How not to wake up you husband at 5:00 to exercise?

Hi Ladies,

I am getting back into a.m. exercising and of coarse having trouble getting up. How do you get up with out the alarm clock waking you and your husband up? I am sure some of you may not even use an alarm clock. Can anyone suggest an alarm clock? Mine has the most irritating buzz.

Thanks,
Winter

I use a small travel alarm that folds flat and I put it under my pillow so the sound is muffled, but it still wakes me up.

My cell phone has an alarm clock that wakes me up with a nice jingle but I say wake his a$$ up and make him work out with you!!

Hi Winter,
My alarm clock has a radio setting that I have tuned very low. I always wake up at the first note, and my DH sleeps like a log, so it's never a problem at my house.

Wow, I'm way too mean and the rest of you are so thoughtful! My DH has to wake me up when the alarm goes off then he goes back to sleep for an hour. On some days, I will beg for 5 more minutes of sleep... then he will wake me up 5 minutes later. He then gets up an hour or two later to go to the gym. What a guy!!!:)

I'm almost always up between 5 and 6, but just in case set an alarm...One other gal said her hubby sleeps like a log...Mine, too...A freight train couldn't wake him up (though the sound of snow does, go figure)!!

I get up at 4AM to workout...Nothing wakes anyone else up in our house at that hour of the morning! Sometimes being married to and giving birth to heavy sleepers is a blessing!

Thanks Ladies,

I am going alarm clock shopping a lunch. You had some great ideas for me.

I am pretty darn protective of my Cathe collection so he (my boyfriend) is not allowed to touch. He has no idea how powerful her workouts are. His exercise is fixing boats, tractors, cars, cutting wood blah blah...........

Thanks again. Hopefully I can get back in the swing.

I get up at 5:30 every morning, yes my dh wakes up when my alarm clock goes off, but goes right to sleep when he knows its not his. Now, my working out is what kind of wakes him up because my workout room is right off our bedroom and there is no door to close the two rooms off. He tells me that I wake him up once in a while but when he realizes its me working out he goes right back to sleep. I feel bad but there is nothing I can do. I keep the volume really low, which sucks when I do workouts like Step Blast because I love to crank it up, especially when Painted Black comes on, but I do what I have too.

Not a concern with my husband. . .

I've been paged in the middle of the night, driven 20 miles each way to/from work to fix the problem, been gone a total of 1 1/2 hours and the next morning hubby had no clue I was even gone! He sleeps thru anything. . .

Hey - are you married to my hubby? LOL We do the exact same thing. Although I get up at 4:00. He gets up at 5:00/5:30 to go to the gym.

I use my cat, Zack. He sleeps next to me on and off all night, but around 4:30a, he gets up next to my face and starts gently nipping at me to wake up. I open my eyes, and there are two big yellow eyes staring at me! It still beats an alarm clock and doesn't wake up my DH.

Sorry I can't be more helpful, but I'd just let your alarm go off. Surely, he can fall right back asleep or he can choose to get up with you and exercise!!

Your husband sounds like me! A couple of years ago during a bad thunderstorm, a shingle blew off our neighbor's house and crashed through our dining room window. DH went outside in the rain at 2am to board up the window, then cleaned up the broken glass all over the floor. I slept though the whole thing! I do recall being mildly irritated that he woke me up when he got back into bed!

He's my alarm clock - I just tell him when I want to get up, and he's there with coffee, right on time!

another meanie here! i just set the alarm... if he hears it... he just goes right back to sleep (my alarm goes off at 4:00 a.m. though!)
