KK's October Check In

Good Evening!:)

Rhea, you and I must've been posting at the same time yesterday, cause I didn't see you post until tonight. You made me laugh, by the way -- your view on things is sometimes hysterical...;-)

Am glad that the hearburn is goneand that you got in some Turbo Jams. I like them, too, but forget about them sometimes. Hope your Friday was great!

Becky, CONGRATUATIONS!!!! to your hubby and getting the new job. Bet the night out was fun, fun, fun. Kick Max is pretty intense I've heard -- I don't have it, but my daughter tells me it's pretty intense. Smiled at your going to sleep for 2 hours -- I think you deserved it.

Jeanette, oh, I see. You feel asleep at the massage -- oh, that makes sense. But I gotta tell you that sometimes when I go to the hairdresser, the scalp massage feels so good, I could go to sleep.

Your description of the Christi tapes sounds wonderful. I will really have to look her up.

Well, it was IMAX2 for me today. I didn't really want to do it as I had awakened feeling drowsy and working in the morning, didn't clear it up. But the workout must've been good, cause afterwards, I was very awake.:)

It's a busy weekend for me as I am doing some work for a friend of mine. Hope everyone has a great weekend and terrific workouts!:7

Good Saturday morning:

Today's workout was S&H Triceps, S&H Abs and then the Timesaver Premix from High Step Challenge (32 min.). Good workout and my triceps are fried as I used a 20# DB for the overhead tricep extension in S&H for 2 rounds, then switched to 15#.

This morning I need to do some house cleaning and make a sweet potato casserole for my niece's wedding this afternoon. May help DH split wood too if I have time. Tomorrow is a bike ride in the morning with the club and then the annual bike club BBQ. This week has not been a good one for eating (in the way of eating "clean"). Had a potluck yesterday that I dropped in on at work, wedding today and BBQ tomorrow. However, for some reason a one body part a day, with minimal cardio each day does me good and I feel leaner, not a big difference in weight, but at least I'm not puffy. I have 2 more weeks of this one body part a day rotation, next week switching back to GS and then the last week being S&H. I had good results last time I did this type of workout too.

DH mentioned that after his work's maintenance shutdown is over (he's been working lots of days in a row and somewhat longer hours), he wants to start working out again in the evenings. Hope so, but I'll not push for it. He hasn't gained any weight back, but does need to firm up.

Karen, glad Imax2 was good for you. I love that one also. Hope you get lots of work in this week. Have you pursued the Tai Chi thing any more?

Becky, congrats on your DH getting the job. I dislike uncertainty. Some people thrive on it but not me. Glad you got the 2 hour nap. I'm sure you needed it. Our bodies need time to rest and they do try to tell us. I see SOOOO many threads on this board where exercisers are sick with colds or coming down with something. I think way too much. Maybe overtraining? That's what I'm tending to think, but what do I know?

Must go now, looking forward to the wedding this afternoon (4:00 p.m.).

Great workouts and a wonderful weekend to everyone!

Hi Rhea!

Jeanette

Good evening ladies.

Karen, hope your weekend wasn't too hectic with helping your friend.

Jeanette, hope you enjoyed the wedding.

Rhea, hope all is well with you.

I didn't quite stick to my plan this weekend. My glutes were pretty sore from the KM leg drills, so I didn't feel up to L&G yesterday. Instead, I just ran for half an hour. That felt much better for my body. Since I didn't get my leg workout in yesterday, I felt I should do something total body today instead of the planned UB GS marathon. So, I did Body Max. What a sweat fest!

Here's my schedule for the week:

M: IMAX 3 plus Coremax segment 3
T: SB & SJP premix: step and weights circuit #2
W: Step and Intervals (skip chestwork) plus Bootcamp cardio only
R: L&G & KPC premix: Kickbox Cardio drills and Kickbox and Strength Circuit
F: MIC
S:GS Legs plus run
Su: PUB plus run

I am trying to incorporate some premixes this week. It should be a fun way to switch it up a bit.

I just glanced into the living room and my DH is out cold on the floor. He did yoga and I guess fell asleep during shavasana because he is still lying on his yoga mat in corpse pose...sound asleep. How cute.

We are so psyched about DH getting the job. One set of my in-laws (DH's dad and stepmother) are visiting the first weekend in November and want to help us pack (their visit was already planned...hoping most of the packing will already have been done) My other set of in-laws (DH's mom and stepfather) have offered to come down and help us move in (even though we have movers, we'll still have to unpack). That should be nice. My mother in law is a clean-a-holic and she'll make everything spic and span before anything goes in any cabinets.

Well, I guess I should go wake DH up and transfer him to the bed. Hope everyone had a splendid weekend!

-Becky

Good Evening!:)

Wow! Busy weekend for me. I actually am going to take the day off tomorrow work wise -- so I can get some personal cycles done -- before hitting it hard on the revisions. Told my editor they'd be done in a couple of weeks, but would like to get them done as soon as possible -- and hopefully earn some pay.;-)

Becky -- I laughed and laughed at the picture of your DH asleep on the floor -- sounds like my hubby -- I swear he can sleep anywhere.

Body Max is a great workout -- I seldom have time to do the whole thing -- but the beginning of it -- that cardio -- is one of my favs and I do it often -- love the warm up in Body Max, as well.

Looks like you've got alot of help with all those inlaws. Sounds like fun instead of the hassel that moving can sometimes be.

Jeanette -- a wedding. Ah! How I love weddings. Oh, I've done that HSC premix -- it's interesting cause there's no warm up or cool down -- but it's sure good when there's only a limited time to get in a workout.

Didn't know you were doing only one body part a day -- I've heard that this can be really good. Have never tried it -- I seem to get in ruts. Sounds like you did really well on your weight, though, despite it all. Sometimes it's that tape measure that says what's really going on.

Oh, I lost 1 lb. last week -- and I was really working on it -- but I lost 1/4 inch on my hips, which I'm happy about. Goal is still to lost 2 lbs. this next week. If I were to do that -- and not go up in weight, which I tend to do -- but if I can lose 2 lbs. -- I'll be at a weight that I like. Boy, it's coming off tough.

Oh, I haven't pursued the Tai Chi -- as I just haven't really had a moment of spare time. But hopefully soon.

Hi Rhea! Hope your weekend was great.

Here's my plan for the coming week:

Mon: IMAX3 on a 4" step.

Tues: SJP & SB premix circuit workout or if this doesn't work out, then the HSC premix 57 minute version, I think.

Wed: Cardio -- I may start doing my Indian Fancy Dancing -- have some pow-wows coming up and an exhibition in December, so I'd better start practicing. And a stretch with Cathe.

Thurs: ME -- just can't seem to go a week without ME

Fri: IMAX2 or a Sprint 8 outside

Sat: Cardio & Weights or Bootcamp -- Did Bootcamp on Sat. and loved it.

Sun: Off

You could be right, Jeanette, about the illness and over training. Oh, isn't the clip of Cathe's workouts exciting? Laughed like crazy when I saw her doing bicep curls with bar AND band. Wow.

Well, have a wonderful day tomorrow and terrific workouts!:7

Good morning everyone,
Had a good weekend, hope everyone else did too. The wedding on Saturday was wonderful and beautiful. Had a nice time eating, socialize and dancing afterwards.

Yesterday was a bike ride with the club. We had a new rider and she went pretty slow, so I rode with her quite a bit. Not a workout at all for me, but hey, it was my rest day anyway. Plus, if it gets her riding more regularly, then it's worth it. Our club's BBQ afterwards was very nice too.

Today's workout was GS Chest and then Intervals 4-6 of Lowmax (that's all I had time for. I was really sweating even on only 3 intervals. Lowmax always does that to me for some reason, though I didn't get my heart rate up very much.

Karen, way to go on losing a pound. I know how hard it is that's for sure. Glad you got lots of work done this weekend too. Have fun with Imax3 today too.

Becky, I laughed at the description of your DH sleeping after yoga. Must really be relaxing for him. That's very good. Great that you will have help with your move. Enjoy the premixes.

Great workouts today,

Jeanette

Good morning all!

Becky - congrats on the job for DH! I giggled here at work when you mentioned him sound asleep on the floor. After yoga, I could sleep too.

Karen - great job on the lb! I've given up weighing on the scale. I'm just too up and down lately.

Jeanette - isn't our weather just awesome. I've been indoors a lot, but have the windows open when it warms up.

Well, I did Step Blast on Friday...forced myself to workout. It was great. My HR was rather high, but I felt great afterwords. However, I didn't end up working out this weekend. I slept wrong (or something) and my neck was out of wack, along with my shoulder. I think I'm falling apart. Oh well. Today I think I'll try to get some long yoga in and get that flexibility back.

Well, the decrepid old lady has to get to court, talk to you later!

Good evening ladies.

Karen, congrats on the weight loss. Keep up the good work.

Jeanette, glad you enjoyed the wedding.

Rhea, hope you feel better. Yoga should loosen up those joints.

This AM I did IMAX3 and this PM I did 35 minutes on the elliptical. I might make myself do segment 3 of coremax, but not sure I'll be able to...have lots of studying to do tonight.

Anyway, back to work.

-Becky

Good evening!:)

Well, didn't get enough sleep last night, so I opted for IMAX2 today instead of IMAX3 -- and it worked out okay. Tried a new hair dye today -- completely nature -- henna -- but it doesn't cover gray real easily. Boy, these hair dyes are potent.

Jeanette -- so glad that the wedding was good -- I do love weddings -- and that's great that you have a new rider -- it was good of you to drop back with her -- and you're right -- if it gets a new rider...

Rhea -- so glad you worked out on Friday -- your descriptions on your post made me laugh, though. Becky might be right, I think -- a little cardio (to get the blood pumping) and some stretching might really help.

Becky -- you so impress me with your workouts. Hope the studying it going great.

Well, again, it's late and I'm off to bed.

Have a super day tomorrow, everyone and terrific workouts.:7

Hi all,
This morning's workout was GS Back (with my new 20#ers, yikes, felt them), added on the Bootcamp core only premix and then 1/2 hour of hi-lo from Christi Taylor. The GS Back workout is actually short (15 minutes) compared to about a 1/2 hour for the Chest workout yesterday. If it's not too bad after work, will do a Cardio Coach bike workout.

Rhea, I think Step Blast is fun and glad you got a chance to do it. Hope your neck and shoulder are back. I need to start adding in more yoga too. After being on vacation for a week, I really noticed how stiff I was. It's actually better when I'm working out regularly.

Becky, Coremax, hmmm. That's one I haven't done much of and need to pull it out soon. Imax3 I hear is a good one, though I don't own it. I'm not much for hi impact, though I'm sure it's modifiable.

Karen, interesting on the hair dye. Does it wash out eventually or is it a permanent dye? Are you pleased with how it turned out? I just use the Clairol Natural Instincts as I don't have much gray (yet). Don't think I'm the type to "go gray" completely, not for a long time yet. My little Portuguese grandma dyed hers up into her late 80's and looked great that way.

Must go and get ready for work.

Jeanette

Hello ladies.

Going to be a quick post as I have clinic soon.

Karen, glad you enjoyed IMAX 2.

Jeanette, glad you are getting good use out of your new Christi Taylors. I haven't done mine in a while...might have to break those out sometime soon.

Today I did the 68 minute premix: SB & SJP premix: step and weights circuit #2. It did the SB combos 1,2, and 3 w/ weights from SJP in between. Really a sweatfest. It was great! I totally recommend that one. I usually don't do premixes, but after how much I enjoyed this one, I am going to have to try to incorporate these. I probably won't do a 2nd workout today. I have a lot of Path to read tonight and that text is around 2000 pgs so it won't fit on the elliptical book reader thingy. :)

Hope all has a great day.

-Becky

Good Evening!:)

Becky -- I think you and I both did premixes from SB and SJP today -- I did the very last one, which was a circuit workout of 61 minutes -- it was very good, too.

2000 pages -- wow! And how many days to you have to read it? 2000 pages. I'm having a hard time imagining doing that in a few days times. Go to it, Becky!

Jeanette -- I don't have any of the Gym Styles -- I didn't get them mostly because I feel so inept at putting together my own workouts. You and Becky are so creative in this way, but I'm not -- maybe if I had those CTX's, I'd feel differently, though.

I don't know of a single hair color that I don't have some reaction to. Used to color my hair without anything, but then many years ago, probably about twenty -- I went to a hair stylist and whatever she used gave me asthma, so I became careful. As it is, I only use the dyes one gets at a Health Food Store, but even those are too much for me sometimes. This time I did Henna, which I already know I'm allergic to, but only mildly. Wasn't real thrilled with the color and it didn't color the gray very well -- but then I didn't use it entirely correctly either.

The one hair color I was using changed their formula this past week, and so that's what's throwing me into looking into other colors. Most I simply can't use.

Tomorrow I plan on doing some fancy dancing (it's quite plyometric and aerobic) as my cardio -- then a stretch. Gotta get in some practicing.

Have a terrific day tomorrow, everyone and super workouts!:7

Good morning,
Today's workout was warmup and floorwork from GS Legs and then tacked on 30 minutes from Turbo Jam #1. My bike ride yesterday (Cardio Coach Version #2 - for Video Fitness) was good and tough. Had 45 second sprints at the end. Good workout there. Without these workouts on the bike, I'd probably never push myself that hard.

Becky and Karen, I too love SJP/Step Blast premixes. Big fun factor for me and I love the music. On my days off, I keep going to these circuits as I have enough time and they are just enjoyable. Wow, Becky, 2000 pages to read!

Karen, is the fancy dancing the Indian dancing? Do you have a DVD you do or is it by memory? Is Henna a red color? Sorry you don't like the color and coverage.

Got to go now, great workouts everyone and hi to Rhea.

Jeanette :7

Good morning ladies.

I think I confused you yesterday. The book is 2000 pages, but I don't have to read it all at once. I will be using it until May. :)
I just mentioned the page count to explain why it wouldn't fit on the book holder on the elliptical machine.

Karen, hope you enjoy that fancy dancing today.

Jeanette, that floorwork from GS legs is tough. Hope you enjoyed it.

This AM I did CTX Step and Intervals (no weights) and then the cardio only premix from Bootcamp. Crazy sweatfest. Loved it.

Must get to lecture. Hope everyone has a great day.

-Becky

Good Morning!:)

Am logging on early today as I have alot of work ahead of me and plan to be working well into the evening...

Today was interesting. Did a warm up with KPC and then put in a DVD of the fancy dancing, etc. and started practicing -- there's no formal step to fancy dancing -- it's a free for all -- and quite intense. It's jumping and kicking continuously -- started putting in jingle dancing in spots, as it's not quite so plyometric -- more just straight cardio -- so it gave me back my breath. I think that the terms comes from the regalia worn. Fancy dancing has fancy shawls with ribbon fringe and such and jingle dancing has tobacco can lids made into jingles and stitched all over the dress. Then did a stretch on the ball.

Jeanette -- love the Turbo Jams -- haven't done them in a while, though. Oh, Henna is usually red, but there are brown henna's as well, which is what I used. I think it'll be better if I use it correctly next time. I'll just keep searching for a hair color that works.

Becky -- oh, I see. Okay, well that makes more sense. Whew!

Rhea -- Hope all is going well with you. Are you planning golf -- or doing any bartending?

Well, have a wonderful day everyone! And super workouts this evening.:7

Hi!

Just a really really quick post.. I've been either in court, in Reno or at the high school as part of the Juvenile Justice Panel. At least I got a quick lunch today to check messages at the office. I've been doing yoga, no real workouts, my neck is better, my hip/hip flexor too (didn't tell you about that one, I didn't want to really look that decrepid!) Any hoo, yoga is planned for the next week every day. I've actually stiffened up a little bit, so I'm going to keep it up. Now if I could only get the dog to stop putting his cold nose on my feet while I'm trying to relax on the floor, it might be more relaxing!

:7

Hi,
My Friday today :7 , though next week will probably be back on 8 hour days, 5 days as co-worker will be on vacation. Today's workout was GS Shoulders and then Christi's Cardio Collectibles (Step). Fun workout. Today after work is a bike ride with some guy friends. Think we will hit it fairly hard (like hills or sprints or something).

Rhea, enjoy your yoga. I think that's a great idea to do that and get some flexibility back. I know what you mean about the dog and the cold nose. Our German Shorthair likes to do that too. Think she wonders if I'm okay when I'm in the prone position.

Becky, I need to revisit CTX Step and Intervals again soon. That's a good one for getting the heartrate up and adding Bootcamp cardio (to boot!). You rock!

Karen, the fancy dancing sounds fun! I like lots of variety. Very glad I have added Turbo Jam and Christi. I really look forward to my cardio choices and intensities.

Must go now, been super busy at work.

Jeanette

Good evening ladies

Karen, that fancy dancing sounds complicated. Glad you enjoyed it.

Rhea, so good to hear from you. It sounds like you have been crazy busy. Enjoy the yoga.

Jeanette, enjoy your bike ride.

This morning I did another premix. This time it was L&G & KPC premix: Kickbox Cardio drills and Kickbox and Strength Circuit. That was a good one too.

Hope everyone has a great night. Oh, we've packed 6 boxes so far. Feel good about that.

-Becky

Good Evening!:)

It was ME for me today. Did it later in the day than usual in the hopes that I'd get more work done, but I didn't, so I think I'll go back to my workouts first thing in the morning.

Jeanette -- have you done monstly GS and Christi workouts this week? It seems that I've read alot of that this week. Must be some pretty tough workouts. Hope the ride tonight was good -- going with guys could be challenging -- at least it would be for me.

Rhea -- glad that the yoga is turning out good. Yea! So you had a hip flexor problem, as well? Glad it's all working through. I know since I've been doing at least a 20 minute stretch once a week, my chiro appointments have been a great deal less than in years past.

Becky -- amid all your studying you still packed 6 boxes. Go to it! Your workout sounds complex, but thrilling at the same time.

It's been beautiful here in LA lately -- the Santa Ana's blew in and believe it or not, blew in clean air. That's practically a first.

So I've been internet shopping for make-up lately. Am ditching the makeup I have worn for years and years and years as the ingredients contain harmful things like synthetic parabens. And I've ordered some very natural make up -- we'll see how that goes -- as I a real lover of make-up. Rarely go out without it.

Anyway, have a wonderful day tomorrow and terrific workouts, ladies!:7

Good late morning:

My day off today so after getting up with DH at 4:30, making his lunch and sending him off, I did what I usually do on my days off - go back to sleep on the couch until about 7:30 a.m. HEAVENLY! Love my 3 days off in a row. Next week, however, my co-worker is on vacation so I'll work 5 days and go to work at 8:00. It actually gives me a little more sleep, which helps and I can do a bit longer workout.

Yesterday's bike ride with 4 other guys was awesome:7 . It was a hill climbing workout. We rode to various hills around our area and hammered up them. The pace in between the hills was pretty good too. I thought I wasn't going to be able to hang at first, but ended up doing pretty well, if I do say so myself, actually going up as fast as some of the others (and slower on some). Great cardio and leg workout. I was super jazzed when I got done cuz my fitness was there for this tough workout. I attribute lots to Cathe workouts, but for really getting my heart rate up there on the bike I attribute to Cardio Coach workouts. They just stretch me up there when I wouldn't do it on my own. We'll probably ride again on Thursday and then the time changes so no more after work rides. ;( Our club has a Fall Color ride on Sunday and I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully, we'll have a bunch of riders.

Today's workout was GS Biceps and then I tacked on the 37 minute premix of KPC Cardio Conditioning, then tacked on the stability ball ab work from KPC. Great workout. Been a long time since I've done any of KPC. I have one more week of a one body part a day rotation, this time using Slow & Heavy. Hopefully, we'll have the new Cathe DVD's to play with then.

The Drill Max DVD looks awesome. I'll be interested in the premixes as I usually only have an hour to work out.

Karen, the GS workouts are good. Doing one body part a week has helped with my strength. I was stronger during my bicep work today and I think it's helping with all body parts. Christi is so much fun for me, more complex than Cathe so I don't get as bored cuz I have to keep thinking. I have a few more workouts of hers to learn. Not as intense as Cathe, but then on the step workout I only use one riser, but still I don't think she's as intense. I don't like doing too much intensity all the time anyways. I use the Cardio Coach workouts for intensity (they are tough, tough, tough). Makes me like my cardio in the house if it's not tough all the time. Hope I'm explaining this right. Let us know about the new makeup you ordered. Have you tried Bare Essentials? Is that one "clean"?

Becky, think you planted a seed for me to get out my KPC today LOL. Actually, FitTV had Cathe's KPC on so that must have clinched me pulling it out too. Good work on starting the packing.

Have lots of errands to do. Having lots of family over for a BBQ tonite. I made that mocha cheesecake the other night. Hope it tastes as good as the piece I had about a month ago. I'l also be working on a dutch oven cornbread. DH will do the BBQ'ing and we'll have salad too.

Great workouts everyone and have a really nice weekend!

Jeanette

Hello everyone!

TGIF. It is a busy catch up day for me, actually exhausted after spending two days at the high school. You don't really "do" anything but talk to all the ninth graders, but for some reason, whew, tired.

I've been doing my a.m. yoga in the morning. Only about 15 minutes, but its getting the muscles moving. I have a massage today. Tomorrow I think I might do a TLT (tracy long training). Haven't done one of those for a while and they are nice a low impact. I'm also thinking of a full hour of the yoga again. Tomorrow I have a party at my house, Octoberfest theme, so I've got to be in good shape for all that company. I think we are going to Reno on Sunday for a shopping type spree (groceries, though and I think DH wants to take two 55 gal drums and get gasoline.)

Well, back to work, or actually, go get something for lunch. I'm hungry!
