IMax vs. IMax3- which one makes you burn more calories?

For all of you that own these two and have heart rate monitors, which one makes you burn more calories the first IMax or IMax 3? Thanks in advance.

I know! I was just curious. I can't make this experiment, but I was wondering if someone else has compared these two in terms of calorie burn. There's a lot of debate between which one of these two is the hardest, but to tell you the truth I don't care about that. A lot of people burn more calories with Low Max than with IMax 2 and that's what I care about, calorie burn, not which workout leaves me breathless quicker.

For me, the answer depends on how I'm feeling that day, when the last time I exercised was, and how long ago I ate something, along with some other factors I'm sure. But overall, I think I burn more calories with Low Max, then IMAX3 and then IMAX2. This orginally surprised me because IMAX3 and 2 just kick my butt everytime. But then again, so does Step Blast. I think the workouts I have that burn the more total calories are from the Terminator series. It's a combination of high high intensity over a longer period of time.

I did them all this week imax1 was the calorie burner for me 430
imax3 was 400 then imax2 at 350.all where done on a 6 inch step and at the same time of day.I always thought after imax 3 came out it was tougher than 1 but not according to my hr.I have been doing 3 at least once every 2 weeks so maybe I have gotten use to it and that's why the slight difference.

I am so upset that that is all. I just knew it was like 600 easy. I am going to buy a hr monitor cal burn watch i saw at walmart for $30.00. Because I would like to know am i in my fat burn zone.

The IMAXes are typically all lower calorie burners than PowerMax and MIC and even come under LowMax according to my HRM. I have posted on my calorie burn for these workouts previously and the total calorie burn will depend on how much the individual weighs. I am about 127 lbs and don't burn more than 280-300 calories for any of the IMAXes. I burn more with LowMax and even more with PowerMax and MIC. I think the reason the IMAXes don't burn many calories is that the step segments are low intensity. The blasts are high but then my hr really drops during the non blast portions. My hr stays up higher with the step segments of LowMax although it doesn't get as high during the blasts compared to the IMAX blasts but is still gets into the anaerobic range for most blasts. My perceived exertion seems higher for the IMAX workouts however, but I guess this goes to show you that perceived exertion isn't the ideal way to gauge how hard your body is actually working. But don't forget that these IMAX workouts are great for helping to build your cardiovascular endurance through interval style training and to shock your body with something that is not steady state cardio. I don't think these are necessarily meant to be super calorie burners because they are not. As far as calorie burn goes,I burn more with IMAX, followed by IMAX 3 followed by IMAX2.
Edited to add: I agree with the above poster. Of all the Cathe workouts I have (most of them) I burn the most calories with one of the Terminator workouts, Gauntlet. This is also one where my perceived exertion is right on the mark. I don't burn nearly as many with Viper.

I think that it depends on the day. Some day you just put a little more into a workout. It does vary for me. Today I did bootcamp back to back. I felt like I worked the same but burned more calories the first time around. Overall I think that I do burn more calories on IMAX3, then IMAX 1 and then IMAX 2.

I agree with Cathy, it is going to vary person to person due to weight, the more you weight, the more calories you burn.

I weigh around 132 lbs.

I did LowMax on June 22nd and burned 557 and did it again on August 4th and burned 501. I had my HRM set on 138 lbs on the 22nd of June and 132 on the 4th of August. I lost the weight in the interim when I started zigzagging.

LowMax, the Terminator w/o's, and the HCXtreme w/o's are my biggest burners. They are in the 500's. The IMAX's are generally in the 400's. BodyMax, that 90-minute mega w/o, is in the 600's for me.

Thank you all for your replies. I own Imax and Imax2, but I don't know if I really need Imax3. I was thinking IMax was at least as tough and I planned to do Imax in place of Imax3 if I saw it on a certain rotation. Then it came Aug '05 Rotation. It has all the three Imaxes on the same week. I don't know if I could do IMax twice though, but I still have to get the Gym Styles and Stretch Max first. I don't know if Imax 3 is really necessary.

As for MIC burning more than Low Max I believe it (although Low Max is still tough.) I did it a couple of days ago and I forgot how hard that workout really is and even more if it's done on a 8" step. Then I did Body Max yesterday OH MY... that's another tough workout.

All of them are pretty rough. I have done Imax2 and 3 in the same week with high step hard core and kick max hardcore doable but hard on the knees. You will lose inches though. I need to push my self to the next level and it is working.
