KK's October Check In

Good morning ladies,
Yesterday's fundraiser for the little boy with cancer was good. Lots of horseback riders there. Only one runner and 1 bike rider (me). It was 8 miles long, but some was in light sand so that was tougher. Was very fun, but ate too much afterwards. Today's workout was GS Triceps and then I will do a club bike ride. I can't stay out real long as I have my niece's bridal shower to attend at 2:00 this afternoon. Our BBQ didn't happen last night, but that's okay as I got the house cleaned. Fridge also... Tomorrow will be stacking wood as DH split a bunch yesterday. I also still need to clean the trailer so that's on tap too. Some holiday, huh?

Becky, we'll be waiting to hear how you did on your tests. Hope your night out on Friday night was good. I'm going to have to get Rhythmic Step out soon, I like that one too.

Karen, HSTA, don't think I've read you've done that one in a while. Glad it was good. That is pretty neat that you got to meet the director. I wouldn't even know what to say to him.

Must run as I'm running a little late.

Jeanette

Good Evening!:)

Am posting late, but that seems to be the usual for me nowadays. Took the day off today, as well -- it's my usual day off. What a busy weekend for me... Goodness... Am doing some work for a friend of mine from 1-6 Sat & Sun and so it's just been...well...busy...

Am actually looking forward to settling down to get the revisions done tomorrow ont he book.

It was great getting to meet the director -- I think I told him that I consider him to be a hero (and I really do) and he kissed my cheek. Sigh...

Becky -- I'll be crossing my fingers on your tests. I bet you aced them.

Jeanette -- sounds like fun, the bike ride -- but maybe not riding in the sand -- that sounds hard.

Anyway, need to post the upcoming week's rotation:

Mon: IMAX3 -- on a 4" step

Tues: HSC -- might do the premix instead of the 70 minute one

Wed: cardio of choice and stretch of choice

Thurs: ME -- again one of my favs

Fri: IMAX2

Sat: Bootcamp

Sun: Off

Pretty simple actually. Am going to rethink this pretty soon to split up my weight work to lower body and upper body on separate days. But for now, I'll jut continue with this.

Diet wise -- I'm actually dieting -- watching everything I eat -- doing all the diet stuff -- and I hope to lose 2 lbs. this week.

Have a terrific day tomorrow and wonderful workouts.:7

Good Columbus Day holiday morning:

No prison work for me today, but have other things that I really need to get done today (clean trailer, stack wood, go to Wally World, clean bike, put time trial bars on bike).

Yesterday's club ride was good. Rode with 4 other guys but it was a nice pace, not too fast or too slow. Probably their recovery ride and a good pace for me. After that was my niece's bridal shower. Very nice, had a good time and the biggest surprise, my Grandma from Atascadero walked in with my mother! I knew she was coming up for the wedding this Saturday but didn't know she'd arrived in town already. She's 92 years old and looks wonderful for her age. You wouldn't believe it. Still dresses to the 9's. Always was a clothes horse and looked elegant in her clothes. Actually, she still does.

Today's workout was Slow & Heavy Chest and then the first 3 combos of Step Blast. Fun workout and I'm feeling it in my chest already. I need to pick up some 20#ers at Walmart today too. I've held off long enough.

Karen, hope you got lots done on your "day off". Bet you are working on your revisions today. And a kiss from the director, wow!!! I'm with you on the food watching today. I was not good this weekend with the fundraiser and the bridal shower. Down to business today.

Hi to Becky and Rhea, hope you guys are getting your workouts in. Rhea, did you sew up a storm this weekend?

Must run,

Jeanette

Hi ladies. Yesterday was a rest day for me. So needed it. My quads were really sore from LL on Saturday. Those sit and stands killed me.

Today I did IMAX 2 and then some abwork from Ab Hits. I might hit the elliptical machine tonight.

Here's my rotation for the week:

M: IMAX 2
T: High Step Challenge
W: Low Max
R: HSTA plus abs from bootcamp
F: Kick Max
Sat: Legs & Glutes plus a run
Sun: GS BSB timesaver and GS C&T timesaver

I am kicking it up a notch this week. I don't think my body liked as much weight work as I was doing last week so I am doing more high intensity cardio and circuits. I think I need cardio at least 5 days a week.

Karen, good luck on your diet. With that rotation and its high cardio load, I am sure you'll lose those pesky 2 lbs.

Jeanette, I wish I had read your post earlier. Totally forgot that it was Columbus day and went to the bank and then got all flustered because they were closed! 20lbs for chest...I am impressed! I can sometimes do 15 during CTX upper body chest work, but I feel like my arms are going to fall off afterward. Good job!

Rhea, hope work is okay and you're getting your workouts in.

Must study. Oh, DH has a phone technical interview with that company today at 4pm. Hope everything goes well!

-Becky

Good Evening!:)

Geez, it's late again. It was IMAX3 for me today on a 4" step -- someday I'll graduate to that 6" step, but for now the 4" is good for me, I think.

Becky -- you and I both have HSC scheduled for tomorrow -- although I will probably do the shortened (56 or 57 minute version), as it should be a busy day for me tomorrow. Let's have fun, huh?

I'm procrastinating on the revisions. My editor seems to want to take the story in a direction I don't want to take -- and so I'm backing off getting down to work on them -- but I know I'll eventually HAVE to do it.x(

Jeanette -- I'm really impressed with 20# weight for the chest -- I don't even own 20# weights. The highest weight I have is 16# -- and that's on my bar -- but I keep trying to tell myself that I'm not trying to build muscle so much as tone and keep what I have... But it's probably time for me to increase my weights, too. I think I'll debate this for a while -- you're inspiring me again.

Okay, so I think this is so cool about your Grandma -- 92 and still dressed to the hilt. Yep, that's how I'd like to be -- but of course, I intend to still be working out, too. (Although maybe not the IMAX's at that age.)

Becky, I did a similar thing -- I went to the post office -- adn found it closed...

This weight is coming off hard -- and I'm determined to do it -- my clothes are all tight -- so this is a real inducement. So, yes, a couple of pounds this week.

Well, it's time to get to bed. Have a wonderful day tomorrow and super workouts. Oh, before I forget, hope that telephone interview went well. :7

Good morning,
Today's workout was S&H Back including planks and supermans and then I tacked on about 1/2 hour of Christi's Cardio Collectibles (Hi-Lo). I also have my last bike time trial tonite and I fear it will be windy so probably no time breaker tonite. I am looking at it as a training night (my one hard bike ride a week) so I'll just do the best I can.

Yesterday, I stacked all the wood my DH had split and then cleaned the camp trailer so I was happy with those accomplishments. Also worked on my bike, installing a new computer on it and installing the aero bars for tonite's time trial. After that, I went over to my parents and visited with my Grandma.

Becky and Karen, hope you guys have fun with your High Step workout today. Hope the phone interview goes well with your DH (Becky). I'm sure he'll do just fine.

Karen, I was pretty good on my eating yesterday and will stay the course today. Maybe together we can both lose a couple. Editor wants the story different? Aren't you the one writing it? That must be difficult to go in a direction you don't want to go in.

Hope everyone has good workouts today. Back to work, but 8 hour days all week (no Friday off :( )

Jeanette

Good morning ladies!

Last night I did a 30 minute run add-on on the elliptical while studying. This AM I did High Step Challenge. I really like that workout. Tonight I may add on some more elliptical stuff.

Karen, hope you HSC went well today too. Keep up the good work on that weight loss.

Jeanette, congrats on all those planks. They kill me.

Must get back to class.

Interview went great...we should be getting a hire letter by the end of the week!

-Becky

Good morning all!

Becky - so glad that the test is over and went well and that you should be getting a hire letter by the end of the week.

Karen - all I can say is wow, you've been busy and even got a kiss from the director!

Jeanette - you been just as busy. How do you fit it all in?

I was very bad and didn't workout a lick this weekend. Had too many other things to do. So today, I'm back on track and telling myslef I have to make time for the workouts too. I did golf a bit this weekend, but that really isn't much of a workout.

Well, I've got tons to do at work, no court for me this week! Yippee....., maybe I can catch up with all the little stuff.

Have a great day everyone!

Good Evening!:)

Was up late last night (early morning) -- until 5:30 AM -- had some sort of reaction of a hair dye and couldn't sleep, so I got up and worked. But because I only had about 4 hours of sleep last night, I didn't work out today -- drat!x(

Emailed my editor with my comments on her comments -- hesitated doing it -- but it's stalling this revision process, so I went ahead -- I might have misduplicated her intention -- easy enough to do.

Jeanette -- how did your time trial do? And a computer on your bike? Wow! What an age we live in.

Also how did it go with your grandma? Do you ever ask her to tell you stories. I bet she has a lot of them.

Becky -- great news on that interview -- I, too, like HSC -- wish I could have done it today -- not sure now if I do it tomorrow -- or just carry on with the rest of my rotation...we'll see tomorrow, I guess.

Rhea -- isn't it nice when you have time to catch up on the little things? I love that time. Sounds great not to have to go into court.

Well, tomorrow should be another busy day -- have to make up time for these revisions -- plan on getting up early -- for whatever reason, those early morning hours are my best writing time.

Have a super day tomorrow, everyone and terrific workouts!:7

Good morning,

My workout this morning was Muscle Max Lower Body Premix and then did about 1/2 hour of Christi Cardio Collectables (Step), just learning it so not much intensity. Lots of rewinding for me, but think I've got a couple of the combos.

Last night's bike time trial (our club's last for this year) had about 5 of us out there. It was a little windy so I didn't think I'd be breaking any of my previous records but figured it was my "hard workout" of the week so might as well do it anyway. Think I went out a little too fast and into a headwind so was winded faster but kept at it. It was also getting darker (6:30) but I had on a florescent jersey so think I was pretty visible. I couldn't see my speedometer (bike computer) very well but just kept pushing. Found out after I'd finished that my time was 36:10, beating my last time by 13 seconds. I was thrilled and this was a personal best for me. Glad I did it.

Becky, think you find out your scores from last week's exams today? Glad the phone interview went well with your DH. Keep up posted, okay?

Rhea, sorry you didn't get a workout in, but bet the golf was fun. I have tons of leaves that need to be raked and not sure when I'm going to get to them. Maybe they'll just blow over to the neighbors.

Karen, sorry you didn't get your workout in but that happens. Had a nice visit with Grandma night before last. Oh yeah, after I left my folks house, I was driving home (about 9:15 p.m.) and I got pulled over by a Sheriff! I was going 45 in a 25. He let me go, though and told me to slow down. I said thank you sir.

Got a haircut after work today. Good workouts everyone!

Jeanette

Good morning!

Wow Jeanette - a sheriff that let you go with a warning? He must have had his quotas for the day. Congrats on the time. I thought about you in that cold wind last night. It was tough for me to get warm last night. I don't think I am ready for the cold.

Becky....yeap, I think today's the day....I'm sure you did great! Let us know 'k?

Karen - I hope you are recovered from the all nighter. Isn't it funny how you can get certain types of work done at weird times? Sometime the best for me is the early evening, just before going home from work.

Well, ended up with no workout again yesterday. Just didn't feel like it. I think I drank too much caffeine yesterday morning. Was not feeling real great yesterday afternoon, had tremendous heartburn all day,so no workout. I'll try and get one in this afternoon during the lunch hour. I might strive (and I just mean strive since I am not a morning person) to get a short am workout in before work (and maybe I can keep it up with the time change in a couple of weeks)

Have great workouts everyone!

Good evening ladies.

Yeap, today was the day. Got my scores. Everything was great...except I got a B in pharmacology. Luckily it is only a 2 credit class. I am very happy though. That was one hard block!

Today I did LowMax. I know I have complained in the past about all the repeaters, but every time I do that one I like it a little more. I did enjoy it this morning.

Rhea, sorry you haven't been feeling good. I hope you got your workout in.

Jeanette, hope you enjoyed your haircut.

Karen, I hope you are feeling better today. What kind of reaction did you have?

Anyway, must get back to studying. Hope everyone has a great night.

-Becky

Good Evening!:)

Becky -- Am so glad to hear that you did well. I'd say a B is great! Especially in a tough subject. Yea!

I've felt the same way about LowMax, but maybe I should do it more often and it will grow on me. I'll have to give that a try.

Jeanette -- Am proud of you -- the way you pushed right through it -- and then beat your time, when you weren't even thinking that you would. Well done, Jeanette. How inspiring. And then to get pulled over by the sheriff and let go. How often does that happen?

I love haircuts, though I don't get them often. Love having someone else massage my scalp.

Rhea -- Am sorry to hear about your heartburn -- bummer. Hope it went away quickly and keeps gone. Did you do anything for it?

When my kids were young and I was working an 8AM - 4PM job each day, I used to get up at 6AM every day to exercise. I grew to love it. It was my own personal time set aside for just me. At first I had to make myself get up, and then I found myself getting up without even the aid of an alarm clock. So it's possible that you might really enjoy it.

Spoke to my editor today and we sorted through things. As it turns out, I had misduplicated her intentions and so my concern was really my own manufacture.:+ Nothing like good ole talking.

Oh, and Becky, the reaction I got from the hair dye was severe stomach gas -- am allergic to rosemary and this had an extract of rosemary in it -- thought I could get away with it since it was topical -- and rosemary gives me severe stomach gas every time. As it turns out, even just putting it on my skin gave me the allergic reaction.

But I'm allergic to many hair dyes. The stomach gas was mild in comparison to the chemical dyes that can give me asthma. So my brother-in-law went on line, and I've now ordered a completely non-chemical hair dye -- it has henna in it -- so we'll see how it does.

Okay, so again, here it is...late. And now that I understand what my editor wants, I'm anxious to go to bed, get up early and get alot of the work done.;)

Hope everyone has a super day and wonderful workouts.:7

Good morning ladies.

Karen, so glad to hear your reactions wasn't anaphylaxis! I am glad your brother-in-law found a new suitable dye. How annoying that must have been!

Last night I got really antsy and didn't feel like doing the elliptical so I did BodyBlast Series timesaver #1 minus the weight work. I felt much better after that.

This AM I did HSTA. I need to do some abs later today after class, probably the abs only premix from bootcamp.

Rhea and Jeanette, hope you both have great workouts today.

Must go get ready for class. Hope everyone has a great day!

-Becky

Good morning ladies,

So good to hear from everyone. Just love this check in. Today's workout was S&H Shoulders and then CTX 10-10-10. Just right. I always am so surprised by CTX how it gets my heart rate up. Fun, short workout. Today is a 1 hour or less bike ride after work and before my bike club meeting at 6:00.

Rhea, hope the heartburn is gone. My DH gets acid reflux and takes Prilosec but has pretty much figured out what causes it for him so he's cut down on the Prilosec he takes. Hope you can get a workout in or at least figure out a time when it's best.

Becky, way to go on your scores!! Knew you would do well. Timesaver DVD huh? I have that one and once in a while I'll pull it out. It's what helped me get started out with Cathe so I have a fond spot for it.

Karen, glad you were able to sort thru stuff with your editor and be pointed in the right direction. Bet you'll really get with it on your revisions now. Sorry for the allergies. Severe gas, yuk!! I feel fortunate that I am only allergic to avocado (makes my lips itch), think that's about it. I love scalp massages too. I don't even remember the scalp massage at my last one as I fell sound asleep. My favorite parts to be massaged are my scalp, hands, feet and face.

Oh yeah, I think maybe I didn't get a ticket because my daughter-in-law is a Sheriff's Office dispatcher and the officer must have clicked on the name when he saw my license. That's what DH and my 2 sons think. Just glad I didn't get a ticket and I'm being more careful of my speeds.

Must run now,

Jeanette

Good morning!

Yep, heartburn is all gone, well mostly. I haven't noticed it, how's that?

Got to work out yesterday. Ended up having to a short workout. When I got to my house, my in-laws were there picking fruit, so I had to visit for a while. After they left, I did the Turbo Jam Remix Live...a 30 minute workout with two turbos. Great workout. I must have really gotten into it because my average hr was 140! However, I was not paying attention and was punching a little too hard, especially on the hook punches. I worked the upper back muscles so much that they cramped up and gave me a wonderful muscle tension headache by 3:00 in the afternoon. My rhomboids hurt a bit today too. At least sleep took away the headache. Today, yoga is on the menu. I've decided to try doing yoga every other day for a while to get some flexibility in....hopefully I'll stick to this.

Anyhoo....have a great day everyone. Becky - great grades BTW. I knew you would kick @#$.

Karen - don't work too hard today.

Jeanette - have fun on your bike ride tonight. Hopefully it won't be too windy.

Good Morning!:)

Thought I'd log on early today instead of late.

Last night, forgot to mention that I'd done the first part of Body Max -- the cardio section and then a stretch. Love the warm up on that workout. And today it was the full version of ME -- again, one of my favorites.

So now I'm looking at the rest of the day to get some work done.

Becky -- HSTA is a challenging workout, even without the abs. I was sore for days after I'd done it recently.

Jeanette -- Every time you mention the CTX series, I drool. I really do need to start saving up for it. In fact, I think I'll start. You know, I think I'd add back to those body parts I like massaged. But the scalp and face are just heavenly.:) Made me smile when you said you'd fallen asleep at the hairdresser.

Have fun on your ride tonight. What a great way to get out into the environment. Sometimes when I'm really bogged down with work -- I rarely leave the house.

I love cooming to this check-in, as well. It's always a bright spot in my day.

Rhea -- hope you're feeling better. Like I said in my last post, when my kids were little and I had to get up around 5:30 AM to exercise, I grew to love that time of day. Maybe it will work for you.

Well, have a terrific day everyone and super workouts.:7

Yeah Karen, But the problem is the getting up the first few times....bed wins most of the time...okay...all of the time!

Happy Friday ladies,

Today's workout was Slow & Heavy Biceps and then Christi Taylor's Cardio Collectables - Step. Got a good burn on the biceps and forearms. I made it thru the whole step workout. Think the reason I like these so well is they are more complex so helps mentally for me (less boredom) and she doesn't have you do the steps right on the beat (hope I'm saying that right). Fun, fun, fun! I didn't do it with any risers as I want to learn it first. Now that I've got it, I'll add a riser next time. Yesterday was a 45 minute bike ride after work, good spin mostly, no heavy exertion. Nice weather and not much wind either.

Karen, I laughed when you wrote that I fell asleep during the haircut. It wasn't the haircut, it was a massage that I fell asleep at. That would be a sight, wouldn't it, me asleep in the chair at the salon, with all those other ladies around me LOL! But I do love scalp massages. Know you enjoyed ME, that biceps work is a killer! Haven't pulled that one out in a while. I'll be on this one body part a day rotation for another couple of weeks.

Rhea, glad the heartburn and headache are gone. Sorry about the pulled muscles giving you a headache. No fun. Bet it's fun for you to hear the music in the Turbo Jams again. I like Chalene's personality.

Becky, hope we hear from you today. Congrats again on the good grades.

Must go now. Have to grocery shop after work. Have my niece's wedding to attend tomorrow. Looking forward to it.

Must run,

Jeanette

Good evening ladies! Happy Friday!

Last night I ended up adding on some time on the elliptical machine while studying. I ended up not getting around to doing abs yesterday since I fell asleep right after getting home for class and didn't wake up for 2 hours! It sure felt good, but threw my studying off (hence not doing abs)

Today I did KM in its entirety and then did the abs I was supposed to do yesterday (core only premix from Bootcamp).

Rhea, hope you enjoyed that yoga today. I love yoga.

Karen, hope you had a good workout today.

Jeanette, sounds like you had a pretty tough workout today. Good job.

Oh, and DH got the job! and he'll be making more than he is now! So, we're celebrating tonight by going out to dinner and then a movie.

Hope everyone has a great day!

-Becky
