I think I'm getting FIRED...(long, sorry)

This is consistent with the Walmart rep. That's why I never set foot in their stores. I will not shop there under any circumstances. They are a horrible company in how they treat their employees, their suppliers and the environment.

I'm really shocked as to how you've been treated. I agree you should take legal action if they try to fire you over this.

I'm sorry for the undignified way you've been treated. I think it's sad that behind their yellow smiley faces and happy walmart greeters, they treat their employees so inhumanely.

I'm so sorry you're going through this ...

If it were me, I'd do two things right away.

One, apologize to the maintenance lady. You can make this a simple "I'm very sorry for any distress my behavior may have caused you." This does not mean you are right or wrong, just means that you're sorry if she was distressed. She may herself be working under tough policies that don't allow her to extend the courtesy of using a restroom to you - but whether or not that's true, it sounds like you sure didn't mean to distress anyone (just use the bathroom, for goodness sake!), and you'd be sorry if you discovered you had worried her. Right? You don't need to offer up excuses or explanations, just a purely sympathetic - "I really am sorry if you were distressed" approach should be fine.

Two, begin looking for another job. Right now. You're not happy there, you feel mistreated, you are down to hoping to be fired. Don't let it go that far. Find another job first so that your record is clean. You want to part on good terms if that is at all possible. And while I normally don't suggest to people that they quit, in many cases it is better to quit than to be fired. Much easier to explain to future employers.

And I really do hear where you are coming from on your frustrations. I'm just hoping to help you with your next, much better, career step. Good luck!
 
I'm not sure that this matters, but the cleaning lady hardly knew a lick of english and maybe I'm stubborn or whatever you want to call it, but ever since I saw that poor old lady deficate in her pants because they wouldn't let her in, I was NOT about to let them do that to me, so when that situation arrived and it ended this way, I don't feel the need (wether is shows I'm right, wrong, or nothing) to apologize to her or anythone.

They should apologize to me, but I know that will never happen. I'm just hoping I get a job soon! Oh, and I wouldn't be surprised if they "let me go" while i'm recovering from my surgery for 2 weeks. I'm just so sick and sad of all of what's happened (not this incident, ALL of what has happened to me and what I've seen happened to others as I've worked there.). anyway,...
 
I'd like to go to my local wally world right now and lay a big, fat, steaming dump in sink of the ladies room...just for you Alana! ;)
 
Alana, were there any customers who witnessed this? I know if I saw such mistreatment of employees I'd complain LOUDLY to management.

Wow I missed this. I had to look back through the thread to find this after your last post. I have been in many bathrooms while they were being cleaned. Yes I have seen them closed them too, but typically there is another choice of bathrooms when they do this. I'm chalking this up to the wet floor issue and if someone slips there will be a lawsuit EVEN IF they put a caution wet floor sign out. Damn ambulance chasers. :mad: Notice, I didn't pick on lawyers in general. :)
 
I don't much care for Walmart either. My sister worked retail for Home Depot and they treated her horribly after 11 good years of service. What is wrong with these companies? Personally, I think it's more about the little creeps working in the individual stores who are brown nosers and lack any common sense whatsoever.

Chin up and stay strong. Most important do not allow these twits to get you that worked up. Honestly, I think they want u to get worked up so don't give them the satisfaction.

I like the previous post about apologizing to the cleaning women for distress, but that's all you need do. These managers must have thick skulls to act so idiotically.

Do you have an HR Rep you can speak to? It is very inhumane to deny somebody the use of bathroom facilities, especially if they're sick.

Alana - here's hoping you have worked something out or better yet, found a better job. I have had moments when I HAD to go. Who hasn't? When I had those moments, I would have used the men's room regardless of whether men were in there or not. And I seriously doubt the men would have minded and quite frankly, they probably would have exited to give you privacy. Stupid, useless power freaks that you have to work for. Sorry.
 
That was INCREDIBLY funny BIGBADBRANDINI! That actually made me laugh out loud!!..

But in all seriousness, I didn't do anything to that cleaning lady, nothing more than anyone else would have done to use the bathroom! hell, some people might have shoved her to the floor if you get the right person! I was waaaaay on the other spectrum of what they call "abuse" towards her, there was no abuse, simply me desperately trying to get into the bathroom...no apology necessary. She needs to grow some berries if what I did to her UPSET HER that much. gosh, anyway.

I told my cashier supervisor what happened, and I told the manager who called me into the office what happened (along with the other two males in there, "higher up") and nobody seemed to give a rats ass about what happened to me...seriously! most of the conversation was how I was treaing the cleaning lady badly and how I "abused and disrespected" her.

Anyway, there's nothing that I havn't already done that's important enough for ANYONE who knows about this to do something about it. It's walmart, I should have expected this, then maybe I wouldn't be so pissed off at how the people there are self centered and inconsiderate...

I think if they fire me, I'm gonna take a big dump right in the middle of the floor too! haha! Boy that was funny! Ya crack me up BRANDINI!!!
 
And for those of you who have made your snippy little comments (if any of you are still around Catheland!) about my refusing to shop Fascist Death Mart....think of people like Alana whom they treat like garbage. Something to think about for those of you who have the option of shopping elsewhere.....

I wonder if bigbadbrandini happened to visit the Fascist Death Mart in upstate New York as there was a big bad steaming pile in the stationary section of the store a few years ago. Perhaps commentary on the selection?

Too many people put up with too much bullshit on the job. Alana good for you for taking a stand. You *will* find something better!!!!
 
My mom has the same issue-when she has to go she has to go NOW and no warning. Her employer-SEARS-has told her any more occurances and they will have to let her go because of the "safety of the other employees" was thier reason. So it is not just Walmart.
 
Whoever told you to go to the Dr. to get documentation had a good idea. Then see a lawyer consultations are usually free-see if you have a case.
You may. One of the facilities where I work got sued for denying a woman bathroom privleges stating it wasnt' breaktime.

I'd love to know how someone's urgent need for the bathroom related to the "safety of the other employees." Your mother should asked them to articulate that one. I suspect they think employees are conducting "theft of time" but it seems that when someone is running to the rest room with tears in their eyes, and they don't smell like cigarettes when they return and don't have white powder on ends of their noses.....they just needed a pit stop. I'm thankful that I work in a setting where I am not treated that way, nor would my staff expect to be treated in such a crappy (no pun intended) manner.

I would love to know the same thing Beavs. I think it may be sanitary issues as sometimes she does not make it to the bathroom and even though she wears a depend that doesn't always contain it and she has said that once she left a trail. She was so humiliated. :(
I told her to check into disability as the drs can't seem to find anything wrong other than diverticulosis and this has been going on for like forever and getting worse.
