It's official, my dog thinks she's a cat!

Anyone else have amusing species-confused pets??

My hubby and I have a dog and three cats. I guess since the dog is out-numbered, it was bound to happen!! She'll pass at the chance to play with other dogs (which she used to enjoy), to spend time with her feline crew instead. She started swatting at things (like strings) with her paws while laying on her back, she's become nocturnal, and she tears around the house with fake mice. She evens squeezes herself into THEIR little cat beds (when she has her own doggie bed) and sits on their kitty condo to gaze out the window at birds!

This is extrememly amusing, just though I'd share! The poor dog is having an identity crisis. Should we call the dog whisperer?? :)

Anyone else have different species of pets that get along oh so well?

Does it look something like this around your house?

my old cat, Suki-oki or SuSue, used to believe Max ( a dog) was her offspring. She took care of him like he was her own and he loved all the attention he got from her. Now, my current cats prefer dogs over their own feline species. So, it's great that your dog has adapted and is accepted in the feline world.

Well, they weren't exactly pets, but we raised two turkeys along with about 20 chickens, and we are convinced our turkeys began to think they were chickens. We had intended to let them go really free range with the local wild turkeys once they got big enough, but they wouldn't leave! Don't ask me why I speak about them in the past tense on this post-Thanksgiving month......

Great thread. If you've read anything I've written about my boy, Tangee, you already know, the little sh*t is a not-so-closeted pit bull, not the misunderstood type, either.

This is too cute! Maybe she'll start using the litter box too. That would sure make your job easier. :)

Fit_Fairy, I can't see your picture, it is just showing up on my computer as a little red "x" in a box. :( If it looks anything like a zoo though, then yes!!! :)

Oh my gosh Nadine, yes that would be great!! Although I think I'd have my husband start scooping the litter box in that event :) :)

SirenSongWoman, I DO read the tales of Tangie!! :) I just love animal threads! I'm glad you got him back safe!!

Jennifer, that is adorable!! I saw a show the other night where a tiger (I think it was a tiger) refused to nurse her babies for whatever reason, so her babies were given to a dog who had just given birth too, and the dog nursed the baby tigers! I love when animals take care of each other. It seems to be a great instinct!

Beth, your story is too cute too! I bet those turkeys regretted not leaving before thanksgiving ;)

Jennie, yes animals are the greatest!! I know my life would be dull without them!

Thanks everyone for sharing your stories!

I couldn't see it a minute ago, but now it's there? Who knows. It's a cat perch with a couple of cats on it saying meow and you look further down and there's a big dog on the perch saying uhh, meow?

I wish I could see the picture, it sounds funny! Based on the description I would say yes, that is definitely what goes on at my house! I'm convinced she would meow if she could!! LOL

I can't see the picture either:( It sounds cute!!!

My boxer's have cat like qualities. They slap, but because they are boxers, it's called boxing:D They rub against me a lot.
My boy purrs like a kitten when we scratch his ears.
He sounds like a pig when he licks. :pIt's the only annoying thing about him!

Darn, I still can't see the picture by following the link because it won't let you unless you're logged into your "aol account", which I don't have! I don't think we're meant to see the pic! :p

Fit44- your boxer babies sound SO precious!!

When I was about 12 I had a duck who thought he was a dog. He followed my 2 dogs around all the time. The neighbors called and complained that he was "quacking at the moon" at night. One duck-ish thing he liked was swimming in a metal tub and seemed confused that the dogs didn't want to join him. He'd quack insistently at them while he floated in it. I would walk to the post office and there would be a trail of animals behind me--little dog, big dog, duck, stray dog. Then the duck got run over while out chasing cars after a busy rodeo nearby. :(

I have the opposite problem. My cat thinks he is a dog. He don't like strangers and plays with dog toys. He also doesn't like the mailman either.
