KK April Check-In

Good Morning,

Will do STS legs today after I digest breakfast.

KK, Are you going home yet?

Jeanette, The snow lasted for about 6 hours, then it just melted away. It never snowed here in the middle of April before. Not as long as I can remember. Our climate is certainly changing. Don't you just love the STS series? WOW!

Rhea, how ya doing?

I think this check-In needs to be busier, seems like it's winding down. What is everyone doing? Must be Spring Break, Right?

Hi ladies,
Yesterday's workout was BM2 premix #6 (step cardio), then STS Abs Plates & Weights. Today was STS Disk 14 (legs). Then a bike ride after work. There were 4 of us ladies and 1 husband. Good climb! I pushed pretty hard all of the way up the hill.

Janie, STS Disk 13 sure gave me some good DOMS in my chest and back. I did enjoy it, though the barbell chest presses were tough without a weight bench or spotter. Does Joey help you? Maybe I can get my DH to help me next time. What is your strongest body part? For me, I think it is triceps. Yes, I'm enjoying STS, though I need to quit snacking on junk at work and pretzels at home.

Hi to Rhea and Karen.

I have a BIG golf weekend coming up. Weather is supposed to be in the low 80's over in Reno, where I'll be on Sunday and Monday. The shorts are coming out!

Good Afternoon!

Just a quick post to say I'M DONE!!!!:eek: I'm DONE!!!!:eek: My DH is here right now and we're headed out the door to my daughter's wedding reception, then home! I'll be about 2 weeks on the road.

Will check in when I can. Wow! My DH is here!!!! And oh, by the way...I'M DONE!!!!

Just wanted you to know.

Have some super workouts and I'll check in when I can.:D

Jeanette, STS Legs and then biking. WOW! I'm amazed. For heavy weight, I go to the Marcy Machine (home gym), it has a self spotter and I do well on it. I think my strongest body part are my biceps. At least that is where I'm seeing the most muscle gain so far. I love STS. I too have to continually watch what I eat. It's so darn hard! Enjoy your golfing and the beautiful weather.

Rhea, Are you golfing too?

I did STS disc 18 - Back and Biceps today. Couldn't finish with the last asparagus row today, because it rained. Darn! Maybe tomorrow.

Hi,
Yesterday's workout was 40 minutes of SJP Hi-Lo and Step Blast. After work was a trip out to the desert to let the dogs air out. Was nice, except the gnats are starting to come out. Hate those biting things. No workout today as I had ladies golf this morning. I did okay and had a good time. Meeting some nice ladies and learning more about the game. After coming home and doing some housework, I hopped on my bike for a ride. No workouts for the next 2 days as I'm going out of town to play golf with a girlfriend. I'll hit STS Disk 15 (Back and Biceps) on Tuesday.

Janie, I have a Bowflex so will attempt the squat leg workout with that. Diane Sue from the Hardcores has used it for Meso #3 and says it works okay for her.

Karen, congrats on being done!!!! Yeehaw!!! So happy for you! Enjoy your time with DH and your DD's wedding. Do you feel like you've run a marathon??? You are made of much tougher stuff than myself! Way to go!!!

Hi Rhea,

Gotta run,

Good afternoon!

Haven't been able to check in for a while, trying to get tons of stuff done. Haven't even been able to workout, well, at least not traditional workouts. Yesterday's workout was a five hour paint the grape arbor. Today's workout was the five hour clean the pond and lifting the grown together water lillies out of the pond. That pond work was intense back work. Especially since I tried to get it emptied by pouring about two gallons at a time in the water fall pump. I had to give up after a while. Only got about half the water out. Need to find a sump pump or something that I can use.

Jeanette - sounds like Saturday was fun. I thought of you while I was painting. I would have rather been golfing, but had to get the arbor painted before the leaves come out on the grapes. At least it is done. Hope you have fun in Reno. It is supposed to be 80 degrees on Monday, I might have to play golf Monday afternoon.

Janie - did the weather clear up for that last row? I'm going to repeat last week's workouts since I only got Monday and Wednesday done.

Karen - CONGRATULATIONS! I knew you would finish. Have a great trip home and enjoy all the stops. You will be so happy to be home. I can't wait until you get there and can tell us all about the trip back.

Well, off to figure out what to fix for dinner. On my own again, so it will be very easy.

Good evening!

Started back up on STS today. Did Disc three over. Doing the discs the second time is so much easier. You know what is ahead and I can actually plan the weights for the next exercise easier. Either that or I was just more awake today than I have been lately! Also played nine holes of golf today. It was too nice outside not to go play golf.

Have a great rest of the day everyone!

Hi all,
Had a nice time in Reno, golfed 2 very nice courses yesterday and today. Even won some $$$!! Tomorrow will be STS Disk 15B.

Rhea, I agree, repeating STS weekly sure helped me get my weights right. This weather has been wonderful, but will be getting cooler again by the end of the week. Oh well, the grass is sure growing so will have to mow the property weeds and grass soon too. DH needs to do some burning before we're not allowed to anymore, that will probably be soon.

Jeanette, Looks like you are doing great on your workouts. I bet your girls love the desert. I hate gnats too. I guess they are food for some animal though. But what food are slugs for? That's a big problem in my garden. I bet you enjoyed your golf day, that's great. But, how did you do? You know, I need specifics. Also enjoy your bike ride with your friend. Wish I could come.

Rhea, I know how busy life can get. Hectic to say the least. Although I'm doing the STS series, I use my cardio days, for weeding, shoveling...I understand where you are coming from. Would love to see your beautiful pond when you get it done. Pictures please?

Rhea, I'm doing Meso 2 over, and I agree, it is much easier in the way of organizing everything and knowing what is coming up. I know you enjoyed the golf. That's cool.

Jeanette, I love disc 15. Enjoy. Haven't visited Reno in a long time. Is it still the same? Any new building going on?

Today Joey and I did legs. We both sweated so much that I could literally wring out my headband. Then we had a super fine protein drink.

See ya all tomorrow,

Janie

Good evening!

No workout for me today. For some reason I did not sleep well last night and my tummy system was not doing so hot. So I had to take a 1/2 day off of work. (even coffee did not taste good this morning, so something was amiss)

Will hit Disc 4 tomorrow. Have a great rest of the evening.

(can you believe that we are supposed to maybe have a chance of snow showers by the weekend? YUCK)

Hi Rhea,

Hoping you are not coming down with the yuck. Take care and try to have a good rest. Snow? OMG! Did you get the snow?

Janie
4760884_bodyshot_175x233.gif

Good evening!

Janie - no yuck stuff. I think it was a combination of stress/too much sun over the last three days/dehydration/eating foods that I have an intolerance for and plain ole nerves. Once I got to get some sleep, everything was better. Still have some left over gurgling in the stomach, but just noisy, not bothersome.

Did Disc 5 again today. I'm going to try and get in some fun cardio tomorrow before my meeting in the evening. I was going to try and get some golf in today, but it got really windy and I was running out of time and needed to get that workout done. I really wish I could wake up in the morning with the type of energy for working out. I just don't.

Hope everyone else is doing great. Oh, Janie - the alleged snow is for this weekend, maybe. I don't think it will be here.

Hi Rhea,

I'm so glad you are feeling better, and more importantly you didn't get the flu. Hopefully the snow won't come and you will have a terrific beautiful weekend. Let's hope anyway. Take care and do have a fun cardio. Disc 5, back and biceps, are not that easy are they? At least not for me. Tough workouts, but love everyone of them so far.

Janie

Good evening!

Did some fun cardio today. Did Christi Taylor's Still Steppin. Did only the first half though since my knee has been tighter than anything today. Sort of weird, did not do a leg workout yesterday, but my knee was tight. It would get even stiffer when I sat for a long period of time. I think it has something to do with the small of my back. Worked that out yesterday, so it is pulling on the hamstring which is really tight and that pulls the knee. Oh well..

Tomorrow will be Disc 6. Looking forward to working those legs.

Janie - no snow so far. Still pretty warm out too. We might make it through the storm without snow! who hoo. Pretty windy though. Shouldn't bother brushing my hair before I go out!

Have a great rest of the day everyone!

Hi,
Today was STS Disk 13B, yesterday was Lowmax 1-4, with STS Abs Pilates. Day before was Disk 15A. I'm enjoying Meso #2 so far. I like the rests :D. No bike ride tonite as we had an awards ceremony to go to for our GS. Tomorrow will be some cardio.

Rhea, glad you enjoyed some Christi Taylor. I really like her DVD's. Hmmmm, maybe I'll do one of those tomorrow, along with an ab workout. Yep, way too windy today.

Janie, hmmmm, specifics for golf. Well. Saturday I golfed a 55 on both the front and back 9's. Not as good as the week before, in which I shot a 97 total for 18 holes. Sunday's score was a 52 and 53, which I felt pretty good about as I'd never played that course and it was much tougher than our home course. Monday was a 54 and 54, still good for me as it was even tougher than Sunday's course. Little by little. It's such a tough game. I had a blast with my GF though. Hoping to get back there next month to play with her.

Karen, know you are having a great time.

Hi Everyone,

Jeanette, Thanks for the details on golfing. I'm assuming they are good numbers, right? Just glad you are doing something you enjoy. How was the awards ceremony? Have a great time with cardio today. What did you do?

Rhea, OOOO, Christy Taylor sounds great! I might do cardio today, if I do I'll pick one of hers. Hope everything is OK with your back and knee. Doesn't sound very good. How did you like the leg workout. Hard wasn't it?

Need to clean my house, so see you all later.

Janie

Good afternoon!

Janie - I'll be hitting that leg workout as soon as I get some wood in. It got colder here, so I'll be building a fire in that woodstove tonight. It is only 60 degrees in my house, so it is a little chilly. I could turn on the central heat, but I'm a bit of a miser and don't want to use the oil!

I'll be back later!

Hi There,

Rhea, My hubby is a frugal person, so I know where you are coming from. Miser might be a better name. I too am a little bit of one, but not so like Joey. How did you do on the leg workout?

We found out today, that a test result came in and was positive. Our little Adrian has Downs Syndrome and hearing problems. Also we think there still is a problem with his bowels, because sometimes you can tell he is in pain. Poor little guy. We don't know the extent of everything yet. It took us aback a little, but you know, he is ours, and he's beautiful and I believe he will teach us a lot about life. Joey and I want to be in his life and we are looking forward to it. We may even get out our sign language book and learn those skills so we can communicate with Adrian better. We'll see how things go.

Anyone experience this in their family? Any advice out there? This is all so new to us and unexpected. We know for certain, Adrian will have a wonderful/happy and full filling life. I'll be looking up the syndrome and trying hard to find out things, but it is what it is. We can't hardly wait to start life anew with our little fella.

Just thought you all would like to know how he is doing, since a lot of you prayed, good vibes...for him. I think he will be such a blessing to us all.

Janie
4760884_bodyshot_175x233.gif

(((HUGS))) Janie, I sure hope his bowel problem will be corrected soon. I can't offer any advice about the downs syndrome, but the downs syndrome children that I have met are very loving and extra sweet. So I know Adrian will be just that way. Plus how could he be anything else with such a loving family.

Leg workout went well. I was going to do the added conditioning and decided that it might be a little much with a sore knee/hamstring. I could tell in the workout what was pulling on my knee the most, the hamstrings. Tight, tight, tight. I did the extended stretch and I think tomorrow I will at least do my Fountain of Youth yoga from Tony H. I haven't been able to try that one. I probably should be adding in some stretch every morning. If I could just drag my hiney out bed, I might be very flexible!

Have a great rest of the day. I'll light a candle for little Adrian this evening and send well wishes his way.
