KK's August Check In

Hi Everyone!:)

It was Muscle Endurance for me today -- love that workout. Cathe is in good form, and funny...makes me laugh with her comments sometimes.

Jeanette -- your workout reminds me that I haven't done Rhythmic step for a while. It's a good workout.

So Cathe has a blog now. Wow! I'm going to have to go and get the url for it. What fun. Am looking forward to the new workouts, too. And I, too, wonder what the music will be like -- makes a difference, I think.

Becky -- I've only done MIS once -- it was so tough -- and it's a little long and so it's not one that I reach for very often. But it sure kicked butt.

Rhea & Jeanette -- know what you mean about hobbies -- I'd have to second all you said. I'd love to do music, sing in choir (I used to) and take singing lessons -- it's just hard to fit it all in.

Oh, and thanks Becky for trying to explain... It does sound hard -- me and math. Can do it okay when I have to, just don't like it.

Las Vegas should be fun -- at least it will be some time away for Paul and me, even though it is a little bit of work.

Have a great day tomorrow, everyone -- and some super workouts.:7

Hi Karen, Becky, Rhea and Natalie:

Today was ME for me (express premix). I haven't done this one in a long time and I'm sure burning now. The bicep segment is a killer as usual. For the squats and lunges and leg presses, I go much lighter, seems to be better for my cycling that way. Tonite I have to drop off the car in town so will ride my bike back home (approx. 8 miles) at an easy spin. Also plan on riding my horse after work.

Last night I climbed the locally dreaded (for cyclists) Janesville Grade. I had climbed it about 3 weeks ago with a friend. This time I beat my time by 5 minutes for a total of 46 minutes to the top. It was only 11 minutes to get back down but I really don't like the descent as it's VERY fast and I have to brake a lot, which is hard on my hands. Plus, the road is not smooth so I'm not comfortable with a lot of speed on it. Anyway, I wondered if I could do it without stopping as it was windy but I did. It is so steep that you could easily walk up faster than what I ride it (at the steepest part). We have our local bike club hill climb competition on the 31st of this month and this is the hill that we are doing. I will be slow, slow compared to the guys, but hey, I'll make it up. It was a great feeling when I got to the top and I was glad I attempted it. Also, my inner thighs are sore from riding my horse again after about 4 months, but that soreness didn't seem to affect anything. I am soooo happy with my cardio and endurance on the bike this year, also my leg strength is better. Think it actually helps to NOT do so much leg work as it fatigued my legs too much for the rides.

Karen, hope your Las Vegas trip is good. Good that you have your workout already planned so that you get it in. You go girl!

Rhea, we have short seasons up here so it's good you're getting the golfing in. Do you golf with a group? The college used to give lessons, I think. I may look that up some time, but I think I would be hooked big time and just don't have the time right now.

Becky, MIS is one I don't have. I just got the GS's and I still haven't used GS Chest and triceps yet. Of all of them, I think this is the one that I hear is the toughest, maybe because of the pushups?

Must go now, busy, busy, busy at work. Sometimes makes me cranky and I have no patience with some of these needy men that could do some of these tasks themselves instead of asking me to do it for them.

Jeanette

Good morning all!

Glad to see everyone got in their workouts. I even managed Cardio and Weights yesterday, nine holes of golf and a entire bucket of balls. It was rather fun. I'm thinking that I have to repeat some of that today. Just not sure of which workout I want to do yet.

Well, poor DH is back to work and one of the first things he gets is a copy of an e-mail from the b%$#@ from heck about her running for the school board just so she can keep him from getting the administrator position if the current administrator leaves. This woman has been on his back since the day he took the job (she didn't get the job, but said she didn't want it....yet she's been doing everything in her power to make him look bad) At least she is not working there at the school anymore, but now I guess is running for the board. I can't wait until the campaigning starts.....:p

Good evening ladies!

Karen, have fun in Vegas. I have never been there but would love to go. DH and I joke about renewing our vows in some Star Trek chapel there for our 10 yr anniversary.

Jeanette, great job on your ride.

Rhea, glad you got your workout in, and the golf too. Sorry about the frustration your DH had to go through.

This AM I did IMAX 2 followed by abs from KPC. IMAX 2 was fun! After doing IMAX 3, the dreaded IMAX 2 interval 9 wasn't so bad. I didn't do any extra cardio after class today...I am a little worn out and have my first big quiz tomorrow (and one on Friday and a clinical skills exam on Friday), so I am sitting at my desk doing practice pathology problems. Tomorrow is Circuit Max for me. Once again, another I haven't done. I have tried to tailor the various Cathe rotations for these next couple of months to get through each workout at least once.

Hope everyone has a great night!

-Becky

Good evening ladies!:)

It was IMAX3 for me today. Was scheduled for LowMax, but it's a little long, and I was short on time. You know something? I'm tried after doing it today. Hmmm... Now I think I know why on IMAX (the original) she says to put 2-3 days between the anaerobic workouts. Or maybe I just need more sleep -- don't know...

Anyway,...

Jeanette -- great on doing ME -- isn't that premix good? Really do like that workout. Well done on beating your time on the Janesville Grade. Way to go. I think I can understand about the legs, too. I guess it is possible to overtrain a little.

Rhea -- Cardio & Weights -- such a good workout -- sorry about your husband's frustration. I just realized that I'm not sure what he does -- he must be a teacher -- of what? Yeah, I can imagine those jobs must lean toward the "politics" in jobs. Hope things get better.

Becky -- You'll love Circuit Max -- it's a tough workout, but really fun -- and there's men in it, as well... And IMAX2 -- isn't it just fun? Yeah, you work hard, but it's fun.

Good luck on all your quizes and exams -- sounds hard.x(

Jeanette, I hope that your work load eases up a bit -- I can understand what you mean about the needy men -- maybe they don't realize how overloaded you are with someone gone?... maybe...

Anyway, gotta get to packing and figuring out what to take to Vegas. Am glad that my hubby is going -- and I hope we'll just have a blast -- as well as work...

Will try to post while I'm in Vegas, but am not sure I'll be able to. Oh, and don't you just love the new Cathe blog? Makes you feel like a part of it.

Have a terrific day tomorrow and wonderful workouts.:7

Good morning ladies,
Today was cardio for me so I did all hi/lo. Did about 1/2 hr including warmup from MIC and then finished another 15 minutes of hi/lo from SJP, followed by a stretch. MIC has such a fast beat, it is always a tough one for me. I usually stop at the more high impact and switch to something else. You really notice the difference in the bpm when you switch to SJP. MIC seems so frantic. I have a bike ride after work with a couple of friends, probably about an hour of easy spinning. Already got my hard ride in for the week so don't really want another one. Will have a longer (45 miles) one on Sunday with our local bike club around beautiful Lake Almanor.

Karen, I know you will have a great time in Las Vegas! I've never been there but would like to some day as there are lots of fun things to do. I'm not a gambler so the casinos don't grab me but guess there are a lot of other things for entertainment. Just takes $$$. I do love Cathe's new blog. She's really teasing us now, isn't she? Hope you can post while you are gone.

Rhea, sorry about the hassle for your DH. Politics, yuk. It's everywhere, isn't it? I like Cardio & Weights a lot. Imax2 and C&W on the same DVD, brilliant! After doing MIC this morning (part of it), I sure appreciate how Cathe has just gotten better and better. Really looking forward to these new ones coming out. Hope the sound issues are solved this time. Music is a big deal for me when working out.

Becky, Imax2 is fun, isn't it? Hope you do well on your tests. With all you do, it's pretty normal to feel a bit worn out.

Take care all,

Jeanette

Good evening everyone!

Karen, have a blast in Vegas! Good job on IMAX 3. That one is a doozie!

Jeanette, I know what you mean about MIC. I think "frantic" is the perfect word for it. I did that on Monday and I always feel like my brain is trailing behind my body (especially since I do my Cathe workouts at 5am).

Rhea, I hope you got a good workout in today.

Today, as mentioned yesterday, I did Circuit Max. It was fun. I liked not having to change weight on a barbell. Doing both lower and upper body moves with weights at the same time definitely kept the HR higher than workouts like High Step Challenge (where my HR drops significantly during the weight part). I also just got back from the fitness center. I did 50 minutes on the elliptical machine while I read a review book (I have gotten quite adept at keeping my head from bouncing too much so that I can read) on Microbio and Immunology. The calorie counter said I burned 620 calories (and I did put in my correct weight) but I think that was a bit of an overshoot. Either way, I feel refreshed (studying makes me tense and doing something physical while I do it helps relieve tension).

Back to studying. I have a Microbio quiz tomorrow AM and a clinical skills exam in the afternoon. Oh, I did great on the Pathology quiz this AM...thanks for the well-wishes!

Have a great evening everyone!

-Becky

Good morning,
Today was High Step Challenge Timesaver premix 51 minutes. I overslept a little this morning and felt a little tired but worked out of it. Yesterday rode around 20 miles after work with a friend, fairly easy spin. I think today will be the last day of my circuits rotation. I enjoyed using some of my not so used DVD's (the Terminator DVD rocks) and gained some endurance. Next rotation will be something using the Bowflex for weight work at night with DH, have to get him going again and if I'm doing the weights with him it will give him a push. Tomorrow we are going woodcutting and Sunday is a club bike ride so today is my last workout for the week.

Becky, congrats on the Pathology quiz. Your hard work pays off. I don't have Circuit Max but probably will before I'm all done. I'm getting excited about the new DVD's. Something new to read last night on the blog.

Karen, have fun in Vegas!

Have a great weekend everyone.

Jeanette :7 :7 :7

Good evening ladies.

Jeanette, wow...20 miles on the bike. That's a lot. Hope you enjoyed HSC.

Karen, hope you are having fun in Vegas.

This am I did Cardio Kicks. It was fun.

Gotta spend some time with the hubby now.

-Becky

Hi Jeanette & Becky & Rhea & Natalie!:)

Las Vegas was a blast. Had to work, but with my hubby with me, it was really more of a vacation -- plus, we were staying with a friend, so the expense was not intense.

Okay, so we saw the Pirates show at TI -- or Treasure Island -- I'd seen it once before and remembered it as being an entertaining romp. Whoa! They've changed it. Now it's a little siren/sexual romp performed there on the streets -- showgirl style with the girls and guys with very little on and shooting each other with their guns on the ships. Hmmmm... Not too Disneyland-like anymore.

Another thing I noticed -- I'm not a gambler, either -- so we simply walked through the casinos -- my husband went back later to play -- while I watched a fashion show -- but anyway, we walked through this casino, and it reminded me of... Well, have you ever seen the Disney movie Pinnochio (I've misspelled that) -- where he goes to an amusement park and they all end up being donkeys? In truth, that's what this casino reminded me of. There was so much noise and so much "glee of insanity" that I was so reminded of that. Interesting.

My hubby lost $30.00 -- he normally wins -- but oh, well...

Workout wise, I just walked on Friday -- was so hot out -- and on Saturday I walked/ran (despite the heat) for about 40 minutes total and then today was my day off.

The fashion show was interesting -- I've never seen the "model walk" before and so it was a little startling at first. But it was fun.

Okay, so now down to business --

Jeanette -- hope your ride was great this weekend -- I share your viewpoint on MIC -- must admit that I like the more recent workouts better, but it's still a great cardio workout.

Becky -- hope your time with your hubby was great and CONGRATS!!!! on that pathology quiz. May the other quizes be so well aced! I love Circuit Max -- but haven't done it for a while. If I can, think I'll add it to the schedule.

Here's what I plan workout wise for the week:

Mon: IMAX2 plus abs from Cardio & Weights

Tues: ME

Wed: 30 minute run plus stretch

Thurs: MuscleMax

Fri: Sprint 8-10 plus core

Sat: Was planning KPC, but might do Circuit Max instead.

This is very similar to the Fat Burning workout you were doing, Becky. I've just changed the days around a bit.

Have a great day, everyone. Missed you all while I was away. I always love coming here and seeing your posts. Oh, Jeanette, I agree with you on the blog. It's really a tease. Can't wait for the new ones, though.

Terrific workouts, everyone.:7

Karen, so glad you had a great time in Vegas. Hope you enjoy IMAX 2 today.

Jeanette and Rhea, I hope you both had wonderful weekends.

Saturday I did a 40 minute running iTread and then went to my 1.5 hour hot and sweaty yoga class.

Sunday was supposed to be a rest day, but I felt stressed out so I did BodyBlast Timesaver #3.

Today I did Legs and Glutes followed by a 25 minute TM run (with a 5 minute cooldown afterwards).

This weekend was pretty busy with studying. Anyway, I hope everyone had great workouts today!

-Becky

Good morning Karen, Rhea, Becky and Natalie:

Good to see you back, Karen! Glad you had a blast! I've never been to Vegas but sometime maybe. Interesting how the pirate thing had changed. And the modeling walk, only used on the runways is it? Don't see people down at the mall walking like that (thank goodness).

Becky, will it be a hectic week for you? Good for you for getting in your workouts too.

Saturday was no workout for me cuz DH and I went woodcutting. I sweated like crazy. Funny how you think you're in pretty good shape, but just change the activity and boy, you sure feel out of shape. Yesterday was a bike ride around a local lake for 45 miles. It was a beautiful, picture perfect day, with great company. There were 7 of us riding. We stopped 1/2 way and had coffee and a cookie, nice conversation. One of the riders is 75 and he rides awesome. He is truly an inspiration. Think I was the youngest at 47. Such a nice group of people that I am fortunate to cycle with and we have awesome scenery up here.

Will be doing upper body workouts in the evenings (M,W,F) with DH this week so here's my schedule:

Monday: AM: Imax2 (premix 1-5), C&W abs - already did this one this a.m. PM: upper body on Bowflex, free weights

Tuesday: AM: CTX short cardio, yoga; P.M. intense cycling workout in evening

Wednesday: AM: PLB, abs PM: Upper Body workout

Thursday: AM: Christi Taylor cardio (I should receive in mail today) PM: cycling (fairly easy)

Friday: AM: Lowmax premix 1-4, Turbo Abs PM: upper body workout

Saturday: No workout, woodcutting probably

Sunday: Cycling

I'm doing the PM upperbody workouts to help get DH back on track and we'll work out together. He hasn't gained any weight, but he's looking "soft around the edges". My focus will be to tone up the upper body a little more, abs a few times a week, a little bit of legwork. We'll see how I feel with this first week's rotation.

Must get going now and Karen, glad you had a nice time in Vegas.

Oh, I actually am reading the first Harry Potter book!

Jeanette

Hi Jeanette & Becky & Rhea & Natalie!:)

Thought I'd post a little early today, cause my schedule might be changing in the evening -- not sure yet, but it might.

Becky, interesting rotations you're doing -- the TimeSaver and then yoga -- what a killer class that must be -- and then a run. Once I reach a point where I feel I'm back in shape, I'm going to switch to doing upper body and lower body on separate days -- I think after a while those tend to give better results -- maybe -- we'll see...

Jeanette -- our workouts were very similar today -- wow! I did IMAX2, as well -- but the whole thing -- then C&W abs, also -- included both stretches, too. Love how you're doing your workouts so that they are coordinated so you can help your hubby. That is so cool.

Sounds like you had a fabulous weekend, though, all things considered.

Rhea -- hope you are doing well, as well. Did you hubby get off jury duty? I have it coming up next week. Sigh...

Well, have a great day, everyone, and super workouts. And Becky, hope your study is hassel-free.:7

PS: Edited just to change one word -- from tonight to today. Gee, it is still daylight out...:+

Good morning ladies!

Today was 1/2 hr. of easy cardio so pulled out a Charlene Prickett high intensity low impact video. Followed that up with Eoin Finn's Power Yoga For Happiness. I really like to loosen my hip joints with pigeon pose. Feels great. DH and I worked upper body on the Bowflex (for him) and free weights for me last evening. We did pyramid type workouts. He felt it too as he hadn't lifted any weights for about a month I think. Says he's not sore today. I'm feeling it some. Tonite will be my intense cycling workout, usually about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes of intervals. I'll use my Cardio Coach for it.

Good for you, Karen, for doing all of Imax2. With all the cycling I do, I tend to shorten my cardio workouts so as not to overdo it for myself. I'm still alone at work and it is tougher, plus I've been working 5 days a week instead of 4 (though shorter days 8 vs. 10) so I don't get that extra day to sleep in a bit.

Becky, hope school is going well for you. Hope to hear from you soon.

Rhea, there is a smell of fall in the air, sigh. Mornings are a little cooler, but last night was warm and I wore an ice pack around my neck so I could sleep better. I love that thing. My neighbor Ceci Sesmat likes to golf too. She's one of those gals that does everything, golfing, biking, running, skiing, you name it.

Must go now. Great workouts!

Jeanette

Good morning ladies.

Jeanette, pigeon pose is one of my favorites too. Good job on getting DH to weighlift. I am trying so hard to get mine to start!

Karen, your rotation states that you're going to do ME today. I hope you enjoy that!

Rhea, hope everything is good with you.

This AM I did PUB and then a 30 minute run. I may do some elliptical work today while reviewing today's lecture notes.

School is crazy right now. I don't feel like I have a moment to think about anything other than medicine (except while working out...I am loving that outlet!) I am on a 10 minute break between lectures right now and need to get back to it.

Have great days ladies!

-Becky

Hi all!

Just a quick note....then to court.

Oakland was fun. It was great to be in the fog. I miss the ocean sometimes. At least the Giants won when we say them on Friday night.

The bad thing was I got a sinus infection over the weekend...err. So I'm not doing the workouts. I hate my sinus infections, not sick enough to stay home (unless i let it go for about a week) but not well enough to participate in anything. I was lucky that I just happened to have a doc appointment yesterday in Reno with my homeopathic doctor, so they got to do all the looking at my stuffed up head and ear. :p

Well, glad to see that everyone here is doing so well. Sorry this is so short, but work, once again, is crazy. So many people to call back. Yuck.

Hi Ladies!:)

Am posting early again for me. It was ME today for me, the full workout -- and I do like that workout. Always feel good at the end of it.

Jeanette -- hope you get some help at work soon. Understand how the shift from 4-5 days a week can be a big shift, even working less hours per day. It's still 5 days. Have a good time on your ride tonight.

Becky -- hope school gets a little less chaotic -- did I spell that right? At least you're keeping up on your workouts -- I know that helps me when I'm under stress. Isn't PUB a good workout -- love the premixes on that one -- particularly up only.

Rhea -- so good to hear from you, but sorry you have a sinus infection. I tend toward them as well, but haven't had one for a while now. Knock on wood. Don't sweat it on the workouts -- you're right to just get well -- and then workout when you're well.

It's a beautiful day here today -- no smell of fall in the air here yet -- I love that smell -- when I lived in Vermont -- this was the most beautiful and wonderful time of the year.

Have a super day everyone!:7

Good morning!

Today's workout was an abbreviated version of Pyramid Lower Body and then I added on the stability abwork from Pyramid Upper Body. Will work on the Bowflex and freeweights upper body with DH tonite. Last night I did Cardio Coach #2 workout on my bike. Good workout.

Becky, I love the Pyramids and got good results with upper body when I used them. Way to go on using the elliptical and reading at the same time. Not sure if I could. I've got my DH lifting weights, but it's still me calling the shots and getting him up off the couch. I think he's humoring me but he does put lots of effort in the lifting.

Rhea, must have been nice to be in cooler, different weather from here. I think it's fun to go to the city as long as someone else does the driving.

Karen, bet ME was good for you. I love fall time too. Something about it. Have you started your tai-chi lessons yet?

My Christi Taylor DVD's came yesterday and I previewed a bit. I think they will be really fun and something I can grow with. Like the music a lot too and she's an excellent cuer. I think I'll do some tomorrow morning for some steady state cardio, though I know I'll be learning and won't get the intensity, but that's okay.

Must run now, my co-worker came back to work from surgery time off and it helped yesterday. Glad she's back!

Jeanette

Good morning, ladies!:)

Posting early for me again today. It was 30 minutes of cardio -- instead of a run, I did the beginning of Body Max, plus a walk -- then stretch on the ball. Do like that ball.

Hi Jeanette! I forget about some of these workouts sometimes -- like PLB and PUB -- I'm going to have to revisit them. Think that's great that you're inspiring your hubby. After a while, maybe he'll originate working out on his own.

Okay, I'm going to look up Christi Taylor in my Collage catelog -- I do so much Cathe, that I sometimes forget that there are other workouts out there. And that's great that your co-worker is back.

Can you believe that I forgot about the offer to teach me Tai Chi? -- I'll have to take him up on that -- probably, however, after I finished doing my taxes -- have to have them done by October and they take me a while.

Becky, hope your workouts are great today -- always enjoy hearing about your rotations -- and hope the classes calm down soon into a pattern that isn't stressful.

Rhea, how are you doing? Hope you're on the mend.

Must get down to work -- although the deadline is over, the work never ceases... At present, I have to get all my lists updated, etc. Whew! Isn't Cathe's blog really great, by the way? I read it everyday now.

Well, have a super day everyone and wonderful workouts!:7

Good morning!

Karen - on the mend, but slowly because I have to keep working which just wipes me out. I'm healthy enough that I just have little aches and pains, but not enough to stay home. I really don't like that, but I also couldn't stay home the last few days. I might go out early today, just to sit in front of the telly and watch movies or something. Give my body the chance to heal. This antibotic is pretty strong, I can actually "taste" it in the back of my throat. Yuck.

Jeanette - I love the cool crisp mornings. With the windows open above my bed, I love to be all warm and snuggly with the cool air. However, it tends to make me not want to get up in the morning.

Becky - how's school? You are probably really busy now.

Well, I'm off to read the blog, it is such a tease. I can't wait until these workouts are here. I pre-ordered last year, so its been a long wait. But I know I'll love them. I need to get healthy so I can be up to snuff when they get here.

Have a great day everyone!
