Hey fellow Catheletes!

I just had to share my joy--last Sunday, I ran the Victoria Marathon and I knocked 31 minutes off my time!! My previous PR was 5:48 and I finished this marathon in 5:17:52... Woohoo!

Next goal in sight is 4:29 if I can get it. I'm going to take 7 months off, then start training for marathon #5 next June. In the meantime, I'm going to work on cross-training to recover and then get stronger and gain endurance so when I start training again, I'll be ready to take it to the next level :).

I'm not quite sure what changed this time around--maybe all of the stuff I'd done over previous seasons finally kicked in LOL? I did have extra motivation this year. I lost a very dear friend to cancer in March and it strengthened my resolve to kick cancer's butt especially hard with Team In Training this year. And in the last few brutal miles, all I could think about was not giving up because I needed to finish (and finish strong) for her.

That's incredible motivation for sure. You should be so proud of yourself! I'm in awe. What a great accomplishment!!!!!!!

Thats awesome congratulations on a race well run!!!!!!

At this rate you will qualify for Boston in 2012!

LOL! I was just joking with someone that if I manage to maintain this time (although I hope to chip away at it some more :)), I can qualify for Boston when I'm 75. I need something to shoot for, right?

Sorry for your loss. And what a fine accomplishment in her honor!

Congratulations!!! Thanks for sharing with us--it's very inspiring.

When you begin training again, could you share your training schedule? I'd also like to be under 4:30 for a marathon next May.

Will do! I just hope I can continue to improve :).

I am going to work with a running coach in Jan to work on getting faster in the off-season. I'll test that with a half in Apr and I'm hoping for a 2 hour half. We'll see. My PR is 2:18, so it's quite a bit to take off!

Congrats Jen! I just finished my 2nd marathon last weekend. I didn't train much for this one. It was so hard to train with summer gatherings and my sister was home. I did my first marathon in 3:47 but this one I did in 3:57. I wasn't disappointed though. How can one be disappointed?? Not everyone can say they have ran a mary!!! It is such a great accomplishment. I just enjoyed this one a little more and did whatever my body wanted to do. The next one I will probably train a little harder and hopefully do it under 3:40 and qualify for Boston, even though they are thinking about changing the qualifying time!!

Congrats again!!!!!

Lori:)
