I have no idea what I'm doing

Hi there! I hope you don't mind I jump in here. I am pretty choreographically challenged as well and had a hard time with some of the Cathe tapes at the beginning. I found what helped me was that I started with some of her easier ones (Mega Step Blast, Wedding Video) and started to learn some of the moves. Once you start learning the moves, I added in other tapes and pretty soon I had most of the basic moves. Now it is just a matter of studying one or two new moves in a tape instead of having to attack the whole thing.

If you have the time/money, it might be worth it to try a couple of her easier tapes (while they are a bit dated in appearance, they are still a blast to do). Once you get it, you'll love it - its such a blast to be able to fly through one and get all the moves right!

Good luck!

Miz Nancy - how many days per week do you work your lower body?
You may have mentioned that in a prior post, but I didn't catch it, so forgive me if you have to repeat it.

Honeybunch-

I loved your story in the sucess stories forum!

About my lower body, I only do the amount that Cathe recommends! Like in my S&H rotations, I do one body part per day for a half hour. So I only get to legs once per week, which is recommended for S&H. With some of the others, it will be twice per week, like the new pyramid workouts. And that's it! Yet I require long recovery periods for legs. Someone else posted about this too.

I've tried eating more and taking more supplements to try to combat this, but all I did was gain weight, which I'm not dealing with too well :-( Primarily because it is costing me a small fortune to replace my work wardrobe!!

Hey Anna:

I too have a doctor who irritates the p*** out of me on just this issue. We should line the pair of them up and use them as taget practice for our round-house kicks!!!

Miz N-

My success story that is really not such a success, when you compare it to Donna's! I feel timid compared to what she has accomplished, but I guess I should feel good because not a lot of 53 year old women do what I do!

I asked how many days per week you worked your lower body, because I was baffled as to why you feel so fatigued on the elliptical machine. Could it be that you are not allowing yourself enough warm-up time?

Some folks can get away with little cardio while concentrating on weight work, but I'm not one of them, and I know Donna ran into this, too. You just have to keep experimenting, and find out what works for you, then that's what you do. I'm not real excited about trying every little thing that is suggested on these forums because be now I can tell if it's wise for me to even try.

Happy Monday! For me it's Monday-Tuesday, 'cause me work week runs Sunday - Thursday.

Endorphaddict, hi there!!

I'm fairly new to stepping too. What helped me is just studying one step/move at a time. I kept practising the horseshoe over and over until I got it! Then the corner to corners, hop turns, around the worlds, straddles and so forth. Just focusing on one step/move at a time should do the trick. I have no problem with any of her tapes now.

Good luck and have fun!!!

OMG, Honeybunch!!! I am SO jealous if you can actually wear a TANK TOP when working out with Cathe!! That would be so cool!! Unfortunately, I fall more in Nancy's category of steel bras!!LOL...You go girl!!
