout was S&H Biceps and abs, then reviewed the Movemaster for Christi Taylor's Solid Gold Cardio. Some tough moves, but I'll get them.

Karen, too bad about your printer. Nice that your DH knows computer stuff. Mine doesn't at all. I don't worry about not having enough intensity while learning a workout because I have my bike riding for intensity. I'll have to get a Turbo Jam out soon too. Lots of fun.

Rhea, what kind of stuff are you sewing? Tis the season. Maybe you'll inspire me. For the weekend, I think I'll do a short fast ride with the guys on Saturday and DH has Sunday off so think we will take the Rhino out on the desert (Smoke Creek) or go up to Ramhorn Springs and do some exploring. Maybe we'll see your DH out chukar hunting? I'm looking forward to getting out with DH. He's been working long days at Honey Lake Power. They are doing their semi-annual maintenance shutdown and it's been a long one. We really should split wood on Sunday, but he needs to air out.

Becky, way to go on HSTA. Not one I own as I have HSC, but everyone says HSTA is a killer on leg presses.

Have dinner tonite over at my folks house. Will also say goodbye to Grandma as she's returning to Atascadero tomorrow.

Great workouts today.

Jeanette

Good afternoon ladies...and happy Friday!

I have totally went against the workout schedule I posted last weekend. This upcoming week I think I will just do the workout that I feel like...no planning. That way, if I get my new DVDs next week I can just throw them in the mix.

Speaking of the new DVDs...I am getting a bit annoyed by one of the posters on this forum. I am assuming it is a she. Anyway, someone asked Cathe if those who pre-ordered later will still get the surprise gift. Cathe has yet to reply, but this poster made the comment that it was only for those who ordered back during the original pre-order and that (basically) anyone who ordered later doesn't deserve the gift. Now, maybe it is because I didn't find Cathe until later and pre-ordered pretty much right after I found out about her, but if you are part of the people who ordered back in Sept 2005, why would you care if I, or someone else who found Cathe later, got a special gift from Cathe too? Those who ordered earlier will still get theirs first. I don't know. It just seems that this one particular poster just showed up after not contributing much around here and says things like that. *pouts because she wants the gift too*

Enough ranting. I am now officially off my soapbox.

Rhea, great job on the TJ! I don't have any of those, but I have heard they are a blast.

Karen, I am so sorry about your technical problems yesterday. I am sure your editor will understand.

Jeanette, how do you like S&H? How heavy does it get? I own them but have as yet not tried them out of fear of the name "heavy".

Must study now for my test next Friday. Although these forums keep drawing me in since the DVDs are on their way out!

-Becky

Good Evening!:)

It was ME for me today -- always one of my favorites. Finally got the manuscript off to my editor around noon today -- it still took me a while to print it, and then I also remembered that I'd forgotten to add a glossary, which I almost always do -- as I use words that aren't common sometimes...or specialized.

Anyway, it was good to get it done. Now I feel like I can get done some things again that have been pushed to the back burner.

Becky -- In any crowd, it seems that there's always someone who has to complain or rain on someone else's parade. Especially on these forums, the law of averages will bear out on this, I think. Luckily you don't have to associate with such people unless you choose to. If I remember correctly, Cathe didn't specify that only longest waiting people would be the only ones to get the "surprise." We'll have the workouts soon, anyway, so...

Sounds like a good idea to be flexible with your workouts. Only reason I do a workout schedule is that it helps me sort out what seems to me to be a good mix of cardio and weights and plyometrics and anaerobics -- stretching, as well. Plus, I just do better when I have a routine, it seems. But when those workouts come, I'll be substituting, as well.

Jeanette -- I've looked at the slow and heavy -- have noticed that my endurance is so much better than it used to be -- and I think the S & H would be a good addition. Hope you're having a great time with your parents -- too bad your grandmother is leaving -- but then again, she might be wanting to get home, as well.

You know, yesterday was one of those days for me -- and I hope my post didn't come off wrong. I wasn't being critical -- actually, I admire that you do so many different workouts -- I get so stuck -- I think what I was trying to say was that I don't always do well with complicated routines -- sometimes I try to do them without doing what you're doing and learning them first, cause I want that intensity for that day -- and then I can be prone to injuring myself. -- but it's really because I didn't learn the routine.

I get in ruts -- but sometimes I like those ruts, because I know the routine and can get that intensity in, in the time that I've allotted. It's actually something I have to work on -- is to do new things once in a while, and challenge myself. Muscles can adapt and I think I do, too, and the idea of throwing something new in is sometimes hard for me. But I'm sorry if my post yesterday came out wrong, especially cause the truth is that I admire all the different workouts that you do.

Well, it sure is good to get those revisions off. I feel like a load has been lifted, and now I'm suddenly seeing all kinds of things that need to be done around the house.

Again, I am doing some work all weekend for a friend -- Monday and Tuesday will probably be my days off. Oh, I should mention that at last I lost another pound, making it 2 pounds now -- actually, it's about 2 1/2 pounds, but now is the test of whether I can keep it off or not...

Have a wonderful weekend everyone and terrific workouts.:7

Good Saturday morning ladies!

I didn't realize in all of my soap-box yesterday that I had forgotten to post what workouts I had done!

Yesterday I did Pure Strength Back Biceps and Abs. I then did about an hour on the elliptical machine.

Today I did Pure Strength Chest Shoulders and Triceps followed by all of CTX All Step (except the shoulder work).

Karen, great job on losing the weight! Yea for Karen!!!

Jeanette and Rhea, I hope you both have great weekends.

I now must get back to studying.

-Becky

Good afternoon ladies!

I am so happy we had an extra hour this weekend! Love the "fall back"...dread the "spring forward".

Today I did Pure Strength Legs and Abs. I am not doing cardio today. Thought I'd give myself a rest from that.

Must get back to studying. DH is leaving for his new job on Tuesday and I am sad but I am burying myself in studying for this test on Friday. On Friday night, he'll be back!

I hope everyone had a great weekend.

-Becky

Hi ladies,
I didn't post Saturday or Sunday. Saturday was no workout (DVD), but I did a 32 mile bike ride with fast riders. The first 16 miles were very, very fast, with my heart rate up there. We were in a rotating paceline for all of it and stayed around 20-21 miles per hour the whole time. At the turn around point myself and 2 others elected to turn around. One of the ladies had a blowout on her tire (and tube) so we 1/2 way repaired it and then rode slowly with her back to where she could get a ride. It wasn't a matter of repairing the tube (she had a spare tube), it was a blowout to the tire. Sounded like a gun shot when it went. Anyway, it was a good ride. Stacked wood for a couple of hours when I got back.

Yesterday was a rest day. DH, SIL and GD and myself went for breakfast. After that, DH and our dogs and I took our Yamaha Rhino out to the woods and had a very nice relaxing day driving around, seeing new areas. We needed that as we haven't been out for a while due to DH working lots of hours and days lately at his work. Think that schedule is soon to end, thankfully.

Today's workout was Pyramid Upper Body (no abs) up premix only and then added on Turbo Jam 20 minute workout plus Turbo Abs. I think this week will be a mish mash of whatever I want to do, until my Cathe's arrive on Thursday (hopefully). Anybody else have theirs yet?

Becky, I like S&H. You only do 8 reps, but it's at 8 counts per rep so you take the momentum out of movements. Today, in the Pyramid chest, back and part of triceps, I used my 20#ers, so think maybe my strength increased with GS and S&H.

Karen, in NO WAY did I take offense at anything you might have written about the intensity of certain workouts. In fact, I had to look back and see what you wrote. I totally agree that it's hard to get intensity when learning something new. I tend to be somewhat lazy on some stuff so less intensity for me at times is good and keeps me coming back. I like the challenge of learning something new and figure for me I really need to work on my eating more than my working out as I see better results when I stick to cleaner eating. Tomorrow, however, will be a Cardio Coach workout and they are pretty intense for me. I downloaded all of them so think I'll do a different one tomorrow. I'll do it after work, probably about 30-40 minutes total.

Must go now. Back on 10 hour days this week so will try to get to bed early tonite. Also have a massage scheduled on Thursday after work. Looking forward to it.

Jeanette :7

Good morning!:)

I can't believe I forgot to post last night -- shows you how busy my weekend was. Today is my day off, as I worked all weekend long -- oh, and next weekend is the first of my exhibition dances -- it will be in Griffith Park and should be fun.

Becky -- Pure Strength is one I don't have -- sound intense, though. Don't know if you're like me when my DH leaves on a trip, but I don't sleep as well when he's not there -- eventually, I get in the "groove" again, but it takes me a while. Hope that this isn't the case with you, however. It'll be great when he's back, I'm sure.

Jeanette -- your weekend looks really busy. Wow! 32 miles seems like a lot, actually. I've never heard a blow out on a bike before, so that's interesting that it sounded like a shot. Can't believe you came back and staked wood, as well.

Your drive sounds so relaxing, as a matter of fact, I may go for a drive in our mountains, just to relax a little myself.

Something is wrong with our air quality here -- On Saturday, there were probably 50 trails in the sky from planes and such -- and our air quality is such that I'm wondering if they were putting something in the air. I've heard about this before, but never thought much about it until this weekend when -- after they were in the air -- the air quality became so bad, it's almost unbreathe-able.x(

We have air filters going all the time in our house, but it's so pervasive that even they can't keep the air clean inside the house. Whew!

Anyway, do well on your 10 hour days -- at least you'll have 3 days off, which will be good.

Okay, so on Friday, it was ME for me and then Saturday was IMAX3 -- Sunday did the 37 minute KPC premix and today was IMAX2 -- probably too many IMAX's too close together, but...

Here's this week's rotation plan:

Mon: IMAX2

Tues: Cardio & Weights

Wed: Fancy dance practice and stretch

Thurs: MM or one of Cathe's new ones if they are here

Fri: IMAX 3 -- I'd do IMAX, but it doesn't play well -- only have it in VHS

Sat: Bootcamp or one of Cathe's new ones if I have them -- at 3 PM I go and do fancy dancing exhibition.

Sun: Off

Well, have a terrific day everyone and wonderful workouts!:7

Can't talk long ladies. Got to help DH get ready to go to Pensacola tomorrow.

Just thought I'd check in and say that I did IMAX 2 this morning. Will post more tomorrow.

-Becky

Good morning,
Sounds like everyone has been pretty busy. Really not liking the time change but oh well. Today's workout was 2 combos from Rhythmic Step (haven't done this one in a while) and then almost all of Cardio Collectibles Step. Full 60 minutes. I plan on a Cardio Coach on the bike right after work. Probably try out one of the new ones.

Karen, do a lot of people go to the exhibition dances? Sounds fun. Is it like a Pow Wow? What do you wear to it? Your rotation sounds pretty intense. Bet your cardio endurance is fantastic!

Becky, good going on Imax2, Karen too.

I've been checking my UPS tracker and all it shows is that I'll get mine on Thursday and that it's on time. It shows them departing on the 27th from Pennsylvania and no activity since then. Hope I do get them on Thursday.

How about you ladies? When are you getting yours?

Must go, Rhea must be sewn to the ironing board, we haven't hear from her.

Jeanette

Good morning!

Nope, not sewn to the board, but busy at work. We let go our misdemeanor attorney (he was not working out) So guess where the extra work goes. My heartburn is back with a vengence. I'm glad there is a doc appointment on Friday. Looks like stress is a big factor.

Hmm. workouts.....well over the weekend, none. I was too busy having fun with the sewing. Yesterday I did Cardio Party Mix #2. Not sure what will be managed today. My new Cathes don't get here until Friday. Sometimes they come earlier than scheduled though. That would be nice since I won't be here on Friday.

Well, back to the salt mines.

Hi ladies.

Karen, looks like we did the same w/o yesterday. IMAX 2 is so much fun!

Jeanette, how do you like cardio collectibles? I had that one but couldn't seem to get the hi/lo so I sold it on Amazon. Now I wish I hadn't. :(

Rhea, I am with you with getting the DVDs on Friday. I may have to do one of them after my test on Friday!

Taking Jeanette's lead, today I did a Christi Taylor....Solid Gold Cardio. Although I loathe the cooldown (some funky weird thing to one of her son's songs) the w/o kept me on my toes! I haven't done it in a LONG while since last time I had a hard time w/ the choreography. I concentrated really hard tonight and got it!

I am a bit sad tonight. DH left this AM to go to Pensacola and our webcams aren't working yet. He has to get a static IP address from the internet company out there first. Hopefully he'll have it tomorrow. But...he is coming back on Friday, so it won't be long.

Must study.

-Becky

Good Evening!:)

Back to my evening check ins. It was Cardio & Weights for me today -- I'm liking that workout more and more.

Becky -- I agree -- I love IMAX2 -- it is my favorite IMAX and as you can tell I do it often. Don't ever seem to tire of it. So glad you got the Chriti Taylor steps down -- her workouts do sound complex. Yes, at least hubby will be back on Friday -- but I sure understand the sort of "let down." I go through that, too, when I'm away from my hubby.

Jeanette -- Ah, Rhythmic Step is a great one -- haven't done it in a while -- it also is on VHS for me. Not sure when my workouts are supposed to come -- I only got notification today that they were sent and I haven't checked on them yet. I'll let you know.

Oh, the exhibition -- it's sort of like a pow-wow but not entirely -- there will be a drum (drum meaning 5-6 men who sit around the special drum and beat out time and sing) and other dancers -- I think there's 8 all total -- but there won't be the stands and fry bread and that sort of thing -- it's to benefit a local Native group here -- I forget the name of it. Tomorrow is my day to practice -- the trick I think in fancy dancing is the shawl -- keeping it moving all the time -- and it looks easy, but it's very hard. One's arms are constantly in an outward direction, moving with the shawl -- kinda hard on the arms.

I wear the fancy dance regalia -- which is a pretty plain dress with a vest -- leggings, moccasins, beadwork, earrings, a feather in the hair (I only have one) and of course the shawl with ribbons or fringe attached to it. My regalia (which was given to me) is Blackfeet made and has golden butterflies on it -- and it's a hot pink color.

It should be fun!:)

Rhea -- Hope those salt mines are paying you well for all the extra time. If it were publishing, you wouldn't be paid extra...x( Much as I love it, I think publishing is a hard way to make a living. But anyway, I would think that being a lawyer wouldn't be quite so easy either.

Wish I could sew well. I'm taking quite a few things out to a seamstress for alterations here and there.

Well, can't wait for the new workouts. Am on pins and needles to get them.

Have a wonderful day tomorrow and have some great workouts, too!:7
