KK's August Check In

Good Mornin,

Mandy, How did it go with your doctor? Did he give you the green light to exercise? Life is very busy with little ones. I look back and don't know how I did it. Michael Phelps is amazing! Not only getting medals, but breaking world records. WOW! Love to watch the Olympics.

KK, I'm so glad your last book was such a success. You are something, a very special person. Thank you for the motivation. My DH and I will be watching our grandson for 5 days. Won't be near a computer to write, but will bring along some hand stuff I can do instead. My goal now is to get this book into the publishers by Fall. I think it's doable by then. It's a little hard to keep motivated when everyone around you I know and respect tells me I may not get it published. The "Big Soap Companies" may have something to say about what I write. I believe in it though so I have to keep an ear closed and continue on. You lost stuff you have been writing? Oh my! Do you backup your work? My DH scolds me when I don't.

Jeanette, I Like what you pick out as far as exercises go. Do you do cardio everyday? I'll tell ya, I'll never complain about working out again. When you can't it's a whole new way of looking at things. I think I'm gaining 2 pounds a week. YUCK! I'll get through this when I can exercise again.

Rhea, Sounds like you and your hubby are meant for each other. Hope you get a job over there (where your DH is). Poor guy. Since I've been laid up, my DH won't exercise without me. Just a little in the morning is all. Not enough to make a difference. Being stressed out does all kinds of things to our bodies. Glad you can work on your next trial with out to much stress.

Will see my PS surgeon next Tuesday. Can't wait, I'm getting a red look around my nipple. Let's hope it's nothing. I'm always looking for something to worry about. Jeesh!

Hi Tammy. How are your workouts doing?

Janie

Good News!

Well, I just got back from the PS and I got cleared to start exercising again!! I am so excited!!! No more binder either. I just have to 'ease' back into it...Hopefully I can post more later, I have to run again!!! I think I am busier now the kids are back in school than when they were home!

Good evening!

Mandy - so glad that you are back to exercising! I bet that feels good.

I may have sidelined myself for a while. I was doing great today, having fun working out to Still Jumpin and my left calf started cramping. So I try to keep working through it and then there was a bit more pain and I had to stop. I'm walking with a limp now. I'm hoping that it was just a nasty cramp and not anything to do with my achilles tendon. It hurts in the middle of the calf and there is no tenderness at the heel. Keeping my fingers crossed. But no aerobics for me, rats, rats, rats.

Hope everyone else is doing fine!

Talk to you later. Time to go do bills.....whoo hoo, I'm so excited...not.

Just wanted everyone to know that I will be gone to babysit my grandson and will be back on the Aug. 18th Mon. I just looked at my calendar and realized we had this plan in place for a very long time. Glad I looked at my calendar. Talked with the kids to confirm it. Need to pack, water the garden and all that stuff. So, off we go DH and I, tomorrow afternoon. See ya on Mon. then.

Good Evening!

Wow! Seems there's a lot going on. First I did do another workout tonight -- just gotta keep trying with this weight. So it was CTX 10-10-10 and then I did Basic Step tonight. Mandy, I think that's a good one for starting back in the swing of things. We'll see what the scale says tomorrow.

Anyway, I have a new problem. I'm having to use public washer and dryers and I'm allergic to perfume, which is in those dryer sheets. I use perfume free laundry and at home I have dryer sheets that have no chemicals and no perfumes. So I came home from the laundry mat and noticed that everything has an odor. I couldn't figure it out -- then I realized it's in the dryers themselves. Those perfumes in those sheets are so strong that they remain long after the person who used them is gone. Now I have to rewash and dry all my clothes. I think I'll go to another newer laundry mat and try that one. What a problem to have, huh? And I have no sheets for tonight. Goodness!

Anyway, Jeanette, don't you love that KPC cardio workout? How was the bike ride? I also think moving dirt qualifies as a workout. : )

Rhea, yes, I have that happen sometimes, too, that my DH calls when I'm least expecting it. But I've been gone so much this year and so miss him so much, that for now, I drop everything else to talk to him. : ) At first I didn't, but now...

Calf muscles huh? Geez, that's a bummer. Are you taking enough calcium and magnesium a day? Especially magnesium? And then I'm wondering -- if it's really that hot, are you getting salt -- not table salt as that stuff is pure poison -- but a good Celtic sea salt or something similar? Let us know how you're doing.

Oh, by the way, what does it mean when a trial is dismissed? Is that it for the whole trial? Case dismissed? If so, that sounds terrific!

Mandy, so glad that you can exercise again. Yea!

Janie, am glad that you are watching the Olympics. I'm afraid I don't have TV, nor time to watch it right now. That Phelps sounds stunning. Hope that thing with your nipple is okay. Can you call your doctor and ask, just to make sure?

And we will miss you while you're off babysitting. But the babysitting sounds good.

Oh, don't let other's opinions daunt you. I long ago learned to not listen to those around me and their opinions of what I do for a living -- of course then I wasn't puiblished. And even now to this day, I don't read reviews unless they're sent to me directly and I don't listen to what people say to discourage me. Learned long ago that when you work on deadline like I do, that you just can't afford to question yourself and your own work. I used to lose weeks of work because people's opinions would so get me down.

So I skip the whole thing. : )

Hi Tammy!

Have a super day, everyone.

Good morning,
Today was GS Legs Timesaver Premix (the longer one). Felt it good today. I need to get a new DVD player as mine keeps freezing, and I clean it about every other day it seems now. Just need to go get a newer one as this one's probably 5-6 years old now I think. Last night's bike hill climb was a good workout. Then came home and did a little more shoveling. Tonite is golf with a girlfriend, then shopping afterwards. I'm having to go in to the office an hour earlier for a while, but will get off an hour earlier too so that's good.

Karen, so sorry about the perfumes in the laundromat. Hope you can find another one to go to. I need to start back on the calcium. I had a terrible leg cramp the other evening. Woke me up, went clear down the inside of my left leg. Awful pain and then was sore all the next day. I just don't like taking pills, but know I need to get back on my vitamin, evening primrose, calcium.

Janie, have a great time babysitting. We'll miss you but will be here when you get back to us. How's the garden? Producing well?

Rhea, sorry about the calf. Hope it's not serious. Yep, been warmer lately. I work out early (between 4 and 5 a.m. this morning) and I have to have the ceiling fan going and the back door open. Don't think I could do it later on.

Mandy, glad you got the okay to proceed with exercise. Take it easy getting back to it.

Jeanette

Karen,
I have the same problem. We use perfume free detergents, well everything at my house. I have a problem that the smell can trigger migranes for me. And if anyone has on a really stout perfume/cologne...well it's all over. When my kids were infants, I had a strict no perfume rule to hold them. There was something about my hormones combined with the smell, just not a good situation.
I am so nervous about working out again. I might start with a good jog and ease back into weight work. I am afraid some of Cathe's intricate choreography might make me twist the wrong way. Uh, anyway. I'll try a little bit and over the next couple weeks, I'll work my way back.
Well, my one year old is ready for her nap, so I'll talk to everyone later. Have a great Wednesday!
Mandy

Good morning!

Well, I'm a bit better this morning. At least I can almost walk normally. Can't believe how sore it was last night. I did take some Nightly Calm which is a magnesium supplement. I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping it is only a muscle pull, not a tendon tear. Last night I wasn't so sure. So it will be a weight workout this evening. Not sure what, but whatever I do, no calf work.

Have fun with your grandson Janie!

Jeanette - it was really warm yesterday and again this morning. I'm missing the fog of the city already and I don't even live there. lol Have fun at golf tonight.

Mandy - I know how it is to start over. My projects tend to sideline me from working out so it seems like I always am starting over. Unfortunatlely I usually go to much to early and wear myself out. Take it easy! Maybe one of Cathe's beginner rotations would be good for a little while to get you back into the swing of things?

I had better skedaddle.....(sp?)... is that even a word? Hmm, anyhoo, have a great day!

Hmm, just a post playing with the smilies and fonts and stuff.
:p

So much fun to change things around:confused:

Everybody must be busy today....I'm obviously procrastinating again here at work, playing at the forum instead of prepping for trial  This is much more fun at the moment.

Well, I supposed I should get going.....work is really calling..err:D

Good Evening!

Okay, Rhea, how did you get the sniles into the main post -- whenever I do it, it just changes the first one. Just tried it again, but all it did again was change the top one.

Mandy, scents can trigger magraines with me, too, but what I really don't like is that sometimes they can trigger asthma -- did I spell that right. So I went and rewashed everything -- and cleaned out the driers and came back and they are still scented -- maybe even more so now. Goodness -- unfortunately, I have to use public washers and driers. I have got to see if I can find some place that is a little more "no scent" oriented. I'm thinking of going out and buying a clothes line and putting it up in my little apartment. Once again, it will be a night with no sheets. Goodness!

Jeanette, did you have fun with golf and shopping? Bet you did. It sounds like fun. Yeah, I think my DVD player at home is going to need to be replaced as well. The one here in Florida is almost new and so it's doing okay right now. Great on GS Legs. Jeanette, for those leg cramps, it's often more a magnesiuim deficiency rather than a calcium deficiency. Not always. But usually I think.

Rhea, I use that Calm, as well -- only mine has calcium in it as well -- but it says Calm -- not Night Calm. Glad to hear that the calf calmed down. One little point about magnesium that I was reading about at one of the Health sites that I go to occasionally, is that magnesium can often "turn off" a heart attack. That's a nice datum to know.

Miss you already Janie. Hi Tammy!

It was CTX Intervals for me today and then tonight, I did cardio (the first part) from Step Works. It's a nice 30 minute or so cardio workout. The weight was down maybe 1/2 pound today but it is like fighting upstream. Not sure why it's so difficult, but I guess I just keep workinig at it.

Well, have a super day, everyone. : )

Morning,
Today was GS Back, Shoulders, Biceps. My arms are toasty now. I left out the wrist curls. Had had enough! Tonite is a haircut and color, then housework when I come home.

Karen, interesting about the magnesium. I have some "calm" stuff too so should make the hot tea with it and try it. I got a DVD player last night, but having difficulty connecting it to my satellite receiver because of connectors. DS will be over tonite to help.

Rhea, glad your ouchy isn't too bad. Yep, Skedaddle is a word, as in the Skedaddle Mtn. north of here. Fog? I usually hate it, especially when it's so thick. Scares me to drive in it, though I don't mind looking at it thru the window of my house. I'm always glad we don't get much of it up here.

Mandy, have fun easing back into it.

Must run,

Good morning!

Karen - to get those smilies available to use in your post, coe to the User CP, Edit options and then scroll all the way down to the misc. section. Then hit the arrow and chose the option for enhanced somethingorother. Don't forget to hit the button on the bottom to make the changes stick.
When you do that, you get to change all kinds of things during your post, color, font and smilies. There is also a thread in the Open discussion, I think, with the directions. That is where I learned to get the smilies.

Let's see , the workout yesterday was GS legs. But I didn't do the entire workout. I skipped anything to do with the calves and my legs were pretty fried by the end, so I skipped the outer thigh stuff too. I wanted to be able to walk today. I used my regular weight, maybe a little more. I already feel the DOMS and it hasn't been 24 hours, so It is probably good that I skipped a few. I think I"m following you Jeanette in the workouts since I am planning on either GS back and biceps today. I might not do so much with the shoulder workout. I might substitute the 10 minute by TH for that. There you use only the resistance band and the type of exercises seem to be okay for my shoulder without too much modification.

Well, I had better get to work, no court today, so must make good use of the time.
Hi to everyone else!

Talk to you later and have great days.

Good Afternoon!

In the interest of getting to bed earlier, I'm checking in earlier. :p

Oh, my gosh, Rhea, that did work. Yea!

Jeanette, I had a hair trim today, as well, but I did it myself. I called the hair place but when I couldn't make an appointment, I took the sizzors to my own hair -- which isn't always a very wise move -- but I really wanted to change a few things. Hope you like your cut. Hair is one of those things that's tough for me. I think it's why I leave my hair long -- I really don't know what to do with it when it's short and I end up in front of the mirror much too long.

Looks like you're doing really well on your rotation. Am almost back to normal now on the workouts after being gone from it for so long so hopefully I'll be able to do some of the Cathe rotations soon.

Rhea, thanks so much for walking me through that. :) I really missed those cute little faces. Looks like you're doing well on your workouts, too, and am so glad that the calf muscle isn't holding you back.

It was CTX All Step for me today and tonight, I'm planning another short cardio. Am so discouraged on my weight. I gained back the 1/2 lb. I lost the other day. Sigh...

Hi Mandy -- hope you're getting back into your workouts well.

Hi Tammy and Janie, if you can log on to read the posts.

Have a super rest of the day, everyone. :D

Morning,
Today was Amy Bento's Hi/Lo Dome cardio for 2 plus combos, then abs from Cardio & Weights. I have golf and a bike ride with friends around Almanor planned for tomorrow. Then gold panning with DH. Sunday will be working early before it gets hot on the back yard.

Karen, the haircut and color yesterday turned out well. I go every 5 weeks so she stays on top of it. I've had the same hairstyle pretty much forever it seems. Long hair doesn't look good on me, drags me down so I stick with short. Hope you enjoyed All Step.

Rhea, I was feeling GS Legs a bit yesterday. It's a long one, isn't it? I usually do a premix on it. I sure like to keep my workouts under an hour.

Hi to everyone else,

Good morning!

:DYep, I was feeling the GS legs yesterday too. A little in the am and then a lot in the afternoon when I tried to stand up from a chair. Got myself good and deep in the rear. I did not do the whole workout too, I skipped a bunch since I heavied up on the barbell.

Yesterday I did GS shoulders, back and biceps. I skipped the last shoulder exercises so not to hurt the shoulder. But I heavied up...for me that is...used 10-12 lbs for most of the workout, except the shoulders. I have to make myself do heavier since I know I can lift more and have really been wimpy about it. I want to do the 1rm this weekend for some of the exercises.

Today will be a yoga stretch day since I have a massage this morning. Don't want to ruin the effects of a deep tissue rub.

It is so hot here  This morning when the cat got me up at 5;20 (that's as long as I was allowed to stay snuggled under the covers) it was already 67 degrees and the sun hadn't even peeped! Not going to be cool today.

Glad you found the smilies Karen. Now we can have all kinds of fun. I forget to change the color of the font and the type of font. But when I have more time, I'll have to get crazy.

This weekend is a lot of yardwork for me. I think the lawn is about 6 inches high. It is going to take a while. There are tons of weeds too. I'm hoping that it cools down a bit. Or I might just have to do work in the am and then take naps in the afternoon. Hmm, that sounds sort of good.

Have a great day everyone!

ps. Did you hear that they moved the Harry Potter Half Blood Prince opening to July of next year? Oh, that just irritates me and makes me sad.:(

Good Afternoon!

Am checking in early again today cause it's Friday and I know we seldom post over the weekend.

Today was CTX Kickbox for me -- tomorrow I plan the legs, which I think is kinda a hard legs workout. But that's okay. I can really use it.

Had an awakening today that the neighborhood I've moved into might not be a great one. Was talking to a neighbor -- oh, dear. We'll see. It's really a cute place, so I hope that the neighborhood just calms down a little. And it's so much more affordable for me.

Jeanette, so glad that you like the Amy Bento's workout. Panning for gold, huh? My DH and my BIL used to mine for gold here in California. It was many years ago, but I love to hear their stories about mining for gold. They had a few adventures. Have fun with that. And have fun with your friends and bike ride.

Glad you like your hair cut -- it's always something that I dread for me.

Rhea, yes, I really like these little faces. I'm going to have to look further into it, as well. That's great that you have some DOM's. At least you know it's working. Yardwork sounds like...work. Hope it goes well, Rhea.

Hi Mandy! Hi Janie, if you can check on!

Have a super weekend.:D

Good Morning!

Goodness! I just lost my post.
So here we go again.

It was CTX legs for me yesterday and then last night I did a short cardio from Power Max. Am still not losing much weight, but this program is at least keeping my weight from shooting up overnight.

Anyway, I thought I would figure out my rotation for next week early so as to get to bed earlier each day. So here goes:

Mon: IMAX3
Tues: Muscle Max -- premix
Wed: BM2 beginning cardio only plus a stretch with Cathe
Thurs: HSC -- premix -- can't do a routine over an hour righ tnow
Fri: Drill Max -- cardio only -- 8 intervals
Sat: Body Fusion from the Basic Step DVD
Sun: Off

Well, that's all for now. Hope you are all having a super weekend. I'm going to end now and hopefully color my hair -- which needs it pretty bad. Have a terrific rest of the weekend and a great Monday. :D

Good morning,
Hope everyone had a good weekend. Our bike ride around a local lake was very nice on Saturday. Didn't golf as we couldn't get an early tee time. Worked around the house/patio project yesterday, then golfed in the evening.

Today was a golf fitness video and lots of stretching.

Rhea, glad it's cooling down. Heard thunder this morning.

Karen, hope you stay safe in your neighborhood. The leg workout is Leaner Legs, isn't it? That one is a doozy. DH panned for gold on Saturday, but only got a couple teeny bits. I just sat there and read a magazine and relaxed.

Not sure what's on tap after work today.

Good morning!

Well, got a new video this weekend. What fun....Christi Taylor put out a total body workout called Fit to Dance or Dance to Fit...something like that. It is so much fun. I only did part of it Sat...calf started in a bit. But yesterday...whoo hoo. The cardio is more dancey, but I love that. The latin step section was just too fun. So fun that I almost rewound it to do it again. But I'm glad I didn't because the total workout is about 70 minutes. It is set up so you can pick and choose what sections you want. Any way, I think GS legs or Leaner legs is in the mix today.

I heard the thunder last night too! Over my noisy swamp cooler. It was still pretty darn warm this morning. I hope it cools down a bit more. Then the afternoon workouts won't be so darn bad.

Hi to everyone! Should really get back to work....trial this week. EEk.

Good Morning!

It was IMAX3 for me today. I sure hope that I'm going to be able to continue my workouts here. The fellow downstairs had a complaint and said that his ceiling was coming in because of the workouts. I'm hoping that my workouts are not the cause. I hope. I hope.

Anyway, it appears there is a storm, she is a brewing here off the coast of Florida and my local farmers (who I buy my food from) won't be making their usual runs. Wow, that's interesting. It is sunny and bright here today, but apparently, there's something brewing. Hopefully it won't come this way.

Jeanette, that bike ride sounds fun and am glad your DH had fun panning for gold. It's something my DH would certainly like.

Rhea, that workout really does sound like fun, Rhea. I think I was looking at that online cause even the short of it looked like fun and the music seemed fun. I didn't purchase it cause it was 70 minutes long, but she does do it so there's segments? If so, that just might be the next workout DVD that I get.

Hi Mandy and Janie and Tammy!

Have a super day everyone!:)
