i thought this might be an interesting topic;-)

i met my dh at a party b/c my best friend was dating one of his fraternity brothers and drug me along so she wouldn't be the only girl. he was dating someone else at the time, BUT i stole him}(

His fiancee at the time started working where I worked many years back. Her and I became friends and my s/o at the time and I used to hang out with her and my now DH.

That's only how I MET him....how it came about that (years later) we would go out on a date is a whole other long and sorted story!}(

Well we are a bunch of men-stealing women. Actually, I worked with DH. He had a fiance but that did not deter me. I liked his personality & attitude & I told him he'd better hurry & ask me out because he would lose out on a pretty big opportunity. I was going back to school full-time & I would be too busy to mess with him. Needless to say, he asked me out at right before I was going to write him off & the rest was history.

I was working in a hospital at the time and my husband's roommate was a medical student assigned to my team (this was on a psych ward--and no, I was NOT the patient! I was the nurse, thank you very much). He invited me and my roommates to a party at his house and that's where I met my DH. We've been together ever since. ;) :D :* :+

ETA it was a holiday party and my future DH was decked out in blue jeans with a Hawaiian shirt and a cowboy hat. He looked rediculous, but in a cute way :+. He was dancing with some girl but as soon as he saw me, he asked me to dance and we spent the rest of the evening together.

What a lovely picture Carole! You guys are adorable. Very sweet! I can't imagine him throwing anymore rocks at you because you'd be very likely to throw them back, huh?

Marla

Thank you Michele and Marla....:)...I didn't know if the pic would post or not...and no Marla he doesn't seem to throw rocks anymore...:D And besides I can run way farther than him...:)...so I can throw the rocks...Carole

Great pic Carole!!!! i bet he's scared to throw anything now:) you two make a beautiful couple. thanks!

jes:)

I met my DH at a party as well (guess we all need to be "under the condition" to meet our other 1/2), but I didn't remember meeting him at all:p He still holds that against me sometimes, saying how that shows he loves me more than I love him... that's kinda cute;) And because he's friends with my good friend's boyfriend, after he broke up with his girlfriend, the friend would drag him out to whereever I was going. Finally he decided to talk to me at one underground party, and that's where our love story began~:D

I worked as a security guard when I was 18 and met my husband when he asked me for the keys to the mens room. He then asked me out next. The rest is history.

Carole, what an absolutely lovely picture. You two look beautiful together. Thanks for sharing:)

I used to work at the Administration Office of a mall. My SO managed one of the stores in the mall. I was introduced to him by a mutual friend, and we became friends, although there was always something a little more. He had a girlfriend, but I asked him to go out dancing with me one Friday night and he did and, as Charlotte said, the rest is history. To be honest, it was only supposed to be for fun, as my marriage had just broken up, but I guess we have no control over these things, huh?:)

I love these stories of how everyone met! :) My husband was a blind date. We were set up by people we worked with (at different places!)...we got married exactly one year later, to the day...OMG...I just realized it will be 28 years (married) in June 2006! Okay...I really feel old now!!!

Edited to add...Carole, that IS a wonderful picture of you and your DH!!! :)

Carole, GREAT pic!! You two are adorable!!

I met my hubby in nursing school. He's also an RN. We had a psych class together and interestingly enough I had already taken the same class at Kent State where I obtained my BA in Psych, but because at the time KSU was on credit hours and our local community college had switched to semesters, they said the hours didn't transfer the right way or some such silliness. Same exact class - down to the syllabus! Oh well ... easiest 5 hour A I ever received - LOL! And, if I hadn't been in that class, I wouldn't have met my husband. Strange how things work out.

Love this thread. Great pic Carole. I agree with everyone you make a great couple.

Single here so no SO. Though my boyfriend/best friend for 6 years (he passed away 5 years ago) was my son's hockey coach. :) He was the most wonderful person and we were so blessed to have him in our lives for 6 years.

This thread gives me faith that perhaps, I will meet another very special person :)

Fun topic, Jes, and great picture, Carole!

I met my husband Junior Year Abroad in Heidelberg, Germany. I had a pretty serious boyfriend back home and he was going out with someone in Germany. We lived in the same dorm and hung out constantly and then things started to evolve...

funny thing, i met mine at a party and i asked this underage kid who was like 17 or something to grab me a beer and DH was going kick his butt. well i stepped in(b/c tough guy here never let anybody mess with his friends). afterwards ppl were telling DH about me b/c he though i was hot. he gave me a ride home that night. the next morning some friends and i were going on a little vacation and he gave us a ride to the bus station then came out a few days later to hang out and gave us all a ride home so we didn't have to take the 10 hour bus ride back. man the drama starts from there LOL.

We met on the internet back in 2000. Long story short, I was discouraged by setups, bars, etc and wanted to just spell out what I wanted. At the time, kiss.com (now absolved by match.com) was running a free membership for women who posted pics. I was in graduate school in Baltimore and DH was getting his phd at Johns Hopkins. We were only about 4 miles apart. We started emailing a ton everyday, finally talked on the phone, met for dinner, and the rest is history. We were married 10/02. Now we share a beautiful 19 month old son together :)

Robyn - I'm so sorry that you lost your boyfriend/best friend. I can't imagine how painful that must be.

Carole - great picture!

I met my DH in my first semester of college. It was close to Christmas break and I was looking forward to going home and seeing my old boyfriend and wasn't interested in meeting anyone new. My DH tricked me into going out with him (long story) and I was hooked. That was 20 years ago!

This is a very sweet thread. Jes thanks for starting it!

Carole- great picture! I need to learn how to do that. (hint)

MY DH and I started dating when we were in high school. He was the treasurer of the Senior class, and I was the treasurer of the Junior class. We counted money together.

We dated for 7 years and married while he was in medical school. No we never broke up or took a break, and I never regret it. We knew we were going to stay together from the start. We celebrate 22 years of marrige next month.

I can only hope my kids find the same happiness in a spouse that we have.
