.....to nurse assisting classes!!

Very small accomplishment, but here in AZ you have to take some classes and have all these shots done and fill out this big packet, and THEN be accepted. And, I got accepted! So, I could be in Nursing school as early as the spring of '05!!

I really hope this avenue works out since I have been taking classes and focusing towards it (reading, educating myself..blah, blah) for quite a while. I hope it works out for me. Just had to share my excitement, however premature!

Like some of my nursing friends say, pretty soon I will be "playing with poop"!:)

Congratulations Janice! Sounds like a nice job where you move around and not just sit in front of a computer. That's worth a lot!

Congratulations Janice!!! Best of all I'm sure there are lots of cool gadgets to play with ....just be sure them to insert them in the correct spots!

Congratulations Janice! I've been a nurse for 8 years and still love it! Yes, it's hard work and often draining, and who else would do the things we do, etc. etc. but it has been a very fulfilling career for me. I work in ICU/CCU and love it! Just don't let anyone squelch your enthusiasm and passion for it. It's a gift (I truly believe that) and if you have it, use it. We need more people like you in nursing. Study hard and have fun. Always remember to have compassion. Keep us updated on your journey! And don't let your hard schedule put your fitness on the back burner. Always take time for that. It'll help the stress level. Incidentally my husband is an RN, also.

Thank you Lynn for the advice. I appreciate any feedback I can get from current nurses. I thought it was no big accomplishment (you don't need any pre-reqs to get in to Nurse Assisting classes, but I have them all for the RN program) but the lady at my community college told me I should be very proud, that they do not accept just anyone. I guess that is because it is so competetive now. She beamed "Congratulations". That was nice. She helped me fill out forms and when I was done, she said "Uh, you forgot your name at the top". I laughed and said to her, "See, and you thought I was smart". It was very funny.:)

Congratulations!
I've been nursing for 20 years (I can't believe it!) and I'm still in school. That's the key is to keep on learning. Everything changes and we have to be adaptable to the change.

Congratulations Janice!!

I was a nursing assistant for several years and it's not an easy job that's for sure! I hope you have a strong stomach! I took several prerequisites for nursing then changed my mind and got a degree in business instead. My sister's a RN and works in Mesa. I noticed you're from AZ. Which part if you don't mind me asking? I live in Safford (in southeastern AZ).

I just wanted to add that I was looking at your pics and judging from those it looks like you're from the Phoenix area. Am I right? My DH and I are going to Phoenix this afternoon. We have tickets to go see Hairspray. I'm so excited!
