Imax 2 vs Imax 3

I need some advice. Should I purchase Imax 2 (which I love from Fit TV) or Imax 3? I know I get more with the Imax 2 DVD, but I don't think I'll be a huge fan of C&W because I've read that it's not as tough of a weight workout and I never feel like I got a great workout if it's not tough enough. I think what I really need is some talking into to get Imax 2. :D

Thanks!

Susan

IMax 3 is IMax 2 on steroids. It's TOUGH! You know those tap steps (#6 on IMax 2)? You START with those in IMax 3. And IMax 2 is just the most fun step workout I've ever done.

C&W - well I like the ab work. And the premixes are pretty cool. It's a great inbetween workout - like you would use any circuit workout. It's also good for add ons to existing weight workouts.

Just FYI - I love IMax 3, too. Some days I just want a kick a$$ workout, and IMax 3 provides that. But between the two of them, if I could only have one in my collection it would be IMax 2.

In addition to what Christine already said, I'd add that with C&W, you can always go heavier with the weights to make it tougher and do the upper body stuff twice (I think there's a premix for upper body weight work only).

I prefer IMAX 2 to 3. 3 is harder, but for me, 2 is more fun.

Agreed. Imax 2 is completely enjoyable torture. Imax 3 worries me, the impact is huge. I'm looking after my knees.

C&W is useful as a cardio warm up before weight lifting. Perfect for that.

If you don't have any knee/ankle/lower back problems, get Imax 3.

My knees and Imax 3 don't get along. I've tried modifying the blasts in Imax 3, but I had to modify it so much it wasn't as enjoyable.

I can do Imax 2 with minimal modifications. And it IS the most fun among all the Imaxes.

I use C&W as my starter workout after a longer rest period. I go heavier with the weight work. Sometimes I use only the step portion as an add-on to my other cardio workouts. I also tack on the weight portion sometimes after Bootcamp.

I agree with some of the other posts that Imax 3 is tougher to do but harder on the knees. I have to modify a lot of the jumps. I like Imax 2 better - it's more fun to do and I like the music and choreography a little better, too. I really like C&W, too. It's got the fun factor going for it and is one of the circuit workouts I choose when I want an emphasis more on cardio than weights. The abs are great in this one, too. I usually tack those on at the end of the Imax 2 workout.

I hate to be the odd one in the bunch but I prefer IM3 to IM2. IM2 is indeed a fun w/o but I much prefer the intensity and afterburn of 3. I have no problems w/ joints and jumping, so it works for me. Plus, I do like the music a lot in 3, too. I never heard anyone say that. Maybe I'm just young and insane ;)

I say to go with Imax 2 even though it has Cardio and Weights on it (which I don't really care for but it has an ab routine--can't have too many of those). I think Imax 2 is worth the added cost. I do Imax 2 once per week and maybe Imax 3 once per month. Imax 3 is good but Imax 2 is great!

Thanks for all your advice! I'm going to order Imax 2 as soon as I get finished here. I don't really have knee issues, but I do have one that is starting to act like it might want to give me trouble - hurts every once in awhile, so I should probably treat it well. Maybe when I grow up (in the land of Cathe)I will get Imax 3. :D

Wow susan! You have an Amazon and a Macaw! I'm so jealous ;-) I have 3 cockatiels and a lovebird... mini parrots. This was a fun project for us this summer: http://community.webshots.com/album/453295995NYrutG And your dogs are adorable!

Oh and yeah, IMAX 2 is the best! I love the music and the workout is more fun and better cued than IMAX 3. IMAX 3 does kick butt though.

Wise choice. Imax 2 is my all time favorite workout and not as high impact as Imax3. Imax 3 is great but is a bit hard on the knees. Let us know what you think when you get it}( :)

I checked out your picture trail and your pets are adorable. Love the Christmas photos:)

Oh, and welcome to the world of Cathe.

Right now, Imax 3 is my current favorite. I do it and it's premixes way more than Imax 2. I enjoy them both. I do think Imax 3 is a little bit tougher. Over time, I'm sure I will go back to using Imax 2 more. All the Imax's are worth owning in my opnion. They are all great step interval workouts. I like various aspects of all of them.
Imax - awesome warm up and the endless explosive lunges in one interval - yowza!
Imax 2- the music, the fun factor, interval 9
Imax 3 - the music, interval 4, jumping on and off the step, the way it keeps moving w/not a lot of down time
You can't go wrong with any of them! Enjoy!!!

I'm sort of late chiming in here but here goes:

Of course, eventually, you should own both IMAX2 and IMAX3 but until then I would go for IMAX2. Besides IMAX2 being one of Cathe's all time best step workouts Cardio and Weights is not a bad workout at all. I've been concentrating on lifting heavy for upper body and freestyle for lower. So the way I've been using CW is in the weights portion I do one of each in place of what Cathe is doing in the weight segments: sqats, walking lunges, plie squats, static lunges. This has turned a relatively simple circuit workout into a killer leg workout. I like to add some of Cathe's floor work on after finishing it.

There are really good premixes on the IMAX2/CW DVD as well.

I had surgery a couple of months ago and I used only the step portions of CW when I was making my fitness comeback. It is so versatile that I wouldn't want to do without it.

I wanted to throw up the first time I finished Imax 3!!! IT will KICK YOUR BOOTY!! It is a high impact challage DVD that keeps your heart rate up high!! the recovery's are not really recovery's!

However its a good dvd to get to challange yourself to work up to it. I use it to punish myself when I have been bad... I know too many sweetes and I have to do Imax 3, then the treats dont seem to deliciouse anymore:)

I would recomend it 100%.

Imax 2 is so fun that it just flies by! I know you've already said you're going to order Imax 2, and I think that's smart.

I enjoy C&W as a nice in-between workout. I'm not a big fan of circuits, but this one was enjoyable for me. The more I do it, the more I think circuits are a great way to go.

Imax 2, is just pure fun!!! Even the music. I just did it today, and enjoyed it a lot. Imax 3 is harder, so it's good for that super energetic mood.

I'm chiming in late, but I think there is just something about Imax2 that really is fun. It's got a level of difficulty but your having so much fun doing it, time seems to fly. Whereas Imax3 does move quickly but I find myself thinking about the next difficult part, and I don't know why but the fun factor isn't there? It would be cool if she did and Imax 4, with the fun factor of Imax2.
