As of now, I am doing my running outdoors. There is a treadmill at my MIL's house that noone uses. I am going to check it out and if it works, it's MINE!

Then, I will continue to run outdoors as weather permits and move indoors to the treadmill for the LONG winter.

During the week I run on the treadmill. On the weekend I get to do my long run outside since DH can watch the kids.:)

Treadmill--I used to run outdoors but never went far enough or hard enough to see results. Fixed that with a treadmill. :)

In the 27 years I have run, I have only run on a treadmill twice! I prefer outdoors but living in Cal our weather is never really severe....:)...Carole

Treadmill.

It is all about the numbers for me. Seeing my distance and speed in front of me encourages me to keep going.

Often I set little goals and like: OK Judy, run at 8 minute mile pace for just 1 mile & then see how you feel. Then I will continue with a new goal such as 2" @ 7 minute mile pace followed by 2" @t 8 minute mile pace for 20 minutes.

Another favorite way for me to do treadmill runs is to watch IMAX3 or IMAX2 and adjust my pace to the workout. I jog comfortably during the step routines, run hard during the blasts and walk during the recovery phases.

This is how I get through my runs. It seems to make me push myself.

I find it MUCH easier to run outside than on the treadmill. I can run faster and longer outside. I'm training for my first marathon and I couldn't do it on a treadmill.

During the winter months though I use the treadmill.

Wow, Judy, what a great idea! If ever I get a treadmill, I'll have to try that:)

I've only ever run on a treadmill a few times, mostly when we've been staying in hotels and I don't know the area well enough to run outside. I much prefer running outside. I find running on a treadmill very tedious. I haven't run much in the heat we've been having, mind you. But I'm the idiot out running in the blizzard.:D

I do both but I definitely prefer outdoors. It's so boring on a treadmill. I feel like a rat on a wheel. :p I have to do it sometimes, though because it's too darn hot right now. If I am on a treadmill, though, I do sprinting intervals to pass the time and alternate between that and walking with the highest incline setting. I just can't do straight running on a treadmill.

Dani - when is the marathon?

Treadmill and it does get boring. Even using my ipod and listening to music I get bored. I am thinking of getting a tv in the room where I run and then I can put in a dvd workout and up my intensity intervals to that. Great idea to the person who said they do it!

Hey, Dani! How was your run last night? Did you find Secondy-Second Street?!?! :7 :7 :7 :7

Good luck on your 13-miler on Sunday!

I run mostly on a treadmill. I love to run outside, but I don't live in a place that I can run without getting run over, unless I do it before daylight. And I don't think that is very safe where I am.

I think it is a lot easier to run outside, too. I know some people say it is easier to run on a treadmill. But I think the opposite. I would LOVE to have somewhere safe and nice to run outside!! When we go on vacation I make it a point to run outside.

When I run I run on the treadmill. I refuse to take three kids with me. When the boys are older then maybe I will leave them at home by themselves and run outdoors. Unless I can get one of them interested in running with me. ;-)

Sabrina,

I take my son with me but he rides his bike. :) I've seen other moms on the bike trail running, while their kiddies ride their bikes along with them. Just an idea for when they get older and you can find a nice bike trail or running path somewhere. (Maybe even a high school track or something.) :)

My run went great!

Thanks for the well wishes for Sunday! I need them!! :)

Dani - me and Sophie do that too! It's good for wind sprints, since she likes to race:) She's already told me that she wants to run with me when she's older!
