KK's August Check In

Good Day!

I know when we were younger we didn't start back until the end of August. Now with all of the new No Child Left Behind and different initiatives, there is no more summer!!
Thanks everybody for the well wishes. I feel great. I am still walking three miles a day on the treadmill and using resistance bands. I have 'leaned' up so much. My backside is flat again, Ha. I miss my squats and legwork!
Hopefully, I be able to do more next week. I'll know Tuesday.
Yes, my three keep me on my toes. I got a little sad last night that my son is starting Kindergarten and my daughter is in preschool. I only have one at home. They are growing up too fast!!

Hi Everybody!

Well, I survived my brother and his family's visit. It was fun for them to be here but I didn't get anything done. No workouts and no riding. My husband and I did shovel almost 25 tons of stone (yes, TONS) for the concrete pad we are putting out in front of the house. Luckily he got the truck really close to where it had to be so we didn't have to move it far. I just helped him shovel it into the wheelbarrow. I made him push it. LOL. They come Friday morning to pour the first part.

Anyway, as soon as they pulled away from the house this morning, I was racing upstairs to my workout area. I think I was in Cathe withdrawal. I did ME this morning. I love that workout so that was a good one to start back with. I'm sure I'll be sore tomorrow. I wanted to start a new strength rotation but decided to take a week or so to get back into the swing of things.

Mandy and Janie: It sounds like your recoveries are progressing. Janie, I hope your appointment went well yesterday. Mandy, I vaguely remember those back to school days. Our youngest turns 21 this year so it has been awhile since we had to do that, and I swear senility is already setting in for me.

Meowracer: Hope you have a wonderful vacation!

Hi to everyone else.

Tammy

Hi all,

Good to see more wonderful people on this forum.

Jeanette, I one day will love to do a Cathe rotation. Good for you. How is it going for you? Have great bike rides. Continue having successful workouts and golfing.

Rhea, sorry about you not being able to golf the rest of the year, I know how much you enjoy it. I think you are doing great with the workouts, since you are so busy right now.

Karen, you are coming along wonderfully aren't you? Your hand soon will be just as before, just give it a little more time. The more class time the sooner you can come home. You are doing great. How's Georgie doing? Love your words of encouragement. Good luck on your avatar.

Mandy, your backside will catch up with the rest of your lean body soon enough. Tell us when you get the OK from your doc when you can do full workouts. 3 miles a day on the treadmill, WOW! That's amazing to me.

Meowracer, continue to have a great vacation, we are here when you get home.

Tammy, 25 tons of stones! YIKES! You must look very good. How big will the concrete pad be? What are you planing to put there? I'm in a Cathe withdrawal also. Nothing wrong in slipping back into the workouts slowly. Just make sure you do stretches.

My PS surgeon came into the room I was waiting in and I told him I think I've lost my nipple. Told him that I'm nearing 60 and I don't have anyone to impress anymore and it dosen't bother me that badly. He says let me see what is happening and then I'll tell you what is going on. He examined me and said I maybe losing a part of my nipple, but really can't tell until later while it is healing. I told him I found so much scary things on the internet and it really bothered me that perhaps I would need another surgery. He said no surgery. It's a matter of being patient and keeping a close eye on my nipple and making sure I rub antibiotics on it 2 to 3 times a day. He told me what to look out for as infection goes but he didn't think there will be any at all.

Here is the bad news, (which I can live with) while my nipple is trying to heal I will need 3 months of recovery instead of 8 weeks. So 3 months without exercising is the deal. It will go slow, I most likely will gain weight. But, there is no more surgeries and no more silicone implants. I am healthy and it will take time (for me and my situation) to heal the correct way to have a great recovery.

That's it guys, I'm on my way, no more worries, just healing. YEAH!

Have pleasant days everyone,

Janie

Janie...

Just wanted to pop in and tell you that it is great that you are on your way to recovery. Sorry to hear about not being able to workout for three whole months. Wow, can you at least still get some walking in? I think I would go nuts if I could not workout that long. Hang in there! Have a great weekend.

Rhea, my PS says I can walk to see a neighbor and talk about 10 min. but back home I go. Same with shopping, get what you need, skip the sales and get out of there and back home. At home putter around the house, do dishes, pick raspberries...but come back in and rest a while, and can do it one more time. No exercises, no walking for 3 miles, not even one mile. Putter will be my middle name until October 24 or he says I can, whatever comes first.

I know, I hate the idea that I can't exercise for that long. I will gain weight and blubber, but watch out when I can, I'll make up for it before New Years Day and beyond.

Patience is not what I do well, but in order to recover fully, then I will do it.

I'll hoot and holler (cheer leader) for you all though.

Take care,

Janie

Good Afternoon!

It was Intensity Series Boot Camp for me today. I love that workout. But then the Intensity series is probably my most favorite series.

Mandy -- it's been a while since my kids were in school -- they are off on their own now -- and so I don't know what the "no child left behind" does to the schedules -- why does it dissrupt the regular schedule so much do you think? I remember when my kids went off to school -- I still remember the day I was able to leave my daughter a note that she would get and be able to read. What a win that was. Also 3 miles a day is great. My god-daughter home schools her kids -- it's a state regulated program that she loves -- but she also loves having her kids with her all day and seeing to their education herself. I wish -- when my kids were little that it had been more available -- or at least that I would have heard about it.

Tammy -- ME is one of my most favorite workouts. ME, IMAX2, Boot Camp, Cardio & weights -- I love the Intensity series. I think shoveling 25 tons of concrete qualifies for a workout, as well.

Janie -- well done for hanging in there, Janie. This, too, will pass. And when you think of it 3 months is only 4 more weeks longer than the 8 weeks, pretty much. Think of all the reading and writing you can get done. Wow, think about the writing you could accomplish. My thoughts are with you.

Rhea, have a good time with your hubby in the SF area. And have fun job hunting.

Hi Jeanette! That's right, you are doing the Cathe rotation, aren't you?

Well, it's already late afternoon and I have so much to get done. Have a super day everyone. : )

I did it!

Okay, I realize this is probably not a big deal for the rest of you, but I managed to upload a picture. Yea! : )

It's crazy, all the kindergarteners do is read, read, read. I know that is extremely important. But that is all they do. Hardly anything else. My mother is a kindergarten teacher and she does not like the new cirriculum at all. No wonder other nations are passing our children, even teachers don't like what is happening. I try to encourage mine to find what they like and that is what I do with them. My son loves dinosaurs, so we read about them, explore them, watch History channel. anything I can do to feed their brains!
Anyway, sorry if my posts become sporadic, my computer has become so slow and my computer genius cousin is out of town!!
Janie, the other month will fly by! Remember Patience is a virtue. (I too have a problem with being patient).
Hope everybody is having a good week. Tomorrow is Friday, yeah!
My son's first day of kindergarten got cut short due to bad weather, maybe tomorrow!! Oh, yeah squeezed that treadmill time in today!! Yeah (I need that time to myself)
Mandy

Hi all,
Think I forgot to post that yesterday I did part of a step workout, then let DH have the TV to watch the news. After work, he and I worked on the back yard project.

Today was Pyramid Lower Body up premix, plus Coremax #1 abs. Tonite is a golf lesson and I also have an eye dr. appointment middle of the day.

Mandy, do you homeschool? 2 of my sisters homeschooled their kids. Boys seem to really enjoy the dinosaurs.

Karen, WTG on getting the Avatar up! Knew you could do it! Great job on Boot Camp!! I like those 1 minute intervals.

Janie, sure hope the doctor is right and you don't lose anything. Know you will listen and take care of yourself. Is Joey working on the garden by himself now? Yep, maybe you can devote more time to writing.

See everyone on Monday.

Good Mornin,

KK, I've started writing again today. You all are such great motivators. I love your avatar!

Mandy, I agree about the kinder gardeners , they need a variety of things for stimulating their brains. Not just reading. I have to remember patience is a virtue at certain times.

Jeanette, what is your backyard project? I forget. How is Cathe rotation going for ya?

Hi Rhea and Tammy.:)

Take care everyone and have great workouts this weekend. Talk to you again on Monday.

Janie

Good Afternoon!

It was the cardio only from 4DS Bootcamp for me today. I love those intervals. Then I went in early for a massage on my hand -- it was good. Still needs some work -- I just have to really work this hand.

Mandy, you are so right. They need more than just one thing if they are to develop well. My god-daughter really loves home schooling. Like I said, I wish I had been able to do that when my kids were young. At the time, I didn't even know it was available. My god-daughter says that the curriculum is part of the over-all Los Angeles school system and she absolutely loves it. Great on getting that treadmill done.

Jeanette, I love the Pyramid DVD. But then the Intensity Series is my most favorite series -- next in line would be CTX, I think. I'm going to have to start doing that extra workout a day in order to get my weight back down to where I want it. I love to eat, unfortunately. : ) Have fun with the golf lesson -- hope the eye appointment goes well, also.

Janie, you'll up and about before you know it, I think. Hang in there. Am so glad that you started your writing again. Oh, I just heard from my editor who told me that she really likes the book that I just turned in. Deep sigh. Thank goodness. Go to it, Janie!

Hi Rhea & Hi Tammy.

Am letting Georgie (the cat I resued here in Florida) out for about 45 minutes to 1 hour a day -- just until I make sure that he knows where he lives and can get home, then I'll let him out more often. There are lots of dogs around here so I need to be a little careful.

Have a super day everyone.

Good Evening!

Just wanted to post that I actually did get in a workout tonight -- we'll see if it helps the weight. Did CTX Intervals -- cardio only tonight -- about 30 minutes. Tomorrow, I plan Cardio & Weights. Will probably do another workout tomorrow night as well. I went to my neighbors to make sure it was okay for me to workout late in the evening. Thank goodness they didn't mind (they live below me).

Have a super evening!

Good Evening!

Just my regular Sunday night post to kinda go over the week ahead and plan.

I've been putting in extra workouts at night -- having trouble with my weight -- tonight I did CTX 10-10-10. Sure hope the weight comes down. I always feel better when it's a little lighter than it is right now.

Okay so for next week, I think I'll do CTX workouts. I love them and they are short and I'm trying to get more time in on course so for this week, I think it will be the CTX rotation. Pretty easy planning. : )

Have a super day tomorrow everyone! : )

Good morning,
Today was Muscle Max Timesaver, without abs. I will do those tomorrow with my cardio (think I have cardio tomorrow). Had a nice weekend. Hope everyone else did too. Did a bike ride yesterday with another rider - 28 miles. Nice.

Janie, our project is putting in a 12X36 patio area next to our deck. We will be putting pavers down in that area. Right now, we're just moving the dirt out of that area. We have some shoveling to do tonite. Cathe rotation is going well, though I'm a day or so behind on it.

Karen, glad the massage felt good on the hand. I like my hands, feet and face massaged probably more than back and legs.

Great workouts today. I have to go have a new retainer made after work. I lost my 31 year old retainer, must have thrown it away.

Good morning!

Just a fast hi before I bury myself in the work for the day. Tiring weekend and I wanted to stay down there, but I came back. Darn paycheck, gets me every time. I have a really busy two weeks ahead of me, so I may not be posting as much. I"ll probably be reading everyday though....

Talk to you later.

Good Monday Morning!

KK, So glad you enjoyed your hand message. Will you be able to do it again? How's Georgie doing outside? Is he sticking around OK? You think you have problems with weight. I'm getting bigger everyday. I'm going to really have to be careful what I eat, lately I look at what I eat and gain the weight. Jeesh! This is a challenge for me. You are so considerate of your neighbors. No wonder I like you! I bet they appreciated the heads up before you exercised. Love your exercising plan for this week. I miss doing 10-10-10. Oh don't mind me, I'm babbling on. I'm so greatful that I'm healthy. My turn will come this Fall, and I will take advantage of my workouts then. My Joey is still losing weight. He got into a size 34 pant. I'm so very proud of him. He is doing minimal workouts without me. I can't wait to workout with him again. He looks so good.

Jeanette, glad to see you had a nice weekend. A 28 mile bike ride, WOW! You always "WOW" me. I'm so proud of you. The patio sounds like a big project. I just bet your home looks awesome. You both take care of it so well.:D

Rhea, I know how it goes when you need to bury yourself in work. Sometimes it's a must, other times you just have to. Hope it dosen't consume you to the point you don't have any time for yourself. Hear from you when you can. Take care.:)

Mandy and Tammi, did you have great weekends? What workouts did you both do?

I'm still motivated in my writing and been doing it all weekend long. The book is comming along quite nicely now. Also been watching the Olympics on TV. They are awesome to watch.

Have a great day everyone,

Janie

Hi everyone,
Sorry, Things have been so crazy around here! Go here, run there, pick up, drop off, repeat! Hope everything is going well with everyone. Tomorrow is doctor day, so hopefully the report will be good and maybe I can add a little more than walking to my agenda.
Took Friday off, Got three miles in on Sat, Sun and Today. But besides that I've been watching the most amazing Michael Phelps, I want my son to be like that one day! He is amazing. Keep up the good work everyone, I am so jealous and ready to get a good sweat going again!!!
Mandy

Good Evening!

Hi! It was CTX Power Circuits for me today -- no workout tonight. Am disappointed with the weight and workouts -- am not losing anything. Geez! So I dropped out the evening workout -- it worked before, not sure why it isn't now. Oh, well...

Georgie is doing well, thank goodness. He's staying around right now, but I accompany him outside until we both know the area better and we both make sure there's nothing around to hurt him. Am so glad that he is here with me.

Anyway, am enjoying the CTX rotation.

Just lost all the stuff I'd been writing with the touch of the wrong button. How I dislike when that happens.

Jeanette, you are inspiring. MM -- even in Timesaver form, is quite a workout. So glad the Cathe rotation is working out for you. What is the emphasis on the rotation, by the way? 28 miles sounds like a lot -- and I bet it was pretty.

Rhea, wow, you do sound busy. Take care and check in when you can. We'll be thinking of you.

Janie, yes, this weight thing is just frustrating. Deep sigh. But on the up side, you are getting a lot of writing done. Maybe by the time Fall comes around, that book will be done. ; )

Mandy, you sound so busy. I had only 2 children, but I sure do remember the busy-ness. Enjoy! I must admit that I loved every minute of raising my kids. Edited to say, maybe not EVERYminute... : )

Hi Tammy!

Well, it's off to bed for me. Hopefully I'll get up early and get a whole lot done tomorrow. Have a super day, everyone.

Good morning, have to go in to work 30 minutes earlier today. Did 30 minutes of KPC and will do a bike ride tonite to count as my cardio for the day.

Karen, sorry the extra workout isn't helping yet. Maybe give it a while longer? The August rotation focuses on revving the metabolism and building lean muscle mass.

Hi Mandy, sorry to say I haven't watched any of the Olympics yet, besides the opening ceremonies. Guess that Phelps fella is quite good!

Janie, you made me laugh about our home looking awesome. No, it doesn't but looking to make the new patio area a place that we frequent a lot. Doing the hard part right now, moving earth out. Hope you are feeling better and infection leaving.

Hi Rhea.

Gotta run,

Good morning!

Karen- right there with you on the weight thing. I'm not weighing myself just in case I'll be even more disappointed.

I've got to go over and look at the August rotation.

Managed to roll out of bed earlyish this morning, but no workout. I read where it is better for you to get that eight hours of sleep (and I need it) so I'm going to bed earlier if I can, and up earlier with some "me" time. This morning I got to read a little before DH called. The only problem about him being away is he tends to call when he gets bored, lonely and that seems to be about 3-4 four times a day. Hard to schedule around that. I really wish he would start working out and that would be good for him and occupy his time. He said he was going to start, but I've yet to see that happen.

Did get much of a workout in yesterday. I started to do Cardio Collectibles, but had to stop because it was too darn hot in my house to do aerobics. (it was 98 degrees on my deck and about 74 in the house)I then popped in the 10 minutes upper body by Tony Horton. I'm hoping to get something in more substantial today.

My trial this week got dismissed, so I can now concentrate on next week's trial. At least I won't be so pushed for time. (Probably why I couldn workout very well yesterday too, body was "destressing" and tired and just wanted to laze around....)

Well, have a great day everyone!
:)
