Interval Cardio

Why is Low Max considered interval cardio and not step cardio? I guess I'm asking what interval cardio is vs. step cardio.

Sorry if this is a stupid question :(

Not a stupid question at all!

Low Max (and IMax 1,2 and 3) have distinct segments. A simply (or fairly simple) step routine followed by "Blasts" that are designed to get your heart rate up higher than a standard step workout would. Kind of pushing against your anaerobic threshold - to up your endurance.

A standard step routine does not have these blasts and keeps your heart rate at a steadier pace.

I hope that makes sense.

Have you ever done Gin Miller's Intense Moves? I wonder how it compares to say, Imax2? So many people liked Intense Moves that I tried it and really didn't like it. I'm curious about Imax2 now but if it's like Gin Miller I don't think I'd like it either. Can anybody shed some light here? Thanks!

I have Intense Moves as well and don't like it. I do, however, LOVE LOVE LOVE Imax 2. I have all the Imax DVDs and sevral other of Cathe's. Imax 2 is my absolute favorite workout so far. You will love it. It is completely different, IMO, than Intense moves. The nusic in Imax 2 is awesome and makes me really want to work that much harder. If you order it you will not be disappointed. I am sure that others will chime in about how much they love it as well. It appears to be one of the crowd favorites :)

Hope this helps.

I have Gin Miller's Simply Step DVD, and, compared to Cathe's workouts, it is mediocre. I love Low Max, because my knees won't allow me to do that much high impact cardio. I have Imax's 1 and 2, and I will do one of those only once a week. Otherwise, I keep my step height at eight inches for more intensity, and I try to keep my movements low impact.

I have Gin Miller's intense moves and I like it. It depends on why you don't like it if you would like the IMax or not. If it's because of the music like atomlinson pointed out, then that is a factor. If it is because of the interval type workout, then you may not like IMax, either. I generally use Cathe's workout, but I find that Gin's is a good substitution to get in a good workout in a shorter amount of time ( I think it's about 50 minutes). Can't say much about Gin's other step workouts, because I don't use them much anymore, as I find, too that they are not as intense as Cathe's.

I don't like the interval workout so I'm not sure if I'll like it or not. I'm so intrigued though - guess I'll have to try it!:D
