Jogglers Jan 2011

Howdy!

Alisha - Glad you got your joggle in the other day!

Jane - Nice KB workouts!

I'm enjoying P90X! I weenied out of my workout on Friday, so did a double on Saturday. Ouch! Never again! 2.5 hours of Legs & Back, Ab Ripper X and Kenpo X. OMG! I was exhausted! I finally burned over 500 calories though! I can't believe that's what it takes to burn enough calories each day to run a deficit these days! This, I guess, is the downside of losing weight! Your body becomes more efficient and doesn't need to work as hard because your not as heavy any more. This makes it difficult to maintain my weight!

Oh, well! Just gotta keep working hard!

Hi Cindi and Lisa!

I took a rest yesterday. My insides are finally feeling better (I have no idea what went wrong there:confused:) I may do a workout later today. The next week is somewhat up in the air. I have no idea if we will have a job or not, my Dad and I are waiting to hear if our proposal was accepted. Consequence is I am front loading my week with workouts, I won't know when I won't be able to workout.

Tricia- I hate that as you lose weight you have to eat less to maintain your weight loss. It almost makes going to the effort seem ridiculous. Like, why would I do this anyway? Yeah, I know that its so I can actually fit into a commercial airline seat, but seriously, I have to continue eating the same calorie load as when I was dieting?

Hi ladies,
I made it out for the first time this morning since Friday. We're supposed to get more snow tomorrow. Check out FB for pics of the pups in the snow. It's 18+ inches - ie., deeper than Pip Squeak is tall.

Friday I did STS Full Body
Yesterday I did Bum Bum and most of Ellen's Slim Sculpt
Today I did Gym Style Back and Bis.

Thanks for the well wishes. I'm waffling a little bit on the job right now. Lots of change.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. It sounds like the south will get some of this next round of snow too. I'll check back in when I dig out again.
Lisa

I did the 40 min. cardio blast premix from Drill Max. Its got a good mix of plyos/low impact. I loved the blast with the stability ball. What a hoot. Can you imagine a drill team using that as a base for a routine? It would make great Busby Berkley style choreography.

Lisa- I don't know if you should go or if you should stay. Does the new job seem like it would look good on your resume? Is it looking like a great career move? When I went down to work at Disney World I had no idea what I was in for, it was the lowest job on the totem pole and I was an intern. My first day we had a hurricane so I didn't even get the normal training. But, over time the job turned out to have been great preparation for working in the independent film industry. Up until then I hadn't worked nearly as hard (I thought I had:rolleyes:) then at Disney I toughened up to working 12 hour days for 13 days in a row. This helped prepare me for the month long shoots which required 6 day weeks, 20 hour days, and no air conditioning. I guess what I'm saying is I don't actually know what would be best for you but don't let fear of the unknown decide.

There, ok, I'm off my soap box. I hope that wasn't too preachy:eek:

Hi Everyone,

I had a cold run this morning. It was 32 degrees with a wind chill of 27 degrees. I did fine for the first 5 miles but then hit a pine cone and twisted my ankle a bit. I ended up walking the final 3 miles because I didn't want to run on my ankle. It was a little colder walking. My ankle is just swollen below the bone. It doesn't hurt too much. Every year I seem to take a spill. I'm glad I got it over with early in the year. ;)

We are missing out on all the snow. We are only going to get rain.

Lisa - {{{HUGS}}} Change is hard. It's difficult to know what path to take sometimes. I hope it all works on in the end.

Alisha - Nice job with Drill Max. That's one of my favorites.

Tricia - Yikes!! You are one tough cookie. It sounds like something I would do. Keep doing what you are doing. Eventually you will find what works for you.

Take care,

I'm about to go for a joggle, its sunny and cold out there. I hope I can feel my fingers.:p

Jane- That was a very cold run.

Alisha

Hi ladies,
Yesterday I did LB - I did the timesaver premix from Gym Style LB and the first two chapters of High and Tight. I also did Namaste yoga. Today it is Namaste yoga and a walk/slither/whatever at the orchard with the pups.

The job is going to require a lot of work - both longer days and more days - without more pay. However, it will be a good opportunity to learn and grow and I have been quite stagnant in my current job for a while. Its going to be a lot of change too. I have the signed letter in my purse. Just needs to post it. Thanks for the encouragement.

Lisa

Woo hoo. The letter is posted. Now I can't get ahold of my boss to give him my notice. Oh well.

I did walk the dogs - 2 slippery miles at the orchard. Then I went to the nice new gym in town and did 20 min on the elliptical and 20 min on the recumbent bike with my friend. Good to finally get some cardio in.

Lisa

Hi Everyone,

I took the last 2 days off - nursing my ankle. It is better. The swelling is going down and I can walk on it. I spent yesterday afternoon looking at new office space and it held up. I am going to do an upper body weight workout tonight.

Lisa ~ I'm so glad you made the decision to go for it!!

Hi Alisha and Tricia!

Jane- I hope your ankle is feeling better.

I took yesterday as a rest day because I had an unexpected meeting in the evening. I will be doing Step Heat mid morning today.

Alisha

My ankle is getting better! Yay! I did not workout yesterday but I'm doing upper body tonight for sure.

Alisha ~ I hope you had a good workout today.

Take care everyone!

Hi ladies,
Wednesday I did a very light workout - some Bollywood Dance on FitTV and then Namaste yoga. Thursday I did Bum Bum, High and Tight and then did 20 minutes of recumbent bike and 25 minutes of elliptical at the gym. I managed to get a 2 week membership to hold me through the worst of the snow before I move.

Jane - Glad your ankle is getting better!

Alisha - Hope you enjoyed Step Heat and glad you are feeling better.

Hi Tricia and Cindi! Hope you both are doing well.

Lisa

I went for a jog/walk today. It was very foggy and not as cold out there.

Lisa- Step Heat was fun.

Jane- I am glad your ankle is getting better.

Hi Tricia and Cindi!!!

Alisha

Hi everyone!

Lisa - When you've become comfortable, it does make change harder! Don't let the nervousness make you wemble! Just know that change is good. It makes us grow and learn! Stay strong! We're behind you! I've been through this kind of significant change a lot! You will be glad you made the move!

Jane - Sorry about your ankle! I'm glad it's getting better!

Alisha - I'm glad you're feeling better, too! Nice work on staying with your workouts!

Hi Cindi!

I'm still working my way through P90X and am still loving it! It doesn't have quite the variety of STS, but I think it's a nice switch from STS and will keep me from being bored with my strength training as I switch back and forth between the two! I have a plan to alternate my cardio with each program between Insanity, TurboFire and all my Cathe cardio in order to keep myself challenged and engaged! (Do I not sound like a kid?)

My weight is going nowhere, so I'm tracking cals again on myfitnesspal. The food database there is outstanding! It pulls from Allrecipes, has all the restaurant foods and allows you to pull from members recipes and you can enter your own very easily! I love it!

We'll see what happens!

I have a Beachbody team call now, so I'll check in on you guys later! Have a fabulous day!

Tricia- yep, you sound like a kid:p

I'm taking today as a rest day. I have to drive to Fresno and work. We anticipate making 1000 dollars between the two of us so I can't pass it up. Its ok, I got 5 workouts in this week.

Alisha

Happy Saturday!!!

I took yesterday off but I did the upper body premix from High Reps on Thursday. I loved it! It moved fast and it was tough!! I plan on doing the whole workout next week.

My ankle is so much better. The swelling is almost all gone. I have been putting a heated corn bag on my ankle every night when I go to bed. Every morning you could tell that the swelling was going down considerably.

This morning I did the following workout. I worn a wrap around my ankle and it felt great.

Each of the following 6 rounds has a 4 minute time limit, the remainder of which is used to execute as many repetitions as possible for the prescribed movement.

Run (down the block and back)/Max reps x swings
Rest :30
Run/Max reps x step ups
Rest :30
Run/Max reps x deadlifts
Rest :30
Run/Max reps x push ups
Rest: 30
Run/Max reps x squats
Rest: 30
Run/Max reps x swings

Tricia ~ It sounds like you have a good plan going. Is it possible that your weight is not moving because of age issues (i.e. menopause)? We are the same age, and although I don't weight myself, I do notice that I don't drop the weight as easily as I used to. Just a thought!!

Alisha ~ Go to Fresno....I wouldn't pass up that money! Have a great trip.

Hi Lisa!

Hey Alisha! - Five days is fabulous! A $1000 day is certainly worth missing a workout! Hope it goes well!

Jane - Sounds like everyone is loving the new Cathe workouts! They're on my list! I'm hoping they hit the weekly discount for the digital download version! That's what I'm keeping my eye out for!

The age thing stays in the back of my mind. Just keeping myself maintained is getting harder every day! I'm seeing everyone else's calorie burns for certain workouts and I'm nowhere near what they burn! I'm trying to tell myself that it's because they're considerably younger or have better metabolism (I'm sure I damaged mine yo-yoing). I've got to stop paying attention to what everyone else burns calorie-wise! Of course, I've noticed my calorie burns going lower over the last year. So, now I'm trying to focus more on the strength training and less on cardio, but keep the calories burned over at least 350-400. I think I can maintain with that. I just can't take the time to workout for 2 - 2 1/2 hours a day to hit that 600 cal burn I used to get! I'm still working on trying to ignore everyone else's stats! lol

It also drives me crazy that some people claim to need 2000 or more calories a day! Good grief! If I ate that much every day, I'd be an elephant! I think I'm obsessing.

I'm going to stay with my plan and just try to increase muscle and TRY not to worry so much about all the other stuff - just try to maintain my weight where it is! Wish me luck!

Have a great day you guys!

Hi ladies,
Yesterday I did STS Full Body. Today I did Namaste yoga + 15 min elliptical 15 min recumbent bike + almost 2 miles at the orchard with the pups (turned around a little early to prevent the girls from doing some cardio intervals chasing the world's most stupid deer).

Tricia - Thanks for the encouragement. One of the things I notice is that I lose weight best if I work out for no more than about 45 minutes per day. Once I push past that and start working out for more than an hour, I hold on to weight. That didn't used to happen to me but it does now. More lower intensity exercise does better for me.

Jane - Glad your ankle is getting better.

Alisha - My brother lived in Fresno for two years as a missionary. I remember it being a cute little town or am I totally mistaken?

Cindi - Hi!

Lisa

Hi All,

I went for a 6 mile run today. My ankle felt good although now there is a little bruising under the bone again. I wonder if that is due to the wrap that I wore. Oh well, at least I got my run in.

Have a great night!

Lisa - I'm just going to keep experimenting until I find what works for me at "my age" now! lol I'm not too discourage or anything. Hey, I still lost 30 lbs. and am staying on top of it, so that's already doing better than I ever have before! Glad you didn't end up chasing deer with low IQ! lol

Jane - Nice run! Don't overdo it! Not sure why you would have a bruise, but just take care of that ankle! I can't wait to get out and run again! You ladies are inspiring me! Now, if we could just get these mounds of snow to melt so I have someplace to run!
