how did you hear about cathe?

I was shopping on for Billy on Amazon and I had read several reviews which mentioned someone called called "Cathe"/ "Cathe Friedrich". So I googled Cathe.

Hi Kara!
For me it was Collage about 12 or 13 years ago. I found collage in Shape and after doing a Karen Voight and a few other step tapes I tried Step Jam and have been SO thankful ever since that I found Cathe!!! I did The Firm and Gin Miller along the way, but Cathe is my IT girl!

I can't believe I didn't find Cathe sooner since I've been doing workout videos for a long time. Until early last year I was still doing mainly old Buns of Steel videos (and buying new old ones on eBay) because I was so disappointed with some other stuff I'd found in stores. How sad is that?

Then that spring (of '07) I started branching out and getting lots of new workout DVDs--it's when the obsession began, really. I'd always had videos but never wanted so many before. I'd just started doing a couple of Kimberly Spreen videos and I liked Tae Bo but didn't like the inconsistent counting, so I wanted more kickboxing. Someone on a Weight Watchers forum had recommended Cathe so I looked her up. My first Cathe was Kick Max. Yikes. When she started the tucks and air jacks I stopped and my mouth fell open. Then I tried to join her but mainly just did some jumping jacks. I was amazed by her. So I went and got a step which came with Basic Step & Cardio & Weights. I mastered Basic Step easily enough but again was totally confounded by Cardio & Weights. I never thought I'd be interested in complex choreography either, but now I love it more complex. :)

I started out with the firm also around 1998. I had the VHS tapes and collected several. Then I found out about collage video in 2001 and started collecting videos.(back then it seems there wasn't much on collage? I don't remember seeing Cathe on there then?) I ended up mostly doing the firm and tae bo with a few others. I even did denise austins workouts haha.

I didn't find out about Cathe from Collage though which is strange. I guess I quit checking the site a while but I found a VHS of Crosstrain Xpress- kickbox at a consignment shop and loved it. Then I just looked up the site and my first purchase was the preorder for the Intensity series DVDs. I now have a ton, they pyramid dvds, gym styles, kick punch and crunch, butts and gutts etc. they are all great!

I do think Cathe is the BEST also but I like to mix things up and also do Jari L, Amy B. I have my favorite old Firms on DVD but I can't remember when I last did them. I still bust out my urban rebounding dvd sometimes. I just do the advanced with J. B. I think rebounding is fun and I wish there were more videos for it. I can't get into Urban reboundings other videos.

I actually just donated my whole VHS workout video collection to goodwill the other day. I realized they hadn't been touched in years since I started collecting DVDs (and better workouts at that). Cathes are for sure my favs!

Back in 1993 I signed up for a step aerobics class at my local community college. I liked it so much I wanted to start doing it at home. I bought a step and and a few step workouts (Kathy Smith, Crunch, Step Reebok, etc.)

I saw an ad for Collage catalog in Shape magazine and I ordered one. I wanted to try an advanced workout and Cathe seemed to fit the bill. I ordered Step Heat and soon she was the only instructor I was working out with.

Lately I've been trying to incorporate other instructors into my routine (mainly Amy and Tracey) but Cathe still is and always will be my favorite. I was so excited to be able to go on the road trip last year and actually work out with her in person after 14 years of doing her videos.
